  1. Ya, I wanted to finish all of the features I had planned before I put up advertisements, but even if I had put up ads, it would have generated very little income so I chose to leave them off. With that said, I have received quite a few offers and pleas (via email) to bring the site back up. Nothing is for certain as of this moment, but I will let you guys know. Thanks.
  2. Jtsd, Sorry to inform you of this, but I have taken the site down. Unfortunately, the site did not achieve the goals I had set for it and the site model would have never even broken even on expenses. Because of this and a few other reasons, I decided to cut my losses. There are a lot of other great sites out there for parsing, which you can find a list of in this thread. All the best, James
  3. ZooperCat, you can remove my site, TorParse from the list. I turned off the service today. Good luck everyone!
  4. I enjoyed your scenario, it really made me lol! But more to the point of your post. I had never looked at immersion from this perspective, but I can see what you mean. I, personally, think that these mechanics are there because that's just the way MMOs are, but they (BW/EA) could definitely do a better job at immersion.
  5. I keep my sub going because I love the Star Wars universe and I'm hoping that some day (hopefully in the near future), the game becomes enjoyable again. I haven't logged on in quite some time, though. Friends left/Low Pop Server - The vast majority of my guild and friends left to play other games. MMOs aren't very much fun to play by yourself (imo). I could find a new guild, but then you have to go through the whole process of integrating yourself into a new group of people again... I'm sure we are all familiar with the process. Not to mention the servers are rather lacking in population atm. Space Combat - I was an SWG player and I really loved the space combat... it was practically an entire game in-and-of itself. I know this is not SWG 2.0 and that's not really what I'm asking for, but the recent news about "3D Space Combat" being developed excites me. We'll see if that pans out. Open World PVP - I love PvP, but more specifically, I love open-world PvP. This game does nothing in this department. Playing on a PvP server doesn't matter... it might as well be PvE. In my opinion, the leveling areas are too segregated and there is really hardly any chance that you will ever run into a player of the opposite faction while out and about. No Immersion - Honestly, I don't really feel like I'm playing a Star Wars game. It feels more like just another game in space. I don't really know how BioWare would go about fixing this problem, but a couple of my ideas: 1) The worlds are too linear. They make it very difficult to just go exploring and discover random things out in the wild. The planets feel more like maps, or maybe even mazes. 2) The perception of "choice" and "my saga" is really a lie. Everything is pre-determined. It doesn't feel like my character. Poor crafting system - The crafting system in this game has a lot of potential. I think the RE system is really nice, but there is just not enough reward to invest in this system. And even the rewards that there could be are sapped by the addition of "Bind on Pickup." Let me run this Operation to get better gear... oh hey, a new schematic for armor, but wait... the armor I just got is better and this armor I can now craft is Bind on Pickup....???
  6. I love the save feature so that you can transfer your UI layout to other characters w/o having to re-do it every time, but please add keybinds to this. I use a Razer Nostromo and I have to redo all my keybinds on every character... not fun. =/
  7. Ya, I learned a lot about indexing when I was creating a "Related Articles" system on another website I develop. It's amazing what you can do with proper indexing in a database
  8. One quick note about the excel spreadsheets. Be careful not to change the column containing the locale number to a "Number" formatted cell. Excel will only store out to 15 digits and it rounds anything past 15 digits. Most of the locale numbers are longer than 15 digits, so this will completely mess up your database. I had to learn this the hardway. Keeping the cells as "Text" format will be sure the numbers maintain their integrity.
  9. Nice, thanks for adding what type of instance Just a quick note tho, I noticed you removed the NPC types I had labeled as "Operations Boss Helper." In certain circumstances, you may miss a boss fight because the "helper" shows up before the boss. I know there is an instance of this occurring in Explosive Conflict where if you wipe on the "helper" before the boss shows up, the fight will not be flagged as a boss attempt.
  10. They are different. I have an excel spreadsheet with all the boss ids for Operations and Flashpoints and a couple World Bosses. I don't have them split up into different modes yet (ie Story Mode vs Nightmare) but I would be happy to share this spreadsheet with you guys if you want. You can email me at james@torparse.com if you have any interest in it. I also have a complete list (well like 98%) of all spell IDs for classes that I would be willing to share too. Just let me know which spreadsheets you would like in the email.
  11. I agree it will be cool to see all the parsers evolve Spasibo Feoktistu! Tozhe po-russki govoruyu
  12. Thanks for the kind words Not using due to lack of a certain something you are looking for?
  13. Good to know, I might take you up on that offer one day
  14. Ya, that would be pretty awesome Are you trying to drop hints at what your new update is looking like?
  15. I can see how this stat would be confusing as ZooperCat has clearly pointed out for us. I never intended for it to be used as a guide for gearing, just another stat associated with missing. Sorry for the confusion and I may even consider removing it or changing it.
  16. Thanks, I appreciate it! I've been working on multi-log parsing, and it's coming along nicely. Hope to have it done soon.
  17. Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, only so much information is available in the logs. Absorbed damage is in the logs, but information on how it is absorbed is not. If you're interested in the site, be sure to check back every few days for updates... working on some cool features right now (or at least I think so!). Thanks!
  18. Actually added this a few hours ago I'm not using co-effecients based on classes yet, so consider it an approximation until I work in the numbers by class (although it should be within 3% of exact values right now). Thanks!
  19. I agree, very nice job on this guys! I like it a lot
  20. Some of these are cool ideas. I'll give you my thoughts on them below. Thanks for providing feedback, btw.
  21. I could use a little help with finishing up the multi-log combat parsing feature. If someone could provide me with logs for all their members from a night of raiding or HMs, I would appreciate it. Thanks! Can email me directly at james@torparse.com or contact me here.
  22. No problem! And that would be an awesome stat, but unfortunately there is no way to track health at all and the log does not differentiate heal from overheal. =/
  23. Lol, thanks... don't worry, it will get there
  24. Hey all, I didn't really anticipate the load the site would take very well and ran into some hosting issues today. I was already in the process of moving servers, so it's okay. The new server is up and running and some people are already being directed to the new server. If you continue to get an error page when you try to go to torparse.com, please be patient as it may take a day or so for all the DNS servers to point you to the right place. I'm now running the site on a dedicated server instead of shared hosting, so this problem will not happen again. TL;DR New server, DNS update may take a day or so, keep trying! Thank you!
