  1. Worried about getting 1 shot by a 33K terminate? Sounds like you better stack some endurance . muahahahaha. <realizes what he just said and hangs head in shame>
  2. Another issue with a charging shield buff for overheals is boss swap mechanics. The first encounter that comes to mind is TfB phase 2. Half the phase I'm building up a defensive shield. And I spend a lot of time functioning as OT, if I spend the very much time on the boss before picking up spawning adds, I've got a fairly hefty shield built up. I like the idea of the shield buff, but I think it ends up being OP if you're smart about the circumstances you put yourself in and would end up being too powerful in comparison to other tanks' mitigation.
  3. Because Neo, we know you're such authority on the matter.
  4. Holy non sequitor batman. Why waste time with anything constructive when we have this wonderful thing called "argumentum ad hominem"? So it's fairly commonly accepted that RP servers tend to draw a more mature crowd than PvE which tend to draw a more mature crowd than a PvP server just by the nature of what the server claims to be about. RPers are very involved with the interpersonal interactions of the game. How they interact with each other, the friends they make are what defines the enjoyment of the game. PvP is competitive by nature so you're going to have people who are there to establish dominance. It's enjoyable in it's own right, but it's also tends to appeal to a more juvenile audience. Also, I figure I'll be around. I don't see the guild (Eternal Guardians) going anywhere, so I'll be looking forward to many more smashes on BC.
  5. I don't think I've ever been accused of hacking... I'm terribad....
  6. Well then shoot. Moco <Eternal Guardians> scoundrel healer
  7. I'm going to help some of you out here Apparently he doesn't want sign ups here. I think that's what he means by "follow the listed format".
  8. I'm kind of in the same boat as Scyn, I can't be there that early, but could make it a little later. But again, if I can't make it, no big deal. So I'm literate. 2 PST works for me.
  9. I plan on signing up, I just hadn't heard a set time yet.
  10. I always thought corner-capping was classified as exploiting. I'm not talking sneaking back onto the wall to LOS people, but straight up sticking yourself so far into the corner you're barely visible to someone staring straight at you. There's a difference between "ninja skills" and "utilizing" programming bugs to cap while hidden in a wall. I know there are those who will say "it's all part of the game" but they're poo poo heads, so they're wrong (that's right, I went second grade on y'all).
  11. I agree it would take forever to pick teams (unless you set an order, but even then it would take a while). I'm thinking though that if you set a time, then get sign ups, pick captains, they pick teams all beforehand and get things rolling at the predetermined time. That lets everyone determine if they can attend and also leaves time to put teams together.
  12. A thought, I think it would help most people if you set a time and take whoever comes. That way people can commit based on their schedules. Also, this may be a good activity to do frequently as long as organization isn't too difficult.
  13. I think part of the anger regarding implementation of the name/hair/face/etc. change feature is the implementation mechanism. I personally think it's the kind of feature which should come free with a subscription, but nobody cares what I think anyway. By putting it on the CM though, devs are giving themselves ground to say "well yeah it's free to subscribers" because we get CC, but use is limited unless people buy more CC. Use of these added features also competes with subscribers' ability to access other content being generated for the CM. The take home message is "if you want to access all the content BW is producing, it's going to cost more money" beyond your subscription. When I subscribe to a game, I expect to give a certain amount of money to the company to access what they produce, not to have to fork out more money to buy what they produce. I personally probably won't use it anyway, but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth to feel like I'm being nickel and dimed after paying my sub.

    lol bolster

I thought the entire point of different gear sets was to ensure that to be competitive in high end PvP one didn't need to be competitive in high end PvE and vice versa. Optimizing your PvE or PvP gear shouldn't be contingent upon doing the other. Gear doesn't make bad players good (there are some geared out PvPers on our server who are terrible), and bolster won't fix the bad players. Often times though gear and skill are gained simultaneously though. People do learn how to PvP as they're being ground to dust over and over again. If people want to be competitive, let them learn as the underdog, it forces resourcefulness. Lastly, if we're bolstering PvE armor for PvP, can we bolster PvP for PvE? I would love for expertise to give me a stat buff for PvE content.
  15. Denny, assuming some follow a rotation, this should average out in the parse anyway, ie. burst at the start or 2 seconds in, or 10 seconds in has the same net effect on the parse. The only way that should really be an issue is if they start and end their parse and big crits, which really aren't going to make that big a difference and it probably still very characteristic of their dps.
  16. So I got into an Ascencion HM KP run on my under geared infiltration shadow being lead by Jballa. On the puzzle boss, some says in vent "alright, if people want to start hitting the boss to generate focus and such, feel free to do that". So I start building up stacks of the proc thinking "hey, this is a great idea", then the jet is fired, I'm too close (I think it was my first or second time there) and I'm promptly dead. All I hear in TS is Jballa asking what happened and how (it's tough dying as soon as the fight starts mind you) and I got REALLY quiet. And "we" ( everyone else, I was dead the whole time) still got the droid down. By the way Jballa, in case you were wondering, that's how I managed to die so fast. And don't worry, I haven't done that in a long time. It's been a solid 2 weeks I swear.
  17. Mel, I'm going to start splitting hairs on you here. While it's true that it take 8 people to not have anyone at the node, it's one person's fault that there is no one at the node. And that's the person who left it. Inexperience is one thing, but watching repeat behavior after they've been told otherwise is different. When I run off and stand in the corner dancing all match long, the loss is probably more my fault than anyone else's. Reasonable mistakes are acceptable (like getting stun locked by 2 stealthies while solo), leaving a node undefended I don't think is one of those, nor is dancing all match long (unless you look REALLY good doing it).
  18. Personally, I'm with Nabi here, and I frequently comment in ops chat about why nodes are undefended. The problem Valya is that in most pugs, if there's a healthy fight at mid (which there usually is) it's hard to be on top of your game while keeping watch on the node. And there are plenty of players I've seen get impatient in just up and leave the node. There are some things we grudgingly accept, like some people are mediocre or bad at their class. Other things are less acceptable, like someone deciding they don't want to defend and not telling anyone about it.
  19. Subscribers are paying for maintenance, continued access and new content (and paying extra for the occasional expansion). What are we currently getting? Access, some content (less than other games), bugs that aren't being fixed (they do fix some, others have been around ages) and cosmetics we have to go to the CM to access. It feels like our sub money is going to fund content for F2Pers to buy. A part of me hopes Disney pulls the plug so I can walk away from EA/BW without walking out on my guild.
  20. From your description it sounds like The Eternal Guardians may be a good fit (eg.guildlaunch.com) but if I may make a suggestion or two. It sounds like you're in a pretty good community already, just aren't getting into end game content like you would like to. My suggestion would be to find some contacts who can help you get into that content and learn some things about gameplay, mechanics, roles, etc. I know there are a number of people out there who do that and may be willing to help out. A good guild where you fit well is valuable, I would try to find people willing to help learn how to do things better instead of switching guilds. It's easier to teach people how to play better than it is to teach people to get along. If your guild is interested in something along those lines, I can talk to some of the other players in EG about helping out. We're not the best players around, but at least we're pretty. If you have any questions, you can contact me in game on Moco, Azucena or Chapulin.
  21. Dash, don't get me wrong, the few people I put on low priority for behavior aren't there for killing me (I wouldn't heal anyone then) or even the people who are on me all match long match after match. It's people who consistently just treat people poorly and it doesn't happen very often at all either. As for my selection of priority, there are certain players who are higher value due to the needs of the team. Other healers, healer killers, healer tanks, people who are going to make better decisions when it counts. If I can keep everyone up, I do, but if I can't I would rather have the better players still alive. And Desii, you are right to focus Chi, because it is his fault.
  22. I start off with the person who's taking damage, and if I have multiple people taking damage, I tend to prioritize my tank if in trouble, then effective dps (clearing the pesky dps off of me gets them priority) and in general people I want around because they're making the right decision. Then it goes to whoever is taking damage. Then there are a few people who, because of their behavior, I try to avoid healing... And for dps, I'm kind of bad at target selection half the time. But usually I try for healers or problem players (same paradigm for healing, but these are people we need dead instead). I'm still pretty bad at dps though too.
  23. Says the one who brought a personal dispute onto the server forums posing as someone else to sully their name. Stay classy buddy.
  24. All a ranked solo queue would do is have people queueing for ranked for better rewards without knowing what they're doing. There needs to be incentive to become better, not rewards for venturing somewhere you're not prepared for. Nabi, I would agree with a ladder system based on record (valor is just a matter of grind), but then you run into queue time problems, plus I don't think BW knows how to make it work yet.
  25. Eternal Guardians is still looking for another guild to run a mixed ranked team with. If anyone is interested, contact myself (Moco/Azucena) or Chireth/Silversaint/Silverdawn. We may not be the best PvPers on the server, but we sure are the prettiest.
