  1. I thought it was implied that he was indeed at full power in Echoes. Possibly stronger, given that he could manifest three versions of himself. He just lacked the wisdom of his later incarnations. Considering the story that would've suited MY character (at least my dark-sided one) best if he was capable of beating the Emperor alone would be to single-handedly dominate the entire galaxy with no one to oppose him, which would mean that we couldn't have any further game, I don't think this is much of an excuse. That's the problem with a constantly-updating MMO like SWTOR. They can't make you so powerful that you'd break the story, but at the same time they can't make your character willing to make decisions that would get them killed.
  2. To play Devil's advocate for a brief bit, I DO think Valkorian was at full power when we fight him at the end of KOTET. But the fact still remains we needed help from Valkorian's family, as well as the special circumstances of being within the Outlander's mind, to win. It it still fair to say that it's unrealistic that in a straight fight, with no help, special abilities, or circumstances whatsoever, our PC probably couldn't beat the Emperor alone. (And if they could, I would have to complain to BioWare that since our PC is obviously the most powerful being in the galaxy canonically, I should be allowed to usurp the Emperor's scheme and become ruler of/destroy the galaxy myself.)
  3. I guess the former scenario could've worked. But it feels a little too convenient. The latter simply would not work, though. Do you actually expect to defeat the Emperor by yourself? This guy who could destroy the whole Galaxy with a snap of his finger? Who you needed help to defeat before, and need help to defeat in the normal scenario? Yeah, sorry, but your character isn't THAT much of a Mary Sue. Don't quote me on this, but I heard this quest was originally supposed to be a full-on part 3 of the Eternal Empire story, before it was reduced to just the quest we got.
  4. I wasn't too sure about this theory at first. Mostly because I didn't really pay enough attention to notice that the student who was thought to be dead was walking again in the ending scene. Then I got the mail from Satele mentioning that her student was alive after all. Needless to say, I'm now leaning towards this theory being true.
  5. The helmets in SWTOR are pretty big. Unlike a Twi'lek's lekku, I think it's reasonable enough to assume there are ways for a Zabrak to get a helmet their horns would fit into.
  6. Unfortunately, our characters have Plot Armor. (People often complain about NPCs having Plot Armor, but really, PCs have it too.) No matter how "in character" it might be, our characters kinda have to stick around, so the devs won't let them do anything so stupid that it would guarantee their demise. Ex: no matter how in character it may be, your PC can't choose to join someone who wants to destroy the entire Galaxy including our player characters.
  7. To cut them some slack on Leia, I heard she was supposed to survive the sequel trilogy, but Disney had to alter the plot of the third film to accommodate for Carrie Fisher's death.
  8. I'm just stating facts. What Hadsil is engaging in is Fanon Discontinuity. Look, you are allowed to do what you want to have fun, there are plenty of good fanfics out there that ignore canon. But I would appreciate it if you stop calling it a "headcanon" (a term that basically means "what I think happened", and not "what I wish happened", as you seem to think.) (Sorry if I'm acting snippy, but I've has a LOT of bad experiences with people who are unable to accept that their headcanon isn't actual canon, and give undeserved criticism to work creators who dare to debunk them. Note that doesn't mean that work creators always do things right. And it doesn't mean a fanverse can't be better than a canonverse. I just think it would be more accurate to call them fanverses than headcanons.)
  9. In that case, your headcanon exists in the "non-respectable" category. The only respectable headcanons work WITH canon, not against it.
  10. Headcanons can't trump actual canon. If you read the Codex, or just pay attention to the fact Taris is visited in Act 1 for the Republic, and Act 2 for the Empire, it becomes extremely clear that that the Empire version takes place afterward. At any rate, my views on the matter by planet. (It's been a while since I've played, so I may be forgetting a view things. Taris/Balmorra: Obviously, as I stated earlier, Republic Taris is first, Imperial is second. Likewise, Imperial Balmorra is first, and Republic second. Nar Shaddaa: I don't remember all the details of the planetary quest, but I think it could actually go either way. Tatooine: The two sides largely take place at the exact same time, though obviously only one side can canonically confront the Imprisoned One. I think this story is a case where the canonical victor is simply whoever you're playing as at the time. I do have a slight preference for the Republic version due to the plot with Czerka. (Otherwise I find myself wondering where Gayem went.) Alderaan: Same deal with Tatooine. For the most part, both take place at the same time with minimal contradiction, but your player character is the one to canonically confornt Bouris Ulgo. Quesh: Okay, this is where things get confusing for me. The two stories are completely different but mutually exclusive, and unlike Tatooine and Alderaan, there are no cases of shared quests. As someone who likes to imagine all the questlines are canon to some degree, I find this planet the hardest to work in due to the fates of Moff Dracen and Broga. Wookieepedia seems to treat the Empire capturing Broga as the canon choice, with him escaping later, to justify this. Personally, I don't like the idea of a choice I made being rendered non-canon (the only exceptions are cases like on Alderaan and Tatooine, where the divergence is less the choice made and more the character present). I personally headcanon that Broga had the foresight to place a body double before the Imperials invaded. Alterniatively, this could be another case of the side you play as winning. (Though I find that hard to accept, as the stories are so different and opposed that this would mean the other side's version just plain DIDN'T HAPPEN, as opposed to other cases where it's still clear the quests your character can't get involved in still happened.) Hoth: While still a little confusing, this is a little easier than Quesh, since the main points of contradiction are cases that can filed under whether the Republic or Empire gets there first. Belsavis: Warden Graal and the Dread Masters' roles pretty much proves this to be another case where the Republic is first, Empire second. He becomes warden in the Republic story, and survives from beginning to end there. However, the Dread Master never come up. In the Imperial Story, Graal is already Warder, and can die when the Dread Masters are freed. The Dread Masters are shown to have been freed in later stories, so the only way both Republic and Imperial stories can be canon is if Republic happens first, Imperial second. Voss: The two stories happen at the same time. The main grey areas are Jokull and the circumstances regarding the holographic meeting with the Three. Corellia: Pretty obvious from the dialogue. The Empire questline is about the conquest of the planet. In the Republic storyline, bits of dialogue indicate the council already agreed to join the Empire, and the Republic is trying to liberate the planet.
  11. I am curious what will happen when Zenith reappears. I imagine that the reason he's taking so long to return is due to the nature of his character. He has a very black and white view of the Republic-Empire war, and I imagine the writers couldn't think of a way to justify him working with the Alliance, due to it having a number of former Imperials. (Though admittedly, this is part of why I think it'll be interesting when he does reappear.) It wouldn't surprise me if, when he does come back, only Consulars will be able to recruit him due to him feeling lingering loyalty to them, while with the others he will openly refuse to trust someone whose attitude towards Imperials is anything other than "plant a blaster bolt in their skull." (Best case scenario is that he CAN be persuaded to help at least a Republic origin commander... but to prove you're "trustworthy" he will demand you kill Lana.)
  12. The Sith are the ruling class of the Empire. Sith PCs work for other Sith because only they have the authority to give you orders. The Jedi, however, are subservient to the Republic government. Simply being a Jedi isn't enough to give you more authority than a Republic general.
  13. It doesn't seem that creepy to me. Probably because of how I always interpreted the BH's own age. Keep in mind that the PC characters are supposed to be pretty young themselves. (Somewhere in the late teens to early twenties range.) And whereas Nadia is explicitly your student, Mako is more along the lines of being a partner.
  14. At least with Orgus, the relationship begins with him explicitly announcing his intention of taking you on as a Padawan. With Kira, you are simply told to take care of her "as if she were your own Padawan." Which makes it sound like a temporary arrangement rather than anything official. For that matter, there's also the fact you don't get promoted to Jedi Master at the end of the first act, when Kira herself gets knighted. (In general Star Wars, successfully training a Padawan to Jedi Knight is how one becomes a Jedi Master.) This is why I believe Kira is not meant to be officially seen as your Padawan. When she refers to you as her master, I see it as just an expression of respect... as well as a way of getting around the fact that addressing you by name in this game (which has an MC you name yourself, and fully voiced dialogue) is... difficult.
  15. I think it's actually a mixture of both. I'm 99% percent sure that all the classes exist in the game's storyline, and that the class stories all happen within the same universe. (Bear in mind that whenever a class you aren't playing as is referred to, the details are kept vague. Almost certainly to prevent an exact canon from being established.) That said, the planetary storylines, as well as basically the entire main story from Shadow of Revan onwards, are another story. There's only a single Outlander/Alliance Commander, after all.
  16. This is what happens when the single-player content of the initial days gets praised as the best part of the game, but the devs no longer have the budget to give each class a separate story.
  17. Real-world racism doesn't make much sense either, but there was still plenty of it. In this fictional world, it's probably little more than another typical "bad guy" to apply to the Empire. If there has to be some kind of logic, they probably have some kind of (incorrect) belief that those belonging to pure bloodline are somehow more powerful than those who aren't.
  18. He stays with you if you're a Republic character.
  19. I interpreted Kira as not officially being your Padawan. I always interpreted the story as her still being Kiwiiks's Padawan; things just worked out that you ended up teaching her for a time.
  20. I highly doubt all of them will turn against me regardless, especially considering I still did help them out immensely during their starring day in KOTFE, giving them the info they needed and ensuring the attack went smoothly. Haven't seen that livestream. Guess I'll take a look. Though somehow, I have a feeling Torian's role will amount to more of a bonus than anything truly significant. Well, as far as I'm concerned, not only is Torian not irreplaceable either, he's even more expendable than Vette considering the sheer number of people I have who are good shots with a blaster. (It's not like Mandolorians are exactly rare either. And I'm confident enough in the respect I've earned from them.) Doesn't help that I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about when you say the Outlander cares about her more than others. As far I recall, my lightsided Outlander cared about everyone, and had some notable moments on Iokath with Torian as well. This "cuteness factor" you speak of is completely subjective. Not to mention that Torian's "pretty boy" appearance would make him emotionally appealing for similar reasons. As for the Pub saving her, she is obviously a lightsided companion. She and Torian are not the same on the LS/DS spectrum. There are very few dark choices Vette approves of. From time to time, you may find a victim who you can kill and she'll be fine, thinking they deserve it, but otherwise, she has a very strong morals and regularly favors light over dark. As for Torian, while it is true that he is not dark-sided, he isn't light either; he approves of just as many dark sided choices as he approves light. He's a Mando; while he does have a code of honor, said code is of a violent "war is glorious" nature compared to what a more conventionally moral person would think noble. He's overall a neutral-aligned companion. Also, keep in mind that historically, the Mandolorians were allies of the Empire and enemies of the Republic. You can say all you want that saving Torian is "more rational". I do not agree. I think his skills are a dime a dozen, and that any political issues can be prevented by recruiting Shae and making efforts to earn the respect of the Mandos when you interact with them. I'm pretty sure they will not hold Torian's death against me. They are well aware that their lifestyle often ends in death. As long as I show them the proper respect, I don't think I have anything to worry about. (Fun fact: I've heard that there are two possible emails you can get if Torian dies, based on the state of the Mandolorians as a whole, which is determined by your choices in their KOTFE chapter. Which just further leads me to believe I'm in the clear with them.) In fact, I think it could just as easily be said that saving Torian is the less rational choice, as it could be seen as judging superfically and saving the guy whose abilities are overt and obvious versus the girl whose talents are subtle and less obvious, or dumbing him and Vette down to their fighting ability and opting to save the guy with brawn over the girl with brain. And your political concerns could be interpreted as paranoia and expecting a warrior culture who considers going out fighting to be a worthy end to betray you over something that wouldn't bother them much to begin with.
  21. Source on ages, please? As for Shae, the story reason for her becoming a companion is making the alliance between the Mandolorians and the Alliance official. Torian may have been a link before that point, but you can easily argue that he's served his purpose once the alliance is official. Raina's link is similarly mostly because the Chiss are not allied with the Alliance. Also... Unless you haven't recruited her, incorrect. She can be seen in Aygo's hanger along with some of her Mandolorian buddies. The implication is that the Mandolorians have overall moved in. I can the merit in keeping Torian around if you don't have Shae. But if you DO have Shae, I just cannot see what Torian has to offer besides fighting, which almost everyone in the alliance is capable of. (Also, I'm guessing you're referring to the Dar'manda scene when you mention the Mandolorians being suggested to be useful in upcoming story bits? Seeing as Shae, like Torian, has a unique scene when you deal with them, it's pretty obvious she can do his job just as well.) And while it is true that there are other people who can do Vette's work, there aren't many, especially in comparison to people who have the claim to fame of "good with a blaster." (P.S. I'm sorry if I'm acting a bit irritable. But I am so sick of people in this thread underselling Vette, treating her like trash, insisting that there is no merit to saving her, and that emotions and liking her are the only reasons why one would. Which simply is not true.)
  22. I'll be honest, I highly disagree with the notion that Vette is less valuable than Torian. And I'm sick of all these people claiming otherwise. If you ask me, Torian's status as a link to the Mandolorians is rendered completely redundant and meaningless by the fact Shae Vizla is part of my crew. With Mandolore herself hanging around, the only thing Torian has to offer is his combat skill, and strong soldiers are a dime a dozen in the Alliance. Jorgan, Koth, HK-55, Forex, Qyzen, the list goes on and on, and that's not even getting into the number of people whose primary talent is in other fields, but are nonetheless good fighters as well. However, the Alliance has only a handful of people with Vette's skills with tech. To put it this way, the Alliance has a lot of people who can blow up a massive gun, but only a few who can reverse-engineer the gun and make it work for you. Don't get me wrong, I can still see merit in saving Torian. (I've played through the Eternal Empire story twice, and I did save Torian in one.) But I think a lot of people have simplistic thinking if they believe he is inherently more valuable. (BTW, is Torian really the youngest companion? Cause I'm pretty Vette is quite young herself.)
  23. I'm most bothered by OP saying that Anthem was "their choice". A belief that's questionable at best, seeing as BioWare is a subsidiary of EA. (Executive meddling sometimes happens, after all.)
  24. The game does NOT have a set canon. When the classes other than the ones you are playing as are referred to, the details are deliberately kept vague so as not to contradict choices you made in the others. This is the entire reason it took Khem Val and Jaesa Willsaam so long to return. (And presumably, why BioWare gave up on trying to implement them for everyone and only made them available for their respective classes.)
  25. Arcaan probably is still pretty unpopular in the Republic. He's not a great choice. His mother, on the other hand, likely has experience in politics and probably has fans in the Republic who appreciate her efforts during the fight with Zakuul. So, Senya is my preferred choice for Senator.
