  1. It is a difficult position, in the sense that ultimately one will never hold the authority to dictate any changes upon the character of another player without their consent. But the other side is that it is generally poor form to move your character into a position that their status would require others to act, and you then brush them off. Very much like the person going as a non-trained force sensitive within the Empire and brushing off the draconic enforcement that force sensitives trains to become -sith-. In the end, you learn from experience which players you can deal with and which will respond "No, I refuse! Stop oppressing my RP!" As for species and cultures. It is a very difficult topic as few cultures are developed to any real extent within Star Wars, in the official source material. And even within that there are cases of blatant contradictions and retcons depending on which author writes at the moment, or era the story takes part in. And the Zabrak example is pure fan-creation from days of Star Wars Galaxies. Only unified, consistent and official cultural aspect to them is their tattoo's are cultural, rather than biological skin patterns.
  2. In addition to those places mentioned above, House Organa on Alderaan, the cantina on Hutta, and some of the bases on Ord Mantell sees frequent use too. Tatooine's is used almost daily by groups of RPers, but their locations I don't know, varies greatly depending on hour and guilds involved, though the cantinas in the cities with the starports are expected.
  3. One problem with marrying is this very era. The war before the treaty had lasted 28 years, and with the treaty signed, both sides were mounting for the inevitable return of the war that have launched gamewise. Jedi are growing up, living and dying with the war against the Sith. Attachments to other Jedi to the extent they desired to marry means the Sith have ample opporunity to kill one and twist the survivor into the dark side.
  4. If you're looking for one on the Republic side, there is Clan Terrik. On the Empire there's a Clan Vizla (Who I think are a RP guild), and Scarlet Mercenaries have a heavy focus on Mandalorians I believe. Now I know there are more Mandalorian clans on the Empire, I can't remember the names of more sadly.
  5. Being a roleplayer on Progenitor since launch, I still find the server filled with people and groups, and more RP than I'll find myself able to pay attention to. People are spread out here, and that's it. Still look at it like this, there's a english, german and french RP server in Europe. Population numbers differs, languages differs, cultural mindsets differs, and in all honesty, many people are LAZY. Rather than stick and start up RP, operations or pvp teams themselves, people are prone to change to another server where someone else will do it for them. Different communities would be the short answer. Diversity is good for those that wants it
  6. This is a amusing, but also sad topic, which many, and above mentioned poster may take out of context. The server isn't dying, anyone who's played on a RP server in any other game that died can vouch for it. A guild having a set of standard doesn't make them bad. Many conflicts stems from joining a guild that promises their members something a person never sought, or other way around. "I want to be a dark side using jedi with romances and stuff!" A Jedi guild isn't for you then. But let's get into that topic a bit further, as it's quite amusing. I have been called so many things in mmorpg's so one could think I was the devil when it came to roleplaying due to highlighting to a person they were contradicting or breaking the lore of the setting. I've sugar coated it, said it objectively, blunt, etc etc. If a game have a setting, do not get angry with people pointing out you're not playing according to it. We all start somewhere, and mostly when we start, we don't know the setting or lore fully so we do errors. Best way to learn? Get told you're doing wrong. If the case so is that you're well aware and just don't care about the lore, fine. Just explain it and go your diffrent ways if you will not agree, but don't blame others for wanting to help teach or direct new people. (Yes, some can be rather rude about it, but this is online and if that is a bother with how people respond here, grow thicker skin.) And if the server is so bad, the origins of many if not all other roleplayers in mmorpg's eludes me as I've yet to see a more mature community overall. Of course, every community have trouble makers, and mostly they fall in a typical age group and approach to characters, that is just how it is. For all people playing on any server and a conflict arises, In-character or out of character, simply swallow your pride, and take a polite tone out of character, and start a dialogue that isn't a fight.
  7. The Allusis Academy unfortunatly did not last. However Salan is currently in http://lostpraxeum.enjin.com/home and we are a good alternative as both guilds had the same approach to Jedi RP. While we're currently not recruiting (recruitment will open in time), you are welcome to approach us on Tython on the progenitor in the evenings. If you find it hard to break into the RP, just give one of the members present a whisper that you're interrested in interracting a bit and they'll see what can be done.
  8. Well this won't be easy to formulate without it coming off as nothing but a rant, but Burst-Laser Cannons. Does anyone else find their damage and power level off the charts? Capturing, they're flawless for the scouts. You can easily evade good enough to get into range to shoot down the turrets in 1-2 shoots each while still dodging around the satelite. Someone gets too close, you just turn and can shoot anyone except a gunship immediatly out of the sky with 1-2 hits. And up and coming death match, where dogfighting in groups without a satelite to capture. They will continue to wreck. I see decent pilot score up over 20 kills in a match due to burst laser. I don't know a way to balance it, or how to properly adjust the stats on the weapon, but surely a discussion towards that end can be had here?
  9. All those concerns can be noted down to one single aspect that every mmorpg have had to deal with WHENEVER there's been a new MMORPG coming, successes and failures. And that is hype. The game is overhyped and while a big part of my guild took the weekend to try it aswell, not a single one is even willing to play that game due to the game designs of it and the approach the developers are taking. Now if you're concerned, I can understand you, but this is something we see regulary, and have seen, and will continue to see. Besides Star Wars holds a larger pulling power than Elder Scrolls (Yes, Skyrim hyped it up a great deal for the current kids and teenagers, but most of those demographics arn't the ones that sticks to a game regardless, nor invests the same amount of money into it.)
  10. Don't often go to respond to threads on the official forum, but this idea I feel I should respond to. Any ideas on this level of magnitude are best to approach carefully as the fallout when they go wrong can tear guilds apart and fracture a entire server community in the worst case scenario. The idea of a PC staffed Jedi Council is not valid or functional beyond the involvement of a select few similar minded guilds, and even then it's best to approach carefully as people outside it can see it as a few people trying to gain influence or control in the server and they often launch their own counter project to cancel you out. But if the idea still appealing, go about it in the style of a smaller specialised council consisting out of the leadership/officer(s) of a few allied guilds with similar views or stances IC and OOC'ly to minimize the risk for conflicts. And make it certain for anyone you're approaching or approached by in the name of the entity of guilds, is that you're not in any sense an official or direct authority beyond the involved guilds, and you shall not infringe on those that dislike the notion or will kindly just do their own thing.
  11. This thread had me wondering a bit. Those who labels this a single player game with mmo-content, what exactly is a mmorpg for you people? Alot of the complaints I read here, I don't see. Maybe I been lucky with only encountering 5 bugs in the game. (2 light ones, 1 delay of talk animation, 1 of weapon not sheating properly and a few unuseable nodes). I seen worse scenario's in games that has been out for years, rather then a week or two. Or so much single player content? Feels no diffrent to any other game I tried for the past 7 years. I grab a quest, I go do it. Some are done solo, others arn't. So in the end, I can't guess on my own here what people expect a mmorpg to be?
