  1. So I'm watching Drakul's new Immortal video

    (for reference)

    (/reference)

Granted, he's getting a lot of healing, but seems to be an absolute beast. At 37k HP, is this mostly about END stacking with augments, etc? I pvp with a gunslinger, so this is fairly new to me. My guardian is at 40 so I could probably get him viable in a short period of time if I wanted to give this a try.

The end of the video shows his stats, but doesn't elaborate on gear. Can anyone fill me in on how you think this is geared?

    Thanks

  2. What is it about this game that attracts the most over-sensitive babies? I don't remember people being this beta when I played WoW...is it the Starwars franchise that attracts the sheltered nerd types? This is why I enjoy League of Legends so much, it's expected that most people you play with are complete ******es. I like it better that way...no worries about someone choking on their own tears.

League of Legends is Hello Kitty Island Adventure compared to the sociopaths on DotA 2.

  3. My favorite are Bradleey's troll diaries. I also learned a lot about playing a shadow/assassin and how to get any node that's only guarded by 1 toon (assuming they break the first CC).

This is the playlist. My personal favorite is episodes 4 and 5 with the Baywatch music.

  4. Im new to the game. So im wondering what the difference between PVP and PVE gear? ANd why is it a bad idea to go into a WZ with PVE gear on?

PvP gear has a stat called Expertise. This is a common theme in other MMO's (notably World of Warcraft).

Expertise increases your damage versus players by a % and reduces damage from other players by a % and increases the amount you get healed by a %.

PvE gear doesn't have this stat (as it's useless in PvE). So imagine a PvP geared person going up against a PvE geared person, The PvPer will have a bit less of their primary stat than the PvE, but they'll be doing ~30% more damage, be taking ~20% less damage and getting healed ~15% more than the PvE character. It's a crippling difference.

Keep in mind, this doesn't apply in the 10-49 PvP bracket (well, it does, but the amount of expertise you can get pre-50 is really marginal and doesn't make much difference)

  5. I've been doing 10-49 pvp for awhile now, and it's almost as if when I see 2 WOOK or WOOK Jr. people in a game, I should take a break.. (I don't, but still).

Just a bit of frustration that it just means I'm about to get superowned. Like triple-cap owned.

Who are the Empire PVP guilds?

  6. Scavenging + Bioanalysis + anything else you want here (Archy is good, slicing is okay, but I wouldn't do it as your only character on the server, or crew missions. Treasure Hunting has been doing well at 400 buying the missions from the GTN and selling Corusca gems)

    1) Get your scavenging high enough to have your idle companion run Jungle Medicine (Bountiful Grade 1 Compounds)

    2) Get your bioanalysis high enough to have your idle companion run Mines of Doan (Bountiful Grade 2 Compounds)

    3) While you only have the ship droid as your idle companion, favor Mines of Doan over Jungle Medicine, but check your server's prices first.

What you're looking to get is Laminoid and Genetic Anomaly. Laminoid sells for 700-1000 credits each. Genetic Anomaly sells for 800-1500 credits each, depending on server, and current supply available.

    4) Higher missions in Bioanalysis yield items that pay very well (Hallucinogenics, Bio-Energy, Nerve-Damaging, etc), but those missions take 10-20 minutes to complete. Mines of Doan is 470 credits, takes less than 5 minutes, and can return up to 12 Genetic Anomaly (if you crit), it's usually like 5 Anomaly and 5 Luminescent. So for a 500 credit and 5 minute investment, you're bringing back a minimum of 2000 credits (when you epic fail and only get 10 luminescents) and a maximum of 18000 credits (assuming you get 12 anomaly and it's selling at 1500. It's usually closer to 1000). I run the higher level bioanalysis missions once I have 3-4 companions and mines of doan is already in-use.

You'll have over 1 million credits by the time you're level 30 (or at least 1m in credits + inventory waiting to be sold)

If you want to be extra crafty, make your 3rd profession Biochem. The reason Genetic Anomaly sells so well is that it's the main ingredient to the lowest level Implants you can make for level 21 characters. I can usually only sell about 20 anomaly at a time (in stacks of 4), and that'll take a couple of hours. If you make the implants, you can effectively double your output (sell 20 anomaly and 4 implants. I usually sell blue level 21 implants at 8k, 9k if it gets an aug slot, 10k for purples, 12k with aug slot)

  7. I think we're only slightly touching on the needs of a MMO game.

It seems every WoW patch is to save the universe, and I think people treat it as a known quantity.

The WoW story also requires that you separate out that you have millions of "heroes" in the world, and it really just comes down to your group being the proxy for all heroes.

Barsen'thor makes sense. Now, I don't think anyone would argue that it makes further writing more difficult. It paints you into a bit of a corner. All of the class stories are happening at different times in the timeline, with only a couple crossing paths. Chapter 4-5-6 will need to be more about converging.

I agree with The Burning Crusade sentiments as far as story, but I still loved their end-game content. Please make the Emperor's citadel be Karazhan :)

  8. For Leveling:

Switching trees, IMO, gimps you for a few levels, and I'll explain my reasoning on this:

-After level 27, you switch over to the lightning tree, and for the next 5 levels, you're giving yourself 100 more force and 6% more damage on crushing darkness (Lightning Blast gets a boost too, but you don't really need to be using it, you have force lightning). The 100 force can really only be measured by the metric of "Are you running out of force, or stopping between fights ONLY to recupe force?" (If you're healing anyway to get HP back, the extra force is moot as far as I've experienced). Those same 5 points in Lingering Nightmares, Deathmark, and Oppressing Force would get you a much larger damage boost, not to mention Oppressing Force can be a big help for certain content.

    - The next 5 levels after that in Lightning are getting you more Affliction damage and 20% stronger bubbles. If you'd been getting Creeping Death and Parasitism in Madness, you're getting some more damage and a bit more healing there as well. You could say those give equal bang for the buck, depending on where your crit% is.

    - Chain lightning vs. Creeping Terror. This is more of a style call all this point. Creeping Terror is a kiting DoT that is getting some useful help from parasitism and deathmark. Chain Lightning has a cast time, but has better numbers, and at this point, if you're splitting trees, it's not getting any help other than 6% damage boost.

I think the build's viability at higher levels is a completely different discussion (and a 0/20/21 build is nice in PvP too). But I'd level through the end of Madness, and then respec it later. There's probably about 10 levels in there that you'll be slowed down by changing trees. Since you'd be wanting to level as fast as possible, having those first 10 points of lightning starting at level 28 seems like it's not giving you anything you weren't already getting (and arguably better) from Madness.

tl;dr - Split your trees later after a respec, and you'll likely level faster.

  9. sorry if this been ask before but i looked thru 15 pages and cant find what am looking for :( is there a guide that roughly gives what planet has what mats? am looking to level my cybertech but having problems finding certain mats i need to raise my cyber up higher from 78. thanks guys for any help you can give

You're in that trough where you need Aluminum and Laminoid I assume (which are beasts to buy from GTN. Aluminum is 300-400 each and laminoid is 500-700 each).

I made a farmer toon with Archaeology, Scavenging, Bioanalysis. Doing laps around the Jedi Temple in Coruscant is just wacky if you have no competition. If I'm the only guy there, about 20 minutes of running around will net me 50,000 credits and I can then just buy what I need for other toons (selling Rubats at 200-250 each, Green Goo at 100, Aluminum at 300, laminoid at 500)
