  1. As someone who has played both PvE and PvP in MMOs and mostly only PvE'd until SWTOR, I can safely say that there is no argument that any PvE'r can have in this debate.

High-end PvP is much harder than high-end PvE. Period. In a vacuum where players only do one or the other, the PvPer is a better player, period.

There may be gladiators from some of the best PvE guilds in WoW, but the majority of those players in those top PvE guilds could not handle really high end PvP.

    Also, I suck at PvP.

  2. 1) It's maybe the best show ever.

    2) Yes, some of my guildmates are really sheltered, which I'm not sure is surprising because they're PVPers orrrrrr pretty obvious since they're.... PVPers.

I have to agree at least partially. Gilmore Girls may be one of the best written TV shows I have ever seen. Completely serious.

It isn't my favorite show of all time, though.

  3. Hey there Altruistic, remember when you were lightly trolling the Sorey thread and I asked how you'd feel and react if it was Covenant that was being accused? I guess that I'm here to white knight for you. :D

I remember. I also never said Sorey hacked. I just thought it was cute that we had republic players going out of their way to defend it. It felt more like sucking up to the Imp side, hence my trolling of the thread.

I am a pretty poor troll because I freely admit to doing it most of the time.

But this guy over at DH is just a joke and should be removed as a moderator for a comment like that that can be so easily misunderstood. Regardless of his backtracking, he basically accused all of the better known PvP guilds of hacking.

My whole point of contention with the Sorey thing was, whether or not he was hacking, BW investigated him multiple times and apparently decided he was worth a ban. All it could have been was technical issues he was experiencing (which would totally be BW's fault). BW may ban people whose computers have a hard time running the game. Like I said, I just found it funny the republic players basically sucking up to the imps. I will give the opposite side respect, but I will never suck up.

  4. I know of no one in Covenant who hacks. I have never seen any of us, or anyone in any of the "good" PvP guilds hack.

This game is a technical mess. So, if newer (or older) players cannot understand how players can apparently do funny looking things simply because the game is basically a piece of junk (from a technical standpoint), then they need help.

Just the other day we were playing a huttball where a player was apparently teleporting all over the place while laying down. We chalked it up to SWTOR being SWTOR because for a portion of the match he moved correctly. This is possibly what happened to Sorey. There is so much lag that anytime you are trying to pull, push, force speed, etc., you basically have to pray to the BW gods that you actually get where it says you are going on your screen.

It is truly remarkable where players will end up if they are trying to leap, get pulled, get pulled again. They can end up somewhere completely different than you expected them to.

The guy at DH needs to be removed as a mod for that kind of comment without ANY proof. And trying to skirt it now is a joke. Get over yourself. You are apparently no different than the fresh 50s who have no idea how the game works.

I have never seen instances of the "good" guilds hacking.

  5. When I first started SWTOR I actually wanted the name Grimm or Grotesk. I was going to try and pull of the 'I'm a guy who plays a female character but I'm totally a dude' thing. But both the names were taken. :(

Those names totally sound like a girl trying to pretend to be a guy playing a female character but is totally a dude.

  6. My bad then! Your forum e-cred seems to be growing, you're like Abbster Jr.! :D

I am working on it. I am rarely serious on the forums and just like to mess with people mostly. I mean very little of what I type in threads other than to get a reaction from people.

Abb and I actually went to high school together.

  7. It's funny you're trying to troll me. Ask your guild, they've known me for quite a while.

Anyways I'm waiting to see this video of me hacking.

I am not trying to troll you, although I do troll occasionally. I have only been playing for about 2 months after an approximate 5-6 month hiatus (or more, I can't remember). So, I honestly don't know who you are. I recognize a few names from Space Slug but that's about it.

I know who Altruistic is Tai, he's one of the really easy kills from back when Covenant would queue ranked!

I see him more on the forums than in warzones now though.

Wrong. I had never played ranked until we played here recently, and we never played you. I am an easy kill, though. My e-cred is not very strong.

  8. I understand that speed hacking is hacking is a serious issue considering BW decided to put a notice on the log in screen, but just because somebody is playing well or going fast, does not mean the person is speed hacking.

Recently, one of the top players on our server has been banned for it, even though there is a general consensus among the players that the accused player has never done such a thing ( I won't name names because bw has taken down posts about him in the past). Yesterday, another player on the opposite team in lowbie was playing very well on his assassin and using absolutely no speed hacks (I know this because he targeted me every chance he could), but yet at the end, several players on my team were complaining about reporting him for hacking.

There are several game mechanics and skills that increase players' speed absolutely fairly and can be confused for speed hacking from an inexperienced players perspective. So please, unless you thoroughly understand every class and every spec (such as powertech jump, intercede, predation, force speed, and sneak), do not report people for speed hacking because more likely than not, they are merely using an ability you have never seen before.

TL;DR Do not report people for speed hacks unless you know this game inside and out.

    EDIT:

to clarify: I am not insinuating that bad players should not report hackers. I am bringing up the point that many players unfamiliar with speed boosting skills jump to unwarranted conclusions when they see somebody jump or move quickly.

This is analogous to the case where a juggernaut "hacked" and jumped to an empty space and received significant complaints about the situation, despite the fact that he interceded to a stealthed player.

    White knighters gon' white knight.

  9. Neutralized by smart dps?!? lol what dps class has a stun break every 17 seconds?!? I want that class, I want that ability. Do sorcs/sages have any concept of how this game is played by any other class? I have a 50 sage, full heals and i refuse to spec into that stupid bubble cause I don't use exploits to play games, i play games to have fun.

Pop it from range, profit. Don't be bad.

  10. What we should be getting all along - DPS worth a crap.

Well, that is fine for dps sages. I am a healer and prefer to heal. Part of that is controlling the opposing team with multiple bubbles.

If it is caster-only, I don't see much value in speccing that far into a dps tree for a 3 second stun every 17 seconds that can be neutralized by smart dps.

I may try full heals myself a bit to see how it works.
