  1. Yeah, it really would bring the world more alive! I just wonder, how much would it require to implement something like it to this game.. Now that different sources say swtor is starting to make money for Bioware/EA, the game could hopefully get more resourcs put into it. And at least the new Ziost planet seems very nice indeed, gameplay- and storywise. You never know what they can do
  2. So as the title suggest, my question is related to phasing. As I am currently aware, there's no phasing system in place in swtor. The only time I've seen something like phasing, it was the time when you took control of one of the hooks in Makeb. So, has anyone noticed phasing in swtor while questing? For those who don't know it, it means that when you do things(quests) in the world, they can change the area completely. As in, you go in and fight some bad people in a camp. After that, the camp is yours, and it fills with friendly npcs. And that's only one scenario. This system is widely used in WoW, and to great effect. I have no clue what that kind of system requires from the engine or servers, but it did come into wow in 2008, with it's second expansion, so at least Blizzard found a way to improve their hardware/software to support it. For me, a phasing system in a story driven game like swtor would be phenomenal. Just to see the things you've done to come alive. It just diminishes the loreside of things when you are ordered to kill bunch of people (as a sith), or clear a camp, and then you do it but nothing changes. Now that I think about it, we do have the instances in swtor, where many of the story quests take place, but there are still many places where phasing would really make the difference, and add another layer of depth into the quests. Does someone else think phasing, or a system like it, would be a cool addition to the game, or are the resources best used elsewhere?
  3. So it seems I was happy too early. I logged in today, and noticed that yesterdays smoothness was gone. Although the fps was manageable, there seemed to be like nanosecond freezes now and then.. can't describe it any better. I looked up resource management, and noticed that one out of four of m processor cores was doing more work than the rest. Processor usage is at 50% usually, but still one core does more work than the rest. How's that possible? And why this didn't happen yesterday, but today. I didn't change anything... I got couple of pictures so you can see what I mean; http://i.imgur.com/WGgAUzF.png http://i.imgur.com/zhQ4hnz.png http://i.imgur.com/jekeycz.jpg <--- This I took from my keyboard, and that's how it usually shows the cores. The first is always closer to max than the others. Is there anything I can do about this?
  4. Evening. It seems Owen's information helped me ! I downloaded and istalled directX from the link, and did the profile to CCC as instructed in the other thread. I tweaked it some because the settings in the thread were meant for a high-end computer.(lowered AA and kept shadows off) Now I seem to have 5-10 more fps than I used, and fleet is a much better place now. I played for couple of hours and fps was about 30 or more. For warzones 4v4 worked well, haven't tested 8v8. Also no problem with fp's. I also thought up one reason why the game is heavier for me than it probably should be; I've got a 24" benq with 1920x1080 resolution, so it may be a bit tough for my 4800 series gfx. But alas, things are better now, and I may try to tweak them a little bit more. Lets hope things stay better...
  5. Thanks for the info Malastare. That's really sad if the CPU is as bad as you're saying.. but I've thought about the idea that the game can't properly use all 4 cores, because they aren't at 100% capacity while I play, even at fleet. I remember toying with nameplates when the game was new, and if I remember correctly it had no effect. But I will try again. Is there any other way other than clocking the CPU to make it more effective? Anything I can do in BIOS perhaps? Thanks in advance.
  6. 1.That's the problem; there's almost no difference in fps when I go from low to high. I am keeping blur and shadows already off and those should be the major draws for GPU.. 2. Been thinking this aswell, but the thing is that the CPU us black edition, meaning it's already clocked to some degree, above the average clocks. So should be enough on that part. First I just want to know if there's some setting that I can change for the fps to get better. If the hardware is the problem, then I deal with that and wait for a possibility to buy a new computer. Just can't understand why my specs can't deal with the game when many say it should.
  7. I got a 100/5 broadband connection, so latency is not the issue.
  8. So, as the title says, I got a problem with my fps. Specs are as follows; AMD Phenom II X4 940 BE 3.04Ghz, 8G DDR2 ram, ATI Radeon HD 4890 1G OC, Win 7 64 home premium(?). As you can see, the computer is old. Still, everywhere I've read it says that a quadcore processor at/over 3Ghz should have no problems playing this game. Also, benchmarking tests show that ati 5770 should be capable of keeping fps over 30 with high graphics and some AA. and 4890 is somewhat better than 5770. As it stands, my fps is fine when outdoors and alone. Questing and leveling is fairly good. But, when I go to the fleet or play warzones, it drops to 15-20. In fact, when in combat fps is always under 30.. charging with marauder isn't smooth, it glitches annoyingly. Lowering graph settings has NO increase in fps, and this bugs me the most. Shouldn't my specs at least be able to put 60fps with very low graphs, when various sites state that high graphs are possible with the hardware. I've tried swtor unleashed to no use, my aero disables when I go play the game, and I've tried every setting option available... Any ideas why the game doesn't run smooth when it should, or is the hardware just too old? Thanks in advance.
  9. For me: Get disconnected from a wz from which I would've got over 100 commendations and about 3k-4k valor. Happened 2 mins before the ending of Huttball. Got back to game instantly, but there's no going back to wz's in swtor after disconnect )))))) Yours? P.S. So that this post wouldn't get locked, some feedback. Bioware, it would be really nice, if you could make it so that you return back to the wz, if you get disconnected because of the server. Some kind of "mercy timer", so that it wouldn't annoy as much.
  10. Send the kit to another class, and buy the item you want for that class. If you spend it to buy an item, you better spend it on the right class. This was said in the mail which gave you the kit. Nice that you read it.
  11. ^ I thought he was talking about how planets are instanced.
  12. Wrong. Not every zone is instanced. On my server, only Korriban had several instances, and it was due to the amount of players. Planets after Korriban were NOT instanced. If you happen to play on a high population server, then it's a different matter alltogether.
  13. After using WoW's LFG tool for over 2 years, I haven't encountered a player who afked the whole instance... I also didn't see people ninja that much, you maybe saw one once in 3 months. And I used LFG tool quite enthusiasticly. It's sad really when someone tries to make up reasons to hate such an obvious improvement to the game. Who likes yelling for hm group for hours?
  14. So the amount of time spent on making the patch is irrelevant? BW does a huge patch in 2 months; Blizzard does in 6 months. I think it tells something about the pace that the BW team is working on. Oh what would happen if it took 6 months for BW to make a patch for swtor... The amount of grief...
  15. And Darkchaos, you can go on and live with your life, and possibly play WoW/Rift/EVE. If you don't care about Swtor, or don't wanna play it, then leave. It's just really rude to go around the forums and bark how bad swtor is. Over and over again.
  16. And quess what? It took almost a half a year to get it to live. Opposed to Swtor's 2 months. Just think about it for couple of minutes before posting absurd things here. And another thing, we had to play ICC for ONE YEAR before cataclysm came in. Nice.
  17. Although everybody got affected by the cataclysm changes, they were still part of the expansion. A lot of time was spent on changing the landscape and quest all the way to level 60, which negated the possibility to do other, big, things.
  18. 1. Compare swtor to wow 2. Compare wz to bg 3. Compare ops to 2 years old raid 4. ???? 5. Profit If you so loved wow, go back there. I doubt there are many players who like spending weeks to get past one boss. Maybe couple of thousands, but not more. And I'm pretty sure sometime, Bioware will release a more harder version of ops to those who just like to die and learn.
  19. It's funny how you except the devs to fetch the moon for you. This is an MMO, and MMO's have certain principles. If they go too far from those, then the people who LOVE and LIKE MMO concept run away. If you don't like running dungeons/flashpoints, doing raids/operations, or wz/bg, then perhaps swtor/wow (ANY MMO) is not meant for you. Really.
  20. That post was one of the most frightening ones I've EVER seen. The amount of whiteness in the letters almost blinded me... Sick.
  21. If you compare full centurion to full champ, the expertise difference is not that big, maybe 2-3%. That doesn't make you lose. It's better to get more vent badges, so you get that full cent as fast as possible. And sometimes, you get that champ to upgrade some pieces. And when you reach valor 60, you've got plenty of battlemaster bags to open, which grant you nice amounts of champion badges. What more can you ask??
  22. Of course I am going to continue subscribing, there's no other MMO at the moment that _interests_ me. As simple as that.
  23. The problem here is that points are capped at 10k. If you have say, 3k LS points and 7k DS points, you can only get 3k more DS points. Then you got 10k DS points, and 3k LS points, which place you at -7k. But you can't get higher anymore, cause you are now at 10k cap.. This is the case for me, though I only have 600 LS points. Even though I get DS points from my decisions, they don't raise my DS amount, cause I'm capped.
  24. It took 125+ hours for me to reach lvl 50. I mostly did solo quests, some space missions, hc quests, and wz. That someone could get to 50 in 50-60 hours, is just absurd. I played about 8+ hours everyday, cause I'm on a holiday right now.
  25. Here's a good video made by somebody else that clarifies some "problems" somebodies are having. It's a over 10 min video, but I hope many would watch it, as it may show you guys that some problems you thought you had, are NOT connected to the ability delay.
