  1. Well those people don't have to use the ability, then. Just like they don't HAVE to assign members of the opposite faction as allies in their family tree, even though they can.
  2. Well it could be both, depending on your family tree connection to that alt. My original idea was that it would be cool to have your alt or alts help you in combat, not really in a show-off kind of way. Also, if the alt that you summon is of the opposite faction, I don't think many people would get hung up on the fact that they should be enemies. I think most people would like the idea.
  3. Well it might have to depend on what connection your alt has to your current character. If they are an ally or family member, they might be inclined to assist you dispite the different factions. Maybe if they are a rival, it could be an out-of-combat thing like the Companion Dance ability in which you call them down for a duel or something. Doesn't really help you in combat, but it would be a fun little thing to show off to other players with.
  4. So I was thinking about some cool legacy perk ideas that could actually be implemented into the game with relative ease, and I thought about how cool it would be if you could have your alts fight with you every now and then. At first, I thought it was a silly idea, but after thinking about it for while, it doesn't really seem that impossible. It would probably have to be an ability that you couldn't use that often, with a long cooldown or only usable during Heroic Moment, but I can't really see any reason why it couldn't be done. It could have a little animation of your character using his or her holocom, then one of your alts comes running up from behind you and joining in the fight for a few seconds to a minute or something. Their stats could be scaled up or down to match your current character's level, like the way they do it in PVP warzones if you're below level 50. I think it would make the whole Legacy family tree idea seem alot more real to have your other family members help you out in such a way. Thoughts?
  5. I noticed when I activated sprint on my character today, that it didn't make that "whoosh" sound anymore. Is it supposed to be like that now? I could see how it would help in PVP so no one would hear you in some kind of sneaky situation, but I'd like to know for sure that it isn't a glitch. Also, it makes a clicky sound when I turn it off. Is this happening to anyone else?

  7. Wow, that changes everything. You were right, that was very unexpected. By the way, I think it's cool that you labeled the spoiler like that. Not many people would.
  8. Sure! It's something I've always wondered about and analyzed. Hearing the true story would be great, but what I think happened was basically that the Force itself conceived him, much in the way that God theoretically conceived Jesus. I know that this is not a new concept, but what I believe is that Qui-Gon should have left him on Tatooine. If the Force created him, it obviously did it for a reason and probably had it's own plans for his future and how he would bring balance. I think that it was naive for Qui-Gon to believe that he, the Jedi or even the Sith could somehow guide him and his destiny. Who knows how things would have turned out if he had left him on Tatooine? Events may have gone more smoothly or they may not have, but as far as I know, Jedi are supposed to trust in the Force and not try to shape it in order to achieve their goals.
  9. I'll look into that. Anyway, I feel that this conversation is pretty much spent. I have a theory about Anakin's story though, if you'd like to hear it.
  10. Hmm, interesting. Is there an official source where I can read this? I admit that I don't know much about Star Wars lore outside of the movies and a few games, but this sounds like it would be accurate and I'd like to see it for myself.
  11. I find it interesting that you mention Qui-Gon Jinn, as he was the one that ignored the council's advice not to train Anakin. This was a perfect example of someone setting aside their order's extremist beliefs in favor of doing what is right. The Jedi want to destroy the Sith, while the Sith want to destroy the Jedi. The council forbade training for Anakin, even though it was clear to them that he was the chosen one, mentioned in the prophecy of the one who would bring balance to the Force. Balance would mean no Jedi and no Sith, only the Force.
  12. I'm not saying this isn't true, but even if she was the closest thing to Satan in the Star Wars universe, that doesn't mean she was stupid. The Sith are not always wrong and the Jedi are not always right. This is clearly stated in the movies, the books and even the games. Seeing things in black and white blinds you to many things, and I think everyone can agree on that. Take Jolee Bindo from K1 for example. He stated that he see has had his fill of both light and dark, and sees more grey than anything else. Even looking at his character sheet shows that his alignment was just a little above halfway, which meant relatively neutral. He was arguably the wisest character in the game, and that should tell us something.
  13. I agree. Kreia was wiser than the average player gave her credit for. She had alot of profound wisdom to share with the Exile. In my experience of K2, after hearing her tell me something from an objective point of view, I would at first think she was being very harsh and *****y, but after thinking about it for a minute, I thought she had a really good point that could even be applied in the real world. Of course, not everything she said was based on pure objective thinking, but I think that even if she did turn out evil in the end, both the Jedi and the Sith could learn some valuable lessons regarding their black-and-white views of the galaxy.
  14. Would you like some cheese with that whine?
  15. This... This is absolutely the greatest forum thread ever to be posted anywhere, ever. Praise be to the one true Orange Pixel!
  16. Hmm, good question. I was thinking about this during the final few months before launch. I originally thought of Kashyyyk, but then I thought it might not fit well in an MMO. Kashyyyk is a primative planet with VERY limited infrastructure and a population comprised primarily of wookiees, a non-playable race that can't speak galactic basic. Knowing that, pretty much everything you would do on this planet would revolve around the wildlife of the planet, and that doesn't really fit in with the bigger picture of the war between Republic and Empire. You would also have to listen to ALOT of wookiee-speak which would get old really quick. Perhaps most importantly, canon-wise, a bunch of non-wookiee players running around, outnumbering the native wookiee population heavily contrasts against the Kashyyyk we see in KotOR 1, in which the player character even being on the planet is a major issue with the wookiees because they pretty much dislike outsiders. Having said all that, I think the planet I'd really like to see introduced in SWTOR would be either Yavin, Dantooine or Naboo.
  17. Hmm, well I'm at least glad to know that it's not just me. I wish I'd known about this before I renewed my subscription, though. I'd have preferred to wait until it was resolved, as I absolutely hate playing a game while something like this is happening.
  18. I just came back to the game after a month of inactivity and upon creating a new bounty hunter, I noticed that the background music is not playing until my character arrives at the Poison Pit cantina. Also, I noticed that somtimes during character creation, there is absolutely no sound. Does this sound like something that could be attributed to the issues being discussed here?
  19. Thanks so much for starting this thread! I feel alot better about my chances of getting in today. I pre-ordered on Aug 3 and you seem pretty logical so I'll probably get in on the first or second wave. Thanks again!
  20. People who pre-ordered on July 27th are in? Hurray! I pre-ordered on August 3rd so I hope to get in tomorrow.
