  1. IF Guild Wars 2 delivers on the same scale as this game then I will be doubly disappointed, first by BioWare and then by ArenaNet. If that is the case I will simply wait for Blizzards next MMO, Blizzard rarely make mistakes if at all on their game releases. Having said that I have followed GW2's progress avidly and i can't see them failing. I'd be surprised if they did.
  2. I only got to level 24 and another level 13, hardly rushed at all and i am completely bored of this linear mess. Sorry but you're wrong if you think you have to rush to 50 to not like the game.
  3. SWTOR was always going to be a filler for me until Guild Wars 2 arrived. I didn't count on SWTOR being as average as it is so I will only see the first month, I honestly thought I'd get 6 months at least out of SWTOR. Not going to happen. GW2 will definitely be the next big MMO, I am genuinely sorry for BioWare because I do like them as developers but this game missed the boat.
  4. /facepalm. Seriously man it can't be difficult to understand can it? I will type slowly for you so you understand. ONE planet in TOR could be the equivalent in size (or less) of ONE continent in WoW. WoW has Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor, Northrend, Outlands and soon to be Panda Land which are all massive. A single planet in TOR could be even 2/3rds the size of any one of those, comprised of various 'zones'.
  5. I originally said in my post on page 5 or 6 that SWTOR should have made their planets more interesting to feel like a planet not a single large zone which is how they come across right now. One planet could be approximately (give or take) the size of Eastern Kingdoms comprised of various 'zones' with a different theme/feel but blend together nicely. I would rather 4 or 5 planets based on what I mentioned above at release, with other 'planets' added as content releases or expansions. You don't need 16 planets that feel like 16 different instanced zones.
  6. Um its supposed to be a PLANET! Do you realise how big a planet is? Even from the movies you would only see an extremely small portion of one planet. The rest of a planet could be anything at all. Its completely in the hands of a game/art/environmental design team to come up with ideas on how different zones could work planet. You could have desert, rain forest, jungle, ruins, industrial, swamp ... absolutely anything the 'creative' team could come up with. To say one entire planet must have the same terrain throughout is absurd.
  7. LOL yes brilliant design from the BioWare lads! Wow, just wow. Getting schooled by a 7 year old game with 1/3rd the budget. Even when you have 7 years of absolute detail on what your competitor has done, what works, what doesn't and you go to that sort of effort?
  8. Sigh. Did you really just type that? Lets take Eastern Kingdoms for example in WoW, it is made up of approximately 25-26 different zones, they all have their own terrain and their own feel. Westfall, Duskwood, Searing Gorge and Eastern Plaguelands for example are on the same continent. Do you honestly think they look similar? Are they made up of the same terrain? Srsly.
  9. I wasn't in Beta, I don't believe in spoiling a game I intend to pay for and play by being part of Beta, each to their own though. I don't hate it. Thats pretty harsh but i am disappointed by it and will not subscribe past the first month. Even with fixes I wouldn't continue as they aren't going to or simply cannot fix the boxed in linear design of the game that is my major gripe with it. Thats the design they chose, it would be a good design for a single player RP, definitely not an MMO.
  10. I'm not asking for 16 planets if they were on a scale that size. The 'planet' should be exactly that, a planet. Not some half a**ed 'zone'. Game should have released with 4 or 5 planets with others as content releases/expansions.
  11. I'd very much disagree with that statement.
  12. While leveling you naturaly follow the quests you have available. Quests in this game do not even become available until you have completed others, so the boxed in linear feel is so much more prominent in this game than it is in any other I have played.
  13. Ok fair enough, so why didn't BioWare make the personal stories for each character linear, yet leave the 'world' to be more open with quest hubs as World of Warcraft does? In a comparison to WoWs layout I would much rather have had one seemless 'world' that was approximately the size of Eastern Kingdoms not one 'world' that was approximately the size of Westfall.
  14. Thats just it, WoW IS NOT a sandbox game but has nowhere near the linear boxed in feel this game has. Why? Why can Blizzard pull it off but BioWare fail so badly?
  15. So why does WoW feel so obviously different? The OP is absolutely correct, it is why I cancelled by subscription after reaching Naa Sharddaa, I could see the writing on the wall already. i am willing to bet the rest of the 'planets' are made up of the same design. No thank you, extremely disappointed in this game. Such a waste.
  16. Another example of poor game design. Bad game is bad.
  17. They will soon be rivaling Warhammer Online as the fastest MMO to lose those subscriptions, the fact that many of the Warhammer developers made this game is not lost on me.
  18. What will they be doing in 7 years? Leveling still?
  19. Yes, to play Skyrim not this mess.
  20. WoW is not a sandbox game either but it has an open feel to it, thats where TOR failed.
  21. BioWare should have made the main story line linear as it would pretty much have to be. The rest should have been sand box with open worlds, now that would have been a better design than the overly linear game we have now.
  22. I could not agree more with that comment OP, well said and absolutely correct. That is the one major flaw with this game.
