  1. Good stuff! Five Stars. Some of the builds seem to be at least 7 months if not older, so they may or may not still be viable.
  2. My fiancee came back from a break as well. Her main got to 50 and she quit long before the Legacy/ Achievement thing was introduced and she has yet to get any of her unlocks for the chapters on her Sorc, even though she has now reached 55 and got that Achievement, which you think would retroactively add the others. She filed a report a few weeks back and still not word, just wanted to let you know that you're not alone in seeking an answer.
  3. Agreed. One of the biggest challenges for me coming to this game from City of Heroes was the people coming from other MMOs going on about the Trinity, which this game follows as well. Right after launch, and I do mean literally, like 3 hours after, myself and a guildie pugged with two other players. Being a Marauder, and a former Scrapper, I immediately jumped on the boss and another player goes LIVID. He began typing in all caps screaming that mDPS didn't attack bosses until after trash was down, ever. Ranted on for a good five minutes, I could imagine drools of bubbling pitch pouring from his mouth as he typed, it was that bad. I explained that the game I had just came from, that I spent 5 years playing, the entire point of mDPS was to take on the boss while the rest of the group took out the trash and he thought I was the biggest idiot ever because he had never heard of such and it violated the teaching of the Trinity with it's blasphemy. Personally, I love this game. But I came from a game where a group of defenders could take on raid level content and when everyone logged in you had a 5 count to respond... or else the mDPS was off and clearing the first floor. I really do miss that. No Trinity, none of the "I'm special because I can tank/ heal/ stab/ ride unicorns/ summon kittens" and you're not. Every class and every build variation of every class was viable and sometimes you'd see someone combine two powersets you'd never seen combined before and you would be floored at what they could pull off. Really, I think that's what this game needs, a major overhaul. Get rid of the Trinity mindset and make any group viable, with the right player behind the character, to do any level content. Just my two credits. [/soapbox] EDIT: Just to add, as long as you were in the mission, you got XP, if you were two feet from the mob or all the way back at the front door doing dancing, so anyone who was in but wasn't "ready" still got XP and drops.
  4. Quite correct, and because of the two target feature WAR had, it was the only MMO I could ever abide playing any type of healer in. Nothing like a DoK wailing away with twin swords and constantly healing themselves and people around them.
  5. Also, if you don't want a smartphone and don't want to buy the physical key fob and wait for it to get mailed to you, just get to social II and buy it from the Social Vendor on the promenade. IIRC, it's cheaper than the one from the Security Key vendor as well.
  6. Nope, Assassin is based on Maul, they even have an ability called Maul for that very reason. Sorcs: Palpatine Assassin: Maul Marauder: Ventriss Jugg: Vader Right around launch there was a list of all the character archetypes and who they were referenced from in the Lore, be it movies, novels, and games.
  7. You accumulate Legacy points by doing normal quests, killing mobs, getting your companions to 1000 affection and doing their quests, and finishing class stories. If you're really that interested in getting your Legacy capped, go into the game. Hit Y then select the lowest level starter planet on your list for your side (Republic or Empire) Track all the uncompleted stuff there. Go to that planet and start grinding that stuff out. When you finish it, go to the other one. Then your capital planet and so on and so forth. Soon you'll be getting not only regular XP but Legacy XP per kill and not just per completion. Or just wait and do that after you've gotten a character of every class to at least 50 because there will be less overall to do. But everything you complete on the list of Legacy per planet will add to your Legacy total.
  8. Need is an item you absolutely must have because it is for the character you are playing at that moment. Greed is for an item that you cannot use on your character but a companion or alt can use. Disassemble, which you will see much more as you level, pops up if someone in your group has the appropriate skill to break the item down into it's component parts. To pass on an item, simply hit the close window button on the little X in the corner. Some people, the same ones discussed in the above posts usually, will need on any and everything that drops. This is another thing that is wrong and they will go to that special place.
  9. Of course my statement was kind of tongue-in-cheek as it would require a GM to follow and observe each players actions the entire time they're online. I know sarcasm doesn't translate well through text, sorry. But for people who steal glowies or nodes on purpose while they see others engaged in combat around it, it gets fairly annoying. If you know the teachings of Shepard Book, there's a place reserved for people like that.
  10. Players have been asking for capital scale guild ships since pre-launch. They've also been asking for Togruta. We've gotten cats and a crazed chattering Ewok.
  11. I normally don't mind if someone jumps in and helps finish off a mob or two, but there are certain situations were it's unwarranted and rude. One of the big ones is the staged training droids mission on Tython. If you're new to the server, and on your second Jedi and you need 15 for your legacy, it's upsetting to only end up with 14 because someone jumped in. I usually save that mission till just before I leave Tython anyway and do them all at once. I was on Mark V, all the training grounds except the one closest to the hill coming from the Gnarls was full. I activated it, and just before the Mark V jumped at me, some level 3 JK rushes up, attacks it, and gets stomped. Respawns and gets mad at me for not warning him. As was said above, stealing glowies while someone else is engaged in combat is one the biggest no-no's you can do and should be an instantly bannable offense. Most of the crap in security chests is just that, crap, but when it's an item you need to finish a bonus quest turn-in and it has a long respawn timer, then it's annoying. If I'm on a character who can throw a heal and I see someone is having a hard time, I'll toss some heals their way, or was said above, tank the mobs, and I always buff friendly players but after a while you can start to tell who are the new players who need help and who are vets and fine. In general, the new players will be fighting a typical group of 3 mobs with no buffs, get picked up by a wandering mob, freak out and take off running while being shot at and probably need help. The veteran players will be buffed, stimmed and calmly tear through their groups and deal with the adds.
  12. Oh thank you! I will take your complete unsolicited advice and play the game you want me to play, rather than the game I've been subbing to for 2 years. I will be expecting your credit card info in a PM so you can pay for my sub since I am supposed to play the game you want me to play, rather than the game I want to play.
  13. Hey and welcome! Is this your first MMO as well? If it isn't, what do you feel more comfortable playing in an MMO or even in a single player rpg? Myself, personally, I prefer Marauder because I prefer to remove a threat before it can hurt me or my friends aka the death is the ultimate debuff school of thought, but there are advantages to the go ahead, hit me, I can take it school of thought as well. It all comes down to personal choice on your part.
