  1. "Baron Heimer von Dinkelhoffen" Baron = title Heimer = first name von Dinkelhoffen = surname thus, surnames do have spaces in the real world, but not in the Star Wars universe, apparently. I understand why they don't allow spaces though. Imagine these legacies on the same server: von Dinkelhoffen vonDinkelhoffen von'Dinkelhoffen von_Dinkelhoffen von-Dinkelhoffen vo nDinkelhoffen fon Dinkelhoffen von Dinkel hoffen von Din kel hoffen ...etc... The point of the legacy name is that it is supposed to be unique.
  2. You got the "primary stat" right. However, endurance is the number 1 stat for any and all classes really (not just for tanks, as you say). I play IA Operative. Cunning will make me do more damage, and it will make me heal more. But I can't do any damage if I'm dead, and I can't heal anything if I'm dead. So since endurance makes me not die, Endurance is the number 1 stat. Cunning is 2nd only. For most people, the primary stat should be fairly obvious, since most of your quest gear is aimed towards this stat and also the PvP armor that is class specific etc. But nice of you to write a guide for those that didn't notice the hint.
  3. I find this really annoying too... Is it unique to Swedish keyboards, or is it always the key to the left of number 1 / just next to F1?
  4. Yeah, it's there alright. Under the General tab. Don't know why I didn't see it before. I also found the quick pass to space port skill, which I didn't see before either. Do they only pop up after level 10 maybe?
  5. I guess you're on a lower population server than me. I rarely find nodes while questing. Usually only around 02.00 - 06.00 at night, then I can find quite a few. But usually I only find scavenging nodes.
  6. Hmm. OK, will try that. But since I'm trying to work it as a healer, I have my companion selected, so spotting his casts and getting the interrupt there will be difficult... I'll give it a shot though, thanks. EDIT: Interesting. Even though I'm healing specced, winning that fight almost required me to ignore healing and focus on DPS + interrupts. A bit boring to be totally out of options like that. But thanks for putting me straight, wasn't difficult at all when interrupting his skills.
  7. OK, I'm hoping that the ones answering this won't give away any spoilers for others... I'm having trouble with the lvl 30 boss fight in the class quest line. You know, aboard that space station... Tried it at level 29 with all different companions, but failed miserably. If I try to DPS then I just get knocked around unable to do damage, and if I send a companion in then I'm not able to heal him/her fast enough. So I tried it again at level 30, but only tried with Vector, since that seemed to work best at lvl 29, and only tried going the healing route (well, all my tree points are in healing too). But I failed again. One of the times I tried, I got him down to like 10 health, but he killed me before I could finish him off (Vector died long before that). So I'm wondering... Has anyone taken him down with DPS tree? Is it worth going back to the Imperial Fleet to respec? Or should I just go to Alderaan and gain a level? I'm just thinking if I suck really bad at healing and need practice, then this boss fight may be a good place to learn until I get a hang of it. But if it's just impossible to heal through at lvl 30, then I don't want to waste my time. I only have green gear for me and my companion, from quests etc, so I guess I could go to the GTN also and pick up some stuff... Not sure how much that helps. Suggestions, anyone?
  8. ^ This. Since the kits are 3 items in a pack, preview doesn't work. But they look rather similar to the icons, so you do get an idea of what you're choosing. Seriously though, you will pick up green gear from mobs like 30 minutes of gameplay after you get those kits, that is better. So unless you want to gimp yourself, you will not hold on to those items very long. Just accept that you won't get to select proper gear for your companion until you find orange items that you like (i.e. social vendors on some planets or the GTN).
  9. Can't say, but it's a lot more than the vendor price (which is the common way to determine value of items). I put stuff up for the suggested price, and it sold within a minute, so I guess it is set lower than players expect it to be (fast sell usually means the price was too cheap).
  10. Anything Alienware is pro. I've got the M11x R3 myself, loving it. Just that the screen is a bit small to play games, but I guess you have a regular monitor to hook up externally. Since you can configure it differently, your gaming experience will vary. I've got the SSD for fast loading times and lots of RAM etc. But even with the minimal options you should be good to go.
  11. This guy either got a stationary computer and an Alienware on the side, or he got totally ripped off by someone. I've got an Alienware M11x R3, and it runs SWTOR fine. And my Dell XPS 17 should be roughly equivalent to an Alienware M17x R3 and that runs SWTOR on highest possible graphics without issues (I have to reduce resolution for 3D though). OP: if you really have an Alienware computer and it's not running maxed settings lag free, then you need to check that you have installed the correct drivers.
  12. I've done all the quests I could find, except the Heroics. I've been playing odd hours, middle of the night, only 10 people on the same planet as me... So I never bothered to try and find some company. I did finish one or two Heroics solo, but most of them skipped, and all flashpoints skipped. No PvP, but I did all the space missions at least once. Currently, I'm level 26 and heading for a level 28 class quest on Tatooine. Usually, the quests I do are exactly the level I am, but it seems right now I'm slightly under-leveled. Then again, I'm Imperial Agent, so I stealth past a lot of mobs instead of fighting them.
  13. Healing XP??? You get XP for things other people kill only when you are grouped. The only reason to group is in flashpoints or operations. You can let your companion kill things while you heal them. This will not work well in the beginning for a bounty hunter, since Mako is also a healer... So you need to wait until you get a different companion (lvl 30 or so?) If you do PvP warzones, you get rewards for healing as well as doing damage. I haven't played any warzones myself though, so I have no idea if you get XP for healing.
  14. I'm a Chiss. Couldn't find it there, after looking twice. I'm probably just blind, I will look again next time I log on.
  15. I have been looking through all my abilities, both passive and active, and I just can't find my racial ability... I wanted to try and quickslot it, but I just can't seem to find it. So... Where is it?
  16. One slicing mission, cost 1000 creds, failure. Next slicing mission, cost 640 creds, success, yields 900 credits. Time for both slicing missions: 20 minutes or more. Net result: -740 credits Questing and killing mobs for 20 minutes at ~lvl 20: + 5'000 credits or more. Slicing is not the magic recipe to get rich quick.
  17. Same rules for making money here as in every other MMO: Don't repair your items unless they are yellow. You will recieve new items through quests and drops anyway, so repairing is just a waste of money unless it's lvl 50 raid gear. Always loot everything. Don't leave a single thing. Sell things you don't use to vendor. Kill more things = make more money. You will always gain a lot more money from killing things than your repair bill can come close to, even if you die a few times. Don't die! If you die, your equipment breaks before you get a replacement and you have to repair it. If you die a lot, you should be doing lower level content. In this game there is also the crew skill "Slicing", as others have said. I'm up to around 220 in slicing on my toon, but I have to say I make more money faster by just killing mobs and selling trash loot. Selling things on AH is worthless, unless it's blue or purple items. Putting up green items is a waste of time. Just sell it to vendor and go kill more mobs, that will earn you credits faster. Orange items are of course best on AH, but probably not right now. Orange items will be a lot more expensive as more people have leveled up, so I'm holding on to the ones I find until later to make more credits. I'm lvl 21, and I have 24k credits saved up and I've used 30k+ on equipment and stuff. Not counting skill upgrades, I've never checked what those cost. But I've never had an issue with money in this game, and I just follow the simple rules above.
  18. The next thing they will bring in regarding ships is a guild-ship where you can gather. After that, I hope they will start bringing in some customizations for ships, both for interior and exterior. Not that I'm complaining; I'm playing IA who has the nicest ship ever.
  19. I found one on Balmorra when I got there. It had all the ones you could choose for free in the lvl 10 quest, and then a few more (only starter companions). Cost was around 12k credits each, and I think there were 7 customizations available. For Kaliyo, it hardly seems worth 12k credits just to get a different set of tattoos/jewellery. But I'm thinking Khem Val could probably benefit a lot from that vendor since he can get different skin color etc.
  20. Cat fight! Anyhow, the affection you get from quest answers is like -2 for the really bad answers to +80 for the really good answers (quest total). And you can easily get +40 affection if you give your companion a cheap (<100 creds) gift. So I think it looks like the way to go is to just answer whatever you feel like in quests, and then buy lots of gifts.
  21. Yeah, problem with good games is, everyone wants to play them... Anyhow, saturday night 19:00 and only 15 minutes queue to my server, that's not too bad.
  22. With high affection you get: - Bonuses to 2 specific crew skills (2 different for each companion) - Unique quests (for example, romance quests etc) Not sure about the faster missions or crafting. Never heard that one before, but it's not unlikely. The crafting bonuses I know of are like +10 to a gathering skill or +2 critical on missions. But it won't stop you from doing anything, they will never leave, your game will just not be optimally efficient.
  23. From polls created at the beta: Average age is higher on the empire side. More people play on the empire side. Both of these poll results (if they hold up in live as well) should make it easier to find mature players on the empire side. But... There will be immature players wherever you go. Just make good use of the ignore function.
  24. This. Default max distance is something like 16 % of actual maximum? In the beginning, I took a taxi, just to be able to zoom out more (zoom out while riding a taxi and it sticks after you get off). But then I discovered the option in preferences to increase possible zoom distance. Not sure if it was added or if I missed it, but it's a great feature.
  25. Doing server maintenance on a few servers at a time would be close to pleasing everyone. If they had a schedule for individual servers, you could choose a server where the maintenance schedule suits you best. Then again, that would only work for updates that are server-side only, since it wouldn't be very good to juggle two versioins of a client. But still... it would have worked for this update.
