  1. The link to the patch notes in the OP appears to be broken. It has an extra "%22" character at the very beginning, and is missing the : after http. Edit: Sorry, I see now that others have already pointed this out.
  2. Also, I am not saying whether this is right or wrong on the part of the developers, I am just stating what seems like the state of things based on my observations. The dialogue over class balance is good, and it is things the developers need to hear, but it needs to be tempered by reasonable expectations. If the game continually fails to live up to your expectations, it may be worth looking into other options.
  3. In a nutshell...yes. Saying "it isn't built to actually have people play" is a very narrow view, though. Serious PvP and serious progression raiding represent a relatively small part of the content in the game...there are a lot of things that qualify as "playing" that do not involve those things. It can be hard for some people to grasp, but a lot of people (perhaps even a majority) do not have any ultimate goal that they are striving for when they play...they don't have any concept of "winning"...they just play. As long as there is something for them to do to pass the time, they are satisfied. I may be wrong, but from my experience, those people represent the majority of players, and those people seem to be the core target audience for this game.
  4. I tried really hard to care about the plight of the sorcerer DPS, but then I read this thread and completely lost my sympathy. I just don't see anything here that sounds any different from any similar thread from any MMO that I have played. When it comes down to it, this game is just not built for "serious" PvP or for "serious" raid progression. That's just not the target audience. There are MMO's out there that are built for those things, but this is not it. I see an effort on the part of the developers to try to satisfy some of that, but the players who care about "serious" PvP or "serious" raid progression are in the minority, and the development priorities do not seem to align with what that minority wants. Perhaps it is a problem of expectations. Perhaps some players would be better off playing a different game. I would love to see this game gain in popularity and I hate to see it lose players, but it's not the game for everyone.
  5. (font returned to sane size) Between the two pictures linked, there is clearly a difference in the brightness and/or contrast settings. You can see this easily by looking at the lights on the ceiling behind the character.
  6. That is a lot of typing. You keep calling it "theft", but whether you intended to or not, you gave him permission to take the items. It is not theft.
  7. I am fully in support of Bioware taking no action in circumstances like this. You learned an expensive lesson. Don't let it be for naught.
  8. No, it ended right at the time it always ends on the last day of the event.
  9. Some of the items are okay, but the the ones that cost 240 or 600 cartel coins to unlock a single item? That's just too expensive for me. The information leading up to this feature indicated that the cost would vary based on the rarity of the item, but that it would be a small fee. 600 is nowhere close to a small fee, in my opinion. I personally will not be unlocking any of these overpriced unlocks, and I encourage others to do the same. I can only hope that the prices will be reduced at some point in the future.
  10. And therein lies the problem...people think their ability to speak (or type) gives them a voice, but it doesn't. The only voice you really have is the one coming from your wallet.
  11. I was just being facetious. I will say, though, that I would rather avoid making adult decisions wherever possible...
  12. What I want to happen is for other people besides me to keep buying MORE Cartel Coins, then buy a whole bunch of stuff on the market, and fiercely compete with each other to sell it to me on the GTN. That is a win all around from my perspective.
  13. I don't think the worry over players bashing each other has anything at all to do with why cross-faction players can't whisper back and forth. I think its only this way because that was the accepted standard in the industry, and I think that became the standard in the industry to make it more difficult to have a "mole", so to speak on one side whispering his buddies on the other side. Of course, with the advent of various voice chat services, the whole thing is kind of a moot point. I definitely agree with being able to /e cross faction...I have no idea why that wouldn't be allowed, except as an oversight. I don't think we should go so far as whispers, though...at least not over long distances. Maybe if they could come up with a way that you could whisper an opposing faction player if you were within a certain proximity, I could support that from an RP perspective. But, the idea of whispering opposing faction players from halfway across the galaxy...I don't think it adds enough to RP to be worth the consequences.
  14. When faced with the choice of whether or not to grow up, how many of us would actually choose to do so? That's why I play games...so I don't have to grow up.
  15. If there is anything I have learned from living in the real world, its that shady and unethical practices always win. This whole "good will triumph" crap is pure fantasy.
  16. That completely misses the point, though. Though the original wording did not specifically state as much, the implication was that subscribers would not only have access to all current character creation choices, but to all future character creation choices as well. When you advertise a statement like that, the consumer naturally assumes that it is true now and will continue to be true for the lifetime of the product. Changing the advertised benefits of being a subscriber means that now when we look at the list of subscriber benefits, we have to add "...until we decide to change it" to the end of every advertised benefit. That does not instill confidence in the product or the company providing it. Is it legal? Yes, I believe it is. Is it ethical? That is a matter of no small debate. Does it inspire loyalty in your paying subscribers? No, absolutely not.
  17. But that is exactly what is going on. A bunch of people have observed sequences that appear non-random, and they assume it is because the entire system is non-random. But, in any random system, especially one with so many samples, it is inevitable that many people will experience this phenomenon. I'm not saying that there isn't a problem, I'm just saying that no player's experience, or even a handful of players' experiences, is sufficient evidence to prove that there is an issue. It just doesn't work that way.
  18. They posted the conversion rates and the caps well before the update was released. If you lost commendations as a result of the conversion, it is your own fault.
  19. That is correct...now you only get credits from completing the daily missions. As far as I know, there are no more credits for the bonus objectives or for completing the space missions themselves (outside of the dailies). I think this is in response to a rise in the number of people who used bot programs to run through the missions for them, without the player having to do anything at all. Because the space missions are scripted, and the timing is the same every time, the only randomness at all in the mission is what the player does. That makes it a very tempting target for botting. Rumor has it that a lot of people have been banned for this (though Bioware does not disclose those sort of details), but that hasn't stopped more and more people from trying to do it as an easy way to farm credits. So, instead of engaging in a war against botters, they opted to minimize the impact of botting by removing the incentive. That's the running theory anyway...Bioware doesn't discuss this kind of issue, for good reason. It is a smart move on their part.
  20. I was playing around with some Space Missions last night, looking at the achievements for completing bonus objectives, and it seems like some of them are just not achievable. Am I missing something, or have some of the bonus objectives tied to achievements just not been implemented yet? For example, on the mission "Aetan Defense" part of the achievement says to "Destroy Republic Frigates". But, the republic frigates don't seem to be completely destroyable. I have blown up their engines, shields, all of the guns, and there is no red targeting reticle when I mouse over them...they just sit there burning and are never "destroyed" like they are in the newer heroic missions. I never see any kind of bonus objective listed on screen to destroy them or anything either...it is only mentioned in the achievement. I have had a similar experience with other missions, like one (can't remember the name) that says "Clear the mine field" and "Decimate republic fighters", but during the course of the mission there is no indication that either of these is a bonus objective at all, and nothing I do seems to have any affect on them. Is it because I have only been doing the daily version of these space missions? Do I need to do them without taking the daily mission(s)? Or have these new bonus objectives just not been implemented? What's the deal?
  21. One concern that I have is that it seems this is opening up a way for people to "grief" each other by intentionally trying to log into someone else's account and failing a number of times, resulting in the account getting locked out. Currently, the only way to re-enable the account is to call customer service. I, personally, don't want to have to call customer service to get my account re-enabled over and over again if someone decides they want to pick on me. That would be enough to make me not want to play this game anymore. Are there any plans to address this scenario?
  22. That is a good point. Undeniable proof doesn't seem to be possible without some Dev confirmation. If you haven't, I might suggest writing a very detailed example, such as a list of the specific items sold, approximate times they sold, and which ones you did not receive credits for, etc, then put this into a ticket that is not a Bug Report...they never respond to bug reports. If you have already done that and they still have not responded...well, that sucks.
  23. If I sound like I am trying to troll or flame, I am genuinely sorry. I just want to see more concrete evidence of an issue before I am willing to believe the issue exists. If you have anything more concrete, I would love to see it. Even better, I would love to see a Dev response to this thread...but somehow I doubt that will happen.
