  1. If you really dive into the specs you'll see that a lot of hybrids work great for different situations. Not to mention the quick change that many tank and dps modes can do to fill either the dps or healing role in short bursts, emergencies or as a sub. In beta we ran a lot of VERY imbalanced flashpoints with odd groups. We had 2 tanks, then one tank would go more dps, then back to tanking. We had heavy CC groups to take encounters of 3+ golds down to 1 at a time. We even did good old Hammerstation a few times with 2 healers and once with 2 healers" and one commando specced as dps off healing when needed. This was due to the gross imbalance and difficulty of some flashpoints during some builds. This has carried into live where you can run every Flashpoint from 10 through 45 with any combination. You still need at least 1 tank and 1 healer, but the rest can be almost anything. That might carry into the Hard Modes and Operations as well, but until we have a lot more testing it's all speculation.
  2. Level 40 right now and I certainly don't get 3 shotted by anything. With all the survival tools we gte it takes a lot of people or a good chunk of time from one person to kill me. Given the Vanguard's damage I can still kill and 1v1 people. I do have an issue with smart healers since the Vanguard as a pure tank isn't very bursty. Everything else seems balanced so far. Vanguards don't get all their toys until 30 and then 40. Lower levels the "tanks" are just squishy and lack the burst tools of the other ACs.
  3. ROFL, because metacritic has any credibility right? You should really let others make decisions for you, never make them yourself! That would be insane! SOrry but I cannot take this post seriously. Bad troll is so very, very bad. PS - I'm still laughing...
  4. I've heard rumors that if you run it as Admin you'll be fine. As a side note you CAN set Vent up to always run as Admin. Hahaha, oldest Vent issue in the book these days.
  5. Good point, I will say that both my wife and I use NVidia cards. Edit; Republic. Didn't get far enough with my BH in beta to hit Taris.
  6. I did EVERYTHING, even the Heroics once my wife caught up and enough people were there to get a group going. Did the same thing in beta, did ALL the quests since I initially thought Nar Shadda was overtuned. Not sure where this glitch is, but we have yet to come across it on our end.
  7. I didn't have issues on Taris, did the entire planet and went on to Nar Shadda. Are you sure the bug still persists? Or is hit isolated to your specific setup? Seems off as I didn't have an issue with Taris in beta or in live.
  8. Lines are poo! Although I have to commute again soon in California traffic. Makes a game que look tame. =)
  9. I know my Trooper companion has bonuses to biochem and such as well. Might increase my chances of rare mats. Just a thought.
  10. I dunno, seems dangerous. For instance I could say, "I got in on the 2nd wave and you first wavers are causing the server que to be longer. If anything you had your chance to level and now the new people need their turn." I don't believe that, everyone should get to have fun, just saying.
  11. Funny part, I just had my wife log in from our house and our server had no wait time. <shrug> I still asked that she go by and tap the space bar from time to tme until I get home.
  12. There is something odd about the differences in population from the beta weekend stress tests to pre-launch. I do recall multiple instances of 100+ people on multiple occasions. As to where now I think Coruscant had 140 people last night. While places like Nar Shadda had all of 15 and Tatooine had 9. This is Republic side, but it's not like I saw Empire folks running around either. Maybe 1 or 2 here or there at a vendor selling or running past. They had to be at or near the same level though. The performance seems weaker as well. During beta I was maxing most everything and had no problem with fps. Now the pre-launch has less options, but the fps rates are hit and miss. Certain areas my fps rate is very high, then some VERY specific areas it drops considerably for no reason. Love the game, just hope they get a patch going before launch to address many of these things.
  13. Get one of those little birds that bob back and forth with the liquid in them. I forget the name but they do wor well for making you jump every few seconds and not logging out. I used that WAY back in the day for WoW. Lol
  14. Wasn't an arguement, those are facts. Also, the opening of so many servers did in fact disperse the population in very imbalanced ways which lead to huge gaps in balance for the RvR lakes. I knew WAR was dead before release when they scrapped their other 4 capitol cities and starting cutting down areas, zones and nerfing things into oblivion. Oh cutting out the classes didn't help things either.
  15. I posted the WoW issues and it didn't have a que, WoW had log-in server issues for days. Which lead to the "Log-in game" where you type your password and hit enter a few hundred times before being able to log in. WAR had initial issues, then opened WAY too many servers, look where WAR is now, poor example. Never did Lotro past beta, wasn't something I was interested in. So they are lies and something I would rather not see on these forums. The community needs to be a place of facts, not this slander.
  16. Brownie points if you know what this means: alert tcp $HOME_NET 23432 -> $EXTERNAL_NET any (msg:"BACKDOOR Asylum 0.1 connection established"; flow:to_client,established; flowbits:isset,backdoor.asylum.connect; content:"GNT"; depth:3; metadata:policy balanced-ips drop, policy connectivity-ips drop, policy security-ips drop; classtype:misc-activity; sid:3014; rev:6;) Otherwise, please stop pretending to understand servers and what Bioware is and will be doing as the game matures. Heck they may even patch and refine the code before the true launch. It IS a brand new game, I don't expect things to be 100%, 90% is normal and Bioware is around 95%. Could be FAR worse. This could be WoW's launch when the loot bug would lock your toon for hours. Hunter pets were glitched beyond hope, the Shaman air totem quest wasn't even possible. The Zepplins disconnected you, drown you and then made your body unrecoverable for a time. I could go on, but I've beta tested a ton of games and seen the launches of just as many if not more and this is a solid launch thus far.
  17. More then 10 minutes? So you never did the EQ launch, WoW Launch, DaoC? Rift? They all had either LONG que times, or an absolute inability to log-in due to log-in servers being overloaded. EA already had the WAR fiasco where they opened servers like mad and the populations ran too thin. So I'm glad Bioware/EA is taking a more reserved approach and doing things right with the servers. Lying on the forums is poor form.
  18. Too early for me to give solid feedback here. I haven't gotten to a point where stacking a meere 20 defense vs. 20 more endurance is noticable. I'm going with overall stat weight for now while leaning towards endurance for the age old tanking reasons.
  19. Just rare as hell. I had the same luck in getting them and it did take awhile. I don't think it took 100+ but must have taken a good 20-40 attempts before getting the 6 or 8 I needed for all my reusable tier 1 items. I do send my droid to do the companion gifts while my other companion does the actual medical supplies, which speeds things up. Don't forget that higher affection yields better results too.
  20. I play a Vanguard so I cover my butt as often as possible with armor or those trench coat things. Not so bad when everything is already bulky, blends in.
  21. I work in Oakland, everything looks normal to me in game.
  22. Random thought, but something I've seen in the past. Those little authenticators sometimes have issues when going through areas of extreme cold/heat and/or altitudes. I know this from experience and having authenticators for years. I work in the silicone valley and had one die while in flight. Had another die when I went to Reno over the pass. It was 80+ degrees in the valleys, but near freezing over the pass. I guess the temps killed the authenticator because I left it in the trunk. Not saying that you getting a damaged one is acceptable, but simply some food for thought.
  23. Well unless you're playing a Sage or Sorc, then yes things get tougher. If you were ever in the beta you saw the different phases and how they continued to adjust difficulties. To where one build Hammerstation was a pain, the next it was still interesting and finally it was balanced. The hundreds of people posting about difficulty post 30 and then post 42 was also everywhere. The game does get tougher, much tougher then anything WoW presented after Vanilla and almost in-line with some old school EQ fights. Which is a good thing, I don't prefer easy or simple.
  24. Grats on being level 7? Currently level 25 on my Vanguard and things are VERY different at the 22+ level. Get to 30 and things even more interesting. Right now there is no way I could kill a gropu of 4 regular MoBs with just explosive round before running out of ammo. I have to get in there and stock strike, interrupt, sticky grenade etc. The same goes for higher and harder MoBs. They start using abilities, some of them nasty, along with healing. Judging the game, which hasn't changed at all, from level 1-10 is not a good review. Bad trolling is bad.
