  1. I've come to rate again for the fourth thread, I'm pretty sure every Bioware employee knows about this thread now. They must be quaking in their boots. I'm starting to think that no MMO designers can come close to wow's combat because the guy who made it must have been a genius or something. Someone should give that man a Nobel peace prize asap. Or get him a job at Bioware 'wink' 'wink'
  2. Everything on that list is spot on. tick tock Bioware, time is running out.
  3. Disgusting Bioware. No money left for moderators huh? Too bad.
  4. um no, we're just given you our opinion just like you're giving us yours.
  5. Ding Ding Ding, we have a winner! thanks for the reply to my previous post xcore, you've done an amazing thing here so don't feel dishearted. The longer this thread goes on the more attention it will get and ultimately the more MMO companies will take notice. So let's get this to thread 100!
  6. I hope future developers of MMOs have finally realised that combat is the most important aspect of why a customer subscribes aslong as he/she does. Once all the content is gone, the combat is all we have left. Judgeing by Biowares reply in this thread it's obvious that these issues are majorly linked into the hero engine itself. Like someone else said, if it was easy to fix the combat flaws it would have been done. The truth is they cheaped out by using the heroengine so they could spend all the money on quests and planet design, the latter being lackluster at best. It's time to move on, even if they fixed the combat 'lag' the game would still feel clunky, slow and boring.
  7. I can tell you what's wrong with the game in one sentence, the combat. It's stale, boring and old. Just like Grandpa
  8. yeah, that and their engine is so unoptimized that is can't have more than 200 players in one shard without the framerate reducing to a crawl on even the highest end PC's.
  9. Showing my support again, haven't posted since thread 1, lol. I can't believe how poor the combat is in a game they've spend over 100 million on, it completely baffles my mind. Most MMO players will tell you that combat/gameplay is the MOST important factor for an MMO's success, but you're telling me not one BW employee mentioned this when you were designing it? Forget about ability lag for a second, the gameplay as a whole is absolutely abhorrent. No amount of fixes could make this game acceptable to play, even an enjoyable way, let alone competitive. Tbh none of this surprises me, there's a video of SR showing the first few levels of the Sith warrior on Korriban, he died doing the very first Sith trial in the Tomb of Ajunta Pall. Maybe if the developers actually played their game to an acceptable skill level, they would have seen where they went wrong by using the slow and outdated HeroEngine.
  10. Let's not waste their time getting them to fix pointless things like that. They need to sort out the FPS issues, countless bugs and the general unresponsiveness of the combat and UI first and foremost. Controlling my character in this game feels like walking through wades of syrup, it's driving me insane. I've no doubt this disgusting gameplay is intended though. sigh.. FIX IT, tick tock 20 days to go Bioware. A mass exodus of players will leave.. *taps fingers* muahahah
  11. I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of players suddenly cried out in terror and flocked back to WoW. The only way for Bioware to come back from this is to pubically fire their combat designers on the front page (with mugshots) and put another 100 million into a revamped combat system that they can roll out in.. say the next 20 days. I don't see that happening, do you?
  12. +1 I cancelled mine a few days ago. Hopefully they'll make the combat more fun and exciting so I can return. It is a huge shame for me also as I have been following the game for years.
  13. +1 but it's futile. The combat system needs completely revamping for it to ever play without all the ability delay and countless bugs. This is the part where BW puts their head in the sand and hopes the casuals that haven't noticed stay subbed. They won't address this because the issues we're complaining about are part of the engine mechanics as a whole and not an isolated bug issue.
  14. combat is awful. Not only is it straight from 2003, it's bugged to high heaven and most most abilities don't even go off when you need them too.
  15. i'm level 29 now and i'm already starting to lose interest. Don't get me wrong, the quests and content is superb, but it's the combat that keeps me interested long term and in my opinion, you've really missed the mark here Bioware. You'd expect a lightsaber wielding sith to feel fast and vicseral as you cut people down but it's the polar opposite, slow, boring and most insulting of all.. extremely buggy. I believe this is more than a simple 0.5 second ability bug, it seems to be inherant to the combat design. Don't you think they would have fixed it otherwise? Dissapearing casting bars while using an ability, the horrible 2 second pause just before someone dies and turns grey. All this stuff was straight from Warhammer online, I'm pretty sure it's a copy and paste job.
  16. Exactly, Bioware think people will stick around for voice quests and other content, wow has millions of subscribers yet most of them skip the quest dialogue to get right into the combat. Can you imagine what swtor would be like without VO? it would be warhammer online with star wars skin.
  17. btw guys do this, mount up and then summon your companion by clicking the portrait in the bottom left corner. Watch your fps take a dive.
  18. Also having this problem, I really expected more tbh. It seems they spend all their time and resources on content and somewhat overlooked the most important part of an MMO, combat.
  19. I agree, it is very slow and unresponsive. I hate to say it but it feels very much like Warhammer online.. I had a feeling the combat would turn out this way, MMO developers have had a very hard time trying to replicate WoW's combat. Many have failed over the last six years. I'm going to play for my free month after which I will no doubt get frustrated by abilities not working when I hit them etc. Then I will get Skyrim! and give up on MMO's for a few more years. Unless of course BW improve it - but I doubt that.
  20. A combat log Chat bubbles A slicker UI that doesn't bug out every other ability, casting bar not showing up etc. 1 second global cooldown - Combat is too slow, don't give me that ToR is strategic BS because it really isn't. it's a hotkey spam MMO, so it needs to be fast to be satisfying. Alien races (though a bit late for that) - I know you think people want to be the Brad Pitt of the star wars universe but trust me, they don't. They want to be fat trandosians and smelly Mon Calamari's, and who can blame them. Better optimization, fps the same on high and low settings, framerate dips, stutters on the highest end machines. The game is unplayable for people with the minimum requirements. Competitive pvp system, instanced and world. AA - when you leave things like AA out of game it only confirms peoples suspictions that EA pushed you to release it unfinished. Other than these things I'm enjoying that game and want to see it succeed. The graphics are amazing but I feel the combat will get old fast. score - 8.5/10
  21. no OP, you've got it the wrong way round. Graphics = Great Gameplay = Poor Hopefully it will get better with time.
