  1. The jedi are pretty much hypocrites when you get right down to it. They constantly position themselves as "peacekeepers" while simultaneously serving as the reason for half the conflicts the Republic runs into. I pretty much get the impression that the majority of jedi are like normal people with religion. Sure the holy teachings emphasizes peace and if they are in temple they might even heed their own supposed beliefs but out in the real world they really only marginally observe the code. Usually the jedi you run into are either very preachy (usually the ones who just got out of training or the masters) or they are much more lax with their beliefs. (even going so far as to work with you even though you are a sith) The only core tennant that Jedi seem to hold to is their general mistrust of the sith.
  2. Well all we really know about the skywalker line is that Anakin is miraculously conceived in a slave and we also know that when powerful force users have children they tend to be powerful force users so it's not entirely out of the realm of speculation that Anakin could have been part of a long running Sith line (would explain why no Jedi would recognize the name Skywalker) And his mother could have just been less than completely honest about the whole immaculate conception. Edit: admittedly I'm pulling stuff out of my *** but you still have to admit if they tied it into the Skywalker story it would be pretty cool.
  3. I wonder if bioware is gonna reference the Skywalker line in SWTOR.
  4. But if the emperor is such a recluse how does anyone know who actually is who? I mean any Sith could claim to be a hand of the emperor and it's not like anyone really knows.
  5. Ok so my understanding thus far is that the emperor is at the top of the food chain but the emperor has to switch bodies so his "Voice" is his body for the time being. Then the Wrath is the strongest Sith he can find who acts as his stooge and does his dirty work. He also has this group called "The Hands" who seem to act as his butlers or something. That all makes sense but what kinda makes it hard to understand is where does the Dark Council fit into all this? Is the council a power separate from the emperor? Where do they rank in relation to the Wrath? Can the council oppose a decision made by the emperor?
  6. Him not being very strong with a lightsaber is understandable but he almost got crushed by a force ability by a lord. He really should not have been at a lord's mercy especially when it comes to the force. EDIT: I mean there's loads of old guys who still kick *** what makes him so different?
  7. yea but even then it still doesn't make sense. Throughout the entire game it is constantly reinforced that YOU DO NOT MESS WITH THE DARK COUNCIL. The game constantly stresses how overpowered dark council members are as they can only be replaced when one of them dies which is no small feat. So how is it that this twerp somehow is a dark council member as any sith worth with a lightsaber is gonna be gunning for his spot?
  8. Seriously, this guy is one of the biggest pushovers I have ever seen in the story. The Dark Council is supposed to be made up of the "12 most powerful sith in the galaxy" and yet this guy is somehow threatened by a few bounty hunters? As if that wasn't enough LORD (not even a darth) Drahig (Mr. Cyborg dude) almost 1shots this supposed DARTH with a wave of his hand. This is rediculous. How on earth is this guy on the same council as people like Thanaton, Baras, Jadus, Malgus ect.?!?!
  9. I hate systems that add a deserter debuff for 2 reasons: 1. If somebody is going to get a deserter debuff then they won't leave and will instead just AFK in a corner or actively help the other team to end the match sooner. This is far more irritating to everyone else than if they just left. 2. Deserter debuffs punish people who get DCed or get booted from the game for one reason or another and there is no reason to do that. If there was a small Valor loss I could live with that as it won't be a huge deal if I get DCed in the middle of a match but if there is a annoying deserter debuff then it makes getting DCed or having your game glitch out and boot you VERY frustrating
  10. Well obviously the game is going to run like crap if you are trying to run it on a machine built for windows 95 that's not the issue. The issue is that you don't need a supercomputer to run this game and even if you get a supercomputer that kicks *** the loading screens still take time that they shouldn't which is in no part due to your hardware. Yes this game has hardware requirements like any other game but if you meet those and are still having problems then the issue lies not with you. And as for your snarky comment about my knowledge on the matter I would like to point out that you can comfortably run a game like this without having to having FiOS. Sure having FiOS is nice and you might get some nice pings to the server but even the lowest broadband package offered by Verizon in most areas is perfectly sufficient to run an MMO in this day and age. The idea that the solution is always to spend reckless amounts of money on building a skynet-esque gaming machine and getting an internet package capable of downloading a gig a minute is just stupid. It's unrealistic for the game dev to expect the customer to have machines and connections of these calibers which is why devs doing these things called optimizing their code. They try to minimize the amount of information that your computer needs to communicate to the server thereby avoiding lag issues due to connection speeds and they try to optimize their game engine to avoid killing every computer attempting to run their game. Using your own numbers if you get kicked in 60 seconds and the wall opens every 40 seconds and the loading screen takes you 15 seconds you have to get from the back room it spawns you in down the hallway and out of the spawn room in under 5 seconds before you get kicked. The fact remains that there are plenty of issues that force people to leave a game against their will such as disconnects or their game glitching out and punishing those players is just adding insult to injury without solving anything in return. Adding penalties is not going to make all those quitters into tenacious and amazing additions to your team and it is not going to turn every steamroll game into a nail-biter of a match so there is no reason to make the game more irritating to people without any benefit.
  11. you apparently don't know much about computers or how this game was designed then. Even with the game installed on a SSD and a very fast connection the game still doesn't actually access your drive until a good 10 seconds into the loading screen which means that no matter how fast your computer is there is still a chance that you get unlucky and get caught by the spawn screen. This isn't a matter of the computer/internet being slow (first off you don't need particularly good internet to be able to play almost any game without issue you just need to avoid issues like packet loss and issues arising from external interference which to some degree is always going to be there no matter what you do) it is a matter of the spawn AFK kicker being a little fast. If you load into the game and walk over to the spawn room and see that you walked in just as it reset to 4 bars then you are not going to get out of the spawn zone fast enough before you will get kicked. It doesn't happen very often but it is VERY irritating when it does happen and it is in no way the players fault when this happens so stop trying to displace blame.
  12. Then why the hell would I want them on my team anyway? good riddance to them. The last thing I want is these cancerous players saying "Well **** it I can't leave or I get deserter penalty so I'll stop trying and go stand in a corner" (which will happen and you know it if they put in deserter penalties) and then not only am I down a player but that same player is taking up a slot that someone much more useful could be occupying. Your solution doesn't solve anything and just aggravates the problem. Like I said before there is nothing particularly at risk currently in Warzones so there is really no reason to punish people who leave. If the game starts punishing people who leave it's not going to magically turn all matches into competitive neck to neck battles. You are just going to find people who find a new way to leave the match whether that be afking in a corner or people who stop caring about the goal and start trying to farm medals. You are not going to be rid of these people so just accept that and try to make the best of it which is what I think the current system does. At least the current system doesn't punish someone for getting screwed over by the game or getting DCed.
  13. I did about 2 seconds worth of research on Mercs and do you know what I found? With about 1/3rd of a brain anyone can see that Mercs abilities are geared for 1 of 2 things. You are either captain buzzkill or you are a healmonkey. Just because you aren't built to charge in to battle lightsaber blazing doesn't mean you are useless. A Merc has cripples/knockbacks(which are very fun to use) not to mention that the merc has a TON of AoE hurt that he can lay down on a team. Sure a Sith Warrior/Sorc can run off away from his team towards the goal but what good is that going to do him? All he has done is seperate himself from his team and your team can then rip him apart without having to worry about the rest of his team protecting him. Mercs appear to be built to stop concentrated pushes by the enemy team by AoEing the hell out of clusters of enemies and overwhelming the enemy healers.
  14. A smuggler/operative have cover which allows them to rain death from above without anyone being able to charge to them they also have knockbacks they can use while in cover. They also have stealth. Stop dwelling on what your class doesn't have and exploit what you do have. You seem to be suggesting that Bioware should just make every class the same because lo and behold some classes are better at carrying the ball than others..... YOU DON'T SAY!?!
  15. I am most certainly not in favor of deserter penalties because what exactly do they achieve besides pissing off someone who is already irritated? I honestly don't care if somebody jumps ship when things are looking bad for the team or we are getting pounded. It's a frustrating experience that only gets more frustrating the longer you are forced to sit through it and it's not going to suddenly change because 1 person stayed. The other big reason I am against deserter penalties is they many times punish the people who get DCed or their game glitches. As someone who gets the occasional internet fart and gets DCed I REALLY don't want to log back in just to see that I now have to wait a whole half an hour just to get back into a match and then get put in a match in progress and then booted again because I couldn't get out of the damn spawn zone before it booted me for not getting out of the spawn zone (this has happened to me and if I were to get a deserter debuff for **** like this I would blow a fuse). People seem to be searching for some kind of penalty because WoW did it but SWTOR and WoW are 2 different animals and the ONLY time I would be in favor of a penalty for leaving a match would be if it was a rated Warzone because currently there really is nothing at stake in the Warzones so why do people feel like you have to be punished for abandoning your team?
