  1. Eliminator and power gen. for the full Pyro build. Keybinds are a personal preference, so there's nothing anyone can really help on that besides your own muscle memory.
  2. Dunno, I do minimum of around 250k damage on my 35 PT and 10kish protection with minimum of 7 medals. Been doing this much damage since I got the Rail Shot refresh talents. Max damage I have done was on a voidstar with around 380k, so can't wait for 50 gear+talents. Is your damage low because of you overheating or is it just that you can't somehow pull the numbers you want? Do you keybind or click? You pretty much are almost forced to keybind as this class since you're always on the move and being mobile, either not letting your target get away or LoSing other player's moves. Alright with that over with, there's some tips I can give. 1. If you are getting ganged by 3-4 people and know you can't kill any of them because CDs have been used, just apply Incin. Missile to all of them. Apply it to the stealth classes (so no stealth) first and then the healers (no OOC regen). 2. Flamethrower is really situational and eats your heat, so don't always try to get in and just flamethrower people. 3. Look @ your Rail Shot CD all the time. If it's off CD, or 2-3 seconds or so before it goes off CD, don't spam Heat Blast or Rocket Punch unless you have <40 heat or you know how your situation is playing out. I wish I could fully explain this one, but it's just something that comes over time through heat management, situation awareness, etc... 4. Unload, I use this a bit, not as super situational as Flamethrower, but by no means is a move that can be ignored. People running away from you and grapple is off CD and your heat is fine? Unload, which will snare them, apply the DoT (unless extremely unlucky), and do some extra damage and maybe kill someone off. You can use unload when you're really far away from a battle and no one is focusing you and you don't want to get involved in a large zerg cluster. 5. If you're just damage whoring with AoEs, don't unbind your Explosive Dart. If there's 3-4 people clustered around, just throw an ED out and look at your numbers. If it's 1-2 people, TD I'm pretty sure will do overall more damage and even more if it crits. Other tips are just general, like being aware of your surroundings and stuff. Proof and some added perspective that a PT can do great once 30+ http://imageshack.us/f/818/74125523.png/ (average warzones SS)
  3. Our grapple hugs are the best after all.
  4. 2 set for PTs is buggy (.5 seconds to Carbonize I heard was a buggy) then the 4 set is meh because Rocket Punch is ok. 2 set of the Merc. is useless for a PT, but the 4 set (15% crit on Rail) is amazing since rail shot is the bread/butter move of the class.
  5. First two letters of POwertech, but backwards amirite? To answer, it's sort of spoiled me for other classes.
  6. Why do you have to reveal yourself in such an obvious way?
  7. And half of those things don't apply to PVP which is what I'm assuming OP is wanting to go for since Frost was mostly for PVP. +the snare capability of Sorc. blows compared to Powerpyro at least for me. The snare on Sorc lasts for 6 seconds, has a 12 second cooldown vs. mine where I can just kite and have it applied practically 24/7. Force Lightning is a Mind Flay mirror as it doesn't apply a snare after the cast. Shock as lance? erm, no, Ice Lance was used mostly for shatters which you can't shatter at all (or get that good bursty feel). Shock is more like Fire Blast considering it's low damage+CD. The Knockback on the Sorc is meh, since animation delay kills it and the knockback isn't a large range vs. that of cover pulse(sniper) and jet boost(merc). Would much rather have Carbonize over a knockback. I just don't want the OP being confused.
  8. Having a Sorc @ 50 and trying different builds and having leveled a Powerpyrotech to around 32, I'd go with the Pyrotech as being the closest, but with substantial differences anyway. A Sorc. feels a lot more like a SPriest with the DoTs, dispel, extrication(leap of faith), Force Lightning (Mind Flay) and there are a lot more skills that you can mirror up with a SPriest. Powertech on the other hand is all about mobility and setting up burst. Shatter combos? You can sort of do them in this game. Explosive dart and waiting for last second to rail shot while popping relics and getting other buffs can do some great burst (can't wait for thermal det. and 30% crit. mod. talent). Kiting? You can run and gun with the flurry of shots and proc. off the 50% slow constantly or use Flame Burst if you're managing heat well. If things do come in your face, it's alright you can Rocket Punch or Flame Burst and refresh Rail Shot. Flame Burst also has 100% chance to proc the 50% snare if you're pyro. Spellsteal mechanic isn't in, but you have some other cool things like Grapple which more than makes up for it and Spellsteal wouldn't be that important in this game anyway. Kolto Overload is what you can consider like a mini evocate except on the move and less HP regain (15% heal over time). CC? Well you can kite with the procs, a 4 second stun on a 1 minute cooldown, Carbonize (46?) which is a 2.5 sec stun AoE on a 45 second cooldown (can think of it like Frost Nova sort of). O and an interrupt on a short CD, just you gotta be in melee range to use it, but that's alright. Flamethrower is your "cone of cold" like spell, but it's channeled, but does a ton of damage when you find a clump of people. No "ice block" button, but the shield (25% damage reduction) lets you tank people while still dishing out damage and on top of heavy armor which a little extra damage mitigation is always nice. Sorcs. only "mobility" is Force Speed which can be easily countered by a force charge, grapple, and other immobilizing effects. Tbh. only thing Pyro is missing that was pretty trademark of Mage is Blink and Polymorph. No class has a spammable CC, so it's alright, and no blink, but who cares when you're a walking death machine anyway. Powerpyro just feels more Frost Mage for me because of burst and the ability to be always on the move, so it still has a Frost Mage's mobility. Hope that wall o' text helped because I too at first though Sorc. was more like Frost Mage, but it honestly isn't at all after playing Frost Mage in WoW for 3+ years. EDIT: Also if you're thinking of playing a Merc, it is no way near as fun as a Powertech. Tons less mobility if Arsenal, boring missile spam, and no so good surv. when melee gets in your face. The Pyro tree for Mercs. isn't quite as good because you don't get 90% ArP rail shots, and resetting rail shot as a Pyro sucks since you have to stand still and cast some stuff and then depend on RNG further. To top it off, Mercs don't have an interrupt.
  9. Nope, venting 8 heat as well as more armor pen. AND resetting Rail Shot CD is far better than Retract. Blade. Not to mention Rail Shot can be used at range.
  10. With that particular build, I'd go with the 15% crit on rail shot because .5 seconds isn't game changing and Rocket Punch isn't an absolute must-use ability vs. the ST/pyro build. Don't know the statistical difference on the gear, but by set bonus alone, the 15% Rail Shot seems to be the winner. Thanks for that!
  11. I have to ask, why did you decide not to spec into Supercharged Ion Gas? You put 1 point into Ion Screen which seems a lot less useless compared to a 25% damage increase to your main cylinder as well the DoT duration being bumped by 3 seconds. That's the only gripe I had with the build and I intend to go with that build once I get my alt PT to 40+.
