  1. Had a naked Aric minus gun. Made my way to vantage point. No Aric, naked or otherwise. Travelled to my homestead, logged out. Relogged, went to try again. Get a message that I cannot continue because I need a companion who is currently unavailable. Go to Mission log, wont let me reset quest. Any suggestions ?
  2. /signed. Its times like these that I wonder how on earth BW managed to produce such excellent games in the past. Their name was right up there as one of the top game developers ever, then SWTOR happened.I dont think they can even spell MMO let alone ever play one. From pre-ordering onwards they have ballsed it up at every possible opportunity, not to mention not listening to beta testers. Is it arrogance, naivety, greed ? All three or some unknown factor? Whatever it is, they need to sort it out and fix the mess they have collectively created. The MMO genre should aim to build long lasting communities both in game and on the forum,ToR missed the mark on both counts.Subbers feel marginalised by the constant targeting of the F2P crowd and the ever more jawdroppingly blatent rip-offs in the cartel market. In fact the only strong community they have built is the angry mob with pitchforks and torchs ready to storm BW HQ. Armed with possibly the biggest IP in the world and a budget to match, they failed big time. They made an ok game.Maybe if they learned from their mistakes and tried again it would be better, but they keep making the mistakes. Its a shame really, Im sure they mean well but the end product is flawed from start to finish.
  3. Without clarification from a Dev, this arguement could go on forever with both sides claiming victory. In my opinion, basic barbershop changes- hair, tats etc should be an in game function for credits, from a vendor. Not indirectly via the GTN. Race change and new species, I can understand being in the cash shop. Maybe that is what will happen, maybe not. The statement is too vague. I think BW/EA looked at Turbines hybrid P2P/F2P model for LOTRO, the two are similar in many ways.I played thru the transition from subs to hybrid on that game and it brought up very similar responces from the community to those we get here. The general feeling is that of negativity, subs asking "why pay anymore?" "Store takes priority over gameplay" And they are right. Long reported bugs in raids continue, but if the store billing mechanism breaks then its instant downtime for repairs. I dont play LOTRO anymore, but i keep in touch with guildies or kinmates, I also read their forums. The recent strategy over there is to announce a new feature, wait for the sh*t storm to melt the forum. Then announce due to the outcry on the forums, the new feature will be diluted a bit to appease the players. It makes it look like Turbine are listening whereas in reality they are seeing how far the player base can be pushed.Maybe thats whats happening here, release a "worst case scenario" see how it goes down, adjust to suit.Players claim a victory, EA claim good pr- everyones a winner, except some are more winners than others. I feel an element of sympathy for the community team, having to put out these statements. They must know that we arent all gonna be happy bunnies about it.They dont make the decisions but have to deal with it all here.Hats off to em.As for the suits making these decisions, heads off to em.
  4. As Nokizaru said, EA/BW have got a policy on offensive names but the moderation isnt very consistant. You only have to look at the promo vid for 1.7. In that a Dev used a character name which many people could find offensive. The name was "Slagrida". Now in the uk, Slag is a term used to describe a woman of questionable morales who allegedly puts it about a bit, an insult. It also means the spoil heaps around coalmines and the waste material from smelting.I doubt the Dev meant either of the latter 2, if he did; hes a proper wierdo. But if BW naming policy cant even catch the Devs at it,what hope for ingame? i would think that the different meaning of words from country to country would also make it difficult to enforce.Nevermind translations of words, I could play on an Eng server and call my char something revoltingly awful in French or German and probably get away with it. Maybe its time for BW to update the database of multilingual terms of abuse, or more likely start one.Im pretty broadminded and can swear like a trooper in 3 languages, hey BW Gissa job, I can do that.
  5. I have wanted this since before release, might even have posted it in suggestions, along with many others. I still want this, but I feel it unlikely to happen for the reasons already mentioned. Maybe something more possible would be "Legacy missions", where an alt becomes an NPC quest giver. And fights alongside you thru the quest. I think it was a Trooper quest which started with all of your companions boarding an enemy vessel en masse and briefly fighting as a team.Imagine running a mission as a jedi sage with all companions out whilst your own Havoc squad were running alongside as support. Maybe have your Sith crew as the bad guys. It would have to be instanced obviously but 2 alts and all companions is still less than a raid so the engine should be able to cope. Im not saying i want to replace raiding with solo play but i imagine some epic battles would happen. And it would be an alternative to raids, PvP,questing. Could be a legacy lvl 50 reward, 4 quests per faction. Rewards, iconic armour designs, empty orange shells. Not available in store or anywhere else.
  6. Q Whats a slag ? A Well in the UK its a number of things, among them, slag heap - spoil from coal mines. Or a less than polite term for a loose moralled woman who allegedly puts it about a bit and is none too fussy. So Slagrida. Im guessing its not about coal waste. Kind of shows BW names policy is something of a sham.
  7. Just curious, are you OP simply a renamed Lucascasadeis ? If not, apologies but you do seem very similar in subject matter and writing style. If you are, why have you started a new thread on this topic when you already started one on 23rd Dec covering the same? This goes for the Pazaak thread too, 2 v similar threads in early Jan.
  8. 1. Legacy Quests. Where alts are NPCs and fight along side you.Or against you. 2. More Class and Companion stories, less kill 10 rabid jawas or fetch 10 wookie g strings. you know what i mean 3. More open world and less rat runs. All these massive planets and we can only go where BW let us. I like to explore and wander off the beaten track. Oh and an appearence tab that works like LOTRO
  9. Confirmed. its from lightside vendor. Dunno if darkside has it too.
  10. Hello from Europe. Just looked at this post out of curiosity really. But having read it, I feel that EU and you Aussies are in the same boat. Dedicated local server farms and customer services for a dwindling population. The cynic in me doesnt hold much hope of a server merge for you guys,I think that pretty soon, the nxt announcement will be free server transfers for you to US servers and server migration to the US server farms for all EU servers. EA/BW are looking to maximise profit and by closing down the overseas operations will save them lots of cash.Plus, if they then sell on said farms they can recoup more money. Sounds brutal but I bet u its under discussion. Turbine did it with LOTRO and EA/BW seem to be following a similar path.
  11. Any little project ?????? LMFAO. The store is THE project as far as BW/EA are concerned. Old Jeffy boi trumpeted from the rooftops how awesome F2P is going to be. Well, without a store, they aint gonna make much money. Look on the rest of the forum, see how many threads about F2P there are. Even if it was only a little product it would just be good manners and good business to maybe release a slightly less vague, pr spun, statement to calm the waters. All the negativity and concern does have a knock on effect to other players. If i was in charge of a game bleeding out subs like this one, id be doing all i could to reassure and retain subs, not bury my head in the sand and hope it goes away. Mind you, this is the same guy who did for Warhammer too, so learning from mistakes isnt within his rather limited abilities.
  12. What do we know? About as much as them. They appear to be making it up as they go along.
  13. Just the fact that they are considering charging for 1 planet is enough to worry me. That and the fact that some subbers here on the forum think that its ok. If the devs bother to read any of these threads, you can be sure that they will ignore the majority and hold up the handful of responses from the defenders as evidence that the community is ok with it. I dont mind (and have always expected to) pay for expacs. But not what amounts to a content patch. If they could manage to get all their different teams working on diff content to finish up at the same time ie WZ Ops FP HK51 Cathar etc and released it as a bundle, it would still be a very small expac, and they have already said thats not happening. So its gonna be a bunch of content updates and in the subs model you dont pay for them. Now it seems the rules have changed and its Gouge time. I jumped ship from LOTRO to here cos i was sick of the intrusive cash shop and F2P fiasco. Seems like i gotta find something new again.
  14. I see social score being phased out as F2P comes in. That way the cash shop can sell all the Adaptive social gear to the F2Pers
  15. I think that the games problems started from day 1 of development. BW had a stella reputation for making very good games and this led to an arrogance growing among their team. Thinking they know best and ignoring data from real beta testers, not their internal team led us to where we are now. Their vision was flawed from the outset, had they listened to the fans from the outset, maybe the game could have been saved. Its too late now. The Star Wars title, massive budget and respected dev company should have been a dead cert quality game but i guess the combination of complacency, arrogance and EAs greed proved more powerful in the long run. They can spin it how they like, but going F2P so early in the games lifecycle screams failure and desperation. Those lost subs may come back, or some of them anyway, but are they going to resub? No. The same problem still exists.Lack of PvP, not enough endgame. Giving away the best stuff for free and hoping this will lead to cash being spent on the poorest content is laughable. As far as carrot and stick goes, this is one mouldy old carrot. Dreams of millions of new F2Players arriving all of a sudden are hollow and empty, explayers coming back? some, for a while. MMO players from other games? Maybe a few just to see how bad it is but unlikely to spend. Tor is on its knees right now and instead of trying to cure it, ie solve its many problems, the suits are busy digging it a shallow grave. To be filled in and forgotten once the shareholders have been paid.
