  1. Dear everyone, I am not Gok Wan, I am certainly not Christian Dior. However, i do know i would not be caught dead in consular columi gear as a type 3 male character (unless i rolled a character on a RP server and named them Priscilla). With the return of mass effect 3 to our fine machines could we get some promotional love in the way of that old past time; Blood dragon armour. A colour change for factions, a slight modification to the models for different armour types, etc. Attach the items to a promotional code vendor, cha-ching! $$$ i'm happy.
  2. Critically crafted orange gear is a good way of making armour crafting professions more viable, couple that with the increase in reverse engineering chance, and it would make armour crafting professions the source of potentially better custom gear. Bioware are doing something it's just not going to happen by next Tuesday.
  3. Weekly leader boards for thes kinds of things would help add some competition. Pazaak would be cool. Could have rare cards hidden similar to datcrons (or not- that might actually wind some people up). But yeah, Pazaak would be handy for when your wIting on an ops group to come online etc.
  4. A note on the emails. I think they serve their purpose for off shoots and side bits, but for main story line quests, say the main arc of a planet or your class quest, would be great. You could even set them up through emails. For instance, a mysterious benefactor contributes xxx to your credit line in hopes of discussing a lucrative deal/ diplomatic opportunity etc. Only to be revealed later as an arch enemy thought dead in act 1, dun dun dun!
  5. I really like this idea. You could take it a step further and add level 50 content in this manner without really having to add extra environments or modify too much. For example; If you chose to kill some one early on, a member of that persons family leads you on a chase through previous zones. They set up ambushes and you have several fights before the big conclusion. Pretty simple stuff but it would add a bit more variety and adhere to bioware's previous work by having consequences to our actions in addition to light or dark side points or companion affection.
  6. I bind target nearest friendly to an easily accessible key (G for me) and guard on "Q" so I can quickly target an ally getting focused, hit guard and tab back to the nearest enemy. It really helps to have both guard and target nearest ally in close proximity to each other for easy guard switching
  7. Given the drop down menu in crafting professions has a legacy tag, I am going to go out on a limb and suggest legacy type items will perhaps be either: 1. Craftable scaling armour for Alts 2. Orange custom gear only obtainable through the legacy system that binds to account. will admit it would be interesting to see items requiring a certain legacy level and different crew skill requirements across a particular legacy. However such items might be unreasonable. Unlocking additional customization at character creation is cool too.
  8. I reckon it would trivialise the choice the game gives you to be able to switch at will. can understand it would be nice to be able to switch once or twice at level 10 before points are allocated in case the cat decides to moonwalk on your keyboard though. I think having the option to use the same character to fulfil most if not all roles available would be a shame and might dissuade some people from trying out another class. This won't apply to everyone i guess but it would be a shame none the less. sure if everyone can do everything it would be handy for those times your really stuck finding a certain role. But I think most people probably play with a group of friends that have a mix of characters anyway. If not it would be a good reason to make some more friends.
  9. aww you guys. isn't it awesome when gamers agree to disagree in a civil manner. I enjoy the game too for my own reasons. it is a shame it wasn't more to your liking, perhaps in time it might eventually cater to all our tastes. sad to lose such a polite young man never the less. Side note: (not being sarcastic, maybe just had too much wine over christmas) everyones asleep here trying to recover from all the eating.
  10. I'm confused? why would i envy some guy in the top end raid gear when it looks like a banana suit? (the consular end game stuff looks bad imho). tell you what OP - the moment i start to look at a hardcore player and envy them to the point where i want to be them, i'll quit. if it were to ever get to that, i probably wouldn't be able to afford the sub because of the divorce settlement anyhow. the friends and family i have that bought the game are playing it because it's fun and it's an activity we can do together on the cheap ( compared to going to the cinema each week for example). if one of us started spouting that they wanted to be like player "x" and pointed to some guy flexing in a city we'd probably take it as a prime opportunity to take said friend to the pub and try and get him laid.
  11. Check the development tracker. Additional UI customisation will come, its on the cards. It will likely just take longer than next week. Sure they could have shipped with a ton of features that might be considered as standard fair for an MMO of this generation. However, I would rather they implement sought after functions like UI customisation gradually and effectively. From a bug fix point of view, not shipping with full UI customisation, in my opinion, would remove a ton of factors when looking to work out bugs and fixes. then if more bugs appear after UI customisation is added, BW will have a good idea what may be causing issues and can fix it faster. TL;DR In all fairness you can't expect the game to be bug free on launch and adding extra customisation to the UI off the bat would have likely added to the process of fixing issues. loving what i was able to play so far btw (on holiday - back tomorrow and looking forward to it).
  12. BW will have worked out a system of triage for bug fixes and the more serious ones will be taken care of outside the usual patching process, just make sure you check on dev tracker to see what those are and if they apply to you. the patch will likely deal with less immediate patch requirements and more serious one that would be difficult to implement whilst the servers are up. check the class forums and customer service forums for issues similar to yours to find out if it is public knowledge. If you've sent of logs and information about your issue to BW already then they are likely aware and will resolve your issue. they likely care about the game as much as the fans. If you have seen no response from BW don't fret, as long as you have notified them with a ticket to the issue, they will know about it.
  13. for now i'd think it would be nice to think you've reached a milestone in your relationship with your companion. eventually BW should add more and we can pretend something bad happened. Grandma fess's funeral etc. i reckon BW have a few tricks up their sleeves for this. it is standard fair for them, they'll likely add in additional companion quests and what not. for now though - it might feel like the end of a new hope - everyone gets their medals luke doesn't know he's got a sibling.... here's hoping BW have a empire strikes back type blitz of revelations with our companions in the future.
  14. I've always interpreted neutral alignments to be instinctual reactions to situations or a way to help rationalize the actions of semi sentient beings (think along the lines of mother nature, animals etc). The lean towards good or evil is a cognitive choice a player has. Going against making any rational descision, and basing actions on instinct could be construed as being neutral. I think that is why Druids in d&d are predominantly neutral or true neutral. Not because they choose to balance their actions through conscious effort but rather they aim to act instinctively and in tune with Thier environment and surroundings. I would not discount the idea of a grey Jedi though if you were to rp one it would definately be a challenge. I would have thought revan was more chaotic good than evil. He acted for the benefit of others despite his actions leading to evil and devastating consequences. Hence he probably gave it alot of thought, which would go against my understanding of a neutral alignment. Just my opinion. Tl;dr My opinion is neutral alignment is like mother nature. No real ryme or reason for her actions she just does things. Because of this I don't personally think revan was of neutral alignment based on the fact he made a conscious descision to do the thngs he did. ( kinda think he was more chaotic good).
  15. I agree that would be pretty cool. Also if it is possible to eventually come up with extra story arcs for advance classes. That would be pretty interesting. nothing huge would have to take place. Perhaps for example; the jedi sage would resolve an issue through diplomatic means, talking to the necessary delegates... the shadow meanwhile would complete the exact same quest through stealth and guile, uncovering true motives behind strange stance changes in the galactic senate. that would be pretty cool. also maybe BW could eventually try adding alternative routes in flashpoints opened to advance classes, similar to the way an archeologist might find a lever in a flashpoint either a new route is discovered or a chest is revealed?
  16. I would like to let the OP know i share their view somewhat. A good community is about having an informative discussion on a topic we all share a passion for. The people that take the time to rant and complain about things probably wouldn't do so if they didn't care about the game in some way. I would hope in time the community will evolve. I think prior to beta, the community was united in its love of the game and discussion was a way to share the excitement. upon release, whilst we may still share a love of the game thier will be those whose experience will have been marred in some way. Best thing i would hope is that we aim to accept critiscism where ever it is given and help to either find resolution to the problem or find a middle ground through open debate. In turn, heated posters will hopefully learn to temper their threads with enough diplomacy that whilst the frustration of the player is clear, the player base will be willing to help and discuss the disgruntled players issues. TL;DR wouldn't it be nice if we all just got along. frustrated people try a little restraint whilst being vocal about problems, people responding try and give constructive feedback and try not to be hostile to OP's. may the schwartz be with you....
  17. wing commander/privateer they were tons of fun. The last few wing commanders were a bit meh but they did have Mark Hamill. they could have made more if they didn't add freekin freddy prince jnr and matthew lillard to the franchise with a poor movie adaptation. scratch that. I like Matthew lillard, I don't know why, I just do. I even enjoyed scooby doo somewhat. (something i will likely only admit to in real life after some hefty alcohol abuse). BUT FREEKIN freddy prince ****** JR.! why?? eurgh. probably best if they avoid making the mini game anything like wing commander as there is a line in my gaming habits that i do not wish to cross- it involves one of those japanese "convenience" chairs that prevent the need to Ever leave your screen....EVER.
  18. to the OP, I feel really bad for you and your kid. sucks if you have an issue personally, even worse when it's your kid. I can see the frustration and it feels like your hands are tied and its your son who suffers. I will say this however. despite having a bad experience with this bug and a poor experience with customer service, hang in there. I'm sure when it is fixed and hopefully you don't experience future issues, Your son will hopefully be quick to enjoy his continued experience and you will enjoy the experience with your son. circumstances might not be in your favour to do something else (not going to pry) but its christmas time so hopefully there is something to keep you guys occupied for a bit until a fix comes along.
  19. quick question, you don't have to be specific, but are there any boss style ships in game? thinking along the lines of end bosses in starfox etc. but really i'm on a nostalgia trip and hoping for some 1944 arcade style bosses. (1944 arcade game for those that might not know was and still is awesome. shooting power-ups to change them. - much like the shooter in the canteen in starcraft 2). boss mobs would be cool if they haven't got them already. if they do - awesome. incidentally i bought an MMORPG, any extras like a mini game are a plus for me. can see why others might want it expanded but lets be honest, no one bought this game solely to play an arcade style shooter online and alone. They'll work on it i'm sure but this is a welcome extra not deep and required content.
  20. I'll tell you what i'd like to see: if possible i'd like a flashpoint whereby the party is split at the start, and either have to jail break the other members or the group gets halved and 2 teams of 2 have to work in tandem to meet up further along. not saying the whole flashpoint should be like this but a section at the beginning. Maybe have characters scripted to meet other characters as old friends ( ala solo and lando calrissian). OOH that would be cool. imagine being tricked into a trap by one of your party only for them to come rescue you just after the cut scene that sees you locked in a cell. the following flashpoint could then have multiple paths depending on light side and darkside to escape your captors and erase any bounty they have on you from the ships systems... I have now decided i would like a suggestion forum. Anyone else have any thoughts on possible story based flashpoints. (reckon they'd be easier to manoeuvre players around with cut scenes).
  21. a few posts above explain that BW have both a new development and content team working on content and a team dedicated to bug fixes and other issues. two separate teams that allow them to solve problems and make content. The bug fixes are coming quickly. I'd also keep an eye on the constructive player made fixes and work arounds in the customer service forum to aid you in finding out if the issue could be something you can fix your end (I did this with a login unavailable issue that players found a fix for). that said, if you or friends have a serious issue, try to keep a cool head, screenshots, and logs of problems are a big help in fixing the problem so don't stop posting, just give as much info on the problem as possible. BW are doing a good job at bringing out fixes quickly and stealthily rather in one big go. with regards to UI customisation, it is something i'd love to see soon and i expect BW have listened and are already working on a good set of options. TL;DR BW is big and can multi-task, if you need a problem fixed give as much info as possible to BW, they can't fix things based on obscure rants and info. UI customisation will come and most likely soon. GJ BW - gratz on the number of subs so far. won't be long before you ding!
  22. kinda the same thing in skyrim to be fair. you can either blitz main story and complete it before you reach level 20 or you can do every quest that comes along and still not complete the game by level 53. there are also a number of additional ways to level outside traditional single player questing such as PvP and the rail shooter. my opinion would be play how you want. revisit content you might have skipped over and try out any other classes you're keen to try. i'd hazard a guess that there is already additional content and it is being held back in the same way DLC at launch is for some single player titles. as others have said your levelling experience should eventually even out. hope your still enjoying the game. edit: just a thought if you would prefer a challenge maybe try playing without a companion by your side if you haven't already. Might help add a little difficulty, not sure.
  23. agreed. cats are cool and everything but if were to pick any animal to follow simple instruction it'd have to be sheepdogs. then you'd just need a decent whistle. As to the OP, as stated before, beta testers will have played through a lot of the content already and would likely have a better grasp of controls, have watched the story, discovered what classes they enjoy most etc. it will be a small proportion of the player base. I'd imagine content patches might come on a similar release pattern as DLC. EA titles have a habit of releasing DLC right at launch. I would hazard a guess there is already additional content thats been created and they'll release it in leu. TL;DR folks from beta might have power levelled to raid now, new content has probably already been created and being held back for a bit, sheepdogs can raid better than cats.
  24. I had some issues with purchasing that required phone calls. I also had the login service unavailable issue that some fine folks on the forums were able to sort out. I'm lucky because my youngest brother was away and his machine is identical to mine. I was able to play EGA on his with no issues whatsoever (no launcher bugs, crashes etc). my other brother and I found a standard pop server and joined that on the 16th dec and we've not had any issues. Despite a few issues with purchasing and one major issue with not having certain files on my machine to allow the login service to run properly, The launch was fine for my brother and I. the issues i had were predominantly either my own computer, or billing so i'd say it was a good launch from me and my brother
  25. I agree. Not everyone's launch experience has been amazing and features can be added to make the game even better. I had a difficult experience which required phoning customer support twice. whilst customer service reps were polite only one was particularly helpful in finding a solution to my problem. I still have the "login service unavailable" issue that kind folks such as packet dancer began writing threads about to help find a fix. a fix was found and threads can be found by a google of: swtor login unavailable FIX! i'm on holiday at the moment so i'm getting my brother to try it so i can download the game. thankfully i was able to use my other brothers computer to play. despite all this i was excited for the game a year ago and not much has changed, I still cant wait to get home after this holiday and log back in (hopefully on my own computer). I can understand the frustration others have over legitimate complaints with regards to errors but as the above poster stated, they are working hard and relatively quick with pumping out fixes to the more serious issues. from my recent experience the only gripe i really have is it would be wise to implement a search function to the forums to aid those with similar problems. That way when a fix is found either by BW or the player base we can share it quickly. during the time i was able to play before holiday i was thoroughly enjoying the game GJ BW.
