  1. So reading this I'm right in understanding that currently recklessness is bugged and not granting a crit to Thundering Blast like it should/was pre 4.0? Also I'm interested in this comparison of Madness vs Lightning in PvE because I find Madness more fun but Lightning seems to be so much quicker at bursting mobs and bosses down so is Lightning not the better spec to use when trolling through mobs? I'm a PvP'r but recently got hooked on the Alliance content and doing Star Fortress runs so that's why my questions might seem basic lol.
  2. So I know it's still very early but any sorc healers got any advice on what mix/ set of augments to go for? And also stat priority? What ive managed to find dps stat wise is 40% crit, 8-9% alacrity and the rest into power. Is this the same for healing too?
  3. Apologies yes you make valid points when it comes to stack usage and the use of dps in PvE which as a PvPer I hadn't thought about and also know little about 😀 At least now the OP has got info from both a PvE and PvP PoV.
  4. Whilst I would agree as a healer you will have to adapt to circumstances I would still argue that there is definatley still a rotation. Static Barrier>Resurgence>Innervate>Revivication(Instant proc)>Resurgence>Dark Infusion>Dark Heal(instant proc) and repeat. Few pointers: Always use resurgence on cooldown and always before Innervate and Dark Infusion. Personally I always prioritise DI over Roaming Mend unless I need burst healing to multiple group members as it costs less force. If you channel Innervate and don't get the full 3 stacks, I would use those stacks with Consuming Darkness to keep my force topped up before I innervate again. This will stop you missing out on potential stacks. Roaming mend is also useful to cast on someone you know is going to take a lot of initial damage without the resurgence buff as it then becomes a HoT. I tend to cast that on someone pre fight. Cooldown wise I like to use Recklessness with Innervate or Roaming Mend in times when you really need the burst. With Polarity Shift I'll save that when I need to pump out heals a lot quicker if Recklessness is on CD or in times when I'm being focuses and don't want to be interrupted. DPS wise I really wouldn't worry about this especially if you are just starting out with healing, leave that down to the DPS in your group I would say. Lastly I would say I'm coming from a PvP perspective so my recommendations are stemming from PvP experience and personal preference. Good luck.

  6. Is your set up much and such the same with augment choice etc or have you don't something different? Also is this stat setup optimal for lightning too do you guys think? Pre 4.0 I was able to run the same gear setup for when I played both madness and lightning but don't know if that's do able post 4.0. I know to aim for 40% crit but is stacking 10% into alacrity and then rest into power the way forward do you guys think for both specs ?
  7. Ok so I've read all the suggestions and appreciate them thanks. The only game I play on PC is swtor so I'm only looking to build something that'll run the game With good fps, my laptop just now gives me 7-9 in a war zone so I'm in dire need to get something better. I followed that last link for toms hardware and it talks about the recommended specs for swtor: Recommended System Requirements CPU: AMD Phenom 2 X4 Quad-core 2.5GHz or better / Intel Core 2Quad Processor 2.4GHz or better. OS: Windows 7 64bit SP1, with 4GB RAM or higher. 8x DVD-ROM or faster. VIDEO: ATI/AMD Radeon HD 4850 or better* / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 or better* / *512 minimum video RAM / *Shader 3.0 or better fully compatible graphics card Is this still current? Speaking to a friend they suggested getting an i5 2nd gen with a Gtx 560ti and it would run the game no problem instead of spending over 500 pound when i only plan to play this game. Is there any truth to that would you guys say? Is it worth getting current generation stuff if older gen will run the game just as well? Also on that toms hardware they are testing an i5 2500 @ 3ghz which is giving and average 79fps they reckon, unless I read it wrong, is using a 6th gen CPU going to give me that much more of a noticeable difference when running this game?
  8. No other suggestions from folk?
  9. I wasn't planning on overclocking for 2 reasons, I've no experience in doing it and I'm not looking to play the game at its best GFX, I'm just looking to play it at more than 7fps in a war zone which is what I'm getting just now lol. The cpu i looked at sorry is the i5 6600 3.3ghz for £170 and the 6600k is £200 and it's a 3.5ghz but says unlocked I'm guessing it means you can overclock it? I know it's a difference of 30 quid but if its only for the sake of overclocking is it really worth it? Is not even having half of this stuff going to greatly increase my fps as it is? HDD wise I'm planning using my current 120gb ssd used for running swtor out of my laptop aswell as my 500gb HDD I'm also running in a caddy in my laptop which stores general photos and crap. PSU wise I'm open to advice on anything that'll meet the power requirements to run the machine, like I say this is my first build and I don't quite understand how I'm meant to work out choosing a PSU.
  10. Thanks for all the suggestions. Just want your opinion on the following things I've looked at being doable over the next few months: Intel i5 6600 3.2ghz Msi Gtx 950 2GB Asus Z170 P motherboard 8GB Corsair Vengeance which I believe is ddr4 RAM Corsair VS650 PSU, will that be enough power do you think or will I need a higher wattage? Not really sure how to gauge my power needs. And a Cooler Master 372 tower. And also do I need to buy a cooler fan seperate for the CPU on top of all this? I see folk debating if I have keyboard mouse etc, I've got and use a keypad so a decent keyboard isn't a priority, using a razer naga mouse and have a headset and I can get a Win7 o.s. So all i think I'd need is a monitor/ cheap led tv to run it on. Ive briefly looked into prices and it's comes just short of the 500 mark, will it work and work well with the game do you guys think?
  11. Ok I'm not quite starting from scratch I should have said I've got a razor mouse and keypad, a set of turtle beaches and I am able to get an o.s. no problem. I'm also in uk so hopefully being 550 dollars will mean it's within reach 😀
  12. Budget wise I'd say around 400-500 max and I'll be buying bits over a few months when I can. I had read anything more than an i5 would see no huge gain in performance so thanks for the advice aswell. Would you recommend a GFX card with at least 2gb of dedicated ram built in too?
  13. So I'm looking to build a rig, my laptops getting old and the fans playing up. I'll be starting from scratch and know very little when it comes to building a PC so I'm looking for some advice. Putting it together wouldn't be a problem, it's knowing what components are going to work together and what'll will meet my needs. Swtors the only game I play on PC so I know I don't need a high end machine that'll cost a fortune to build. Pvp is all I go for, my laptop gets at most 10fps in a war zone, which sucks lol, so really I'm looking to get a machine that will run the game at a decent level of fps over having the best amazing graphics. I know CPU and GFX card will be my most expensive parts, can anyone recommend anything that'll give me 30-40fps on say high settings that won't cost me an arm and a leg? Doesn't have to be the newest or fanciest on the market as I say. Or even if anyone has any sites that I can read up on building a machine that'll help me choose what to go for? Thanks.

    Keyboard vs mouse

So my set up for the past year or so has been a razer tarturus and a naga molten with majority of my keybinds on my naga. My naga has decided to give up and now I'm left with either forking out 60 odd quid for a new mouse or re learn my keybinds using a keyboard and basic mouse. My question is are the majority of you all using a naga or equivalent and swear by them or do a lot of you prefer using the keyboard for most of your abilities? I've looked and found folk saying keyboards and a mouse like a G300 which has a few extra buttons and is ALOT cheaper is perfect and using esdf instead of wasd has advantages and just wondered if it's worth my time re learning it all? Having a wife and 2 kids really doesn't give me the spare cash to fork out and I'm sure I'm not the only one lol.
  15. Go to pvp gear vendor, look against the far wall between inquisitor and warrior vendor and you'll find the enhancements vendor.
  16. Myself and a few other guild sorcs have dropped all crit from gear and replaced with power mods, enhancement wise I'm running 5 alacrity power and 2 power and surge. Augment wise you want full willpower.
  17. I'm not a pro player and like I say I've only been using madness a while but why apply DF before demolish? I assumed because demolish is a dot to apply for the spread. I will try using reck for force leech I'm guessing for a bigger heal back and also before lightning though.
  18. Everyone's different but my opener is affliction> creeping terror> force lightning> demolish (proc)> recklessness> death field> polarity shift> force leech> force lightning> lightning strike (proc)> repeat. Just remember to be using your recklessness and polarity shift on cool down and try use you recklessness with death field when you can and you'll do fine. I wasn't aware that it was best to wait for DF so I've learnt something too, everydays a school day.
  19. Madness is definetly viable for PvP just now I would say. I played lightning for a long time and recently turned to madness as a change of pace. Compared to lightning I find you have better survivability and can really put pressure on a single or multiple healers with your dot spreads. Gear wise you want the force master set bonus, your power and surge earpiece and implants and usual primary and power bonus relics. All willpower augments. Min/max wise I've been playing around with this and currently have dumped all crit mods and gone with power. Enhancements I'm running 5 alacrity power enhancements and 2 surge power enhancements. Seems to be pulling in some nice numbers. Not sure what others are running, it's all down to personal choice but thought I'd share anyway. Good luck.
  20. Thanks guys, I transferred last night and can't see me returning to Tofn anytime soon. I didn't win Or lose more than normal but had more pops, a lot less fotm classes floating around and the quality in the games were mint. I found a heap of folk I thought had stopped playing months ago too, turns out they had just gone to TRE. From looking at other posts on here looks like a lot of Tofn players are also switching just now. Sorry TRE lol. On a side note anyone know of any good sites where folk discuss min max pvp stats? Been googling but so far I can't seem to find much.
  21. Ok cool, is there still one free transfer for subscribers and a cost of 90cc to switch back still? May try few weeks on TRE see how it compares. Also how do I transfer legacy? Would that come if I took all my chats? And what bout strongholds etc does anyone know?
  22. I know it's an age old question no doubt but Just looking for some thoughts on both servers atm. I'm a full time PvPer, on Tofn just now doing both regs and rwz's and wondered is it worth a switch? Has anyone transferred from either server to the other and found they enjoy their current choice better and why? I'm not looking for more wins or less trolls/ facerolls. Just a decent server community to get involved with and find a big enough guild to just log in and group with whoevers online. On Tofn I'm finding most are small guilds of 6 odd friends that don't want you or guilds that don't want to group together or want you on set times etc. through the week.
  23. This won't be the first its been asked I'm sure but I just wondered what the general feeling was on how the PvP compares on the Red Eclipse both rep side and imp, not so much who wins the most cause that's a never ending debate lol but I mean is the majority of the PvP decent and competitive as opposed to being constant face rolls. Do you wait ages for reg pops at 60 and is there quite a big PvP community on this server? Reason I ask is I've returned from a few months off the game and come back to the usual experiance on Tofn which seems to have an ever shrinking population where I've been playing for the last few years. With this 12 exp boost i was thinking of levelling a few toons to PvP with just wondered if it'l be worth it. Hope I don't get too ripped for asking this haha, cheers.
  24. So I've noticed in 3.0 alota folk are now ditching their main stat augments in favour of things like accuracy and surge, obviously as a healer I know accuracy is useless to me but I'm wondering if any fellow healers have played with taking some extra alacrity or surge augments instead? Or should I just stick with my main stats as a healer. Also I was wondering what my ideal stats should be when it comes to power, crit, alacrity and surge when it comes to min maxing my gear? Sorc is my main healer so it's those stats I'm more interested in but I am levelling my operative to run as another healer so if any operative heals have any input on their stats/augments I'll happily take their input too. Thanks.
  25. Ok thanks for the feedback definetly things there I can use and change in terms of ability priorities. Glad my understanding of how I should be healing isnt totally out of date. I guess with all things it just practice and experience.
