  1. I take issue with your quoting my post for your ranting. The tone of your post seems more closely aligned with the emotional content you describe than mine did. Further, I'm not doing any of the things you describe. I've already made my decision to cancel my subscription. I've continued to post on these boards because I'm advocating for BioWare to do a better job. I would really like this game to be at a level for which I would pay a subscription fee. Change is only effected if there is discourse on the problems.
  2. Your hypothetical reveals you have no idea what the chronology of a rollback implies. Stop talking about things you don't understand.
  3. You realize that everyone that cancels reduces your potential kill pool by one, correct?
  4. You talk like you're quite a coding expert, so I'm sure you're familiar with the battery of testing that a good software house puts release candidates through before deploying them live. A patch that was so flawed in its core design should never have been released. The fact that it was speaks volumes about the competency of BioWare in managing a complex MMORPG.
  5. Or just people that recognize that the only power they have in this situation lies in their wallet. You invest time and money into playing an MMO. The fact that this patch was released to the live servers shows that this development team doesn't understand their own game. It's an entirely reasonable response to cancel your account if you don't have confidence in the development team's ability to provide an MMO you want to invest your time and money into.
  6. 1.1 Ilum was an egregious mistake that betrays a fundamental lack of understanding of your own game systems. Your sparse and casual approach to communicating with your players regarding this issue solidifies the fact that you do not understand the significance of your mistake. The damage you have done to the confidence of the PvP community can't be overstated, nor can the damage you have done to the integrity of the PvP system. You will lose subscriptions, and you should.

  8. Won't leave you again. Will wait for Diablo 3. Until then, Starcraft.
  9. They showed a disturbing lack of foresight in allowing these changes to go live. They may be in over their heads in trying to balance a game system as large and complex as an MMO. Their total lack of communication over the course of the day is also really troubling. This is a bad day for all of us.
  10. I've unsubscribed for two reasons. First, the lack of foresight BioWare displayed in deploying these changes leaves me questioning their ability to manage and balance a game system as complex as an MMO. Second, their total silence on the issue as the day has progressed and the impact has compounded leaves me questioning their dedication to the PvP community.
  11. Holding a large company to a standard of quality control and foresight when they release new code to the live servers is perfectly acceptable. A large company is just as culpable as any other company (if not more so) if their patch is a train wreck.
  12. Certainly. I just went through the PTR forum and picked a couple out. There were other threads that spelled out the potential issues more directly, but this should suffice to show that players knew that the Ilum changes in conjunction with server imbalance would be a huge problem. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=190195 http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=180338
  13. They lost a lot of that good faith when they rolled this patch out to the live servers despite repeated protests that precisely this situation would result.
  14. Appropriate damage control should include an explanation of how this change made it to the live servers. If the developers did not anticipate the results of this patch it calls into question their ability to manage the game. If they did anticipate the results of this patch, it calls into question their judgement. Either way, introducing this version of Ilum to the live servers has had a negative impact on the players' trust and confidence in the PvP developers. This issue needs to be addressed as much as the actual gameplay issues, or the PvP community will suffer.
