A few points come to mind about the xfer to US servers.
1. It is disappointing that they aren't being honest about the real reason. The Aussie servers aren't financially viable. I feel sorry for Eric Musco (who seems like a good guy), but is obviously being directed to toe the EA party line.
2. Sadly, this means that no MMOs in the future are going to risk localised Aussie servers. It looks like low ping wasn't that big a deal to ANZ MMO players or more people would have moved across from WoW etc.
3. I'm sure they've done the estimates already and worked out that savings from closing the Aussie servers > sub losses from ragequits. So waste your time if you want ranting about it, but I am reasonably confident they don't care.
4. One advantage of being part of EA is that their corporate rep doesn't really take a hit from this move. Not when they were already a contender for worst US company.
I'm staying subbed and will see how it works out. 300 ms ping is still > Pandas.
