  1. Some disclaimers before I'll make my little rant bsed on the OP's comments previous to mine.... - I did start playing SWTOR in 2011 originally but I was only playing for a few months before real life situations had to take priority over playing a game. However when I started I did do the guild thing, I did play some pvp (not much but some) , I did do the random flashpoint here and there.... but I've always loved the story driven class missions to this game so that's what eventually lead to my next statement.... - I will openly admit I play this particular MMO as a single player game WAY more than an multiplayer game -- to the point so much many nights I'm running my quests with the chat completely disabled. That aside straight out I don't understand overly bitter people in games, especially ones you spend real money on, doing "over time" to rip them, complain about them, so and so forth -- yet said person STILL sticks around perhaps even still plays the game. To me that is just beyond logical reasoning. If your hand is on a burning stove, you remove it so the pain doesn't continue. If you play a game that brings you more misery than fun -- you stop playing to stop wasting your time on something you no longer enjoy. Now I've been around MMORPGs quite a few years, I'm a long term "noob" in SWTOR because I only play it for months at a time with then more month breaks in-between....but I'm not a noob to other games or the genre in general. I know how people reply to above comments I just made... "So openly stating what you feel is wrong about a game is wrong or whining?" -- That's not what I said....I said *people who put in over time* that implies MORE THAN JUST NORMAL COMPLAINING or reporting concerns. Writing a post that says "Why does [such and such error] still happen devs when you said it would be fixed in such and such patch" -- that's a normal , rational and legit complaint that the player base SHOULD report. To rail on and on with bitterness that practically flows through the Internet and out of the reader's monitor to muck up their desk...yeah that's the stuff I'm talking about....there's a difference between the two. My main point ironically is my last point -- and EVERY major game has the same type of people.....I mean the folks that state their opinions as facts....."The devs are using money from THIS --- to do that" or "the DEVS are not giving us THAT FEATURE because of THIS REASON..." I'll say the same thing here - I say in many games to everyone with similar posts....Unless you work at the company or have otherwise intimate knowledge the general public doesn't have access too...how the hell do you know your claims are factual? I work in IT...for a very large employer (almost 100k employees nationwide) I'm sensitive to this stuff because of that... you know how many rumors we hear on why some IT projects were canned (or supposedly canned) because instead we felt like doing this or that instead? Truth is the biggest complainers at our company about IT projects are the most CLUELESS about our project deadlines, project plans and our general work load of other things. I feel that is what goes on in games some times....in this case , OP, some of your ranting is the place of the clueless worker at my job, and you are making claims at the SWTOR Dev staff's work being the IT dept in my account above. In the end games are supposed to be fun...supposed to relax you from real life woes, not create them. Beyond all they are optional. If the fun ends , the stress builds.....leave. to do other wise is foolish. PS. Spare me the "But I care about the game" diatribe that so many people who rant against games use when someone like me basically says "stop"...that is such a fake excuse its not even funny.
  2. Don't forget that annoying GUILD RECRUITER..... I have no qualms with guilds trying to recruit and most of their messages are fine, I like the funny ones the most - though haven't seen much of that type lately. Anyway... I get a kick of some people that recruit with the instant guild invite (an invite that "you" (the player) never asked for mind you) and then if you decide to quit the guild right away the GM or recruiter instantly messages you with "Why did you leave?".... This actually happened to me just a couple days ago -- I was just given an invite to a guild I clicked yes without thinking (I was in the middle of fighting some mobs and trying to complete a quest) then after the combat ended I just gquit... The GM or Recruiter dude instantly PM's me "Why did you leave?"....I wrote (and yes this is just about word for word - I never cursed, never made fun of him or anything ) "Sorry I clicked joined without thinking, but I don't really need a guild in this game" ....he responds back with something about I'm arrogant and then instantly puts me on ignore. Thankfully in my long experience playing MMOs (since the 80's) I can only count on one hand how a GM/Recruiter got butt hurt as they say like this....twice it was in World of Warcraft and then this event here.... Why? What makes GMs or Recruiters feel so entitled to a) ask why someone leaves your guild instantly...(if someone was a member for some time then drops -- the question is valid because you may want to know if there's a problem you can address....but if someone leaves in under a minute or two -- why bother...there's no history there)... b) If you are going to get unhinged at a perfectly honest answer that has no disrespect in it -- I guess all I can say is grow the hell up and if you are so sensitive about people that drop out of your guild, perhaps you aren't guild recruiter material. So its not just the annoying guild member - some of you guild officers are the most annoying people ever.
  3. So I only recently game back after not playing since 2015 (before the current expansion launched)... So I got that the new primary stat for all classes is "mastery"...ok fine done. I'm having way too much difficulty than I wanted or expected to simply look up what stats do I want for a particular class when I'm shopping for mod gear though? Its unbelievable to me that its so hard to just get a straight and simple answer "For this class in mod gear you want to look for x, y, z stats" type of thing... My current main is a smuggler / gunslinger.... I know that crit seems good and I "think" endurance is a smart choice as well...but what about "power" (I don't even remember what power does to be honest).....or alacrity.....etc. I don't play the game a ton of hours so I have to spend my currencies wisely and I don't want to invest is ridiculous stats that don't make sense for my class. Any help is appreciated... Thank. PS. if official bioware staff read this (yeah right LOL).....Why don't YOU post primary stats for purpose of mod gear in a nice easy table for ALL classes and then make it relevant to each build you make when it changes?
  4. I know...I know...you can't believe someone is asking such a thing, trust me I can't believe I'm asking such a thing. However, after taking close to a year off from this game I finally decided to come back for the new "chapter driven story" stuff... Anyway I have a multi-button gaming mouse I'd like to key bind my action bar to (I know the game supported it in the past because I remember playing it with my mouse buttons key bound to the action bar).... So anyway -- how do I change my action bar key binds? **UPDATE: LOL I'm such a dumb *****..... I found the key bindings tab myself just now....thanks anyway. I leave this post alone for your entertainment now.
  5. This topic is such a curious and interesting thing to me....as I'm very confident my PC gaming history goes back longer than many who play this game have even been alive (you'd have to be older than 34 to outlive my history with gaming) -- the only reason what I point out how long I've kept this hobby is simply to enforce this....I've never seen such a big deal be made from a fan base over simply "Tell us more about the expansion" as with this game right now. I just don't get the big deal -- like others have said in this very thread....what more do you types freaking out want to know? We know the expansion is all about story right? Do folks complaining never read? Have you never turned off the computer and TV and just relaxed with a good novel ? I think the reason they won't go into much detail ATM is because its like a book....they don't want to give away the story. I'm personally satisfied with what we know right now --- I mean they outlined the premise of the expansion.....they explained changes of companions, they explained how the expansion will unfold in chapters over an extended period of time....they show snap shots of game play (perhaps this they could have expanded on more - I'll give you that much).... As for comparing this expansion with the upcoming WoW expansion and GW2 expansions...that's apples and oranges..and its a stupid comparison. Why? Well simply put the WoW expansion and the GW2 expansion I'd consider FULL GAME expamsions..... KotFE is NOT a full game expansion...its not being released ALL at once...its chapters over a long period of time. WoW and GW2's expansion is the whole deal right up front ...ALL the expansion content. The more content you release all at once -- the more you can say about it. They can't say as much because its all story....like I said earlier....what do you want them to do give away an outline of each chapter in KotFE?
  6. Just to back up others -- I'm running it with my GTX 980.....smooth as butter
  7. 12. Because I have a Razor Naga Elite mouse (which I love -- best mouse I've ever owned to be honest), the mouse has 12 programmable buttons so I bind my most valueable spells (loosely based on suggested rotation from duffy) to those 12 buttons. I click everything else. BTW.... I know saying you click anything at all in a forum for a MMORPG usually will get at least once person who'll reply with a debate / dissertation on the evils of clicking and the nonsense of only "real players" keybind everything....noobs click...... yadda yadda. So if you are reading and that was going through your mind -- save it....don't wanna hear it. Don't care what you think is proper or not...really truly don't. Besides ....I don't raid......don't really do group content at all ....therefore doesn't matter half as much....now if I was a raider...then there would be more validity to the "don't click anything" argument.
  8. This so easy... 1) First your exaggeration is laughable...."majority of players".....so you play so much you have had feedback from hundreds of thousands (I'm basing this on the article I read that estimated about a quarter to half million subscribers play SWTOR)....of players? Hardly a good sample you are going by.... 2) Its not as much as what information you are offering, but how its offered. That's the key. You might well know more about the game than anyone else that plays, you might top ranked raider in the world (or top ranked pvp player whatever example sounds better) .....your advice means little if your delivery is full of arrogance or condescension. 3) some people are the type that are like this "when I want your advice I'll ask for it...otherwise mind your own business".....so while that attitude may seem 'wrong' or harsh to you....its that player's right to have that attitude its their free time and if they are a sub its their money too.
  9. No. Bad idea....one of the little things I like is that we do train our characters for free. Especially if you are an alt lover like I am. Inflation happens because of people who lack any will power whatsoever......"but that [name of whatever it is] is so cool looking I *MUST* have it"......prevails and people pay the extortion level prices. THAT'S what makes prices go high and stay high ....well that and greed of course. If more people had the sack to stick to their guns and say "screw you I'm not paying those prices for that".....over time people would lower their prices. The goal of a seller is to SELL their item, I know shocking info right? Its like this....you try selling something for 200 bucks....no one bites for weeks on end.....you cringe and sell it for 150 and BAM! someone buys it at that price....... Now while you might of liked 200 bucks more than 150.......isn't the 150 better than nothing? But again...the reason this issue is amusing to me is because is a circular problem....people complain at rising prices but its simple supply and demand......the prices are only rising over time because it means people keep paying those prices!! Also -- don't be lazy....filter the list....almost always in a list of items on the GTN there's a good difference between the highest price and the lowest price. Oh and then there's players like me....I don't value game currency like most of you do....(because I'm not a big spender -- don't need it as much) .... I'll under cut the ever loving **** out of people just to sell.....works like a charm for me....I once was the lowest price for a pack by over $200k.....now some would say I was stupid I cut myself out of big profit.....but you know what....my packs sold fast....I went back over the next week and recognized the same sellers with the same packs at the same high prices still waiting. for buyers....moral of the story : support your local under cutters! LOL
  10. Good lord a lot of you people are real cry babies over this "WAHHA they aren't telling us about the next expansion " crap aren't you? How much **** do you people really have on your "plate" so to speak that your passion is filled over slamming a game dev for not sharing as much info as you'd like on an upcoming expansion? TO BE CLEAR: My comments here are NOT targeted at the casual one time people merely expressing "I do think its BS they don't share more info up front".......because that's what I call "normal, rationale" reaction... I'm completely thinking of the people that just keep trying to make a federal case out of the issue and just beating the proverbial horse to death.....you know the types that are trying to vilify BioWare like they are terrible people committing serious crimes or something.... THOSE are the people I'm talking about.
  11. What the hell are you talking about? How the hell is "Never had PUGs my friend" a relevant counter point to what I stated? No I never been part of a PUG in the 20 years i've been playing these types of games......(btw that was sarcasm of COURSE I've been part of PUGs).... My whole point that you replied to was its the player's responsibility to learn the game whether they bought an instant level capped character or started from 1 -- if they seek (or participate) in PUGs that's totally irrelevant to the point..... Not to mention PUGs have been notoriously bad for a very long time way before games that now feature "instant level boost" features ever did....that fact alone negates the whole PUG argument.
  12. This topic forces me to think back to the beginning of the current WoW expansion (when they started selling instant boosts to level 90).....same things were said ...."it'll create clueless 90's...great just what the game needs more people who can't raid to save themselves"...... Well my take is this --- if you are a gamer and you really like games....you probably have been exposed to game mechanics of many games right? Well most genre's have VERY similar game mechanics -- sure the interfaces look different...but look at FPS games....you pick up how one controls...its not rocket science to quickly learn how another fps game plays....MMOs....Rift.....WoW...SW:TOR.....different games.....different UI's but the conceptual play style is very similar --- you have resources for your character...(mana / HP, etc.) you have action bars....place your learned abilities and spells on the action bars.....there's things called "rotations" which are based off the class you play combined with the role you play within that class....these rotations were figured out to maximize efficiency of your class/role combo. Being instant max level -- doesn't create "people who can't raid" or who are "noobs"......lack of motivation to learn common mechanics does. That's something ANY player needs to pick up whether its from level 1 or level 90.....basically its YOUR responsibility as the player to do some research on what your abilities / spells / rotation / proper gearing is.....I call it bogus to say just because someone is instant max level they are destined to fail at the class. Now as to will level 60's be sold. on GTN...my guess would be...eventually yes....
  13. People really do whine like kids being kicked out of the candy store don't they.....
