  1. And just for good measure: 3132.56 http://www.torparse.com/a/492248/time/1384370205/1384370505/0/Overview And since someone suggested that it might be an issue that in the link above I clipped off the end of the fight past the 5 minute mark, here's the full parse for that fight: http://www.torparse.com/a/492248/8/0/Overview. If you clip the end off leaving the first five minutes, you'll get the parse above. Same vigilance spec and gear as before, except that I swapped out my power crystals for critical crystals. Looks like I need to fix my signature. I did this on my toon Thran Kuro. As you might have guessed from my forums handle.
  2. Fair enough. Here's a 3017.93 http://www.torparse.com/a/492191/time/1384367211/1384367511/0/Overview that's in vigilance spec with mostly underworld gear/72s, and a few 78s.
  3. That's seems like a lot of detail to read into what's in the post, which only refers to representing all specs and to remarkable parses at discretion. Whether mine is remarkable is a matter of opinion - but I do notice that for all that I am 10 points behind third place on the leaderboard, I got there with far fewer crits - 27% vs. 38%. So, I'll certainly continue to parse, but it seems like at this point I'm chasing a lucky streak on crits more than anything else.
  4. http://www.torparse.com/a/491722/time/1384323921/1384324221/0/Overview Vigilance spec, 2973.21 Surely that buys me an honorable mention, no?

  7. I'd like to see an extension of the class story. But what I'd most like to see are: 1. customizable personal space - our ships would be one way of doing this. But think SWG housing. 2. minigames. We have all these damned casinos. What for? Give us Pazaak! Give us dejarik! It's a bit dull when there's really nothing at all to do but combat.
  8. I always thought the loyalty rewards in SWG were a nice touch. Every three months or so, you got a gift. The longer you were around, the higher the tier. And so, there was no currency, no vendor, just a nice thank you. They were little odds and ends, decorations, toys, that sort of thing. Though in some cases they affected stats by granting buffs, like the little mynock pets and things like that. All in all, I'd love to see some form of this, as well as some form of many other things from SWG, brought into TOR.
  9. http://www.torparse.com/a/468353 Same spec and gear as before - vigilance, etc. 2820 for the first five min of this fight. And thanks to Rydarus for some suggestions.
  10. I can't speak for pvp, but at least in pve I find crit useless. I've been running a lot of parses lately on the operations dummy, and I manage about 150-200 dps less when I use a couple of crit crystals and an implant with crit instead of power. I do better with all stat items using power exclusively, and with surge or accuracy as the tertiary stat. Please, no alacrity. Shudder
  11. I haven't really had too much trouble with this encounter. A few suggestions: 1. positioning. Position in the middle to start. As you progress and fewer nodes remain, always reposition in the center of gravity for the remaining nodes - IE, not necessarily back to middle of the zone. 2. Move IMMEDIATELY when the node lights - delay is a killer. If it's still giving you trouble: 1. respec into the skill in the tank tree (I forget the name) that gives you a movement boost when your guarded target is damaged. 2. Focus target a more mobile friend, and have that friend head quickly (as with scamper or force speed, or something similar) to the active node. Then, just guardian leap to him. Make sure your taunt is fresh. 3. Alternatively, if there's a sage in your crew, he can use rescue to yank you into position. Since I think the CD on Rescue is a long one, tactically, it might be best to use rescue when there are 3-4 nodes left. So, imagining a diamond pattern created by lines connecting the nodes, tank would stand in the middle of the line between A and B, and Sage on the line between C and D. If the node that lights isn't one of the two the tank is closest to, sage yanks, and then tank scurries along. If left with three nodes, tank stays on the midpoint between two remaining nodes, and the sage stays close to the third node.
  12. So, I've now done an ungodly amount of parsing. In vigilance spec, geared in underworld (with a dreadforged implant and a few 78 mods and armorings - belt, bracers, offhand), with a 4-piece set bonus (2 vindicator/2 weaponmaster), and with might stims and the occasional adrenal, I am hitting a pretty reliable 2660-2670 on the operations dummy over a five minute fight. Sometimes I am higher, sometimes a bit lower. My sense is that this makes me a fairly average representative of the class. ISSUES: The immediate problem I see in these parses is the same every time: long dry spells on Master Strike. If Master Strike is procing, my DPS is higher, AND my rotation is smoother. But if MS isn't, then not only is my DPS gimped, but I am also being pushed into a more chaotic non-rotation where I am either looking for a focus generator or looking for something other than strike to attack with. But that is only the most basic issue. As others have pointed out before me, the master strike proc is just too low for a spec that is ENTIRELY built around it, both because the actual chance to proc is low, and because we have only two abilities - which are themselves on long cooldowns - to even buy a chance at a proc. And, when we focus on PVE and raids, additional significant problems with master strike crop up: 1. Stuff moves - in fact, most bosses are mobile, whether because they won't sit still or because the fight mechanics require the tanks to move them. This presents a considerable challenge for vigilance guardians that the proposed PVP-informed change will do nothing for. 2. Although "uninterruptable," Master Strike is actually interrupted all the time, via stuns, knockbacks, and so on. Now that every NPC and his momma in raids has at least one stun/kb, again, the vigilance guardian's core DPS ability is almost entirely negated. 3. Damage is backloaded - sort of an intensifier to points 1 and 2: because we have to stay still as the boss moves away and because the boss will often stun or knock us back before we finish pathing Master Strike, not infrequently we don't get to actually finish the path, and so the utility of the ability and the DPS it actually puts out is reduced even more. So, what to do? RECOMMENDATIONS: 1. Raise the proc rate on Master Strike considerably or tie it to all damage-dealing abilities. Our proc rate sucks, and the abilities we have for a chance at the proc are too limited AND on long CDs themselves. Because we are uniquely reliant on this ONE ability for our major dps output, if anything, our proc rate and/or spammability of proc chances ought to be higher than average, not merely average. (keening/dispatch helps, but sorry, it's not a fix for a spec that is built entirely around MS) 2. lower the standard cooldown on Master Strike. As noted by others, our CD is among the longest, and we are uniquely reliant on this ability. 3. Ditch the 2.5 root, and make Master Strike mobile. Let us move around while it's pathing - this is a change that helps in both PVP AND PVE (hi, remember us PVE Vigilance Guardians? We still play here, though the community wonders why). 4. To truly make Master Strike uninterruptable, give us something like the entrench effect that sniper/gunslinger gets, so that we actually get to finish the path. 5. Note that of these 4 suggestions, only the first two really affect straight dps. The latter two suggestions would do nothing for my Operations Dummy DPS, but might help to bring my raid dps more in line with the ops dummy dps. 6. Remember we are MELEE. So, if the goal is to avoid having DPS guardians be simply unwanted in PVE raids (and this IS the case in some places), our overall DPS needs to be higher because we inherently have less time on target than ranged classes. 7. Judge vigilance guardian DPS by the average-to-good player. I know there are some vigilance guardians who post higher on the DPS boards. These guys are exceptional, and their high scores, I would suspect, are just that. I don't think they parse 2900-3000 every time they go in. In other words, their best scores are not representative of the broad character of the class; they are outliers. So, please don't look at a guy posting several hundred dps points higher as your benchmark. Because that's clearly not how it's done for gunslingers, sentinels, etc. 8. Please get someone on your combat team to delete his sentinel and focus on playing a DPS Guardian. As it is, I have a difficult time believing that anyone on the combat team plays a PVE vigilance guardian as his primary character, because the way the spec is built now juxtaposed with the "fixes" you have planned for 2.5 does nothing to address the problems causing DPS guardians to be shunned in raids. 9. In the end, if you guys really can't get on-board with making guardian DPS a thoroughly viable DPS class, then let players respec their advanced classes. The fact that many DPS guardians would find this attractive should underline what a problem this situation is for us as a class. I would hate to have to pick up an offhand saber and give up my classic single-saber, but I also don't want to have to struggle as a class to find a role in hard mode and nightmare mode endgame PVE. 10. Please give us a class representative who actually plays the game actively and participates here. As an advanced class, I would think Guardian presents one of the more challenging to find a good representative for, because we have a tank spec and two dps specs. So, there's a broader range of stuff to know, and to know well. But here, we have a class representative who simply isn't around. And I'm not saying he should be: real life happens and we all have other commitments, and from what I gather above, our rep has gotten bored with the game. Fine, it happens to most of us. But then, most of us are not claiming the mantle of being the primary speaker for every member of a class in this game. The guardian community DESERVES a representative who can and will do the job.
  13. http://www.torparse.com/a/463750 I'm vigilance spec guardian (looks like the same spec build as the two vig guardians in the leaderboard). I gave this parse a whirl tonight on the ship-based operations training dummy. I wasn't super lucky or super unlucky on master strike procs - perhaps a little below average as MS usually accounts for about 24% of my dmg, as compared with about 19% here. Still, I'd be very grateful for any suggestions for improvement.
  14. Bottom line: guardian dps in pve is woefully behind other hybrid dps classes. Our abilities hit for less, have longer cooldowns, and unlike many, we have to chase our targets. Our single biggest hit, despite being labeled "uninterruptable" is actually interrupted all the time based on game mechanics - such as knockbacks, stuns, etc. Add to that the lousy proc rate on master strike's refresh, and you get what every pve vigilance guardian already sees: groups generally don't want you, and people presume you're a tank. You told us that guardian dps wasn't meant to be totally gimped as a balance to the belief (I won't call it a fact) that we're more survivable than, say, a sentinel. So, get with the program - hey, maybe even get someone on the team who plays a vigilance guardian primarily - and up our dps significantly. In endgame ops, we are all expected to do our roles, IE: DPS needs to be able to DPS hard. I understand there's sustained dps and burst dps. But this is ridiculous. Even our set bonuses are stupid. I have to use 2 pieces of the sentinels' set bonus to try to maximize my dmg output.
  15. Edited to correct misnamed enhancement. It's the Advanced Volition Enhancement 31 I can craft, not Sagacity.
  16. Some new additions: I can now make Advanced Might Hilt 31 and Advanced Deft Mod 31 and Advanced Volition Enhancement 31 Primary Rep/Imp contacts: Thran/Arath As always, items are free if the client provides all crafting mats.
  17. I recently bought the overtuned derelict lightsaber from the bounty supply company. Normally, the blade has a sort of pulse along the length of the blade and some shining at the emitter. But I've noticed that after the saber is thrown in combat and some other combat graphics, the blade effect changes to that of the tythonian force-master's lightsaber and volatile derelict lightsaber.
  18. Think the point he's making, wiseguy, is that the lore items were supposed to become dyeable in 2.4, which goes live tomorrow. In answer to the OP's point, it's because BW muffed up and "accidentally" released the 2.4 data today, rather than tomorrow. All should be sorted out, and you can refer to the dev tracker for details. But in short, I wouldn't use any really valuable dyes until you patch tomorrow.
  19. Ok, look, leaving aside all the righteous anger, how about some clear directions on how to minimize the headache this creates? I just got here, logged in, unexpected download came up, completed, and I hit play. Now I'm in game. What do I do? Should I : (a) log out and wait until after the patch, when I will, evidently, need to reinstall the game (b) stay logged in © dig out my old West End Games D6 Star Wars books, round up some proper nerds, and say farewell to fly-by-night MMOs? Also, if it's a full reinstall, for me, that's not the end of the world. I have the disks. But some buddies have the digital download, and DLing 25gigs or so is a long time. One said it took him 4 days originally. Bum connections aside, is this really the only option available to your players? Some specific and clear directions are needed.
  20. I am already on the list, but have recently acquired some new schematics: Advanced Deft Mod 31A Advanced Agile Mod 31A Advanced Proficient Enhancement 31 As with all my crafting of item modifications, I craft free if all crafting materials are provided. I may be contacted on the Republic side on Thran, Ooteenee, or Sorenai, and on the Imperial side on Smurfit or Arath
  21. Generally speaking, when I lead a group I try to lay out loot rules early so everyone knows what to do. When it's a pug, or worse, a groupfinder pug, I usually wait to see what others do, though my natural inclination is to greed on things like rep tokens. Need, for me and everyone I've ever played with, is main spec, current toon, upgrade. Not comps, not alts, not offspec (unless no one else needs for main spec). I have no problem with folks asking on a greed roll, may I need for X when they want it for a companion, etc. But in that case, it's up to the group. It's a greed roll, and if someone doesn't want to let the person need on it, we'd expect him to greed. In the case of your group, I don't blame them entirely for being irked that you needed, but in the end it's a miscommunication. Loot rules should be discussed at the outset. When it became obvious there were different views, a calm discussion should have followed. Your decision to pass on the next rep drop was a responsible one. On rep tokens, I usually ask a group to pass once they've gotten one until everyone else has also gotten one. But there's no reason those groupmembers could not have raised the issue with you calmly and respectfully. Avoiding all these little headaches is why I've found it useful to discuss loot at the outset.
  22. As it is, I decided never to buy another dye pack. I am fast approaching a decision to never buy another cartel coin at all. I don't feel I get enough value for my purchase. Simple as that for me. And I am obviously not alone.
  23. So, if the overall length of the hilt and blade equals 1, and this is the same as the tythonian saber, and the hilt of the derelict is substantially larger than the tythonian hilt, what's that mean for the relative length of the blade? Please read before opining - this thread is about the length of the BLADE, which is visibly shorter on the derelict saber than it is on any other saber.
  24. Lol, I didn't think derelict meant tiny-wang-saber. But hey, if they want to issue a brand new saber that looks like Obi-wan's Ep. IV saber with a nice tythonian blade effect - I dunno, maybe call it the Guardian's Battle Lightsaber, I will take that as a perfectly acceptable alternative.
