  1. Interesting. I've just checked the list of Coruscant codices and I found this comment right below the list: Will go investigate this further. P.S. Yes, killed the first hostile Advozse there and received "Advozse" codex entry. Sweet! Perhaps some random beast now gives an entry on Quesh. I wonder which, though. I don't remember coming across any beasts other than lobels, that feline-like creatures, havraps and harvorisks .
  2. I've just checked my Consular, Smuggler and Trooper characters. All have 6 species entries now for Coruscant planet, of which only 4 can be obtained normally. Sullustan entry is bugged and now there is another unknown entry added. Can anyone else confirm this? Seems like one Bestiary entry was added to Quesh. All 3 characters now have 4/5 entries for Quesh, while swtor-spy has only 4 entries listed. And I can't find any reports about unobtainable Beast entry on Quesh. Any confirmation for this fact from other players? P.S. I can upload screenshots and provide links to show those seemingly newly added entries.
  3. I have noticed Coruscant has one more species entry added at some point this year. I remember having 4/5 score in species entries for that planet, but now it's 4/6, yet database websites all list only 5 entries (4 obtainable, the 5th is the known bugged Sullustan entry). Did anyone else notice that?
  4. I'm in the same boat for this. I am very happy to see Bioware started to slowly fix codex entries and hopeful to see more fixes coming in the near future. Perhaps if more lore-/exploration-loving players expressed their desire to see this game's feature finally fixed, we would see Bioware paying more attention to this annoying and ugly stain on the game's non-combat content.
  5. I guess I should explain the reasoning behind my frustration. Double-XP features makes playing tediously boring for those, who like to complete all quests. I very much enjoy doing quests in SWTOR over again when playing a new character, but when completing them become so stupidly easy because my character begin to outlevel challenges greatly, it takes a good portion of fun out of the whole process of playing SWTOR. Though, it is stupid to believe Bioware would care about a handful of players who enjoy playing the game that way, when there are thousands playing. I guess that's the price you pay when you talk of projects of this size. I can only hope developers of future games will make sure it doesn't take too much effort to add a simple on/off switch to features like that.
  6. Any news on that matter? This double XP boost makes me unable to play the way I want . And precisely during the days I actually have time to play. *le sigh Is there a work-around to somehow disable it permanently?
  7. I'm going through the Jedi Consular storyline the third time, and have just completed the accident with Laranna Fain. The voice acting for this small mission was so impressive, I thought it was worth sharing. While Jedi Consular's story has, probably, most of dull moments, this particular episode is fantastic. I don't know who was the actress behind Laranna Fain's voice, but she did it so well, I for the first time felt very sorry for an non-player character and for what she had to endure because of the plague, even though there is literally only a few lines describing the background for this whole small episode. She spoke so sincerely it did make me believe she's in pain and suffering from the consequences of her deeds. Very impressive part of the story, in my opinion. What memorable moments you have to share? And before all the people trying to give the opposite opinion on Voice Acting, saying that it isn't as good as it should've been sometimes, - yes, I know, and I am sure Bioware knows, this topic isn't about it. It is about Voice Acting good parts, those we all want to see more in the future. So please bring the negativity elsewhere.
  8. Yup, same here. I guess people were used to paying less than 3k creds per death. It is always painful, but give it a few of weeks and hardly anyone will remember how much they used to pay for repairs before 1.7.
  9. This is still a speculation. Bioware has their own Gameplay Telemetry Analyst, who analyses this sort of data: http://www.swtor.com/blog/meet-developers-jonathan-crow And something tells me, they saw a slowly growing inflation, before changing the power of the money sink. I am fairly sure they will give it a month or more, before concluding if the change was truly needed or not. Outraging players has little to do with that. After all, any change splits players into the satisfied and the dissatisfied camps.

Following this logic, we should make Nightmare mode have lower experience threshold, because somebody likes to do Nightmare modes, but doesn't want to spend time on that in order to do something he enjoys. You can do story or hard mode content, if you wipe too much in Nightmare, which causes you to spend more money, than you get without doing daily quests. The argument boils down to the fact, that whether Nightmare mode should require people put effort into preparation or we should have no such requirement for Nightmare mode and allow people who log only just for ops be able to sustain his wealth.
  11. If we are to change the game according to the fact, that some people have slow computers, we should make the game turn based or so slow, people with good computers will find it it terribly boring to play, because enemies pose much less threat than before.
  12. Absolutely the same situation here. Moreover, we came to consensus, that higher cost of a failure across-the-board makes us want to perform better. We can all agree that death had a fairly insignificant penalty in this game, prior to the patch. Most of guildies find themselves trying to avoid death more often now and the majority of us are happy about it. I don't see why it sounds so surprising to some people.
  13. Yeah, like that guys says, in 90% of time the engine gets the blame for no reason. In my opinion, it's the amount of polygons, textures, bloom particles and other sorts of things that makes the game look so incredibly beautiful and so demanding in terms of processing power. Hence the low FPS in crowded places. If you have problem on fleet, setting "Visible Character Limit" to low should help, I think. I have significantly worse hardware on my desktop, but I never have problems with FPS on fleet or anywhere else other than in Asation ops zone (setting texture anisotropy to low boosts my fps from 20 to 40-45 there). As in it never goes below 30 fps (which happens when I'm at GTM kiosk) and usually is around 50-60, depending on how many characters are there on the screen.

  15. I have to say, reading forums took away all motivation to play back in January last year, when I was taking it easy and leveling up slowly. Majority was ahead and were already flooding the forums with frustration. That was one of reasons I quit back then, as I felt there was no point in investing my time into the game when I needed to push through parts that bore me. Came back in May, however, and it's been a joy playing the game ever since. So ignoring posts from dissatisfied players, no matter how reasonable they sound, might be a good idea. You'll find frustrating parts of the game on your own no doubt about that and there is no need to consider other, it might only make it worse for no good reason.
  16. Yeah, as much as I love codex feature of the game, the fact that it still is in unfinished state as if we were still playing beta a year after the launch is very annoying, to say the least. And no news from devs about fixing codex ever since summer, when they promised the clean up the codex in the upcoming patch, which was 1.4. Should be able to find the exact statement somewhere on forums.
  17. As far as I know, SWTOR is using some beta version of Hero Engine, that was very heavily modified during the game development period. It is likely there is not much left that resembles the actual Hero Engine. I wish they could optimise Hard Drive read/write processes, that strongly affects the frame rates. And memory leaks. Engine optimisation overall. We've seen a few improvements in that area in the past year, but I haven't noticed any changes since June. Wish they were a bit more active and much more vocal about engine improvements. Oh, and the game is fantastic, I still call it one of the best looking MMORPGs to day. I don't see why improving graphics (such a vague term actually) should be in Bioware's high-priority to-do list.

Sets might not look great to everyone (however there are plenty of different gear pieces to make several sets I like), but your point is nothing short of stupid. P.S. Not to mention the time gap between the Old Republic and times of Battle of Yavin.
  19. What is that unique looking gear you are referring to? (which you call **** in the next question, for some reason, huh) If that's the gear or schematics one cannot obtain through completing missions or looting ops bosses or doing other in-game activities, then Cartel Market is in fact the only alternative way. If it actually should be obtainable through completing in-game activities, then the gear you can get, for example, from Asation ops should be considered unique. Which means that we do have unique looking gear that can be obtained without spending RL money. And we have an alternative to purchase another unique looking gear with RL money. I don't see how that is wrong.
  20. And why would you care somebody spent their cash on packs? It is like getting angry about people wasting hundred thousands in casino. Yet see quality of life stuff appear in the city. Or are you the paladin who wants to eliminate all unfairness on the planet? In which case our debate is over.
  21. Blatant lie. I get all the nice looking sets from GTM for credits. Hating without putting a second thought to what you say only creates silly, to say the least, statements.
  22. Good post, and I wholeheartedly agree on everything you said. The trick is that the end-game can be very different and the simplest solution Blizzard is following with Warcraft is creating a gear treadmill. This game has this component, and luckily, not quite to the extreme it was made in World of Warcraft. I hope Bioware isn't going this path all along. At least they were not entirely since launch. And the fact that they consider focusing more on horizontal progression brings a good future to players, who like to stick to one game for a long time. Bioware is adding reputation system in the next patch. While it's still not certain how the system is going to work, it adds horizontal character progression path for the end-game. I very much hope it isn't going to be a copy-paste Warcraft reputation system, that was never updated to make it engaging and fun to explore ever since the game launch and is based on either mindless monster grind or completing daily quests ad nauseum.   23. I gave you a real in-game example of a situation when it works. Which can be extrapolated to other CC abilities used by other classes for the same result - resolve is bar is full after 2-3 consecutive non-overlapping CC abilities are used. And you say it doesn't in response. Logic??? You die so much while permanently CCed, I'm afraid you need to change your tactic in PvP scenarios. Especially so if that happens so often with you against PuGs. In any warzone (except for carring a ball in Huttball) there is a way to avoid being outnumbered and slaughtered if you play careful and charge in only when you are sure there is no backup coming from a spawn point. Anyway, the main point is: Resolve works in 1vs1-2 or 2v2 scenarios. And works almost fine. It is not supposed to help you when you are being overwhelmed by a greater amount of players.
  24. So which is the most popular advanced class on your server, guys? Do Guardians/Juggernaut and Sages/Sorcerers outnumber other classes on your server as well?
  25. Ah, that. I don't remember bubble stuns being much of a problem. Sages/Sorcs seem to have hard time against melee classes. While ranged classes can't care any less if it stuns or not. And yes, I wasn't clear enough. I agreed with his first sentence. Sure, that might be an issue. But it has nothing to do with resolve. Resolve is meant to prevent you from being constantly knocked back or stunned. And it doesn't work only when you have 3+ players bashing on you, because the damage is so high you die before your full resolve bar can help you against anything else. In all other cases resolve works as intended. I use two stuns and the following knockback to interrupt a healing spell fills the healer's resolve bar immune. If there wasn't another damage from other players resolve will keep him immune for stuns and knockbacks for the next 15 or so seconds. How is that not working as intended is beyond me.
