  1. This has been bugging me for at least several months now. It's so frustrating to find a cool outfit for your companion, only to see them dressed in something completely different (and unsuitable for the situation) in the next cutscene.
  2. Thank you for the update, just want to say I'm happy to hear you guys will be bringing more of our old companions back! Can't wait to eventually have a reunion with Nadia, Kira, Mako and Risha.
  3. How on earth is this still not fixed 2 years later? This can't possibly be intentional - Republic side still has the quest givers, but the Empire does not.
  4. Sounds like you're missing a step - after getting the first buff from the cybernetic skull, you need to do 2 more things in 2 different locations before heading for the datacrons. Read the Dulfy guide carefully for more details.
  5. Kalyio is a romanceable companion, so I rate the chances of this happening forcefully without leaving the player any chance to get her back as non-existant (at least for agents). Also, LOL at the hilarious Kaliyo hate in this thread.
  6. Probably because it has a decent amount of dialogue compared to other flashpoints, and is an interesting side story of its own. It's not tied to mainline/class stories in any way.
  7. So this is what's been wiping my group in Korriban FP today... I must say, 2 min 20 sec seems a bit too strict a timer for a soft enrage in a fight where you have to spend so much time kiting various circles instead of dpsing the boss. If he's not killed before that mark, the droid starts doing missile salvo causing unavoidable damage to everyone, and the adds keep coming. I was the healer, and keeping everyone up through all that just didn't seem possible.
  8. I'm guessing this is about Ironfist's headshot? It just needs to be interrupted, and you'll avoid ALL of that damage. Then the only notable thing about the boss fight is some area missile damage which healer should have no problem healing through.
  9. 1) Hard modes are restricted to lvl 50+, and if you're below 65 the truth is you're most likely being carried by others in your group. 2) Yes, tacticals are designed to be role-neutral (they aren't really at the moment, but that's not the point). But what about people who WANT to practice playing their role properly (they didn't pick healer or tank spec for no reason, after all) and aren't ready for hard modes yet? I think the OP's complaints are valid, and shouldn't be dismissed so easily. I suggested a solution several times: bring the trinity flashpoints back AS AN OPTION, without removing the tacticals. Those who like trinity can queue for old-fashioned FP and wait out long queues, those who like tacticals can queue for them and get their quick pops, those who don't care can queue for both. Everybody wins, I think. Until that happens, though, the only solution I see is to pug for tacticals in the fleet chat, the old-fashioned way, and then queue for the FP when the group is already formed. I've occasionally seen people doing just that on the Shadowlands, no idea how successful they were in getting a group together.
  10. I've seen this complaint before and have to ask - does Sparky really have that generous enrage timer compared to other bosses or something? Reason I ask is I've also had my first Ravagers run recently when I healed a raid that enraged on Sparky twice (3 times if you can count that time when one DPS was squashed by the door and had to sit out the fight ). However, we managed to beat all other bosses without enrage and only one wipe on Master&Blaster (people overlapped their circles too much, went fine 2nd attempt). One healer and DPS left right after those fails at Sparky and were replaced, but otherwise the group stayed the same.
  11. Not that much different really. The UI is a different for ops groups which may take some getting used to (my advice is to take a minute to fiddle with UI editor and set it up to your convenience once in an ops group). Usually ops leader will rearrange the frames in such a way that in each column of 4 players tanks are on top and healers at the bottom, with the 2 dps in the middle. Each healer is then "responsible" for his group of 4 people, just like in flashpoints. Of course feel free to help out if everyone's healthy in your group and the other is taking damage. Also take note of who the other healer is and if it's a different class than you, then it's helpful to add your own useful buffs on the other group (e.g. bubble both tanks if you're sage/sorcerer and the other healer isn't).
  12. Start with Eternity Vault and Karagga's Palace, they're the chronologically first story-wise and also the easiest. You may get away without reading any guides prior for those two, but for doing any others I highly recommend first learning what you're getting into. Some ops (Explosive Conflict for example) have numerous mechanics which can lead to a group wipe if not followed. Beyond that, know the basics - don't stand in suspicious circles or what-have-you on the ground, don't pull ahead of the tank, don't stand in front of the bosses unless you're a tank, know your role in the group. Check out class subforum here for some helpful advice on playing specific roles and classes. Be prepared to follow common tactical tricks, like stacking up in one place for heals, or line-of-sighting difficults pulls to make them come to the group in a neatly bunched pack. One more tip - it's common practice in endgame ops and flashpoints to use shortcuts and such to avoid skippable pulls, if that happens just try to keep up and follow the motions of someone who knows what they're doing. Some links to sites with ops guides (may be outdated in a few points, some sm ops have been nerfed since then): http://darkbrethren.enjin.com/guides/m/11807117/viewforum/2290082 (I like this site better than Dulfy, more detailed) http://dulfy.net/category/swtor/operations/
  13. I don't think releasing one story-focused expansion and oversimplifying levelling content quite qualifies as "taking that all back". There's still plenty of raids and group content in the game and - unlike previously - they're all relevant and interesting at max level, especially for those who are new to the game or even just haven't played it non-stop for years, like me. Bioware did not cut raids from the game, nor did they say there wouldn't be new raid / group content in the future after KotFE is finished, in fact they said the opposite. Should they have included at least one new raid with the expansion? Probably. They also probably should have fixed all the bugs, playtested the horrible balancing issues before going live, and made sure romances are recognized properly, and ... But then the expansion would take another year to release, and they would miss the SW popularity spike inspired by the new movie. With all due respect, I think all this talk about "switching the gears" and "betrayal" etc is overblown by people who lack patience.
  14. Interesting, I was under impression attacking the reactive shield droid will kill you pretty quickily, healing or not. I've never had that situation happen myself, so I'll take your word for it.
  15. I don't think there's any way to screw up mechanics on that fight so as to leave a shielded droid, without it being bugged. There are 2 kinds of shields on droids in that fight in HM, and either shield will prevent the droid using it from taking any significant damage. So the only way to kill first two droids for them would be to follow the mechanics and attack the unshielded one. I've read stories in this very thread where it didn't work in the same way - the final droid somehow ended up in a shielded state, which should never happen. So yes, you were the weird one and the others were right, it was a bug.
  16. I thought it would be nice to have a counterpart of the (rather long and entertaining) The weird people you meet in GF thread, where we can talk about cases of people who impressed you in some spectacular way, for example by saving the group in a situation that was looking hopeless. While reading about bad/weird experiences can be funny and educational (personally I picked up a lot of things one should or shouldn't do from that thread), it can also dissuade new players from entering group content entirely. Let's convince them not every GF group is like that! Some ground rules: any group content applicable (non GF is fine as well), no bragging (make sure your stories aren't just about you ), no names (advertising specific players is not the point of this thread and it can cause them to be friendlist spammed). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I guess I'll start with one of my more recent HM FP runs. HM False Emperor, me on my Sage Healer with Guardian tank, Gunslinger dps and (I think) Guardian dps, all lvl 65. Starting trash goes easy, skipping to the first boss on the bridge (Tregg the Destroyer). Others know to stay out of the spin attack the first time it comes up, so I'm mostly just keeping people bubbled and putting hots on them and dots on the boss, occasionally dropping an aoe heal. However, soon the melee dps takes too long to move out of the red circle, and dies almost instantly (I felt bad, but don't think I could save him even if I was channeling heal at him at the time). I switch to reviving him, and the moment he's up the boss suddenly dies. I'm a bit surprised since the fight seemed shorter than I'm used to (I forgot to put the boss in my focus target, so mostly didn't keep track of the health bar). Running ahead of myself, while there were more deaths further on, I think this death was the only one in the whole run which might count for player error. Next boss, Jindo Krey, the mandalorian one with the gunship. Start of the fight, I force speed to the console to shoo the gunship away, one of the dps follows and successfully uses it after Jindo grapples me back to him. I go into heal mode, but soon notice there are no missile target markers on the ground from the gunship attacks. And everyone is gaining stacks of the missile damage debuff, making it harder and harder to heal through the damage from the gunship. I'm struggling to keep the tank alive, the dps somehow manage stay alive with my occasional off-heal and not standing in one place. At this point I can't possibly stop healing to use the console without losing the tank, so the dps should be taking care of that. They do or try to, but the stacking damage bonus doesn't reset and soon I fail the continuous burst heal test. Tank dies, we eventually wipe. I'm puzzled because I can't figure out what the heck we did wrong, so I stay silent running back, as do all others. Bubble everyone, tank pulls. I decide to stand closer to the console this time, to keep track and make sure we don't miss using it when it's time to reset the gunship damage bonus. The gunslinger seemed to have the same idea, and we make sure to use the console regularily during the fight. It doesn't work, the damage stacks keep piling up. At this point I can't see the gunship at all, like it's invisible. Skip forward past some of mine frantic healing, the tank dies again, followed by one of the dps. The dps pipes up with "it's bugged" and the tank replies "yeah". They were right, as the gunship soon materializes right on top of the middle console, covering part of the room. The other dps somehow manages to stay alive for a bit with my help, but soon heroically perishes with me shortly following. At that point, the boss was at ~10% and I noticed with surprise the fight goes on. Turns out the tank and the other dps ressed at checkpoint and ran back in time to continue the fight! Jindo went down in seconds, and someone joked that we managed beat the bug boss. I get a res, we loot, and move on. We one-shot every boss after that, including the bonus boss. Not a single death, in fact I barely had anything serious to heal, so they had to be interrupting all the interruptible stuff. Probably the most heal intensive fight was the difficult trash pull after the HK boss at the anemid engineer (we beat it without bothering to use cc). The two prototype droids boss fight went down faster than I've ever seen before, I think the first unshielded one died before they even had the chance to switch the shield once. Those guys were really good.
  17. Perhaps I'm just lucky, but I haven't had too much trouble on my server since I started running hard-modes. Every once in a while someone in the original group is low lvl, and/or underperforming. If that causes a wipe or two, usually they just leave, and we requeue to get a better replacement. Worst cases are when the tank is the one who leaves, which could disband the group (or a healer I guess, but since I'm usually playng a healer I haven't run into those ). But so far, always managed to finish FP in the end, although in some cases (Lost Island comes to mind) it takes some wipes and skill/patience from everyone. Overall, I'm seeing more good (sometimes, great) players in HMs than clueless people, so I'm kind of shaking my head at the weird people in GF thread in this forum (where do you find these guys, folks? ).
  18. What server are you on? I have been getting relatively quick HM FP pops (usually within 10-20 mins in daytime, longest recently was ~1,5 hours but that was early morning) on The Shadowlands, although playing as a healer probably helps somewhat. Personally, I'm not really doing them for loot though, just for fun.
  19. The only non-tactical non hard-mode flashpoints at the moment are Colicoid War Game (Lv 41), Kaon Under Siege (Lv 50) and Lost Island (Lv 50).
  20. Want a challenge? Try doing operations or hard-mode FPs (Manaan or Lost Island should be good) with mechanic-clueless players. You won't be bored, I promise. Game actually used to be significantly easier a little while ago - sounds like you missed the really funny period after 4.0 came out when the companions were so powerful that you could solo a heroic by letting them mow down stuff for you.
  21. Yes, if you consider that being unable to romance a companion in fact prevents people from playing the whole expansion. Reason? Once you realize you got the romance bug, it's already too late. Your story is screwed, because the companion story has already progressed past the point where any future fix would let you continue as normal. As far as I know, Bioware fixing similar problem in SoR in the past did not retroactively fix broken romances, as you're already at a chronologically later point in companion story and can't access the earlier bits. If you wanted to experience them you had TO LEVEL A NEW CHARACTER FROM LEVEL 1. Customer support is useless and is taking any opportunity to close submitted tickets with a copy-paste response "it's not a class mission, sorry, next pls". So yeah, this bug is serious, as it's blocking people from playing a big chunk of the game.
  22. If you bought it from Origin, then It's not a recurring subscription. So it'll end when your 60 days run out. If it was recurring, you could cancel the next payment by removing the chosen payment method in your account subscription page.
  23. But then it's EA, not BW. EA as publisher is responsible for the size and funding of the dev team allocated for the project.
  24. I don't think they're incompetent, I think they're severely understuffed. It seems like they can't afford the team size required to maintain / bugfix the game of this size properly while also developing new content.
  25. I'm waiting on this to be fixed to start playing KotFE. Bioware, please don't sit on this for a year like you did when SAME PROBLEM happened in SoR. Please have some respect if not for us, your players, then for your own poor writers who wrote these romances for your game and now have to watch their work being useless.
