The difference is everyone in the original FFXIV beta said the game was crap unlike now with A Realm Reborn where everyone says the game is great. Eh sorry but Rift no longer has a customer services number they got rid of it because they are going free to play. Also Rifts free to play model suxs its fully pay to win. They sell high end pve and pvp gear in the cash shop so have fun getting pwned by other players who have spend hundreds of $$ in the cash shop. Also Trion are rip off artists. They got everyone last year to pay for 1 year subs when they knew they were going free to play and they kept telling everyone they wouldn't ever go free to play. As a long time Rift player I am disgusted with what they have done and I will never play Rift or another Trion game. The one year sub they scam from me is the last money they will ever see from me.

Yes they are and that's the point. I can buy crystals with lvl 50 stats on them from the cash shop with 41exp and use them at any lvl and have an advantage over other people in pvp. As for the ship parts pay to win isn't only pvp. I can buy the very best ship parts in the game and I have more of a chance at successfully completing the missions then people who didn't buy the ship parts. Sure other people can get the same ship parts I have in game but that takes time so people who just buy the parts with real money pay to win as it lets them bypass content and get to the very end.
