  1. Arsenal is terrible for PvP its a pve turret spec that is at the complete mercy of anyone with the ability to interrupt. The only time you can be effective with it is if your team is already exerting so much pressure that you are left completely unattended to free cast. Pyro on the other hand is just fine for pvp, Many argue that its bad on the basis of not being on par with the PT version of the same spec but i dont think its fair to make comparison with something that is blatantly over tuned. The problem with the comparison is not that Merc Pyro is weak, its that PT pyro is overpowered.
  2. Thanks Even thou i cant say it dispelled any of the preconceptions i have about the usefulness of concealment ops in pvp i enjoyed watching it.
  3. I played a PT from EA and the pyrotech melee/ranged hybrid dps is very interesting conceptually it just needs a bit of rebalancing and complexity to be enjoyable. At present thou i find the tank and middle spec to be far more fun to play. All highly subjective of course. PT pyro dps is probably a good pick for someone who is inexperienced. The spec is currently over tuned and require very little input in regards to the results you get. In a pug environment you can be a dps asset by basically just using flame burst and rail shot. (Id say it is very likely to get hit by the nerfbat in the next batch of class changes.) When you are still learning the basic movement, map knowledge and class knowledge of pvp it can be a hindrance to have to contend with a more complex class as well, and you can always reroll or respec if things start to feel dull. In regards to healing merc.I have tried playing all 3 of the healer classes in pvp. At present the merc does feel like the less effective healer compared to the other two and its more gear dependant because you mainly rely on team support and your heavy armor for survivability rather then kiting or escapes. That being said, in capable hands with at least a minimum of team support, mercs are fully competent healers. I still wouldent dismiss it out of hand if it is something you enjoy. Unless you want to play the game like its a pro sport and min/max everything down to the bone it wont matter so much what you choose to play as long as you have fun doing it. Edit* DPS Sorcs do just fine in pvp (both pugs and rateds) but they require very active use of CC abilities and terrain advantages to be effective,
  4. Why are ppl still thinking that this is a healer issue? The game became less enjoyable for anyone who cares about pvp after 1.2 because low ttk means that tactics and skill count for a lot less and gear+ class matters even more. The longer ttk is the more wiggle room you have for creative play.

    Even If....

I was not tremendously impressed with GW2 after having played the beta. It looked nice and has a compelling presentation but the game play reminds me more of Console game then a PC mmorpg. For me at least that's not a good thing.
  6. ^ Not how i would phrase it but essentially this is true.
  7. This is exactly how i feel every single time i roll a new class in an mmo.
  8. Prior to 1.2 i was fine with the resolve system. It was a different route to take compared to diminishing returns but it seemed appropriate to make cc powerful in a game that had a very long TTK. It was important to coordinate CC to set up kills. Notice the passed tense... Post 1.2 TTK has dropped dramatically but CC durations are still the same, meaning it is fully possible for someone to be burst down inside a stun long before resolve has a chance to kick in. Hopefully the overwhelming negative feedback regarding the ttk issues with 1,2 will result in some sort of roll-back or fix, if not: the resolve mechanic most definitely needs to be revamped to better suit a more burst centric and fast paced pvp.
  9. I have seen plenty of post complaining about incredible smash crits from juggs. As-well as posts about how Juggs/guardians are unstoppable in huttball because of Charges and intercedes. My own personal opinion on this is: nerf marauders, juggs are fine.
  10. I have had this issue on occasion, i just chalked it up to lag.
  11. ^This Also: No one should expect any sort of survivability in pvp while keyboard turning, back-pedalling and clicking abilities. Binding your abilities to keys and learning how to move effectively is not a matter of personal preference it is absolutely necessary to even have any chance of success in pvp. No matter how clunky and awkward it may feel at first you will never even have a chance of becoming a good pvp player unless you do these most basic things.
  12. That particular bug seem to be impossible to kill, its re-emerged every time after the patchnotes claim to have vanquished it,. You can get "knocked trough" the wall and on rare occasions you will actually bug and spawn on the next spawnpoint before the door has been breached. Both cases will leave you free to cap the door from the inside. There was even a bug which allowed players to cap objectives while they where dead, although i think that one has been squashed by now. Like i said before i am not claiming that hacks do not exist, but it is my perception that in the vast majority of cases bugs and unorthodox use of class abilities and game mechanics is a much more feasible explanation then "HaX!"
  13. I have never seen anyone hacking in WZ and iv been PvPing on two different servers since launch. Not to say that it does not happen, Im sure it does. In my experience the vast majority of alleged hacker sightings are either ppl exploiting bugs (something i certainly do not condone, but it isn't hacking) or misunderstanding class abilities and game mechanics. Iv have many times seen ppl mistake predation and the pick-up speed buff for speedhacks, or accuse players chaining cool downs of some godmode cheat. I have even seen a warrior rage about hacks because another warrior used charges and intercede in quick succession, accusing him of hacking and having "infinite charges".
  14. I agree with the OP to some extent. Cross realm anything kills community. Iv seen it happen in WoW and it made pvp a whole lot less enjoyable when bitter rivals where replaced by anonymous randoms who might as well have been bots. On the other hand there are servers with such low population that pvp is virtually impossible and that just cannot be allowed to go on. Server merges would be the best solution because it would fix not only the pvp queues but every other low pop issue, questing, trade network, guild availability etc. Xrealm is a poor bandaid, but if bioware refuse to merge servers xrealm pvp is better then no pvp at all.
  15. As a pvp healer PT/VG dps are comparatively manageable compared to a lot of the other ACs. Their burst is highly predictable now post 1.2 and they have a long cool down in between spurts of big burst. A main component of their setup and dmg, the dots, are easily dispelled by the other tech ACs. They also die quickly, And that is their biggest weakness, their survivability is possibly the worst in the game in terms of cool-downs and o**** buttons. Its an all out offence glass cannon play style. A skilled PT/VG is none the less a dangerous opponent, but so is any skilled player regardless of the AC. I do not see anything particularly op about them. Now sents/maras on the other hand....
