  1. I'll jump onboard, although my current outfit has already appeared in this thread Master Niara Starjumper portrait shot Niara in action on Balmorra Currently level 38 and wanting to use the Traditional Nylite Vestments with the Muse Leggings I have on but can't deal with the huge amount of clipping between them in the bum area... Urgh, really puts me off. EDIT: I should note I do have headgear and it's a moddable band, but I still turn it off because I got sick of seeing it in the cinematics when my characters face moved around but it stayed in place...
  2. Two reasons already stated in the thread: 1 - Lack of time/development resources to do three different animations. Take Double Strike. You'd need two more animations for that based on whether you were using a single saber or dual-wielding. Now do that for every Shadow skill that uses the saber. Now do it for EVERY Knight/Consular skill that uses the saber... 2 - PvP argument. I hate this. Why should my options for customisation, like I was freely able to do in KotOR, be restricted by the minority who do PvP? You might be a vocal bunch on the forum, but in every single MMO except open-PvP ones the numbers repeatedly show that those who participate in PvP on a regular basis are in a decided minority. There are other ways to add visual identifiers, a set colour glow around characters for example. I don't want my skills and other stuff being nerfed and messed around with because you lot come and whine on the forum that so-and-so handed you your butt, and the current FOTM spec is a n00bcannon etc. Hopefully at some point they'll have the time to do the extra animations, although to be honest I'd rather they do some extra animations for the current classes as they are. Double Strike is used way too often to have that single boring animation, I'm sick of seeing it already.
  3. It used to be till they changed it to only take effect when using Force Technique instaed of Combat. Now I'm planning to respec. I was playing in a similar style to you, and I'm certain Force Strike and Force Suppression just became useless unless you're fighting an elite in Force Technique.
  4. Gotta admit to being a bit miffed at this change. I started playing my 35 shadow again after a couple of weeks levelling alts, only to find I wasn't getting the Force Strike proc I used to. I thought I'd forgotten how to play. Instead, I find it's been changed as stated in this thread... Now I have no idea about PvP, but it hit my currently-pure Balance playstyle hard. My normal combat rotation went something like this, using Combat Technique: - Force in Balance - Force Breach - Project to get the 10% melee buff and hopefully trigger Force Syngery if it wasn't already triggered. - Dual Strike - Mind Crush when Force Strike proc'd - Repeat last two steps, throwing in Saber Strike when out of Force and the occasional Project when buffs run out. Considering how fast trash mobs die when levelling, this change seems to me to have made my previous playstyle null by trying to force me to switch to Force Technique which only seems viable against Elites and Bosses. Combat Technique suited me fine as I was trying to play a Tank/DPS character that didn't need to use stealth, and the healing is very useful. After having a bit of a play around, I figure Mind Crush just became totally pointless to me except in rare circumstances, like Force Slow, Mind Maze, etc. It's just too situational now. It also seems to have made Force Suppression pointless because so far the only DoT I've found that proc's it is Mind Crush, which now has a crappy two second activation time unless I'm using a technique I don't want to use... Urgh, I hate adjusting. I bet this is all you PvP'ers fault...
  5. ALSO! Although the original suggestion was SWTOR-related, once Bioware had the facilities to do this up and running they could expand. Statues of your customised Shepard from Mass Effect anyone, along with your favourite companions in whatever poses you choose? Fancy a Hawke from Dragon Age 2 or your own character from Dragon Age Origins? Do it! Do it naow!
  6. I did link them in the OP My point though was that why leave it up to some 3rd party company when Bioware, with EA behind them, ought to be able to set this up themselves?
  7. Oh god, the dancing half-naked Bounty Hunter! I literally have tears in my eyes from laughing at that bit!
  8. So, as we all know, at the beginning of a Smugglers story his/her starship gets stolen by a very naughty man. You then chase said naughty man across Ord Mantell and to Coruscant. I've so far levelled a Consular to 35, which many people say is one of the worst story-wise, and quite enjoyed it. I've also got a Knight through the Prologue. However, while I've been enjoying my Smuggler a fair bit, especially some of the cocky dialogue options, I just finished the Prologue and I have a, well, complaint. As soon as my starship got nicked I knew that no matter how many DS points I would end up getting, the man who stole it was going to die. I chased his butt till I finally caught up with him trying to fob off a fake ruby on a bunch of Imperial scumbags. There's a few nice lines of dialogue and then he... runs off? I didn't even get the option to shoot him in the back when there's clearly no threat being made to me by the Imperials at that moment, and he's not exactly running fast or trying to dodge! No matter, I haven't found my ship yet but now I have the mission to go to the hangar where he plans to meet his contact, who has never been mentioned throughout the entire length of the Prologue so far. So I get to the hangar and find said contact, who I don't know from Adam and have not heard anything about before. A fight ensues. I beat him down, and he... gives me my starship. No sign of the evil little so-and-so who stole it originally! Now I know that there's more story involving him as I've been through the opening section of Chapter 1, but couldn't Bioware have found a different antagonist for that bit? I feel like I was led up the garden path, because everything up to that point promised a great confrontation with the evil scumbag where I would be able to satisfyingly end his life and reclaim my ship at the same time. Instead I get a no-more-difficult-than-other-elite-fights battle with some nobody that just appears for that section. I must admit I felt deeply let down at that point. Maybe I misunderstood or had too-high expectations, but it made me feel so bitter I'm not sure I want to bother playing that character for a while. With the Consular, after leaving Tython you spent the entirety of Coruscant basically setting yourself up for what was coming in the rest of Chapter 1. With the Smuggler, you spent the entire Prologue chasing after your starship and the man who stole it only to have a completely new mission dropped on you when you do get the ship back that was only marginally hinted at with one or two minor dialogue lines while doing the quests. I don't know if there's really a point to this thread other than to say... could have been better.
  9. Oh good, it's not just me then! It seems with the advent of 3D printing, this would be a great money-maker even if you do have to hire a few figurine-painting experts to touch up each finished product. I'd probably start with a poster myself and save up for the actual figures as treats, although whether my self-restraint would last if they actually offered the service is definitely in doubt.
  10. Hey Bioware, implement this and watch the cash roll in! Character Figurines Buy yourself a 3D printer, add whatever you need to into the game itself to allow you to export character model data easily, and start selling 3D-printed models of a players character ala FigurePrints. Obviously you'd need to make the system flexible so people can set the pose their character is using and make sure you print them with your "advertising mode" hi-res textures I'd buy four! Character Posters Why buy a SWTOR poster when you could buy one that features your character? Put a bunch of art presets together for backgrounds, add the ability to put in a players character and a few other bits like their class ship and companions, and let people put their favourite SWTOR characters on their wall! I'd buy four of those too! Despite the semi-joking tone of this post, and the no-doubt horrific negotiations you'd have to make with LucasArts, I think it would be great if you added this sort of thing at some point because it would almost literally be a license to print money. How many people, assuming they have enough disposable income, wouldn't buy at least one of these for their favourite character? I never considered it for the brief time I played WoW because despite really liking the idea, I never was that fond of the characters. My SWTOR characters are a completely different story though!
  11. Dear lord, such an obvious idea and yet it never occurred to me! Why throw away half the stuff you're going to vendor when you could mail it to newbies just by sitting in one of the starting areas and noting down a few names. They may not even realise who it comes from if you write a well-written note to go with it, thinking it's another mission update thing from an NPC! I am so doing this next time I log in.
  12. Actually, the first buff you get (dependant on class) is a percentage buff, so it stays relevant the entirety of your play career and is just as useful cast on a Level 50 as it is on a Level 1, regardless of your personal level. I always click on random people I'm passing by while out questing and give them my class buff if they don't have it. it lasts an hour and it's useful, why wouldn't you? Following people around and spamming pointless stuff like heals in social areas could be considered harassment, which is against the TOS, so be careful!
  13. Keep at it, you'll get there one day definitely. Your work is already more impressive than many I've seen, and better than some work I see published in actual books etc. I don't think I'd ever be able to learn to do it unfortunately. The only two creative bones I have in my body already resonate on a music and creative writing vibe, I don't have any more. Plus I've never been any good at art, which is an eternal pain because I'd love to be able to draw my characters!
  14. It's people like you who totally ruin my life by reminding me how much it sucks not being able to draw like that! I'm very impressed, in case that wasn't obvious!
  15. Your wish has been granted! http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Films Well ok, only one of them... It's a lot easier for them to get a ME film done since they created the IP themselves than it would be to go through all the legal wrangling with LucasArts, but never say never.
  16. I like the way you plan yours out too, I never thought of doing something in that fashion, although I suppose it prevents you from using the Legacy name as a surname? After another thread I posted on starting class ages in the Story section of the forum, I went and planned out the family tree a bit further back... Specifically, to the great-infinte-grandparents of my current characters that were living in the time of Revan/KOTOR 1&2. I didn't branch out with multiple children etc, although I may do in the future. If you're interested in just how many greats: Teran being the name of my current characters paternal grandfather. Why? Seemed like a good waste of time when I did it! I may even get round to naming all those great-whatever-grandparents at some point!
  17. I'm curious as to what people think the starting ages of characters are, based on their class and some of their lines in the beginning parts of the game. I've been trying to work it out purely for my own purposes, as with the Legacy system I thought I'd take it a bit further and trace my characters back to Malak/Revan times (BTC 303) but am having difficulty figuring out just when my characters were born. Here are some of my thoughts: Jedi Knight/Consular Relatively easy. Both characters are at the final stages of their training, and going on their relatively-youthful appearance it is reasonable to assume they are somewhere between the 20-25 range. Obi-Wan Kenobi was 25 when he was Knighted, but in the current time the Jedi are trying to replace numbers lost during the war so it's a safe bet they were Knighting people a little quicker than before, so anywhere in that range seems ok. Trooper Slightly trickier here. The character starts out at the rank of Sergeant, which implies at least some experience before the games story takes place. With little film-based evidence to go on (apart from the KOTOR games I am unfamiliar with the Expanded Universe stuff) I only have character looks to go on. In real life Sergeant is a somewhat-senior rank in the British Army but is a less-senior rank in the US Army. Given that George Lucas is American I'm more inclined to go with a younger age than you typically find in the British Army, so around the 22-26 range seems feasible enough. Smuggler I find this the most difficult one of the lot. While the appearance of the character is in line with the others, generally speaking owning a starship and the repeated remarks the refer to other characters young age leads me to feel this character would be slightly older in starting age than the others. While it would be possible for someone in the 20-25 range to refer to someone in the 16-19 range as "kid", it's pretty rare. Personally I feel an age of between 28-32 is more likely in this scenario. I can't go into the Imperial side of things as I haven't played any of those characters, but I'd be very interested to hear other peoples thoughts on the issue. And yes, I'm probably over-thinking it, but I get creative when I'm bored
  18. To be fair, when I created that tree every character except Niara (who is my main) was Level 1 My only real concern with the Legacy system, apart from it severely limiting people who don't want to play characters who are related, is how the tree can be anything other than horizontal... It's almost impossible to figure out the passage of time in the game, so deciding whether a new character is a child of one of your old ones is tricky. Anyway, my current plans for the tree will see a few more faces appear as Daevian and Miara certainly, and possibly Riara, will end up dating/married at some point. As I haven't played through the class quests for those far enough to know what companions you end up being able to romance and I don't want to ruin the surprise, I can't say who to just yet. That's another point, if your Human character marries an alien, how can you have a future character that's a child of the inter-species couple? Do bloodlines breed true in the SWTOR universe, so no half-Human half-Twilek children for example? Argh, this raises too many questions that will probably never have answers, in-game anyway!
  19. Planning ahead No names for the people who aren't characters yet but I'll probably write up brief backgrounds at some point. http://aylan.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/swtor/sjlegacy.jpg Full size image can be found here. It's funny, when I first discovered you could only have one last name across all your characters, I was a little miffed. Then it made me think along lines I normally don't, about having characters that are siblings, cousins, and so forth.
  20. I put up a quick webpage showing the differences between in-game no AA, in-game High AA, and forced AA through the CCC. http://aylan.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/swtor/swtoraa.html Unfortunately, the only way I can get this game to run without juddering while running or constantly flickering black is to set everything to application-controlled and turn AA off. God, it looks horrible... but at least I can play. Before the patch I had in-game AA set to off, forced AA to 8x in CCC, and everything was gravy
