So, I was having a debate with some guy in general chat on the Imperial Fleet. We were talking about how expertise works. He was adamant that expertise affected your stats directly, and I was under the impression that is was just a flat % bonus to damage/healing/damage reduction. He also said that it affected different classes differently. he said 10% boost to Marauder Damage isn't the same as a 10% boost to an Operative's damage. Can anyone clearly explain exactly how the stat works?

Hello, I currently have a level 50 Shadow, and while he is fun to play, I am looking for something a bit harder and more complex. Everyone keeps saying that Sentinel is the hardest class to play right now, so it looks like I will be making one. I was wondering what Spec I should be leveling as? I hear Watchman isn't good until the later levels and Focus is good but having to wait for Sweep to come off cooldown is a pain. Combat tree looks pretty fun, but how is its solo play? Should I be using a healing companion? What stats should I be prioritizing? Any info like that would be really helpful. Thanks!

Hi everyone, I just hit 50 two nights ago, and bought 4 champion bags right off the bat. Did my dailies and my week stuff. Have opened 15 bags with only a Champion Chest, Champion Boots, and Centurion Relic to show for it. So, I am just trying to make my way to Valor rank 60 (currently 45). I was wondering, does anyone have any good tips for gearing? Just PvP as much as possible to get comms to buy bags? When should I start choosing Battlemaster bags from Dailies? Should I start saving them up soon? Oh, I am playing a 23/0/18 Shadow currently. Any tips are helpful. Thanks!

Just hit 50 last night. Currently running almost all DPS gear (just got the Champion Survivor's Boots and Chest and a shield in the offhand) and 23/0/18. Was wondering if I should shoot for full tank gear or just keep the 2/4 bonus from the tank set and get DPS for the rest? I want to work my way up to a 0/33/8, so when should I switch to that spec?

Do you know where good replacements for the Accuracy mods would be? And what stats I should use?

So I'd be better off attempting to re-mod with Surge/Crit or Power/Surge?

A couple things: 1. I just went KC/Balance hybrid at 46. My build looks like this right now: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#601dcrokrskZZf0cRR.1 I'm using full 40 PvP gear, although I replaced the accuracy/crit mods with surge/crit mods or power/sure. Shield with offensive stats (idk how I found it, but it had crit) in the offhand. Should I be using Nadia or Tharan? I used Tharan as Infiltration, although we still had issues. I know Holiday is great, but sometimes he derps hard for stops healing me. I hear Nadia does a lot of damage if she gets good gear. Just wondering if I should go for faster clearing of mobs with a little downtime every couple fights. 2. When I hit 50 and start getting PvP gear, where can I find Surge/Crit mods to replace the Accuracy/Crit ones in the Stalker gear? 3. I plan on going Infiltration after I get full Battlemaster (or close to it), is Accuracy really better than Surge/Crit? Thanks.

You really need to read the balance tree. It is one of the best skills for a balance shadow.

Still looking for input on kinetic Shadows and a build for PvP.

I think the only time a purple color crystal is craft-able is from Boss drops.

I cannot seem to find a "search" function for the forums, so I figured I would make a post instead. It is a great deal of debate in my guild as to how to obtain Purple lightsaber crystals. Some people say Artificing, some say Treasure Hunting. I'd like to get a straight answer on this. Also, does it make a difference if you are Republic vs. Empire? Light or Dark? Thanks.

I leveled as balance from 10-27, as Kinetic from 27-29, Balance again from 29-40 and I am currently level 41 and Infiltration. I enjoyed Balance buy I wanted something a bit more burst heavy. I watched some videos on YouTube and decided to try Infiltration. The build I am using: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#601ZhGRRkhrbtz.1 The build I am working towards: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#601ZhGrRkhrbtzZf0c.1 I chose this for Max Project damage, to get the most out of Circling Shadows, Clairvoyant Strike, Deep Impact, and Upheaval. So far, the build is working great. Being able to spam Force Slow is fairly helpful against ranged classes, and the burst from Shadow Strike, 2x Clairvoyant Strikes, Project, and a Force Breach is pretty nasty. After I upgraded Tharan, I also have almost no downtime in PvE. I do however have a few questions: Currently, I am rolling with the level 40 "Eclipse" PvP gear (focuses on Crit and Accuracy). I do, however, have a full set of level 40 "Warden" PvP gear in my bank. At this level, with this spec, would using a Shield Generator and all that defensive gear help me at all? I know DPS Guardians who use Defensive stats and do very well, not sure if it works the same with us Shadows. Also, what are the pros to Tank specs for PvP and PvE? What is a good spec to use? Which companion is best for a Tank Shadow? I may have other questions that I think of later, which I will post. Thanks for the help!
