Because of how they move. X wings and Tie fighters move like jets. There is not atmosphere in space it would just be a a rocket. Star wars is a Future Fantasy a part of Sci fi. Technology takes the place of magic. How they look was much more important then how realistic they where.

I find that's all moral choice systems do in games if you play evil just make the protagonist unlikable.

I played WoW the story wasn't good enough to make me miss any of it. Sure it was fun to chop up some Horde every now and then especially when I was playing on my Gnome warrior because it was just funny. But I didn't care about the story. To me the faction pride thing was like watching Red Vs Blue. "Blue sucks Red is awesome" Ect....
