  1. Here is the difference. You don't want to play a movie so to speak, and for this you have the option to space bar through it no? Where as the companion nerf is an entirely different situation all together. On top of that sure you can threaten to cancel just as many have because of the nerf. That is fine, and as you should because its your right to do with your money as you will. The difference here to is at least BW has given everybody notice well in advance that there is intended changes coming again. On the other hand with the great companion nerf they told everybody the day before the patch went live. Also to make matters worse when the outcry of this nerf turned negative they tried to cover it up by brushing the angry threads under the carpet. Just go check the off topic threads that used to be in general chat. You aren't wrong for your sentiment and neither am I, but BW is wrong for not properly testing retesting and fielding a patch that was well balanced. In the end you and I are only the paying customer and I don't feel anybody should lash out at each other for that. Especially when the game has become less enjoyable for both now.
  2. I like your post. You addressed something that I felt should have been stated a long time ago. Both sides are guilty of branding game play styles. I always felt that the truly elite were just that. They are very good at the game, and are patient and I always envisioned them as the silent ones. (obviously as you said some are jerks) but there are casual folks who can be jerks as well. I feel your approach to dealing with this is how I deal with it as well. I am a middle of the road kind of game style. I can be casual at times and other times I can be just as hardcore (or elite) as others. In the end I just want to enjoy the game. Sometimes I prefer to solo, while others I prefer to group. At the end of the day it comes down to preference. This is why I will never post a thread posing the kind of question that has been asked in this thread. I understand fully that every player is entitled to play the game however, they wish. Nobody will ever change that. The sooner both sides of the street realize you can't force somebody to group with you or just be solo the better this game will be. For the sake of saying it lets be honest. BW fudged this one up. Its clear they didn't test this. Its clear they didn't use their own player base in a controlled test environment. Its very clear that this patch has divided the community. BW has managed to piss off both camps in this respects. Now folks are spending more time arguing, then playing the game. TL:DR I agree with this post here, and think we all can agree BW messed this one up.
  3. Its not what you missed. When you're being subjective on a topic like this and weight it in favor of your own opinions it literally invalidates what you are trying to do. it appears you tried to be objective with what you thought were facts, but you instead injected ad-hominem definitions against those who do not like the nerf. Frankly people like you don't understand the real issue with a nerf like this. While I can and do fine after the nerfs, I preferred the easier solo content after work. I reserve weekends for my hardcore play. Before you say I am some type of casual, I play EQ 1, and 2 as well as FFXI and FFXIV currently as well. I manage two guilds, and am a raid leader in a third. SWTOR is (was) my escape When I am on overtime due to my job, I like to get home and just chill. When I want to do hard content (in swtor) I will do FP's, Ops and such or PvP. The casual content was nice for a change, until the nerf happened. I think what a lot of you fail to understand as well is it is not just casuals leaving the game. I am a founder and also was in closed beta. I have played MMO's like most of you for a very long time. My first being UO. I also played SWG before the great NGE Nerf when becoming a Jedi was very difficult, and perma death was a thing. You might ask why I give you a bit of my background? Its to validate that I am not some squishy gamer. I actually do enjoy hardcore content. FFXIV I am currently running Savage mode on all content. EQ 1 I am currently on the time locked server. Same for EQ 2 I play on the time locked server. FFXI I just dabble as that game is getting old. Many of you label those who have issues with the nerf as complainers or casuals or L2P types, but just a few weeks ago many of you were voicing your opinions about the companions being OP. Look I am just as guilty as the next person when it comes to trying to support what you like. However like others have said, this literally was a skanky nerf on BW's part. Its only fair for those who are unhappy to point that out just like all of you who pointed out just a few weeks ago that they were OP.
  4. You really just don't get it do you? Read the guys post again. He was very clear on why it became an enjoyment to him again.
  5. Because there is an achievement that says you can.
  6. Been with the game since day one and still here...so nah your wrong.
  7. You don't read very well do you. That's ok, I'll remind you. In my post it clearly states that I will not be leaving what part of that didn't you understand? Also to be clear I understand you said "if" Edit: I just don't think those of us who are staying should be laughing at those who leave is all.
  8. You won't be laughing in less then a month when the servers are a ghost town again. Laugh it up now.....but people really are leaving. Six of my friends just informed me this evening in mumble that they are un-subbing. While I will stick around and continue to test...I am not going to laugh in the faces of those leaving because it will in fact hurt those of us who do decide to stay in the long run.
  9. While I don't agree with the way the OP posted the guy kind of has a point. He/she and many others are posting a lot the anger they have since the patch. Its going to be difficult for BW to recover from this one I think. It reminds me of the implementation of the NGE. Sony didn't listen to us then, and now BW is following in their footsteps. As for me, I am still testing so I have no thoughts in terms of what I will do yet.
  10. Not techincally saying it is, just saying it feels like or kind of looks like I suppose :-)
  11. That was how I felt about it as well. I was kind of wondering if this was an introduction to Dagobah in a round about way.
  12. Its actually not impossible at all :-) Just ask Square Enix. They rebooted FFXIV from the ground up to include the game engine. Its never impossible, however, does BW want to take that leap off the ledge and upgrade their systems.
  13. Is it just me or does The Endless Swamp feel like it could be a Dagobah? Granted we have not seen anything to indicate this other then the look and feel of the location. Any thoughts from the gang here on the forums?
  14. Whats the point? Chapter X: Anarchy In Paradise. When they told us about this new expansion they said there will be constant updates with new content. From what I can see in my quest log now...more is coming. Second I am working on my alliance. I happen to like that aspect. While I understand you may not see a reason to stick around I do. You say "Content that doesn't keep people for long is a failure from MMO standpoint, no matter how good this content is on itsself." You should say content that doesn't keep you for long. Secondly for this new model from a MMO standpoint isn't just happening in SWTOR. Most MMO companies are shifting to this model. Case in point FFXIV, WoW. They are all shifting to this new ideology. Hell at least here you can choose to space bar. In FFXIV you are gated behind the gated content until your eyes bleed.
  15. Returning player here: Came back during 12X took me a week to get to 60, took me 12 hours to get to 65. I didn't spacebar from 1-65. If people are telling you it takes 12 hours 1-65 then I am not sure how they are doing it that fast.
