  1. I like that you spent all the time leveling a character from 10-50 of an AC you didn't want, rather than spending the 2 hours it takes to get a new warrior up to lv 10

I must suck at PVE because it takes me 7 - 9 hours to get to level 10 and not the 2 hours that you can do it in

I had planned on rolling a Knight later so it was not going to be a total waste of time. It just forced me into the Jug & Sent over the Knight & Rauder that I wanted. Of course having the Rauder or Sent 1st would have been much better for me ;)

I just felt that this was BWs way of saying that they were not going to accept more OP-SPEED-SMASH players at that time... It kinda pissed me off so I let him sit while I played my other toons but decided to try him out. I wish I'd known back then that they were 'tards and had no intention of balancing their game any time soon

  2. I guess that I own all the Merc and Op dps players an apology…

My 1st class was a Merc and I guess that I played it so well that the nerfed the crap out of us every patch since launch. Sorry…

Then I played an Op and face-planted people left and right so this class was nerfed into a small dog that has to hump big legs. Sorry…

I moved on to a VG to try a Pub and finally play an OP class. Only, I mostly played a tank version so I wasn’t that OP and this class didn’t get a big nerf.

I started a GunS but stopped around 1.3 when they got nerfed a bit. Since I have stopped playing this class they have been buffed to useful most of the time and downright scary-good at times.

I tried to roll a marauder but when I chose my class at level 10… I MYSTERIOUSLY got a Jug instead. I tried to get EA/BW to reverse their obvious mistake but they always blame the customer. So... I leveled him up to 50 figuring that he could still be an OP-smash guy. Of course, I got happy playing the tank style so He is not that OP at all.

So this is where I gave up on EA/BW ever balancing PVP… EVER!

I converted my VG to hybrid-pyro and rolled a Shadow and a Sent. I fully expect VG/PT pyro to be nerfed next month as my VG is burning a path of destruction. Shadows will get decimated by a huge nerf in 3-4 months. It will take me a bit of time to finish leveling and grind gear. Then, FINALLY, in about 6 months… My Sent will get the nerf they deserve. Sorry, Sorry & not really Sorry at all.

  3. So... to summarize: PVE gear of the same level has higher main stats than the equivalent PVP type.

eg: PVP armor may have 39 str, 39 end & 50 expert where the PVE armor may have 65 str & 60 end.

Because expert has no benefit in PVE you have wasted stats stacked on your equipment.

There is no penalty for the PVP set in PVE but you are not getting the full benefit of the PVE alternatives.

  4. I'll just go show this Thread to all the Operatives who have knocked me down and took off 3/4 of my life before I even stand up.

Assins are much stronger than Ops and they have a longer knockdown that they can use out of stealth.

Ops only attack my Merc twice alone. They attack the 1st time and I kill them. Then they attack a second time to make sure that I can kill them repeatably and I can. Then they either leave me alone or bring friends.

Maybe having an Op helps me understand how to defeat them. You just basically have to outlast their initial burst. Unless I am at 50% health or less when they open up on me they are gonna die.. even the good ones.

It is sad but the Op is the easiest spec to kill right now... even for a lowly Merc.

  5. Nothing makes me want to destroy everything in the room more when I get knocked down by an Operative and get made into a pin cushion (really more of a sword cushion because that thing is no knife) than the sound it makes.

    Nerf Operative stabby sounds.

Move on... old complaint... More people die while choked than while face-planted by an Op.

BTW... The Assin/Shadow has a longer knockdown and can be used while out of stealth if specced.

As for the sound... I LIKE IT :)

  6. Because if you don't keep up with the gear grind you will still be toast IF they ever fix the class. They are counting on us at least tryin to finish our dailies in order to have enough easy smash-targets out there to keep the low-brow subscribers happy.

Also, Some people dont play enough to have multiple level 50s with good gear. If they made the mistake of starting with the Merc because it seemed cool and had a good story... then EA **** on them.

My 1st main was a Merc-dps. They nerfed that to useless. I made an Ops-dps. They nerfed that to intolerable to play. I gave up on my GunS after they got nerfed around 1.3 (I think). They later buffed them after I stopped leveling it. I started a Jug and a Shadow and am having a bit of fun there.

P.S. My guess is that Jugs/Knights and Assins/Shadows will soon be nerfed hard and that Rauders/Sents will be buffed again...

  7. They should START by making cloaking screen actually work as they say it does!!!!!!! CS is supposed to IMMEDIATELY exit you from combat and enter stealth mode becoming virtually undetectable for 10 seconds. What a joke. Over 50% of my deaths occur within 5 seconds of using CS. A lot of the times my opponent never even stops firing at me. It is like I never disappear from his target so from his point of view my once in 2 min ability did nothing. I can only guess that there is a lag problem that discounts CS over being attacked again??? I know the Rauders ability works fine because I have to re-target them every time they blink out and then finish me off. My Force Cloak seems to work fine for my Shadow as well even though I hardly ever have to use it because she can actually live through a solid fight. Only on my Op does CS seem to be "bugged". They should add a 4 second immunity timer to CS where you can not lose stealth for that period.

The SECOND thing they need to do is undo the timing nerf to enter stealth. What a terrible joke they played on us. We have to wait a full 6 seconds to enter stealth after killing someone even though we are no longer in combat. STUPID!!! I end up running around like a fool hoping no one notices me so I can use my PRIMARY ability and actually enter stealth. Either remove it again or lower it to 3 seconds. 6 seconds is an eternity in PVP.

THEN They can review the plethora of things that break stealth. I use TS right before I CS but there are so many things that break stealth it almost seems better for then to remove stealth entirely and just give us heavy armor and defensive abilities. I mean come on... Toxic Scan should not break stealth. It is not like we are running around in stealth and doing nothing but cleansing our teammates. It is on a 4.5 second cooldown you know.

Finally, They need to review all the things that keep us in combat. How many times do we stop fighting and slip into a nook somewhere to heal up and enter stealth only to stand there and feel worthless waiting for a long time to exit combat? I wish I had recorded some of the times where I am not close to anyone, purposely did not use a DoT on anyone and have no DoT or debuff on me but still stayed in combat for >15 second. The worst part is our DoTs last too long. Corrosive Dart should last no longer than 9 seconds, not the 15 seconds that it does. The opponents timers need to be shortened as well. The TTK has been lowered now so that 15 seconds in PVP is two lifetimes.

  8. Ya ugly is right about them just changing where certain abilities are. I am glad I have all 8 classes though as I'm sure some super OP build is going to be created!

EA will see what classes had the highest unsub rate and make that class the new FoTM to try and bring people back. They don't care about pissin off the current subscribers because if you haven't left yet then you probably won't for any reason.

  9. If you can't kill any healer in a 2v1 situation- either a) you are terrible, or b) you are playing a terrible class.

I can kill any healer 1v1 on my marauder, no contest. My PT is getting there, still way behind on gear- once I get the gear up I doubt I'll have any issues. Sins can rip healers apart especially with propar use of CC immunity, and snipers can destroy anyone in seconds...

I've seen a Merc and a Rauder chasin an Op healer around mid in HB for >15 second before she got back to her group. I don't think they ever killed her.

  10. There's some mezz which breaks on damage, but there's an animations your char "recovering" from take damage and breaking the mezz, this is stupid.

There is an ability (Assin or Sorc I believe) where if their mezz breaks early by damage it automatically rolls into a short stun. I believe that is what you are seeing. All other mezzes simply break on damage.

  11. Okay, first of all, let us PLEASE discriminate between stuns (loss of character control, does not break on damage, no longer than 4 seconds) and mezzes (loss of character control, does break on damage, up to 8 seconds).

Glad you said it so I didn't have to... Basically the OP didn't know how to say it but what he is wanting is to have all stuns converted to mezzes. I do not agree because hard stuns are important to the dynamics of any game. The fact that stuns are basically half the time of a mezz balances them as being unbreakable by damage. You could argue though that the durations are too long because pvp ttk has been lowered. It is probably better to lower them from 4/8 seconds down to 3/6 seconds against strong target like we pvp players should be considered. And AoE stuff should always be lower than single target at like 2.5/4.5 at the most.

Of course, in a 2v1 it doesn't usually matter whether you're stunned or not... you're going down one way or another. But same as with stealthers, people feel better when they at least have a fighting chance. Stunned all the time till death? Sucks. Killed from stealth in under 6 seconds? Sucks. Killed by a stealther in a 20 second fight, where you both were stunned for 4 seconds? Still isn't great, but you could actually DO something during the fight.

This is at the heart of most frustrations in this entire game. Being defenseless just sux soo much. Being able to fight back even in a certain loss should be guaranteed by the Constitution. I will add that the stuns by stealthers are waayyy over-exagerated. A tanky class can stun you for much longer and even kill you faster now than the poor wipping boy Ops. I can not count the number of times I have died under the control of a choke for example.

Then it's important to see how resolve affects each of them. 200 resolve is gained for each second you are stunned, and 100 resolve for each second you are mezzed. This means that you can be stunned for a total of 8 seconds under normal circumstances before your resolve whitebars and you become immune.

This is another point where the designers messed up. They believed that mezz should not build as much resolve as stun. The reality is that if you are out of control and incapable of acting, then resolve should be building at the same rate regardless of why you have no control. Say you are stunned for 4 seconds so you build 800 resolve. So, if you are mezzed for 8 seconds you should build 1600 resolve. It is the defenders point of view that matters. If you are mezzed for 8 seconds but it is broken by damage after 3 seconds then it should only build 600 resolve. There are many other irrational problems with resolve (like a small knockback builds a lot of resolve but a slow to 30% builds none) that they will eventually need to fix the entire system. I just don't think they have the combined brainpower of a small kindergarden class so this will probably take a while.

  12. I see off healing as too good considering it's off. Either your dps should suffer or your healing should suffer, you shouldn't have enough healing to keep yourself alive even if you are being concentrated on by 2 full dps targets and then be able to deal damage equal to one of those targets. Why is balance such a problem in this game? Why do certain classes not suffer from trade offs?

75% of the time you stop fighting and try and heal... you are out of combat.

Everyone heals very good out of combat.

If you try and heal as a dps spec of a healing class while in combat, you either get interupted/killed or you get mostly healed and are completely out of energy or racked up on heat. So, IF you actually do get to heal, you are pretty useless until you get resources back.

  13. That's like asking for healers to stop pugging or respec to dps.

    You can not guard yourself...

If you could, it would make guard less of a group benefit and more of a single class balance problem.

Healers should be able to heal themselves some. BUT... Too much is out of balance.

They need strong heals in order to fullfill their role in PVE. PVE would not function without full spec healers. PVP also gets group benefit from strong healers. Allowing them to use all those strong heals on themselves just makes them a class balance problem.

EA nerfed the crap out of simple heals to try and bring healers in line. All that did was make the other spec lines crap.

EA has a 70% chance to totally make the wrong call in any given circumstance.

  14. An off-heal spec character can not even out heal 1 dps. Basic heals with dps choice of form is actually very weak. You can stand there and do nothing but heal yourself and dps will still burn you down quickly.

On my level 50 Merc/Pyro: If I use Medic EWH pistols for 108 points of alacrity, spend 2 points into Sys Cal to get 4% alacrity and 2 points into Med Tech to cut 1/2 sec off Rapid Scan, It still cost me 25 heat and takes 1.85 seconds to cast the basic heal of Rapid Scan. It only heals for about 2300 health. So I can spen 7.4 seconds and heal myself for about 9.2K before I run up my heat. That is assuming that I don't get interupted or have my abilities pushed back. That is barely 1 smash and 1 scream which take less than 2 seconds and doesn't even burn all their rage when specced smartly.

If anything... Off-heal (basic heal) needs quite a bit of love.

Now If you are talking a fully specced healer??? then yes. I have seen fully specced healers out-heal 2 average DPS opponents for quite a while. If anything, the large healing options need to be restricted to groupmates and not allowed on selfcast.

  15. Having played 2 of the 3 off-heal spec lines and all 3 of the tank spec lines it is obvious that EA blew the setup when they were handing out picnic baskets during the planning stages. Most people agree that off-heal has practically no utility and tanky stuff has too much.

There are a lot of nerf and buff threads out there but most seem to follow a trend: buff Merc/Op/Sorc or nerf PT/Jug/Assin and equivolent Pub versions. The only outlier is the Rauder/Sent which is the most obvious nerf needed in the game right now. Step 1 is deciding what picnic baskets each class should have. Only then can we balance classes with small nerfs and buffs.

My 1st thought on buff Merc/Op/Sorc is to give them 1 of the tanky classes' things. Either taunt or gurad. As a Merc, I'd rather have taunt. But taunt seems more suited to tanky things to hold aggro. Guard seems like a tanky thing too but it really doesn't have to be. PT/Jug/Assin have it now but there is little argument that it couldn't be a fit for Merc/Op/Sorc instead. Giving the off-heal specs guard would identify their role better as heal/guard. There would be reasons to add these dps classes to a group. Say 1 tank, 1 pure dps (Rauder or Sniper), 1 pocket healer/dps for guard and 1 healer. Better balance and everyone gets to contribute.

My 2nd thought on buff Merc/Op/Sorc is to give them some kind of immunity. There is so much cc in this game but the off-heal spec got the granola bar picnic baskets. I do not want more cc for them but I want more immunities for them. Say Mercs are immune to roots: They are listed as "mobile" fighters in their descriptions. So give them some mobility. They can not jump, pull or run really fast so make them immune to roots. All the time, not just for 4 seconds. They would not be OP because they are still subject to 75% of all the CC stuff still. Then give Ops immunities to stun. They are more hardy by nature and that fits them. My worst problem as an Op is all the roots and slows out there because they die very fast when held in place. Then give the Sorcs immunities to mezz. They have strong minds and should not be happered by mezzez. All 3 would still fall subject to most CC but have a bit more survivability which is what they need.

My 3rd thought is to give them something new (not OP but helpful to the team). My thought is a debuff. There are already a lot of debuffs for damage, movement and accuracy so I would give them something like "enfeeblement". An AoE ability that reduces the chance to crit for opponents to zero for 15 seconds. This would not be OP but would give them something to add to a group and a bit of a boost in 1 v 1.

My 1st thought on nerf PT/Jug/Assin is to remove guard. I would hate it for my toons but they would still have taunt. Taunt and guard used together from 1 source is actually a bit OP. Spreading them out to 2 separate classes would not be a problem. It is only a slight nerf to tanky peoples group play and does nothing against them in 1 v 1.

My 2nd thought on nerf nerf PT/Jug/Assin is to weaken some of their CCs. Do They need an additional interupt for pvp when their jump/pull/choke/push/... act as interupts already. Let them keep it for PVE (maybe) but not needed in PVP. Then remove some of the duration from non-tank versions. Should a rage-Jug have a 6 second AoE mezz? Instead, make it a 3 second AoE mezz for standard Juggs and then give the tank tree an option to extend it out. Things like these here, but baby steps, not by cutting stuff off.

Then nerf the crap out of Rauder/Sent.

If they can balance utility 1st... (BIG IF). Then, and only then, can the small tweeks actually matter.

Thank You for reading this :)

  16. Does anyone know details? or does the Hutt Cartel mini Exp have anything to offer for pvpers? I would personally like to see arenas or maybe just skirmishes in the future (might be to hard to balance in the game so thats fine if its not added) I would just like to know where pvp is heading.

It will become just as popular as WarHammer online

  17. That's not what service tickets are for. I'm glad they ignored you.

    OF COURSE NOT!!!

There should never be a widely recognized problem like this that goes on in the 1st place.

We pay money for this. If I did my job like these guys do... I would have been fired long ago.

How do you recommend that I contact them to resolve the problem???

  18. Have a $3000 pc and never lag on max with 100 fps see spec in spoiler. I don't even stutter on fleet with 4 instances of fleet on my server. I can Guarantee it some thing to do with just your pc's configuration. Notice i did not say hardware. Most people run good hardware to play this game. Like a friend of mine paid 2000 for a gaming pc lagged every were. Told him to format his pc get rid of his old windows install and do a clean install guess what? His 2000 gaming rig now is lag free. So can a computer companies install apps that can make you lag yes they can or we install apps that cause lag. When some one tells people it your setup people fly off the handle and say it not are pc's it's faulty code. All i can say in that instance is hardware is hardware. The same NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 runs the same for you as it does for me.

roflmao... people who come on here and blame lag on other people's computer are as silly as Marauders chiming in and telling other people to l2p.

I have a GTX570 vid card. As someone recommended up above, I have an ssd.

I also have a RoG (gaming ) laptop and experience lag on that as well. Do not have any lag in WoW on either.

I am not arogant. I have asked EA for help to determine the root cause so If it was something I COULD fix... I WOULD!!! They have so far IGNORED me.

There is something inherant to this game or the way they handle information back and fourth that causes lag. It could have something to do with my provider (maybe) but they say all is good (it is cable so quite fast and stable). I would get them to fix the problem if we knew it was a network problem but EA will talk to us... :(

The funny thing is... After every major patch, I remove SWTOR and reload the entire software and that definately helps for a while. But after successive small updates their software stops functioning right.

  19. Is Hickman the one from DAoC who let that game flounder until WoW kicked its azz???

The same one who helped create that other game that no one plays anymore...

He is the one that people rely on for advice about Ops

Maybe I'm wrong... I sure hope so.

BTW... I miss DAoC... Wish they hadnt let it die.

  20. The really sad thing...

The problem is only getting worse. They must have laid off the wrong people.

Each new patch creates more problems than they fix. There is no seamless integration.

I cannot see this game getting any better and that is sad with the potential that this game had at startup.

  21. Not pointing anyone out specifically but it seems to me no one wants to admit that the lag might be on their end and insist that EA or Bioware needs to fix it. I'm guessing this after seeing hundreds of lag threads throughout the forum...

Side note, more money doesn't mean a better computer.

Not goin to mention names... but, I work at a plant where we make processors and chipsets.

I think I know what equipment to buy.

AND, like I said, I have put in 3 service calls to see if they could help. They aperantly do not want to help...

It is something in their system or in some of their servers...

A company who blames their customers for their poor product will not stay in business long:rolleyes:

I will add that I see it a lot more on my Op than my Shadow... not sure why but if EA doesnt want to talk about it then how am I supposed to know???

  22. My previous computer had to run SWTOR on low settings, and even then I got lag.

However I recently got a much, much better computer and I can run SWTOR on max settings with barely any lag.

So it does have something to do with your Computer.

I have a $2000 gaming computer built just last year. It is a water cooled i7 with 16G ram and whatever the $350 video card was at the time. I upgraded to a docs 3.0 modem and bought a new highspeed router. My cable service provider has checked my connection and all is good. I have no problem with other MMOs or streaming video.

I do not believe it is lag on my part but that of the other users or EA itself.

I have put in 3 sevice calls ingame to ask iif they could check my system for lag as compared to other users. 2 were closed with no feedback and the 3rd is being ignored right now.

    EA sux some serioius *************************************************

  23. These designers must be evil people... How many of your lives are better now for having played this game???

They purposely try and maintain unbalaced designs so that you maintain hope.

They will never fix this ****, they want you to feal like change will be coming soon.

The only change will be to make todays champs tomorrows chumps and you silly people will eat it up.

I just wish that I had spent the thousands of hours on a different game...
