  1. I didn't realize that 1 post indicated that the Devs only care about PvP. ****.

I was simply countering a blanket statement with an obvious exception.

Perhaps I'm mistaken but content development and bug fixes seem to be more for the PvE side of things but from the outside looking in class balancing *feels* like it has more to do with PvP than PvE (unless we're discussing what they might consider "unintended" advantages in their newest Operations.)

  2. It is truly wishful thinking to believe that the developers do anything primarily with PvP in mind.

Considering their entire statement in regards Sents/Marauders and the need to buff or not was based on success rates in Ranked PVP, I would beg to differ.

  3. I'm interested in starting to get involved with End Game. I've been playing since beta, have 30 toons over three servers but up until now have simply done leveling. I'd love to get to experience some of the Flashpoints and any Ops that I've never seen. Starting work on gear grinding for my Operative Healer, it would be great to be part of some organized grouping!
  4. If you're finiding leveling difficult at 1-20 it's because you're not grinding/doing side quests, not getting your new abilities, or not equipping better gear as it becomes available.

When I first started playing this game (my first MMO) I thought the same thing about the Shadow and Sorc stories. I was more concerned with completing the story quests as quickly as possible and would avoid trash mobs because I simply thought that was efficient and intelligent. I didn't do many heroics because grouping was problematic, I was a noob and many folks saw that as a reason to berate me, what few that were actually on planet in order to make those groups. The game felt like a bit of a struggle but I just assumed I needed to learn more.

After leveling a few characters I came back to the same story lines and approached it in the manner of trash mobs and side quests are part of the leveling process. Throw in some actual grouping for heroics taboot and suddenly everything was a cakewalk. I blamed the game when I simply wansn't playing it as designed or good enough to do it "my way" even though some folks are.

If you enjoy the gameplay you'll figure out ways to make content friendly by approaching it slightly over leveled or over geared , finding like minded folks with which you do enjoy grouping, and ignoring the idiots that invariably exist in any public experience whether it be a game or going to the mall.

At any rate. Have fun whatever you decide to do!

  5. I'm not into PVP much at all. So generally these roles arent much of a consideration for me. However, i can see the need for them. They give, in theory, a clear idea of what you should be doing in a fight. They allow people to take on the role. Its also stops people complaining about never being able to do the other guys job in a battle. If you are a healer, you heal and help when necesary. And so on... They are not old, they are tried and trusted methods of giving people a purpose in a battle. If you just have everyone pilling in you are just hack and slashing and hoping for the best. There is no tactics.

Tank, DPS, Healers. Even as a roleplayer who doesnt enjoy PVP i can see why they still function.

I would think that PvE would require more defined roles that PvP?

  6. Happened to me a few times last night.

Was in the middle of a FP Tanking and suddenly I can move but no abilities are being triggered. Look down sure enough got the red X.

I've been rock solid all Winter until the last couple days.

Hate it for the other members when that happens.

  7. Any time I see this I always think of Taurgrim's guide for keybinding. Only uses a standard mouse and standard keyboard.

    http://taugrim.com/2011/04/07/guide-to-strafing-movement-and-keybindings/

This is a great place to start if you want to learn and the nice thing is that this setup will work for most every class with a couple of tweaks.

I'm not there yet because I'm still playing casual content to blow off steam but one day I'm going to force the issue and see if I can really up my game.

  8. Its a glitch when you get knocked through the ramps as opposed to off them. You can get back out in 2 steps.

    1) Target someone in the group by clicking on their portrait in the group window.

    2) Then type /follow

It should pull you up out of the pit and you should be on your way. Someone will have to be around that area for it to work.

Interesting. I haven't tried this command. How well does it work for say... not getting turned around your first time in Story Mode with the group?

  9. Until GW2 launches. Then everyone but the Fan-Boyz be gone for good.

So it will only be fans of the game that are left. That sorta makes sense.

Personally I'm happy to play along and let things work themselves out here. I'm just not sure I can go back to a non Sci-Fi universe.

  10. He has the curse that a lot of classes with stealth has while leveling: Sneaking past mobs instead of killing everything in sight.

    That's why you're only 41 in a 44 area.

I made this mistake with my first Jedi Shadow. I hadn't really figured out just how much XP I was missing by not grinding the mobs. You do have to embrace the grind if you're not going to do any Space, PvP, Heroics, or FP's. It just seemed too cool to slip past the boring stuff to complete the mission.

I still made the mistake of not leveling my Crafting with my last few Characters... Oh well live and learn.
