  1. I totally get you and understand. At least the queue for ESO is generally short. I've been playing ToR since beta, off and on as well and the changes and experiences are pushing me away. I wish I hadn't bought the pack that gave me 2 months play time because now unsubbing won't even make any sort of statement. They already got my money.
  2. Its intended because they stated before when they made their deliberate 'backend' changes that disallowed selling looted gear on the GTN, that they would come up with some way to help players still get looks they might want. HOWEVER, to my knowledge it was never stated that they were going to make the loot drops that we could at least deconstruct for fragments, etc and sell to vendors for change, be changed to where you could no longer even do that much (sell or deconstruct). I was extremely unhappy about the change to being able to sell the looted gear on the GTN nor were they transparent about that change. The only reference to it might be happening, that I could find, was something in testing notes. Now they've gone one step further, leaving you to clean up their crap that we can't do anything with, that's still dropping. Since they've gone this far, just make the old loot stop dropping and substitute those fantastic (/s) new world drops that won't even be added to the collection system. Between this and the change to conquest points for reputation increase that was stealth nerfed, plus recent poor customer service experiences, I'm just.. supremely disgusted right now.
  3. I am beyond pi**ed about this. I've been unhappy with changes Broadsword has been making unannounced -or buried announcements- since they started. Fancy new dyes (that cost way too much for a single use item) and a few graphical updates and a deleted floating bottle do not make up for major changes likes this and when its stealthed in, it makes even worse. The only reason I can see this being done is the same way others are seeing it: they are increasing the grind. Conquest was nerfed before, you were forced to earn more, cut how much you got, etc saying that people were using it to level off of it and too much exp was being granted. They put in level limits as well on what could be earned when. Now that's being cut. I don't care who is responsible for the change. Some of it was BW. Some of it is Broadsword. EA is always a culprit. What matters is that its been done and how its been done. Personally, different ways to level is always appreciated and adds a layer of variables that can help keep interest alive in an aging game with many issues. Some people use PvP to level. Some use class stories. Some use FPs. I see nothing wrong with conquest being an option either. I'll throw in one more thing, though I'll look for a separate topic on that to further expound my feelings upon... the stealth change to the loot being 0 value and cannot even be sold to a vendor, plus mostly cannot even be deconstructed for tech fragments and the like has also heightened my negative feelings. Fast approaching a 'I'm so over this game' attitude. I've been playing this game since beta and I've had a lot of good memories but they are years old and more and more frequently buried under negative reactions to the game and choices being made by those handling it.
  4. I never had an issue with this bug before, though I see it goes back a couple years. However, my luck has apparently run out and I've encountered it recently with every new toon I've created in the last few months. So, just reporting in that in July 2023, its still happening. SMH.
  5. All I can say is that I stood in Theed, on Naboo (in SWG) and watched the Rebel fleet flying overhead as the skies went black. I can't say that I'll do the same here in ToR.
  6. Happening in 2023.... but hey, lets fix the economy!
  7. And top it off with the medals, they aren't even being counted properly. I'll be showing that I have X number of medals in a match but when the match is over, it will have given me less than that. Last night, my last match, I had managed to achieve 11 medals but I only received 8 to my count. So not only did I not get credit for the extra medals earned, I also didn't get the bonus count you're supposed to get for hitting 8 or more. I honestly don't know how this is going to get fixed or improved but I don't care for the changes and it just adds to my general negativity toward the greater grinding trend that I see happening in almost every aspect of the game, not just PvP.
  8. Well, months later and its still happening. I have to wonder if they even know how to fix it. I've a gaming partner and he stopped playing for awhile. He recently returned and we've resumed our questing together. We do compatible classes and join each other on class quests, do the planetary and all exploration missions, etc together. It was never the problem it is now, in the past. Consistently, on every planet, we're running into snags where the quest will only update for one character and not the other. It happens in heroics. It happens in the planetary quest, etc. We're also experiencing having to gain quest objectives individually far more than we ever had to before. Its to the point now where grouping is creating more trouble than playing solo. That's not how this game was designed. I play MMOs to play with friends. If I wanted a single player game, I'd be playing that. It'd be really grand if this got fixed instead of just let go.
  9. Well, some weird magic happened and the launcher finally launched. I wish I could say that any of the suggestions I tried helped or that I could say exactly why it worked this time. I cannot. I opened up the launcher with the intent of continuing to try and poke at it. I didn't see if there was an update (if there was, it was small/fast). When I clicked play, it launched. Its worked every time since then and I hope it continues to work.
  10. Well, I didn't see vcredist in any of the ToR folders. I searched my drive and found it in Origins and Zenimax's ESO and a couple of other files that had unrecognizable names. I'm not going to install it willynilly without knowing more so I've been searching for threads or posts that mention it. I've found some but they are related to Steam. One without but it had no helpful answers. So, still searching for something that works and hoping for responses that help. o/
  11. I'll take a look! Thank you for the suggestion/response. This is my first experience with Win11 too and I'm not a fan. >.< But everything is fresh/brand new on the PC, including this ToR install. If those files are missing, I have to imagine that somehow they weren't included in the download.
  12. Actually, out of that, the one thing that stood out to me that I also have not tried is reinstalling Direct X. I do have ToR listed as exceptions/allowances. I can try the reinstall of that component too! Thank you.
  13. Well really, its very kind of you to post those things since apparently you think I haven't read them. I assure you that I have and I have tried those things as I mentioned above. Forgive me for forgetting to post that I also disabled my antivirus software as well. The only thing I haven't done is send in the host.developer.log because I didn't actually encounter any errors (there were no error codes or messages). It simply failed to launch. I was hoping for something more recent than from a month or two ago, as well as I sincerely hoped that the team would have a fix within such a time window. I don't have any issues on my Desktop PC which is running Windows 10 Pro but its currently out of commission, hence the use of the laptop, which I just bought, that is running Windows 11 home.
  14. I bought a new laptop and can't launch the game. The laptop is running Windows 11 and it is NOT running an Intel chip. Its AMD. I've read the bug reports, googled everything I can think of and read it and none of the suggestions have worked so far. I have: run it in admin mode, changed the compatibility, updated video drivers, done all windows updates, checked to see if I can repair files (I cannot) and even sat there clicking play whenever it lights up for over the period of an hour (because some players said it took them a few times but it finally went). I am at my wit's end with this. I do not run it on Steam. Is there any help or fix for this? I am hoping I'm just missing something stupid.
  15. Just because they didn't use the words 'mixing and matching' doesn't mean they didn't create an impression of being able to still be in whatever class you chose and use something from another class at the same time. I'm not going to debate semantics here. My point was that if they had said that it was an update allowing you to swap classes, that would have been much clearer about it. Of course it was my choice not to delve into the depths of their blogs and streams and such and I'm quite okay with that. Miscommunications happen when things aren't concise and clear to begin with. One shouldn't have to dig for clarity in business announcements. Nor is it a 'shortcoming' of my own, that I chose not to do so. You are right, there are A LOT of things people are complaining about in this update, from the atrocious UI looks to the brief story content. This is just one thing that upset some people. I'm simply saying it could have been handled better - just like many other things. I'm not ranting or raving and I'm not angry with them. Just disappointed.
  16. Yeah well I didn't bother with the articles, the dev posts, the livestreams, etc and I have no interest in doing so. Like I said in my above post, I have a love-hate relationship with this game and many times, my feelings about it weigh more towards the negative. I fully expect at some point I will simply stop returning, like I did with WoW. I feel like you shouldn't have to dig for special information when a business puts out a news flash about something upcoming. If they had simply said that they are introducing the ability to swap between different classes on the same character, it would have been far clearer than how they did phrase it and it would have avoided the negative uproar that seems to be the majority right now.
  17. I'm with the OP on this one. Its not at matching the impression given by Bioware's phrasing. I'm not saying its not useful to some, possibly even to me on one or two characters but why didn't they just plainly state that it was a class switching update? I've heard far more people state that they thought it was mix and match, in game and out, than those who said 'Oh I knew all along it was just going to be class switching'. My feelings about this game are on a constant see-saw. I have some fun, like some things and other times get super annoyed and disgusted and quit playing for awhile. It'd be nice if it was a lot less of a love-hate relationship and more consistently enjoyable for me. In the end, the Legacy of the Sith is disappointing to me, both in utility and expectation. Add all the other changes that came along with this update and the changes to the Season and I'm battling a negative experience. *shrug*
  18. I actually had an issue right before Onslought, during the Grand Galactic Sale. I was taking advantage of the sale to unlock some previously purchased sets, for my account. I spent the credits on multiple sets to unlock them but 3 of them didn't properly unlock, though it took the coins. I didn't notice it right away but I did on the Hoth Defender set and thought, somehow, I must not have clicked the button like I thought I had, so I hit it again. Fortunately the system refunded the second hit. The three outfits that never unlocked: Hoth Defender, Nathema Zealot and Diligent Engineer. (the last ones I'd tried to unlock in that group I'd done at that time). I wish to god I had taken a screenshot of the chat showing these purchases because it turns out that Customer Service won't do anything about it. I've put in multiple tickets about it and Paras (the rep) asked me to log out two different times so they could 'investigate' but never updated the ticket with any sort of conclusion. I did finally receive an email that said that if I had unlocked them, they would have been unlocked. (So apparently I'm lying because they didn't unlock). They also said that I spent 200 coins 3x and the third was refunded (which is incorrect). Even my cartel coin history shows that's incorrect. They said that can't validate on their end that they are unlocked. (Apparently they are incapable of telling what you spent your coins on.) Finally, they ended their email with any more tickets I put in about the issue would simply be ignored. So it was 'thank you very much and have a nice day but you're lying and we're not helping you'. The customer service rep would not address my questions or the points I made. They will no longer respond to my emails nor am I allowed to put a ticket in. So I basically lost 600 cartel coins due to a system glitch and how the rep handled it was infuriating. They would only say that if I had done it like I said, it would have been unlocked for the account. What do you do when you basically get called a liar? Apparently the service rep believes the system never glitches. I tried logging out and back in. I tried having the characters in who initially unlocked the outfit, etc. Nothing. And I lost money over it. On the whole, I've got a seriously nasty taste in my mouth right now about the customer service of this game.
  19. Really? That's the best sort of thoughtful response you can give? Asking for consistency isn't the same thing as 'Everything should be a pittance'... let alone everything 'I want'. If you feel no need for consistency, that's fine for you. People complained about the lack of consistency in unlock prices and that was fixed to a standard. I don't see why there shouldn't be a standard here as well. I've never liked 'popularity' pricing, not even in the real world. If they choose to set it to the highest, then so be it - at least it would be consistent and people would know what to expect. Some of the things that are sold shouldn't even require cash to unlock.. like.. say a simple sweep emote. Most MMOs give that one for free. I can see paying for things like Gree Hypergate or the Music Therapy Probe but sweep? Search? Shovel? I didn't even bring those things up but its part and parcel of their money making strategy and something else I don't happen to agree with. You might try posting something thoughtful about the content of the thread instead of throwing shade on the poster.
  20. This latest 'Spring Sale' as some propaganda painted it, isn't a sale but what's bothering me the most is that pricing for cartel items is inconsistent across the board. Stop pricing **** for perceived popularity and trying to make a money grab. The more a sour taste is left in one's mouth, the more disenfranchised one grows with the franchise and the less likely one is to continue paying for it or supporting it. While I was browsing the cartel market and simply looking at toys, it was so obvious that the pricing is based on popularity and nothing more. Some gold toys are 2400 cartel coins (music therapy probe) vs 215 coins (Orbital Kolto Strike). You see this same thing in every category. There needs to be standardized pricing across the board based on tier, just the same as it is with the unlocks. That's why a platinum tier was introduced, so that more money could be made off those items. There wasn't a need for a new tier, but it a marketing strategy. So get consistent already. Your supporters would appreciate it.
  21. Pissed as hell about how this was handled and the outcome. First of all, I do not agree with having to choose one side or the other. I feel there should have been a third choice to remain neutral. Secondly, not enough notification was given about what would happen here. My LS Jedi chose Imperial based on rewarding their support when the Republic offered none and chose to remain neutral in the fight. I was grouped with a Republic friend while doing this and our group was immediately disbanded, nor can I group with him or any of my other friends while here or do these things here. Now, I don't really care to hear other people saying 'Well that's what happens when you choose an opposite faction.' There was no indication about the mechanics changing and there should have been. I had always been able, as a Republic player, to group with my Republic friends and do things together. Now I cannot here on Iokath. Also, there was no notification that you would lose the option to have the npc companion of the faction you chose not to ally with. (Never mind the fact that what they did with Dorne was stupid and makes no sense). When we've done the quests for companions in the past, if you were about to make a choice that would cost you a companion, you received a notification first, letting you know that would happen so you could make an informed choice. That was not the case here. So, unpleasant surprises all the way around. My choices would have been different if I had known the mechanics would be changed and I wouldn't have made choices based on story (as I always have in the past, such as Torian vs Vette) but on mechanics. If I could have this decision reversed, I would have and I remain pissed off about it.
  22. I am pissed as hell about this. I just had a group of friends who agreed to try out the game with me. I'm subbed. Two of the players are brand new to the game. One tried it before briefly as FTP. The other I haven't heard from yet but they come in and they can't even chat with me unless I whisper to them first.. and as soon I group them, they can't even talk at all, not even in whispers. They feel that a game that is so restrictive for a free to play player, especially when they are referred by a player who goes back to 2011, can't even talk in group with their friends is not even worth trying out. I have to wonder if its even worth me staying as well. PS: Nor can they talk in my guild
  23. Since these are sold as part of the cartel market, they need to be part of the collection system, end of story.
  24. Compensation would be nice, no doubt about it but I don't feel its owed. I'd certainly take free stuff because I love free stuff especially in relationship to a game I'm playing. However, I do want to say that while I appreciate that Eric is trying to do something to engage people, give them something to do and help them feel better... I think that perhaps the whole code posting, copy and paste, browser refresh race tends to generate more negativity than it does positivity, due to the greater number of losses than wins. I think it'd be grand if it were done perhaps along the lines of a cantina code, where you could clink the link and redeem it just once per account, but that it was available to everyone who clicked it, for a limited period of time. Then there's something for everyone and no hard feelings about not winning the race to get something when there are only 5 winners and hundreds of losers. Just a wee thought.
