  1. I feel ripped off. I thought PVP servers meant world PVP. I've seen one since launch and couldn't attack her.
  2. Twas nightmare. Couldn't do it at lvl 25 JK. Then one time the game glitched and he stood there and did nothing. Won easily.
  3. I can't play - CTD every time. Anyone else having this problem? More people registering this issue here: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=128137
  4. Agree with OP. BW really need to say 'We get it and we're gonna get on it'. Would stop thousands leaving at the end of the 30 month period.
  5. In my opinion, SWTOR as a story MMO is a flawed idea at the moment. Many gamers came to this game because we like Bioware's RPGs and we like MMOs. Yet BW did not do anything to progress or evolve the art of story telling over KOTOR/Mass Effect. In short - we've played this game already. This is not good. Games need to refresh and evolve. Rockstar's GTA and Red Dead Redemption have progressed the format really well - BW have stayed still. So far (lvl 20 JK) I found both KOTOR and ME1 to be way better stories than SWTOR. A story based game will require atmosphere and immersion to create an effect called 'transportation' whereby the player is emotionally sucked into the story. SWTOR does not do this effectively. Their are some great immersive moments eg Coruscant and Tython but go to Taris and or other 'on rails' worlds and the atmosphere is weak. Cut scenes with 1980s pixellated planet textures breaks the immersion. Why BW made people wait till later levels to get to the big worlds I don't know. I loved the fact that SWG, EVE and LOTRO all had these massive worlds from the start. It made me feel like I was in something massive and that was was exciting and unique. SWTOR starts with the opposite and so I don't feel the same emotion. The story is too safe. I need to care about the story. Why can't we have some more adult themes? Maybe my character is tortured or mutilated. Maybe my family is slaughtered in front of my eyes. How about a star exploding destroying a solar system. Where is the epicness? Its all a bit ploddy and run of the mill. Where is the complexity? Why dumb it down? The overarching story itself is unoriginal. A war, two sides, evil vs good, Star Wars. Come on. Not all players are in their teens. Average gamer age is 30. Lucasarts keeping them too close the license here? Just my opinions of course.
  6. In my opinion, SWTOR is highly flawed and will fail without a major overhaul for the following reasons. 1. MMO's are fun and addictive because of the unique gameplay they offer over single player and other multiplayer games. It seems that weak elements being complained about on this forum are legitimate. New games should be better, not weaker than existing games. Heavy sharding and lack of endgame are just two examples. We will play for a while because its BW and Star Wars but will we stay? I doubt it. So we need a good story. But!!! 2. Many gamers came to this game because we like Bioware's RPGs and we like MMOs. 7. I agree with OP. The atmosphere in the game is dead. Areas like spaceports are like ghost towns. Guards in Coroscant even slouch on duty, wander around their post. Where is the reverb in big halls? These are serious issues that games like LOTRO and EVE didn't have at launch. Story alone does not make a great game. One has to feel a part of that story and if the player isn't 'transported' (film term) because of flaws in the atmosphere - story becomes difficult to care about. This isn't true for all the areas. Tython was good.
  8. I think its because I've played almost every voiced BW game that I'm over the same formula!
  9. Whilst I like a bit of speech, I feel the long dialogue in non-class quests a bore. Can't BW spice things up and make the characters funny, weird or just say only two lines for small side-quests? There are so many combinations of how to use interactions simply not explored. Its the same formula nearly every time. ~
  10. Surely the planet textures in the cut scenes can be fixed to be better? Kinda kills the immersion when I see such a terrible looking texture. Anyone got a mod?
  11. btw, average wait time said 1 hr 20mins. its been 1 hr 20 mins and still 400 people ahead of me. This can only get worse.
  12. True, IMHO. Its a WOW clone. Which is an understandable strategy 4 years ago when the decided to make SWTOR. But things change and now we've played WOW we want something new. Bioware thought that voice and story would be the new thing - but we already caned that to death playing their other games. They need to make this game sandbox - no two ways about it.
  13. Yep. SWTOR - had to be done but its a stop gap before Bethseda enter MMOs or the next big thing. I just wish they hadn't have abandoned Star Wars post-ROTJ. So much to explore there but it looks like that idea died with SWG closing.
  14. Stuck in an epic wait to get into your server? Tell us your thoughts of the game. I've played a few MMO's and this one has been the least exciting opening. I first tried as a Smuggler and was instantly unimpressed. I tried again as a Jedi Consular, that was immediately 10x better but I could not stand my character's tone. Finally I tried Jedi Knight and the game came alive. But poor textures, unoriginal gameplay and server delays are issues I can't ignore. Does SWTOR make up for it? Almost. I'm taken in by the Knight's adventure - its on a par with KOTOR 2. But I am concerned that the gameplay has a single player experience feeling to it. I'm wondering really how long I am going to play this game beyond the end of the legacy quests. So far, LOTRO and EVE were way better at this stage. What does SWTOR do better than other games or MMOs? Time will tell.
  15. I'll be playing myself (waiting for freakin' email).
  16. I'm looking forward to PVP but RP PVP - will that be too serious? I prefer the naming restrictions but sometimes people would stay in character on the chat in LOTRO. That was weird. Or that just serious RP'ers?
  17. Seeing as there is only one RP-PVP server in EU. What do people see as pros and cons for this way of playing SWTOR?
  18. I'm thinking of Lord Calypho coz its RP-PVP which means the best community and greatest challenge. But given I've never played on a RP server before, can anyone tell me if its likely to get too serious. I kinda like the off topic banter in PVE servers. See you in the game!!
