  1. As far as I'm concerned, crew skills are broken right now due to the RE system. I know, I know. RE is a random chance. Harder schematics are harder to RE new schematics from. I get all that, we all do, no follow along. 3 missions (provided no fails) to get the mats for 2 green mods. Cost 6000 creds. Need 10 green mods to get an RE on average from what I've seen. Cost 30,000 creds. Now the blue mods cost another 2k for 2. So to make 10 of those is going to cost 40,000 creds. Now we have the purple mod. Great right? Cost goes up dramatically here. You need a critical from a mission skill to get the mats, so i'd say the cost per creation of the purple mod is probably somewhere around 50,000 per unit. These are very conservative numbers, and you can see we've already spent 120,000 for 1 purple mod. Honestly, it would take a lot of luck to hit those kind of numbers. Now the crafter is going to need to use a few of these themselves. So the crafter has easy sunk 300,000 credits into their own needs, plus the cost of leveling the skills. Easily half a million now. And now they can start making that 1 mod for other people. But you want to recoup part of the cost...not sell at cost, but sell for profit. Costs 50k per unit, so you need to sell at about 75k. So for you to buy the mods you need for your gear suddenly costs 225k per piece of gear. Multiple pieces of gear and suddenly the 3 million for the VIP pass and speeder are chump change. Now at this point, the crafter wants to expand their inventory. Keeping in mind that it's going to be another 120k+ to unlock another purple mod (and you may be able to RE these further REALLY upping the price). Here's the sick part though. Those exact same mods can be bought for a few daily commendations. You can run a couple quests and get a couple awesome mods a day. Why spend all that money when you can basically get them for free. TLDR: Learning new schematics through RE for mods is EXPENSIVE and TIME CONSUMING and has little to no market due to daily quests.
  2. This is what happens when you go on and on about how overly powerful your crafting skill is. You talked down about every other skill, encouraged everyone to take slicing. You claimed it was the only way to make money and went on and on about how amazing it was. Now it gets a nerf and people FREAK out about how it doesn't rake in tons of credits anymore. Dear lord people.
  3. Did the last patch break RE? Prior to the patch I had no issues. I was averaging about 1 out of 7 for new patterns from REs. I even unlocked a few purples without problem. After the patch though I've RE'd 1 blue mod 25 times without getting the purple version. I've also RE'd 20 green earpieces (10 of two different kinds) and got nothing. Is RE broken? Is it just Cybertech? Are other people having better luck? I feel like I'm wasting a ton of materials for no reason.
  4. Sorry, I know they aren't DPS abilities, I just never found myself using them unless I was doing DPS. I'm talking about PvP here. I think PvP is a bit too chaotic and uncontrolable for a healer to use the CC very effectively. The CC's are unreliable in PvP, and heat isn't an issue for them PvE. The Jet boost is amazing, but again isn't expensive to use and is on a CD. I've never had an issue in PvP or PvE where I needed any of those and had a heat issue. It's a wasted talent point. Again, an opinion.
  5. These are MY OPINIONS. Protective field and power shield are nearly worthless IMO. If you are going PvP, I guess I could see the use, but for PvE, you shouldn't have that much heat on you. Heat Damping is also pretty useless for all situations. You're neither a DPS in PvE or PvP so making you a slightly more efficient bad DPS is kind of worthless. I've never been in a situation in PvE or PvP where this would have made ANY difference. You could move those 4 points into something much better. 2 points in integrated systems and another 2 in custom enviro suit and you have 2% bonus to heal all targets. 8% self heal buff all the time, and 2% extra endurance. The shield buffs give you less knockback and a bigger self heal buff, but only for 12 seconds with no buff at all for the next 108 seconds. The alacrity debate is worthless pre-50. Alacrity sucks. After 50 though, it's anyone's guess. Can we keep the crits high enough to make critical reaction matter? Is the massive amount of alacrity we need to get rapid scan down to 1.5 seconds really going to up our healing to mach what those points would be worth in crit, surge, or power? The missle seems weak, but it's great. 5% bonus to heal is nice. Relatively low heat if you hit a group. Reduces the amount of off heals you need to do. Later on it can be buffed for added healing making it even better. And, last but not least, if used with supercharged gas, your targets get an armor bonus. So now your tank could have 20% additional armor and a 5% bonus to their healing. Also, I agree that empowered scans is more important than vents early on. You'll end up with both eventually, but you shouldn't be relying on vents to keep healing.
  6. BH helmets win the 'crappiest headgear' award in this game. The stuff looks HORRIBLE. Hardhat with funny visor thingy. Hardhat with no visor. Bugface. Taliban wrap (actually not too bad). Spikey beard. And a couple others that I declined even if there were better in stats because they were just that bad looking. I played a trooper to lvl 30 and had some weak looking stuff, but by the mid 20s it was all very cool looking stuff. I keep seeing my guildies with wicked cool helms that are impressive. And then the biggest baddest bounty hunter in the galaxy ends up looking like he ripped the head off a space spider and scraped out the brains. I'm glad to hear it gets better lol.
  7. I see two main camps here. Camp A hates the WoW cross server automatic insta-warp dungeon finder. Camp B would like something, because honestly, right now we have nothing. It's painful to get groups for anything. Seems like there could be a deal struck and a happy medium met here no? How bout this. A sign up list. You pull up the group sign up list and there are two options. Search or join list. Then, with either selection you have 2 more choices. Heroic Quests and Flashpoints. Choose flashpoint and it gives you a list of FPs. If you picked join, you select which ones you want to be added to. If you picked search, you see a list of the people waiting to join a group for that FP. Choose heroic quests and you get a list of planets. Choose the planet and you get a list of the heroic quests you are on. Hit select boxes next to those that you want to be in the list for. If you picked search, you can see people waiting for the quests you have. Add a little icon next to the list for DPS, Heal, or Tank to make things even easier. There ya go. Short, simple, easy to use. You could sign on for the day, pick which things you want to group for and go about your day waiting for someone to ask you to join. Or you could actively start your own group. Nothing automatic....just a list. No cross server stuff....just a list. You sign up, or use the tool to find a group. You don't like it, dont use it. You can still spam. I hated the automatic cross server stuff of WoW, but honestly, a dungeon finder doesn't have to be that, it can be something else if you open your mind. Just last night, I, a healer, grouped with a tank and we attempted to find 2 dps for a FP. It took 25 minutes and we had to hop back and forth between the fleet and planets to find more people. You can still spam general.
  8. Leveling as a healer works fine if you have people to depend on. You get stuck with Mako till post-30 levels. Towards the mid to late 20s, leveling solo as a healer with a healing companion kind of blows. It can be done. It's just not very efficient.
  9. That works ok at low levels, but honestly, in the mid 20s, it does nothing. The damage stance still reduces her threat, which means I pull the threat, and I have to heal because she can't be trusted to heal very well. Again, I'm making it by doing regular quests, I just don't feel nearly as powerful as the trooper. Full trinity before 30 is awesome. I'm 27 and still just have Mako.
  10. How do you even get the schematics for the speeder bikes? Is it from UT? Slicing? I don't see them at the trainer.
  11. OP, chill out. I understand your pain. Almost every MMO starts like this. Overpopulated servers, long queue times, etc. Everyone is playing every free minute they have, so the servers are constantly full. After a week or so things will calm down. You may still be on a high population server, but the queues will go away. It sucks now, but it will get better. Transferring characters may not be a smooth issue if they didn't plan ahead and create a way to do this. Stopping others from making characters on the server isn't really an option either as people may be assigned to guilds there, or may have friends playing there. The options right now are chill out and wait for queues to reduce, or just start over somewhere else.
  12. I favor mouse-over healing being an option in the game. I'm sure it will be implemented. Any arguement that claims it's essential though just degrades the entire conversation though. It's NOT essential. It really makes very little difference if you have it or not. You simply adjust your play style by clicking, or not clicking. You still move the mouse, and with a 1.5 GCD, speed isn't really an issue. I hope they add it, but honestly, by the time they do, you may find that you prefer click healing over the mouse-over.
  13. I took a trooper to 31/32 in the beta fully spec'd for healing. LOVED IT! Very doable. Could solo most of the heroic 2s with my companions. The first companion works alright as a tank for awhile (heavy armor). 2nd companion is a healer. 3rd companion is a tank though and then you'll really love it. The two of you can dominate the enemy. Healing pre-25 in FPs or for heroic 4 groups sucks. You need people that know what they are doing because your heals are pretty limited at that time. Lvls 25-27 help a lot. Lvls 30-34 are also a huge help. You troopers don't know how lucky you are with companions. You get the full trinity before level 30. BH's start with a healer and don't get their next companion till after 30 and the tanks are the last two. Sucks leveling a BH healer.
  14. If you want to be a healer end game, I would NOT suggest leveling as healing. This is for Merc BH only. You get stuck with Mako forever. If you heal, then you have no Tank or DPS and this is a drag. Lvl as DPS and switch to healing after you get another companion that can do some DPS and tanking duties. I'm stuck in a rough spot. My guild needs me for heals for FPs, but I'm ahead of them in leveling by a bit, so I'm soloing my way as a healer with a healing companion. It's not efficient at all. If you are leveling with other players at the same time, a healer is fine. You can DPS like crazy on easier pulls and heal on harder pulls...it's actually pretty fun in a group setting and in FPs. Trooper companion progression is much more user friendly.
  15. Ok, be forwarned, there are SPOILERS in this for BH and for Troopers. Has anyone noticed how difficult it is to level as a healing focused mercenary? The class is solid, the talents interesting. All together it's a great class and I love playing it. Pre-30 healing in FPs can be a nightmare at times, but things start getting better at 25 and again at 30. We seem to get gimped with our companions though. I played a trooper in Beta, and got to lvl 31 or 32. At the end of planet 1, you get your first companion. A ranged DPS. At the end of planet 2, you get your ship and the droid that comes with it. At the end of planet 3, you get a healing companion. The end of planet 4 gives you a tanking companion. You can even do 3 and 4 out of order to get the tank early. Either way, you have a DPS, a healer, and a tank before you hit level 30. This compliments any style of play you want. As a healing trooper, the DPS you start with tanked good enough until you get an actual tank...then I was amazed at how efficient I could play with him tanking and me healing. For the Bounty Hunter though....I'm halfway through planet 4, approaching lvl 30 and I still just have Mako...a healing companion. This didn't bother me until the late teens, early twenties. No tank, no solid DPS, just two healers... The regular quests aren't a problem, but as a Trooper I was able to solo (me and companion) every heroic 2 area, and even a heroic 4 (had to be stealthy). The two healer combo is not panning out the same way. There is a heroic 2 area thats even shared for both classes and I couldn't progress as a BH at lvl 24, but my trooper cleaned the place out easily at lvl 20. I thought the trooper companion progression was pretty good. 1 of each by lvl 30. It appears the BH doesn't get more companions till post 30, and the tanks are the last 2 companions. I still love the class, and Mako, but it's a bit of a struggle being a healer with only a healing companion. Wish we'd get a better spread of companions and at an earlier point in the story. If we had a dual spec too, I wouldn't care...I could DPS and let Mako heal. But I don't want to have to physically switch everything a couple times a day. I know, pointless complain, just wondering if others had similar issues. Maybe I just got spoiled with the entire army of heavy armor troops at my command as a trooper lol.
