  1. Considering I'm southern, I read it that way naturally.... It honestly cracks me up that people think the " redneck" voice is the one that sounds funny, down hear everyone else is who sounds funny
  2. It just saddens me, its almost like watching SWG's Devs again. Completely lost as to what is driving the players and the problems.
  3. Free time ends June 18. When I unsubbed I had 51 days of time left to go, since then I have logged in two days. Sadly I'm not playing because I just hate the way the game is made, I just dont have any desire to play it. When you aren't being entertained there isn't much reason to keep giving an entertainment company your money
  4. I don't mind credit sinks, but put them in places people don't mind them. A credit sink for changing your clothes is possibly one of the dumbest ideas I've ever seen in an MMO. You already earned the gear, its stupid to need to re-earn it every single time you want to change anything about the way it looks.
  5. PvE server that are large are a little more healthy, those that didn't have a large population are pretty much completely dead. The problem is you are looking at the game from a PvP perspective when it comes to subs bleeding. Yes the PvP servers probably didn't start drying up until the Ranked Warzone stuff, but PvE servers were already well on there way to dieing out. Most PvErs had already burnt every ounce of content prior to the Rated Warzone thing and those that hadn't were often tired of trying to piece groups together. If you played past midnight even on heavy servers there were only a handful of people on. So for a late night player the game has been a nightmare to find anything to do that isn't leveling or the same old daily crap that was boring long before this game was made. TBH the game isn't bad per say, there just isn't anything special about it once you get leveled. Trust me I wasn't going into this game expecting SWG, I was just expecting a little more than a linear WoW clone from 2006
  6. While I agree with you, the bleeding didn't start because of population issues, the bleeding started because far too many people didn't like the game. Take me for instance, Im not leaving because of population, I'm certainly not leaving because of community. I decided to unsub because A.) The game has gotten boring insanely fast B.) It simply did not launch with features that allows someone that plays off hours to enjoy the game. I can't do much about my work schedule, so I chose a game that allowed me to enjoy myself at those odd hours. Things like LFD tools, and PvP queues that don't take hours were must have for me. It was kind of sad, I tried sticking with it by finally starting to PvP. After setting through 4-5 1 hour+ queues and never having it pop I finally decided enough was enough. WoW may not have one of the most stellar communities, but at least at 3-4am I can log on and do an instance within 15 minutes or get some PvP going within about 2 minutes. Plus let me add the cross server grouping is freaking amazing. Its so awesome to be able to play with old Shattered Hand friends and current guildies without needing to server transfer or have toons on each server. They also are expanding that concept in that low level zones will be shared by a server cluster, thus increasing the number of low level players in each zone.
  7. Luckily knowing Afto from WoW and SWG I can say he is a pretty nice guy. The guild he was originally in for WoW was far from full of nice guys but I've never had an issue with him personally. The problem with SWTOR is two fold. The population issues didn't start because of population issues, but because people decided the game wasn't for them. It doesn't matter the reasons, and it doesn't really matter if they were valid, all that matters is that they stopped playing. Now once those people left it was a snowball affect and it pretty much happens with anything in business. Once your product starts sliding down, its pretty hard to stop it, its even harder to push that big thing back up the hill. I resubbed to WoW because I just wasn't enjoying SWTOR at all. I hate that because I wanted this to be my new home for years to come, just like SWG was, but it isn't going to happen. My issues with the game are not just lack of features, but the core of how the game was designed. They are things that will probably not change any time soon so I chose to unsub and fill out my survey, thats really all I can do. Oddly enough I thought I like many of the idea's they had going when I bought the game, but I discovered very quickly that I can't go back and play like I did 10 years ago. Games have evolved and I have too, thats just the way things are. The sad part is a very large chunk of the problems that exist with the game goes back to one single point in time, that point is when they chose their game engine. It is the reason so many people have issues with load times and performance, it is the reason that group sizes are so small, and it is the reason server capacities were kept down at launch. Its easy to say that all BioWare should of done was increase the caps, but it seems fairly evident that they had no confidence in the game engine to be able to handle that work load or they would of never set the caps so low to begin with. TLDR: Afto is a cool dude, and it is never the players fault. When players stop paying for your product it is because your product has a flaw.
  8. I like the story of each class, I just wish I didn't need to do the same quests 90% of the time to see that 10% of whats new. I loved leveling my first character, by the second I hit the early 40's and was just done. I would of really like to see all of the story lines, but I just can't take doing the same thing across 16 different charcters 90% of the time.
  9. I think people do indeed go back, but rarely do they stick with it. Thats what I did post NGE with SWG but it always just felt like garbage so never did stick around. Currently I've gone back to WoW and it looks like it may stick for a while.
  10. There choice of game engine has completely killed them. It is the reason for the smaller server sizes at launch and the smaller raid/group sizes as well. Should of went with a proven gaming engine or one built in house. The game has already started trending, if the server transfers and such don't get out real soon they are gonna need a miracle to keep 750k. I'm beta testing The Secret World atm, talk about a breath of fresh air in the MMO world. Has some interesting concepts.
  11. Eh lets not get too crazy. SWG right before it shut off might have been better than right after the NGE hit but it was still pretty bad. I tried going back I don't know how many times, and at the end of the day the only thing that felt great about it was the openness of it and crafting. The combat still required horrible work arounds through macros and such and it still had bugs from launch in it. I will agree on the space though they should of just stole it straight from SWG
  12. I don't know I've never been a big fan of console games anyways ( well since I found MMO's in the early 2000's) so BioWare hasn't been getting much of my money anyways. I don't really have too much fault with BioWare atm, it is their first MMO, and you know it does take time to learn how to run one of these things. I however, do blame EA alot for what has happened to the game. I think its pretty obvious at this point that they game got pushed out to early due to pressure to meet the holiday deadline, and with another 3-6 months of tuning the end game and having the game essentially launch in its 1.2 state it would of been fine. Problem is now its lost its momentum, hit a brick wall, and it feels like its sliding down slowly leaving a trail of slime behind. The ultimate killer for me has been the leveling experience after the first class you level. I'm an altoholic, I have 8 85's and another 5+ 80's I have leveled in WoW, and I'm still leveling another. The difference is that at least the first 60 levels can be played in various different zones, heck even in Outlands you can now. However, with SWTOR its pretty much the same thing on every new character, I couldn't even manage to get a second to 50 which is unheard of for me. Game just ended up being way to linear and felt way to boxed in.
  13. I don't really think the timing was bad, more so the implementation. They made some poor choices right out of the gate, namely the number of servers they opened and rushing to meet the christmas deadline. I was one of those that thought it was just time to launch, because eventually with some bugs or not you gotta start making money back on a project. Hindsight is 20/20 though and looking back they would have met with much better results waiting to release the game with all of the legacy stuff already in. I also think now that it was a mistake not having a LFD finder, but that might not have been as big of an issue had they not spread the population out so much. It didn't help their cause having to push back Rated Warzones, and they spent lots of early time on things like UI, I won't be surprised though if it isn't one of the last of the " WoW Clones" that comes out for a while. I think its fairly apparent that changing the setting and adding one or two unique things isn't going to hold most people while they wait for you to get the basics implemented.
  14. Not really, some weeks WoW doesn't even have Maintenance, the just do a server restart so nice try. Besides the time that they do theres is generally better for most players. In the US most people are either at work, school, or asleep ( if you work nights). I believe it hits EU prior to prime time unless it runs over, which unless its a major content patch is rarely does. I have no problems with them bringing down servers multiple times a week if it is fixing something that is game breaking or creating all kinds of issues. Sorry, but matric cubes don't fall into that.
  15. Oh I know how to make money, I'm just so damn tired of the dailies I wanna stab someone. Wasn't bad before my friend had to quit, with a Healer + tank combo and two DPS companions we rolled through all rather quickly. I had the same issue in WoW, notably enough haven't done a damn one since resubbing lol. I've unsubbed and will keep an eye on it to see what happens with the game, but for right now I might as well just play WoW, thats all this game is anyways. At least over there I have a crap ton toons leveled so I can hop around alot and 2-3 minute Heroic queues are damn awesome. Oddly enough, at least late at night, the community has been pretty good. Even in random heroics which is really shocking.
  16. Meh it is when your broke lol. What cash I did have all got sunk into the guild, and I had stopped making any prior to the patch because I didn't see much need for more. Didn't think I was gonna needs a crap ton of credits to get anything out of the legacy system because I thought we could either unlock it by grinding or pay for it. As much as I check the forums I got blind sided by it, didn't know that had changed. Also didn't realize the first bank slot was gonna cost 600k, which pissed me off beyond belief. Here start a guild, and the one thing worth having is a credit sink right off the bat. You know I don't even blame BioWare, just like every gaming company that crawls into bed with EA they end up getting screwed. Game would have been so much better off if it was being released in the 1.2 state.
  17. Meh I think the major problem with PvP is that the gear entry makes it frustrating to get into. I know I was gonna start messing with it, but to talking around to different people and all of them told me to make sure I at least had the blue set to start with. They also advised me not to start on a level 50 toon, especially being I was a healer, because it would get frustrating quick. Apparently the Imps on our server are very good at singling out healers and killing them quick. I personally can't blame anyone for cancelling and either trying something else out or heading back to WoW. Someone sent me a Scroll of Resurection the other day so I used it lastnight. As a DPS I logged in and had a group in less than 2 minutes, it was definately nice. I think the problem is, just like every other new MMO people go in telling themselves they can over look things, I know I did. For the most part I have, but I must admit that the leveling to endgame switch is very lackluster. You are leveling and its awesome, it feels very different from a questing stand point. You feel immersed, you get this feeling that your character actually has some meaning. Then you hit 50, it all stops and you are back to dailies, instance runs, and PvP. Don't get me wrong, I knew it was probably going to be that, I just didn't think the transition would be so abrupt, its something they really need to work on imo. I was also disappointed with the new daily area. No new story really, just click on a terminal and collect them and turn them in. It works, but it definately gives it a feel of, here this should tie you over. I also think many of us keep looking for the social game we had back when we played games like SWG, and I'm sad to say I think that is something from a different era that we will never see again. What people play MMO's for now has fundamentally changed from 10 years ago, and I guess I'm included in that as well.
  18. Corellia is horrible. It should not take the amount of time it does to load in when there are 4 people on the entire planet
  19. Not even just coming home. I work a schedule where I work a couple days, off a couple days and it rotates on a two week cycle. I also work nights, so 90% of the time when I'm off I'm playing from midnight to 6am central time. There is really nothing more frustrating than to have your time filler not be working on nearly every day you've been off over a two week period. That happened to me right after 1.2 I understand that I'm in the minority more than likely, and most people are just thinking " QQ more", but damn if it aint frustrating to deal with after a while.
  20. As long as you play during primetime US hours Canderous Ordo is a solid server for PvE( Seen it run two instances on the fleet at primetime on Republic side, Imperial is even heavier). After about midnight central time though it dries up next to nothing.
  21. There are no classes in the game and no levels, if something is OP every single player in the game will be able to play it without needing to reroll. Its also will be nice to not need 5 billion toons to be able to do everything, you can learn it all on one. I don't trust Funcom any further than I can throw them, but from a gameplay stand point, if I could put up with SOE for 3 years I'm pretty sure I can handle it. Its also going to be a very niche game, so I don't see the massive cryfest ensuing on it like you see on most big titles. It will also be refreshing to play a game that isn't a freaking WoW clone for once. Heck I'm considering going back to WoW, because why pay to play a half finished clone of a game thats already finished.? In the end I may just drop MMO's for a while if I can find enough stuff to do late at night. TBH I think this is a good game, the problem is 1.2 is how the game should of been released, and we should have already gotten a LFD tool, Ranked Warzones, and several other systems that are considered standards for a mondern MMO. They said they had all of those things pretty much ready to go quickly after launch, I wouldn't exactly call it quickly. Keep in mind I didn't play SWG because I was a StarWars fan, I became a StarWars fan because of SWG. The StarWars part has already lost the coolness factor 3 months in. I got my LS and Blaster fix and I'm tired of leveling alts so meh. Also I'm not sure swapping servers will help, I've heard even on West Coast servers it dries up by about 11-12 pm ( which is only about 1-2 am here). Thats better but still doesn't fix the problem, and it still doesn't solve the problem that everyone I know or have gotten to know I'll need to leave behind. BTW, how did you end up GM? Everyone quit or did they restart on another server?
  22. Its just like the leveling experience. You are having a great time and enjoying all the story and stuff and then * poof* it just ends and you are back to the same old thing every MMO does. It would definately go a long way into spicing things up a bit instead of just being one more time waster that ends.
  23. Canderous just kills me, or maybe its the game, either one it sucks. The server has lots of people on it, seen it hit two instances on the fleet during primetime ( and thats on the republic side) but once midnight hits its like the game just stops. Its really frustrating as a late night player to try and do anything other than stuff that can be solo'd. Very few instance runs, almost impossible to get the new heroic 4 done for the weekly, hell the one time I actually decided to try and PvP I sat in the queue for nearly an hour and said screw it. I thought it might just be the Republic side so I hoped on my Imp toon, nope exactly the same. I'm going to cancel my sub tonight. I've got 52 days left so if they manage to get a LFD tool put in by then I'll reup and keep rolling, if not I'm heading elsewhere. I think by the time its up The Secret World may be out anyways.
  24. Just wanted to let everyone know that I have turned our Guild over to Khelhorn. We aren't imploding or anything ( actually we are growing) RL is just really getting in the way. The chances I do have to log in are mainly after 2am and thats just not good as a GM. So I thought it best if we had someone in control during prime time hours. I will still be around as much as I can but if things keep going the way they are that won't be much.
  25. Is it already over or is it an extended run thing?
