  1. True. I always inform groups that the easiest way to do this is: 1) Everyone stand just behind the boss. EVERYONE including the healer. 2) ONLY the Tank should use AoE attacks and he should use them when the little ones appear. 3) Noone, and I mean NOONE, should use any form of knockback attack (unless you have Shadow/Assassin Tank, then he can use it ). 4) When the Boss uses his Flamethrower attack he will track/follow the Tank with it. The Flamethrower attack is also deadly to the little ones. The Tank should use this to burn the little ones by moving left or right. Using the above: 1) The Healer normally only has to heal the Tank and noone else. 2) Even if the little ones decide to attack someone else in the party, the Tank turning the Boss during his Flamethrower attack will quickly kill them. 3) Since the little ones are all stacked around the Boss, (because noone is standing away from the Boss or knocking them back), when the Boss blows up all the little ones die. 9 out of 10 times, the group is gratefull to learn this "new strategy".
  2. Nothing? Not a word? Really? With SoR coming out this isn't even something you are considering? Could we please get an official statement about this? Please?
  3. Here you go: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=scrub&defid=3583277
  4. This whole debate about whether to DPS or not when queued as a Healer is really interesting but at the end of the day it comes down to the Healer and his group. IF he is able to safely DPS because noone is taking any significant damage, then he should go for it. IF his group is taking significant damage and spending resources/globals on DPS will mean the difference between life and death for a group member, then he shouldn't DPS. It really is that simple. I've been in groups where the Healer does a great job of Healing and DPSing. They are pretty awesome to see in action and I have the utmost respect for the player that can pull it off. Unfortunately, I've also been in groups where highly geared Healers believe that they could just DPS and throw out the ocasional heal or HoT and as a consequence of that we woulld end up with people dying every other pull. By the third death I will normally pipe up with a "less DPS more healing". The good ones will acknowledge the request and pay more attention to healing and less to DPSing and all is good for the rest of the run. The bad ones will call the group/me noobs and carry on the way they were and at the next death they face a vote kick for "DPSing and not healing": it always goes through. I (and others) would rather have a companion healing who actually heals than a "healer" who wants to DPS at the group's expense.
  5. Considering that one of the forum rules is basically that you don't create a new thread for an existing topic, I did a search and replied to the most recent thread that was asking for this. This is news to me! The Valiant Jedi armor is the "cinematic armor" that the Jedis wear. When did Bioware state that the Valiant Jedi was the "Creation" armor equivalent (and it wouldn't be even remotely "fair" for that to be the case when you consider that the Sith Warriors get the "cinematic armor" and the "character creation armor")? As for the "coded as such" comment: what does that even mean?
  6. Still no word on when we will get the Jedi Knight Character Creation armor? Of the eight Character Creation armors it is the only one that has not been released. The seventh, and last (as far as I can remember/determine), Character Creation armor to be released was the Bounty Hunter's set back in March 26th, 2013 (the "Heartless Pursuer Armor Set" was released as part of patch 1.7.3). That was one year and almost 8 months ago. It really is about time that Jedi Knight Character Creation armor be made available. Could we maybe get some word on when this will happen? Maybe Mr. MDondelinger could satisfy our curiosity about this ?
  7. You do realize that the people who meet the criteria on the list are not the norm, right? You also realize that they, and only they, are the ones who make the "3DPS + Healer" in 55 HMs possible, right? Same applies to the Mando run you mentioned. People who know what they are doing can do the content without being overgeared for it, and many times without being specced or even specifically geared for it (depending on the content). Unfortunately, these people are as rare as teeth on a hen in PUG land. We aren't talking about those people. We are talking about people who queue as a Tank or Healer because they don't want to deal with the wait that DPSs have for the queue to pop. We are talking about people that will then expect, or rather DEMAND, that you make up for the fact that they are not a Tank or a Healer. Who will throw it in you face that "it's just a game", "if you don't want to die, don't queue for FPs", or my personal favourite "kick me, I'll just find another group". If you want to continue to not see the problem because "you" aren't one of the people who does this, go ahead. But the problem exists and they are out there. /rantoff Time for more stories.
  8. I love how people always miss the point. Not! Telling others to not queue as something they are not DOES NOT APPLY TO: 1) People who have the Field Respecialization perk. AND 2) Carry around 2 (or more) sets of gear for the purpose. AND 3) Are able and willing to fulfil multiple roles after a quick respec and gear change. The ones that don't meet the above criteria but still queue as something they are not, they ARE the ones targeted by these posts.
  9. In the same livestream he also mentioned that the "Supply Bag" containing the items you need for your AC is given to you (placed in your inventory) the moment you choose your AC and that it has been "uncoupled" from the original quest for choosing your AC (the quest itself is still present for those that want to do it). (As an aside: the "uncoupling" of the "Supply Bag" from the quest is another sign... ). In the livestream he then promptly forgot about that when he activated the Assassin AC and never opened his inventory to open the "Supply Bag" and claim his double-lightsaber. Rewatch the livestream .
  10. I never said they said it. I said remember that phrase. In MMOs everything changes. Remember when they said you couldn't change your appearance/race? Remember when they said there was no player housing? Remember? Don't be purposefully dense. It makes you look bad. The fact that they reset the AC shows that there is no "technical limitation" to doing it. The fact that you currently cannot do so in game is simply because they choose to not let you do so. "At this time.".
  11. Actually, there is a reason. Getting a toon to 55 is not the be all and end all of the question. This is a story based game and for me (and many others) many of my toons "mean something" to me. For example, I have both an Assassin and a Sorcerer at 55. The Assassin is one of my 10 "mains": he has a fully fledged backstory, motivations, mounts, achievements, gear, companions at max affection, etc, etc, etc..., that I worked hard for him to get; my Assassin is "important" to me. My Sorcerer on the other hand is an "alt": he was created almost a year after the Assassin so that I could experience the Sorcerer Lightning spec first hand instead of just seeing it and he has nothing especial and "means" nothing special to me and has been "inactive" since he hit 55 (over 6 months ago). However, the Sorcerer did show me that I enjoy the Sorcerer gameplay *more* than the Assassin gameplay (which I do enjoy and play regularly, but I find myself missing the Sorcerer gameplay). When the AC switch becomes a reality, my Assassin will become a Sorcerer. Not because of "flavour of the month" reasons. Not because he was "nerfed". Not because the Sorcerer is "overpowered". Simply because it will mean that a toon that "means something to me" will also now have a playstyle that I have discovered I enjoy more. I will continue to play with "my" Assassin until he becomes "my" Sorcerer. "At this time.". Remember that phrase. It is the one constant of MMOs: things change. Think about it: you have 4 NPCs on each fleet, a total of 8 NPCs, that are currently only used once by anyone: the Advanced Class Trainers. Do you really think that at some point you won't be able to go up to them and, for a fee, reset your Advanced Class? "At this time" this isn't possible... but things change. (If anything, the livestream showed just how easy it is to "reset" the Advanced Class choice. It is done at least twice during the livestream. )
  12. Answer was provided in the Twitch Stream: The Group Finder has not been changed and is not Discipline aware. In other words, it will continue to work as it does now. Question answered. Thanks Eric Musco and David Demaree for the answer.
  13. The harm comes into effect when the player is unwilling or unable to perform one of the roles. Having to kick the Tank or Healer because they are not the role they queued as and having to requeue is a greater inconvenience than waiting a little longer for someone that is specced as a Tank or Healer. It is nice to trust the player base and hope that they will "play nice" with each other. Unfortunately, there are too many out there who use this trust to abuse the system. What consequence? The consequence that you will no longer have to heal a Tank that isn't a tank? Is that a bad consequence for you? Or are you talking about the consequence that you will have to respec *before* you queue instead of 30 seconds *after* you queue and got into a group as the spec that you aren't specced for at the time that you queued? The question still stands: Will the Group Finder be Discipline aware? An official answer would be appreciated.
  14. You're right. You won't have the freedom you have right now to choose 2 roles. You also won't have the freedom to ask the rest of the group to wait while you respec. You will lose that freedom. You're right. If... I'll say that again... IF the Group Finder becomes Discipline aware, you will actually have to respec before you queue and *gasp* lose the freedom to inconvenience others for your convenience. Shocking how others don't respect your right to inconvenience them, isn't it? Anyway, this thread is asking a question: Will the Group Finder be Discipline aware? Could we please get an official answer?
  15. It won't kill anything. This was already covered in this thread. Click to go to page 2 and read the first post on that page. Anyway, this thread is about asking if the Group Finder will or will not be Discipline aware. It really isn't about discussing the merits or demerits of such a system (although to be honest, how a system that prevents "lying" or "abusive behaviour" can be considered "bad" is beyond me).
  16. But why should we the players have to deal with the liar/abuser when with the introduction of Disciplines there might be a better way?
  17. Would it be possible to get an oficial answer to this question, please? After all, this is a question about how a new system that is being introduced might interact with a currently in place system. A simple "yes" or "no" would be enough. Thank you.
  18. Skills as in "*core* skills from your skill tree" will be unlocked automatically. Class and Advanced Class abilities that you have to train from your class trainer will still need to be trained from your class trainer. So to answer your question: the statues will still be used as much as they are used today because you will still have to train.
  19. Oh, come on. Seriously? You really think that if the Group Finder becomes Discipline aware, that not being able to choose your role is going to impact you guys in anyway when you both admit that you carry the extra gear with you and have a field respec? Let's just imagine for a minute that the Group Finder is Discipline aware. Let's also not forget that queue times for Healers and Tanks are practically non-existant. So if you want to queue as a Tank or Healer with a Discipline-aware-Group-Finder, you respec to Tank or Healer, queue up and BAM! you're in a FlashPoint. What changed from the way things are now other than the fact that you would have to respec *before* queuing for your almost-instant pop FP instead of *after* you have been assigned a role (which 99% of the time will be the Tank/Healer role that you are already prepared to fill)? Making the Group Finder Discipline aware isn't going to impact you guys, and others like you, in any way at all. What it will do is stop those that have realized that by queuing as a Tank or Healer they don't have to wait for a FP to pop even though they don't have the spec, the gear, the mindset or the skill to Tank/Heal and they hope to breeze by under the radar and hope that no one notices that they aren't fulfilling the role they queued as (and since they can actually get away with this behaviour up until their late 30s, they feel that they are doing nothing wrong). Tell me je-s-ter, do you enjoy getting queued as a Healer, respeccing as a Healer and then realizing that the "Tank" in your group is nothing of the sort and yet he expects you to fulfil your role even though he has no intention of doing the same? Wouldn't you prefer that that never happened to you again? With the introduction of Disciplines, players will know what it is they are choosing when they choose a Discipline. They will *know* whether they are choosing a Tanking role, a Healing role or a Damage Dealing role. Better yet, the *game* will know what they chose and will know what that Discipline can and cannot do (just as it does now with relation to your Advanced Class). It would make perfect sense if the Group Finder was Discipline aware. And so, the question stands: Will the Group Finder be Discipline aware?
  20. Well, currently you can "spec all over the place" and end up with a tankyDPS/healerDPS build which, in the right hands, would actually allow you to fulfil the Tank/Healer role minimally without being fully specced into that. With this change, the introduction of Disciplines, players will no longer be able to "spec all over the place" and will actually be locked into a specific role from the outset: Tank, Healer or DPS depending on the discipline they chose. So, being able to choose your role in Group Finder seems redundant and prone to... let's call it... mistakes in choosing your role. I don't know if it is changing and, no, they have in fact not mentioned that it is being changed. But in light of what Disciplines brings to the table it seems like a valid question to ask if the Group Finder will be Discipline aware. Strangely enough the wording of your answer would appear to imply that you are one of those that likes to queue as something that he isn't or at least actively supports the possibility that others can do so despite the impact to group play that it causes. Exactly. And so, the question stands: Will the Group Finder be Discipline aware?
  21. QUESTION: Will the Group Finder be Discipline aware? In other words, will the Group Finder now queue you based on the Discipline you have active at the time of queuing and will it prevent from changing your Discipline if you are queued in the Group Finder? (For example: if you are a Vanguard and you chose the "Shield Specialist" Discipline you will automatically be queued as a Tank; if you are a Vanguard and you chose the "Assault Specialist" you will be queued as a DPS; etc...) Or will players still be able to cheat the system, and their group mates, by choosing a role that they are not specced for? (I really hope the answer is "yes". )
