  1. For a mobility spec w/ good force management, id recommend looking at my spec that is listed in the "sith sorcerer pvp guide" (tbh its not much of a guide). Its main focus is control and mobility. Post any questions or comments in there as i dont check many posts in these forums very often.
  2. My crit chance atm is sitting at around 20% but i still need a lot of gear. And the 1% heals arent huge but they definitely add up over time. The reason i didnt pick up seeping darkness is because, while 3% crit is is nice, my build is more focused on control and mobility w/ damage. That being said, if i put three points just for a little more crit, it would take away from somewhere else that benefits more. Now if your build was about nothing but damage or damage with healing then i would definitely grab it.
  3. Reread what I said. =P Damage and -survivability-. One of the main problems you had w/ my spec was saying it lacked survivability, which it clearly doesn't. You only acknowledged the 'damage' part of what I posted. And no, I wasn't knocked down. I find it boring to stand on high grounds and spam force lightning. I prefer to chase people down. Makes the game more fun imo.
  4. Btw, in response to your whole thing on my build not having enough damage and lack of survivability Esxca, I give you this screen shot. =P This is a fairly common game for me. http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2q3vr43&s=5

    Force Lighting...

In my opinion, they should nerf telekinetic throw. WAY more op imo. /sarcasm
  6. Why no love for the hybrid builds? Imo they're stronger than either full spec. Here's what I'm running with: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#201ZbsMrdRrZcrMRsMz.1 It gives ample damage while kiting along w/ all the control you'd want from either tree, and still leaves room for burst due to CL w/ a wrath proc.
  7. I think you mean consular/sage, amirite?
  8. Here is some clarification for you on why the CC is a little bit better than you seem to think. 1. Instant-cast whirlwind either a) forces a trinket which leaves them open to eat a full stun or b) lets you load up on dots early giving you a head start 2. If whirlwind is trinketed, that means your stun will hit for *full* duration which would then cap out the resolve bar. At that point, your target should be well on the way down. 3. In world pvp, instant whirlwind works wonders against companions and is incredibly helpful 4. The root from the knockback *is not* affected by the resolve bar. The knockback itself is susceptible to the resolve bar and not being knocked back, but the root itself will last the full duration completely ignoring resolve. 5. Force slow also does not affect the resolve bar which is also quite wonderful.. EDIT: Ya this tends to happen fairly often. You should pop relic of boundless age and recklessness at the same time before using chain lightning to see much bigger numbers.
  9. I wasn't attempting to be either mean nor nice in either post. And I did actually add a description in my above post. Now in regards to opening w/ lightning strike or force lightning, in a WZ, odds are you won't be in a 1v1 situation. If you throw up affliction and then do a lightning strike straight to force lightning, they won't even have you targeted yet to interrupt your lightning strike. Now if it was a 1v1 situation, that is a different situation and as such I would never open with lightning strike. Also, banking on force lightning having the 50% speed proc when you just threw up affliction only a second before isn't a safe call. In most situations it would still be a long channel. So lightning strike + force lightning = more opening damage. But again, that's in group play, not 1v1. 1v1 would have a different opening entirely. Yes, of course if you use your instant proc on crushing darkness then that means you won't have cast CL. But (at least for me) the instant cast procs *a lot* which means that CL would be put on CD, meaning you'd be sitting there w/ nothing to cast if you're just going to wait for it. That's why for me, my first proc goes to crushing darkness, rechannel force lightning and use that proc on CL. Follow that up with whatever the situation calls for. Not using *both* of those abilities to their fullest will hurt your play. Badly. Also, Whirlwind does not heal your target in PvP. PvE *only*. As you can see in the description it says "Non-players etc etc are healed rapidly."
  10. Btw, the build I posted isn't for sniping from a distance most of the time. That build is for control, burst and strong damage while kiting.
  11. -Agreed, it is optional but still a good choice due to the fact that it can be used while kiting for good damage. Btw, lol @ players dodging deathfield. It's an instant cast w/ a large range. That won't happen unless the player can't aim for some reason. -It's the same thing w/ force lightning...? -Crushing darkness does 2k+ damage over 6 seconds, and you're saying it's worthless? That's 2k damage that can be done while you're kiting, not including any other abilities you throw out. Mobility w/ damage in PvP is a great thing. -Healing will destroy your force pool. Larger pool = less downtime. Yes, I know. DPS spec, but if you aren't throwing off heals when needed then you aren't contributing as much as you could be to the group. -I'm well aware that its the largest damaging nuke, but at the same time those points are better spent in CC (this is a preference thing). In my experience playing casters in MMOs, control is by far your most valuable thing -You crit almost all the time as a sorc so RNG really isn't an issue here *at all*. And again, more mobility as a squishy ranged dps is always a +
  12. My Sorc is lvl 50 and I'm running a hybrid as well. Usually I do a bit over 300k damage 125k healing per warzone leaving me with 8+ medals. On that note, your spec is... kinda terrible. I mean that in the nicest way possible. After talking it over with a few people, here is a much better hybrid pvp build that would fit your playstyle as well as mine. http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#201ZbsMrdRrZcrMRsMz.1 -A better 'rotation' (although situational) would be affliction -> lightning strike -> force lightning -> crushing darkness proc -> force lightning -> chain lightning proc etc -Did you.. you did. You just said crushing darkness is low damage and a mediocre dot. My god, how can you call this a guide? x____x -That talent point is easily better spent on death field. AoE instant cast attack that does good damage w/ slight healing is fantastic, especially when kiting -Two of these points should be moved over to Reserves. A base 100 force increase is fantastic -Due to the incredibly low damage output of lightning strike, you won't be spamming it. You yourself said that force lightning is your main ability which opens up these three points to be better used elsewhere (lightning effusion and lightning spire are highly recommended) -A 10s reduction on our slow-break + increased kiting w/ better force cost reductions is fantastic. Get it. -You want as much range as you can get both against ranged and melee.
  13. I'd prefer to have more control over my damage instead of leaving it (mostly) up to dots. And while I agree that lightning strike is pretty terrible damage-wise, using it while force lightning is locked out is still a good use of the spell imo (if you already have everything else up on the target).
  14. I pulled this from a different website, but for all those saying that sage != sorc, well... read and stop spouting ignorance. Sage to Sorcerer Spoiler Balance: Madness Benevolence: Dark Heal Concentration: Subversion Conveyance: Force Bending Critical Kinesis: Disintegration Deliverance: Dark Infusion Disturbance: Lightning Strike Double Strike: Thrash Force Armor: Static Barrier Force in Balance: Death Field Force Lift: Whirlwind Force of Will: Unbreakable Will Force Potency: Recklessness Force Stun: Electrocute Force Suppression: Deathmark Force Valor: Mark of Power Force Wake: Electric Bindings Force Wave: Overload Forcequake: Force Storm Healing Trance: Innervate Kinetic Collapse: Backlash Meditation: Seethe Mental Alacrity: Polarity Shift Mind Crush: Crushing Darkness Mind Snap: Jolt Noble Sacrifice: Consumption Project: Shock Psychic Projection: Lightning Barrage Rejuvenate: Resurgence Rescue: Extrication Resplendence: Force Surge Restoration: Purge Revival: Reanimation Salvation: Revivification Seer: Corruption Telekinetic Defense: Lightning Barrier Telekinetic Effusion: Lightning Effusion Telekinetic Throw: Force Lightning Telekinetic Wave: Chain Lightning Telekinetics: Lightning Tidal Force: Lightning Storm Tremors: Conduction Turbulence: Thundering Blast Unity: No direct analogue, but closest is Sacrifice. Upheaval: Chain Shock Weaken Mind: Affliction There. Literally every spell has a mirror spell except for unity/sacrifice (which imo unity is a lot better). EDIT: Next complaint will probably be, "Bro, they have different names. That MUST mean they're different."
  15. The only real survivability changes I see w/ your build are reduced damage from dots while giving up the highly needed burst from chain lightning and the self-peels with backlash. And in regards to your ss, I usually do about the same KD ratio, just with a lotttt more damage and healing done. I appreciate the suggestions but I'll have to pass. EDIT: I missed the talent points put over in the corruption tree. Regardless, imo that build lacks utility and burst and focusing more on dots while only having minimal upgrades to survivability. I'd prefer utility + dots and burst. =P
  16. Hmmm that's a good point w/ forked lightning not being worth much in this build. I'll probably change it over to what you recommended for the cc reduction and such. I <3 all the people that are still whispering me saying "dude your spec is so wrong, why would you only go half way into a talent tree?"
  17. I know some people are die-hard lightning spec fans while others are die-hard madness spec fans, but I decided long before launch that I was going to go with a hybrid build. "Noo, don't do it," they said. "You shall be train wrecked," others said. But there were a handful that actually really liked the looks of a lightning/madness hybrid. I'm not here to talk about the viability of hybrid, or where it stands in correlations to a straight lightning or straight madness build. Really, I'm just here to figure out the most optimal way to play this spec. http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#201ZbsMMdRrhZcMcRsMz.1 That's my current build. A few points can be moved around for personal preference but for me, I think that is my lucky build. If you have any suggestions or comments etc, then feel free to comment. What I would like to know though, is when you guys think would be the best time to use lightning strike as opposed to force lightning (but I do understand that if one gets interrupted I can easily switch to the other for the interrupt's duration). CD - Crushing Darkness CL - Chain Lightning Lightning Strike: Advantages - Decent damage, can proc instant CL, low force cost, subversion helps w/ force regen, potential burst w/ forked lightning procs, no cooldown Disadvantages - Hard cast, takes away a lot of mobility, easily interruptable Cast Time: 1.4s Base Damage: 979-1048 Range: 35m Force Lightning: Advantages - Decent damage, slows target, steady damage, procs wrath for instant cast CD or CL w/ increased damage, 1% mana return per tic, no cooldown Disadvantages - Channeled makes it easily interruptable Cast Time: 2.8s Base Damage: 2564 Range: 30m So looking at all that, what do you guys think should be my main source of damage and what do you think I should use for burst? ... Or is there one I should use for both? =o Oh the possibilities.
  18. That's true, but each vendor only sells skins for specific companions which is why I'm trying to figure out where Xalek's is. =P
  19. Ohai. Like other companions, I'm assuming that Xalek has a vendor somewhere that you can buy customization stuff to change his looks but I can't seem to find anything about it. So does anybody know where his customization vendor is?
  20. I find that a majority of our abilities *should* be used and as such, in my opinion, merit a keybind but they obviously don't all fit on one bar. I went ahead and activated my the left, bottom, and right toolbar and applied a hotkey under preferences w/ how I wanted it. But having 4 bars taking up a decent portion of my screen? No thanks. I did the logical thing and went ahead and hid the left, bottom and right action bar since those are simply bars 2, 3 and 4 so the keybinds *should* stick. But they don't. Anybody know how to edit the keybinds for 2-4 while keeping them hidden? I'd rather not having to shift-scroll through each bar ever time I want to use a different ability.
  21. Unfortunately not all the abilities fit onto the bar (a few of which I need to control). I don't want to be controlling a companion out of a 'spell book' more or less.
  22. I know a lot of people probably like to keep their companions on auto so they have less to manage, but I would much rather have full control over my companion and his abilities so I can do pulls that would otherwise be impossible due to my companion breaking CC, but there's a problem. It seems like my companion's action bars are locked because I can't move any abilities around at all. Is there something in preferences I'm supposed to turn on/off? Maybe a button a need to click? Any answers would be appreciated.

    Champion Gear Bags

That's the helpful kind of info I was looking for. =P I wasn't aware of the 50 pvp gear vendor next to our trainer on Dromund Kaas. Thanks!! Well, grats on 50. =P

You buy the lvl 50 gear while lvling? ..How? o_o They all require the centurion commendations or whatever they are, and all we have access to (as far as I know) is the warzone and mercenary commendations. Basically I'm just wanting to find a way to work on getting my end-game pvp gear while leveling. =P

Shameless bump for the bump. I'd really like some info on this as I'm sure other people would as well.
