  1. I'm lazy, so I'm going all main stat now for PvE since that's what I could craft asap. As stat budgets increase and I pick up more Cunning from Armorings/Mods I will pull back some Cunning Augments for Power. Who knows, I may even wind up all Power augments once I convert one of my Biochems to an Armstech. We shall see...

For PvP I will stick with all Cunning.

  2. My two biggest gripes are Volatile Substance and the hole left by removing Hidden Strike.

VS - I hate the random time delay in detonation. Despise would actually be a better word...you never know when the damn thing is going to blow. I really hate when it fails to detonate at all. I also don't like the fact that in order to reliably fire off this ability I have to delay using it until I dot someone up with a long term dot. It removes counter play options by preventing you or your team mates from CC'ing that target.

No Hidden Strike - I can live with less up front burst because Backstab is now Hidden Strike when used from stealth. What I don't like is the loss of HS when you in combat stealth. It annoys me both in PvP and PvE.

    Proposed Changes

    - Make VS a time bomb that goes off after 3 seconds. That, along with the huge orbiting probe graphic, gives people time to react but ensures that the skill will actually go off, and at a predictable time. It also means you are not forced in to using a skill that prevents you from using CC.

    - Cloaking Screen resets the cool down on Backstab. Make it a part of the Jarring Strike utility trait. That gives DPS Ops a clear choice between a strong offensive Utility and strong defensive Utilities in the Ultimate tier. Jarring Strike would definitely add to your burst, but it would come at the expense a strong defensive perk as a point of balance.

  3. Nobody is going to drop biochem completely. With how absurdly easy it is to get grade 11 bioanalysis mats everyone will just make their own. The only limited is the stupid implant white pieces which for some reason only have 1 mission and is only moderate chance..

I will drop it completely on a number of alts. I only need one Biochem to make the consumables...everyone else can use them freely no matter what tradeskills they choose. I will keep Bioanalysis to gather mats but there's no good reason to keep Biochem itself once reusables with a craft level requirement are gone. As soon as those alts are a high enough level to use the new non-reusable items they will drop Biochem.

Also I'm not holding my breath that it will remain this easy to get mats. I almost spit my beer all over my monitor when I saw how much I was getting from harvesting nodes and corpses. I'm already steeling myself for the inevitable nerf.

  4. Blood Boiler...not a fan so far. It hits hard enough, but the activation time is so variable. Sometimes it goes off within 2 seconds, sometimes it's 1-2 GCD later, and sometimes it fails to go off at all despite having bleeds on the target. I'm hoping it's just lag related due to all the people in these zones because right now Blood Boiler isn't reliable.

I want to control when my burst damage goes off on a target. I don't like this silly looking probe sitting around waiting until it decides to blow up. If it doesn't get better I'm going to be very put out.

  5. For PvP I don't see how you pick anything except Evasive Screen and Evasive Imperative. In a world of every DOT being uncleansable you just can't pass up a faster cleanse, plus a free second cleanse when you combat stealth. I don't like it much since Concealment loses Jarring Strike and Revitalizers from their tree, and Lethality loses Augmented Shields and Escape Plan from their tree, and it hurts not being able to put them back.

I'll probably stick with Pin Down and Advanced Cloaking for mid tier. Sedatives sounds great in regs where you regularly get to get back in stealth and sap someone out of combat. Maybe I'll swap them depending on what I'm doing.

  6. Speaking of which.. since we got our rewards the day after the patch.. I cannot see how bioware could POSSIBLY even had the CHANCE to overlook the leaderboards for misuse. Hence I don't think they actually did.

Not that that should've come as a surprise..

Not a surprise at all. Still...I was expecting them to wait a week to send out the rewards to at least try and support the illusion of examining their data.

  7. This sort of thread shouldn't come as a surprise. Bubble Stun and Electric Bindings for all Madness Sorcs is going to cause a lot of these complaints. You knew the second you saw the Disciplines that it would be coming...
  8. Chances are the devs will not respond. So here is as "official" a response as you are going to get....

reusables are dead and you are the poster child as to why. When players take a crafting skill solely for a very small number of items that are reusable, that crafting skill is broken/imbalanced. And your 'willingness" to give up that crafting skill in favor of something else is the intent. So again, poster child.

I'm sorry I don't live up to your expectations. With 13 alts there's zero reason to take multiple, useless trade skills. Why should I waste time leveling a second Armortech, or any other redundant 'production' skill? Having multiple Biochems once all the other crew skills are covered means I waste less time gathering mats to spend on one time consumables.

Now if you'll excuse me I will wait for a proper response. This is a rather large change to two of the primary crew skills...it's not unreasonable to ask the question.

  9. So I'll be missing out on all the quest rewards until I'm 60 and therefore able to spend them?

Sadly...yes. Bioware could have implemented the cap/overflow such that this was not the case, but they didn't. If you have over 1000 Basic Comms you will not earn any more until you go under the cap.

I'm not in game yet, so I can't recommend any specific things, but there is a work around. Buy anything for Basic comms, even if you don't want it. All you want is that 2 hour sell back timer. Buy enough things to get under the cap and you can earn quest rewards. Before the timer runs out sell the things back, buy some more things...repeat until you're 60. It's what PvP people have done forever to store extra Warzone comms, and it will work for you as well.

IMPORTANT: When you go to sell back to refresh the timers make sure you have enough 'free space' to get a full refund. If you sell something back worth 100 Basic comms and already have 978 you will only get 22 comms. Buy something new first to make space, then sell one item, then buy one...repeat as needed.

  10. Just wanted to see if I could get some insight in to your design philosophy going forward before throwing away a fully leveled tradeskill. Reusable Biochem items are gone, as are Cybertech. Before I drop these for gathering skills (one of everything elsewhere) I would like to know if "No more reusable items" will consistently stay your policy going forward. I don't want to drop Biochem on a bunch of alts just to find out in 3.2.4 that you've changed your mind and are bringing them back.

Can we plant a flag in the ground and make this "official", or at least as close to official as possible? I'm sure there's a lot of Biochems and Cybertechs out there that would appreciate the response.

    Thanks!

  11. the other classes, have cooldowns on their dots. Scoundrels do not.

Creeping Terror has no cool down.

Dot spread is not a great concern for us right now in pvp.

I think that will change rapidly, for everyone.

I'd rather just see the Shrap Bomb DoT spread work for both snipers and operatives. I mean, it's not as good as Death Field (narrower radius), but it's certainly better than Carbine Burst.

    I absolutely agree.

As to not being as good as Death Field I agree. It's not just the narrower radius though, even if that radius difference means a significant difference in actual area effected. What's more important is that an Assassin will get to keep Creeping Terror refreshed on one target for free, spread it to anyone remotely close to that target, and add Demolish as a bonus if it's active...all for using a key AOE damage skill that they're going to use anyway. Not needing to use the extra GCDs, along with the resources to cast the extra skill to spread, is pretty big.

The fact that DF is ground targeted is also pretty important. That's a lot of extra flexibility in who you want to spread to compared to any other class, including Snipers.

  12. No, you're not imagining. Base cool down in 3.0 is 30 seconds, so yes it's a nerf. It's only 25 seconds if you take the utility trait Escape Plan. Personally I don't see anyone using that utility trait. There's too many better alternatives in the Ultimate tier.
  13. Yes, we will have plenty of TA to spend. What we won't be doing is spending it on a useful AOE skill to spread DOTs. Carbine Burst is terrible outside of stupid PVE trash mobs that happily clump up on a tank. If we are going to be stuck with this garbage it should at a minimum spread both our DOTs....like Death Field.

Why doesn't Lacerate spread DOTs for Hatred Assassins? It's melee range, and it would keep a melee class from spreading DOTs at range. Heck, it's far easier to target people with it than with Carbine Burst, so Assassins would still be in a better place. Why the double standard?

Sever tendon grants TA, gotta shove that one in the mix too!

Possibly for PvE, but no one will ever take that Heroic in PvP.

As for multi-dotting - you could have it worse. Look at Pyro PTs.

    Their multidotting capabilities?

Flame Sweep applies Combustible Gas Cylinder. And.... Thats it.

PTs don't exactly compete for the same roles as Assassins and Operatives. Might as well throw every class in the mix and compare DOT spread.

  14. So? Nobody complaining about carbine burst spreading our Corrosive dart, while Snipers can spread it with Corrosive Grenade?

Why is the operative getting treated like this?

Both Warrior subclasses if able, spread their dots with Smash.

Both Assassin and Sorc Spread their dots with Deathfield!!.

Its like making the Assassin use Lacerate to spread dots, even than!!! its better than carbine burst!!

I freaking demand OPs to be treated equally !

I would complain but it won't make a difference. It's an arbitrary change just to provide unnecessary 'class differentiation' and they won't change it just because, you know, spreading with Grenede makes sense.

  15. I was going to do a comparison between DOT spec Mercs and Sorcs...then I realized there's no point. Bioware already sat down and decided that one ranged DOT spec would be able to maintain and spread two of their key DOTs simply by using a core, rotational skill. They decided the other ranged DOT spec should stop what they're doing for single target damage and use two different, non rotational skills to maintain two of their key DOTs on multiple targets.

Sorcs get DOT spread for free, and at no expense of their single target rotation while Mercs get....a kludge? I'm not sure how to describe it. Heck, I don't know if it's even sustainable. I know Sorc rotations will be sustainable as nothing changes from focusing on single target to AOE DOT spread. It would be nice if the same sort of forethought was applied to Mercs. Or maybe Bioware just got lucky as there's only one place to put spreading DOTs on a Madness Sorc. Who knows.

  16. Scoundrel is fine, the missions are fine. Tank companions (other than self healing Treek) are generally terrible. Their defenses are only a little bit better than a DPS companion, they don't use their limited cool downs well, and they generally die rapidly unless you're a full heal spec dedicated to keeping them alive.

Go DPS spec, get Guss or Treek, and murder everything. They will "tank" for you by peeling everything you aren't attacking with heal aggro. That lets you get a free back attack every time you move to a new mob. Add some CC to make packs more manageable and you can easily handle anything while leveling, including heroics.

No it is a balance critique, not a request for help. So, thank you, but I have been playing SWtoR since the Beta so I know what to do. In fact my Scoundrel was created within the first three months of SWtoR going Live. I always thought BW would make it fun to play though if I waited long enough.

If you are having trouble when you're in purple gear and you're over leveled for the quests I would suggest that you do in fact need some help. Nothing wrong with that, or with not enjoying the play style of a particular class. The class is fine though.
