  1. As obvious as it is that it is gambling, EA could never admit it. Gambling is highly regulated and taxed, any game that uses these types of packs would be opening a giant can of legal worms if they came out and actually said it.
  2. They would rather you pay for them via the Cartel Shop. Not quite crossing the pay to win line as space is just a time sink mini game, but they are getting close. Also stealing business from my Cyber in the long run
  3. Easier than what exactly? Easier to output damage? It should be, there are only two true defensive cool-downs (three if you want to count a wz adrenal) along with the 2 stuns that could be used in any manner of ways. While not rocket science you can't just faceroll your rotation, that turns into overheating. I fully agree that it is generally people mis/not using their defensive cool-downs properly that gets them blown the heck up. pro tip, when you see a PT that has high heat, don't cc, slow, knockback, that just allows us to vent and become deadly again. Plenty of times I'm yelling at my monitor, either because i spaced or the ppa procs were being very unkind "Come on, someone knock me back, stun me, anything ffs!"
  4. I think there would be, for one that's 400ishK you don't have to spend on augments, and that much less to change them out. There would also be less of a gear gap, 10 augments is 180 extra stat vs the 270 of 15. Basically i'm trying to say that the current system discourages experimentation as the cost to change things up and try different things is very high.
  5. So we have all been living under the new augment system since 1.2 and it was then expanded greatly in 1.3. In that time I have noticed a few things I want to bring up for discussion here Pro's: Tons of Customization options, a min-maxers dream (or nightmare as you ponder power vs main stat). Want to max out presence? There is an aug for that. Economy - gives weavers and mechs with slicing something worth selling. At peak I could sell them at 175k all day long, now its down to about 75-90k, but still can make a living off of them. Con's: Extreme stat gap between the Augmented and the non augmented. Especially in Warzones. Obtaining augments is based on one thing and one thing only, Credits (even if you craft them yourself, crew skill missions cost $ as well). This forces some PVPers to PVE just for credits for augments. Sheer Volume of augments needed - Everyone needs 15 augments per armor set to be at optimal. Cost of changing specs - at least for a Powertech there is one spec that favors power over aim (debatable I know but stay with me here), so if i go from the power spec to the aim spec that's 15 augments i need to change along with however many mods and enhancements. It also makes trying out different specs a pain, I have not changed for at least a month thinking of the cost associated vs i just don't have the time to farm credits like I used to. Perhaps a downfall of the min-maxer all or nothing mindset, but i've heard this from a couple other classes/specs. Time Til Death. Anyone think that the thought of 15 augments per combatant wasn't exactly placed into the TTD equation? The DPS increase seems to far out scale the uptick in HP at least on DPS augments. Could go either way: Time Sink, some will like having something more to work toward, others will see it as needless addition to the grind Out of the 12 augments available which one am I supposed to buy? I can see a newer player feeling overwhelmed feeling the need to buy 15 augments and not having too much of a clue as to which ones they need without hours of pouring over fan sites and forums. The cost associated with the augments is prohibitive to experimentation, and few like figuring out they just spent a couple mil on the "wrong" augs. So what do you folks think? I'm of the opinion that augments should be limited to the 8 pieces of armor you wear plus main and off hand for a total of 10. Having them on ears, implant and relics is overkill. Needing only 10 augments would still give you an extra touch of customization without completely blowing away anyone who only has a few and working on more.
  6. ok my biggest pet peeve, sorry if its been said, didn't go through all 10 pages. When you close your bank it also closes your main inventory. So i take a piece of gear out of the bank put it in my inventory, close the bank have to reopen my inventory to then equip said item. My main inventory should only close when i tell it to. I think there are other times it closes when i don't want it too, like when closing a vendor screen, but I'm at work and cant remember specifically off the top of my head. And while I'm at it, Powertech Combat Tech WH Chest has what looks like cloth around the wearers neck, and at least with the large body type the chin of my Helm, (in this case crafted WH Jugg Helm) goes under and blends into said fabric and looks kinda stupid.
  7. I'll live with the CC, what is bugging the heck out of me is the slows and roots. Every class seems to have some form of slow that is pretty brainless to apply so just about every fight has everyone running around like snails vs turtles.

  9. in customer service its the little things that add up to the overall perception. Not getting something as simple as this right makes you begin to think of all of the other small things that bug you and results in the series of rage posts now dominating this forum. I have seen server shutdown messages in the past, so this was obviously an oversight that should be addressed.
  10. well they did say it would "hopefully" solve issues, when i say that it means if this doesn't work I'm gonna have to call someone at home, and they will not be pleased to be hearing from me.

  13. I wont say its rocket science, but i do have over 30 binds so its not straight face roll either. A lot of it is also positioning and awareness that any class can use to their advantage and is a real gap between the goods and the bads. Agree
  14. The reason a PT/Vanguard is desirable to a team is the burst, take that away, and you are left with nothing. When under coordinated focus fire we drop like a fly, and don't have oh sh** abilities like the marauder. Was to the point in one rated voidstar last night i was terrified to leave the pillar, every time I did even with my pro heals I was toast (won the game but the other team defiantly took me out of the equation for the most part). Moral of the story, powertechs are fine. if you get insta jibbed by one, get better gear and/or use your cool downs.
  15. Good topic, there seem to be a great many opinions on the "correct" mods and gear, but in the end it seems that most anything works to a point. It seems to come down to how it "feels"and fits your playstyle. In a way i wish things were a bit more cut and dry as I've spend countless credits swapping mods and have yet to find anything I'm completely satisfied with. I tend to stack main stat (the +64 aim mods, +12 augments, stim). It just always "feels" better for whatever reason when i have 1750ish aim, but if someone has the reasoning and perhaps some math I would love to hear it. I see the argument who cares what your base damage is if everything crits, but imho you then put your hands even more with the RNG gods than it already is with PPA. And I also still have the accuracy question, 95% or more? I will say anything under 95 seem to follow the classic MMO rule that if you are shy of the magic number even by .2% you will miss all the freaking time. Bit again the "feel" of anything over 95 doesn't seem to be much better than 95 itself unless you are in a wz vs 6 tankassins (which happens lol).

    I unbound "s" for a few days, but then put it back because there are so many knock-backs, pulls, and pillars, there are plenty of times you just need a quick touch of the s key to get where you need to be. You should almost never straight up backpedal in response to any attack, but having it here and there to give a quick tweak to your position is fine.
  18. my favorite, a sage on my server that uses sprint then mashes the s key to move all of 5 meters backwards.
  19. The fundamental problem, as with a couple other classes, is having to depend on procs. How can you balance any class that may or may not have the ability to do something after a series of used abilities. I'll take the tankssasins lacerate as an example, how can you balance it when you never know if it is going to proc the cooldown on shock? Same goes for the low cost maul, you never know when its going to pop up, it could be once in a blue moon or once every hit, the same goes for the powertech and railshot. There are times the procs all work with you, heat isn't a problem, life is good. There are times nothing procs, you find yourself overheated and other than interrupting caps useless.
  20. Powertechs are fine, while we are capable of impressive burst damage we also become useless if heat is not managed properly. The kicker is there is nothing you can do about it sometimes, even timing every rocket punch cooldown perfectly exactly 6 seconds after a rail shot does not guarantee it will ever proc ppa. If any adjustments to the burst are made (and as the ops says the tears are starting to flow) it needs to come with heat management that is not based on chance.
  21. Ive seen it happen in voidstar and reported the player i suspected doing it, haven/t seen him/her online since so maybe it worked. Though with only 20 people queing at any one time, I hated to do it lol.

    Finally unsubbing

    I love the game, but if i can't get a couple of hours of pvp in after work there is no point. I've removed my payment info, but i'm paid through August. About the only way I can think to show my dissatisfaction since they reupped my 3 months two days before being awarded "free" month.
  23. I've taken to tweeting and posting here to say simply, merge the servers. The more its said the more they will have to notice. I'm on Sword of Ajunta Pall, and have watched the server die in the last 3-4 weeks with this week being right at the point of unplayable. The pop has never been huge but the ques used to hit all day and night, now it can be hours. There is currently one lowbie civil war and one 50 civil war running on the entire server, and that is it. Swallow your pride Bioware, merge the damn servers.
  24. I will agree with with the OP, only had 3 BM set pieces at patch time (with badges for the final two post patch) so I had no issues putting the right ones back in the right places. It should not be assumed everyone has nothing better to do than troll the forums every day. I can see what they are trying to do, make PVE mods and gear undesirable for PVP, but there were about a million ways to go about doing it far better than they did. You should buy your shell and mods separately with the various comms, that way you are not pigeonholed into getting gear with mods you don't want, then more gear you only want a part of. How hard is that?
  25. AP was ok when i first entered Wzs at 50 with no gear and all I wanted to do was hit the hydros and run like hell every time someone looked at me funny. I knew killing something was pretty low on the list of possibilities so I just went into annoy mode, running around interrupting, preventing caps, and whatnot. With a proper team I could see an AP BH could be an asset, but still probably not over a Pyro. Once I got some gear and went Pyro its amazing how much more damage I did and have not gone back. The (slightly) increased mobility and utility of AP does not in any way equal the damage output of Pyro.
