I could argue the same, but crit is useless with the new diminished returns at lvl 55 (Which is why my gear has absolutely no crit). Therefore you gain a bigger dps bonus from the raw power than you would from willpower. I've tried with both set of augments and found greater numbers with pure power.

Should drop those willpower augments for power, as they give you more return with the changes in 2.0.

Madness is in NO WAY the "best" for pve. At least those who say it is do not parse using Torparse. Currently I'm am the 3rd highest parsing Dps assassin (in deception) the two assassins above me are both also, deception. On average I'd say, if played properly, deception should out dps madness by at least 200 dps on most fights. Throw your crit away completely and stack power. That is all.

Open with maul first, that way another duplicity has a chance to proc through your voltaics

I'm sorry but these stats are all sorts of messed up for 2.0... As one of the highest parsing Deception assassins on torpare (Ryuri) I would have to beg to differ with EVERY comment and suggestion made towards any crit at this point. With the new changes made to the scaling diminishing returns for both main stat and crit, it is now much more viable to negate all your crit and stack power. I've even went so far as to swap my augments for power ones, as after doing to math, having enough base crit through main stat or crit itself would equal a substantial loss in damage. Edit: With accuracy at 0 you'll hit next to nothing PvE and struggle to take down tanks in PvP

Try popping Force shroud as soon as you spike them, I find that you are correct in that they will usually use their knockbacks and stuns off the bat to chew your burn phase. However I find that when I hit shroud and proceed with my burn, they usually get scared and panic a bit, usually resulting in a mess up of their rotation and me winning via execution of a complete burst rotation or half of one anyways. xD

No worries, I think the point of him highlighting the fact he uses spike was to add that he spec'd into deception's 70% slow effect from spike

I want to be clear.. I misread your original. Just as I think you are misunderstanding his. I believe he means he uses spike as his first attack from being stealth.

Too bad the only spike thing in darkness is the "use out of cloak" ability, ANY assassin in ANY spec has spike. As for Deception being **** in pve.... tell that to my raid group who are all (including myself) full BH/campaign) when I pull boss agro. I've never had a problem in Ops or Pvp, infact I've been top dps of pvp matches quite often when i did pvp (pre 1.4, now I imagine it would be just silly) My current stats are BUFFED/Stimed (Willpower @(EDIT: 2145) DMG: 1051-1246 Bonus DMG: 662.5 Acc:100.35% Crit: 35.34% Crit X: 77.51 Health: 21063 UnBuffed/not stimed (Willpower @ 1915) DMG: 961-1156 Bonus DMG: 571 Acc: SAME Crit: 29.21% Crit X: SAME My build has always been deception but, I have recently specd into the chain shock as opposed to my original Deception/darkness spec 2/31/8 (with the 2 into Charge Mastery for the added unmitigated dmg) My rotation is primarily from stealth: Blow all dmg boosting CDs + Spike + Voltaic X 2 (Maul if proc'd) + Maul which is usually proc'd by this point if not used by my second attack, if used then i use Voltaic X 2 or shock, then I hit blackout throw in 2 reg hits, throw out a Discharge (which at this point has 4-5 stacks + overcharge and recklessness still active) From there its maul when duplicity is proc'd, shock as often as is up, with an eye on your Voltaic charges to judge when to throw another out to keep the buff up, and discharge at 3 stacks at least (can be used with none if you're really unlucky). I try to keep my force at around 20-30% out of burn phases, which seems to give me at least 4 static charges before discharge is up again, or at least around there. During burn phases I use blackout and force cloak and blackout again(since 1.4 <3) Since the changes I have noticed MUCH improvement when it comes to force management as well as a substantial dps increase. taking my formal pre 1.4 rotation and tweeking it wasn't hard (you literally subtract a few voltaic's and replace them with mauls if procd and basic hits to keep your static charges and force up) Not too mention the fact that using force cloak gives you force regen and now also eliminates Blackout's CD <3<3 therefore you are able to have massive amounts of force regen during a burn phase.

We can battle res. Force cloak + res = battle res I've done this many time as a deception assassin to the love of my raid group... for any bit we lack in sustained dps we make up for in burst/utility.

As stated many times over. It all depends on the player, not the spec... As a deception spec I get told that i cant do anything for dps, yet when with my guild I'm part of the progression raid group, with 8 man HM EC on farm months ago. Deception is more burst through self procs and trying to maintain it. via blackout/forcecloak. Where as madness is more DOT focused. Either can be quite effective, but as I began with. It all depends on the player.

About half way through August now and still no news of this world event. Just a thought but if you're not patching tomorrow morning, why not give us some tidbit of info about that? Instead of the equivalent of "Hey! Nothing new is here!" Sorry but with 3 toons at 50, one of them on the opposite faction for HK. BiS gear for my main, enough credits to power level 5 more toons if I wanted... You get the point (I and many others running out of things to do )

Personally as a deception I prefer a build of 100% acc, 36% crit buffed (i want 35 but the balance is tricky) and 77.5% surge. With a build of 2/31/8. Also my willpower is at 2024, cant remember what my power is at but i believe its 580-600ish. All these are buffed with exotech for raids.
