  1. Best summary I can make, Cybertech makes DPS and Healing mods and armoring. It can make Might and Resolve type gear as well as Skill and Reflex. As well as earpieces, ship components, grenades, speeders, and droid parts. It's basically for every class.
  2. Generally, I will mention it to people if they are standing in easily avoidable attacks that are taxing me. Once the person responded that they were just being lazy and I seemed to be able to handle the heals. I really didn't know how to take that. It's like "Okay, you had confidence in my abilities. Thanks!" But at the same time, "You knew about that, and that you were taxing me unnecessarily, but you didn't avoid it because you didn't feel like it?" I find that most groups totally respect a healer's word for what went wrong when we wipe, too. Which is nice. After my first run on Mandalorian Raiders, we wiped on the final boss. No one understood until I explained that they didn't kill the turrets which were hitting us from the other side of the map. Which were all attacking me before long and I wasn't able to heal myself and the group for various reasons (including my heals taking nearly twice as long to execute). And when the boss had run ahead, the tank stayed on him, and at least one DPS stayed to kill the leftover turrets. I stood between both groups (moving as needed) to keep everyone healthy. However, I won't not heal a person. I view their deaths as my failures. If people start LOSing me or standing in easily avoidable attacks I will advise them about this. In Athis, I saw a Sniper just staying in cover during the fireball stage of the fight and quickly said in chat "Move". They started moving just in time to avoid the damage. If he had taken the hit, I still would have healed him. Losing our damage dealers would risk losing the fight. On the other hand, the best rule of thumb is, don't be a dick. If you're a dick, I might be less willing to heal you than the other members. Lowest Hp? Yeah, but this guy doesn't insult everyone. He gets heals first. I don't care if you're the "best" one here.
  3. My God. I think I love you. That or you are me from an alternate reality. I say this same thing all the time. I've complained in my Guild vent about getting gang banged in pvp and how no one ever protects me. For those who don't understand, allow me to illustrate. No one protects me as I heal, I die fast as 3 or more people start beating and interrupting me. If I survive 15 seconds of this, I'd be surprised. I die. You die. We lose. The other day I played Voidstar with my guild and my friend rolled a Jugg tank and kept me guarded the whole time. He and I finished the game (which we won) with zero deaths. Before it was over, he was announced as immortal. I finished with about 80K DPS 27 Kills and 180K heals to boot. Are you seeing a difference?
  4. Smugglers, Imperial Agents, and Troopers all use the same system. More or less. You just have to keep your heat below 40%. Its not that hard. Anytime I see my Heat hit 50% I spam my basic attack for a bit. As a healer, going over 40-50% is a death sentence. If I still need to hit stronger heals, using Super Charged Gas heaps as it buffs my heals, and instantly vents 16 heat. Anytime my heat hits 80-90% I hit Vent Heat and usually Super Charged Gas to boot.
  5. I've been going neutral. Sure, at this point, there isn't any neutral gear, but I'm sure later patches and expansions will fix that. It'd be easy, too. Just require a certain number of LS/DS points to use a neutral item. Want to use this one? 500 LS and 500 DS minimum required. This one? 2000 LS and 2000 DS. So on and so forth. I've been switching my companion out a lot. Just got Blizz recently. So far Mako is around 6000 affection, Gualt is about 2000, Torian is at about 4000, and Blizz is just under 1000. Keeping in mind which companion I have and what they like allows me to choose options they approve of for affection while gaining LS/DS points to stay neutral. Plus it boosts my affection improving my crafting. Still I try to maintain my character's personality. I'm no murderer. No mad man. I don't needlessly kill those who happen to be there. I won't betray my employer. Though, I might take an additional contract if it doesn't actually contradict my current one. My employer has bought my loyalty, so as long as they provide the credits, I'll do their work. Once our contract is fulfilled, all bets are off. Though I am not without sympathy to fellow warriors either. I can treat them with respect and dignity. My character is a complex one. Working for credits, but with a sense of duty and loyalty as well as friendship towards my comrades.
  6. Well you still need Aim, so I wouldn't completely dismiss it. However, picking up Endurance is a must. But you should also work on getting Defense, Shield Rating, and Absorption Rating gear. This will improve your survivability on the whole.
  7. Well you're right. I don't think you deserve respect. But that was a direct result of your comments and nothing else. As I read your initial comment, it came across as condescending, insulting, and a direct attempt to undermine everything I said. Why would I show respect to someone that didn't show me any? If you answered that I wouldn't, you'd be right. That's how I am. If your initial interaction with me is full of disrespect, you should expect none in return. This is correct, but I am trying to point out that I didn't go in without any knowledge. I'd also like to point out that at no time did I represent myself as having full knowledge of any class. I made clear that this is my impression from my limited experience. Nothing more, nothing less. Admittedly, this is true. I never implied that I know everything. I'm not you, after all. You act like there has never been a patch in the history of online gaming. Tomorrow there could be a huge patch that will change everything you "know" about healing. Tomorrow the best healers in the game could be Operatives and Scoundrels. All according to math to boot. I'm pretty close. I might hit 50 this weekend. We'll see how far behind I am. Also, I just ran through the Colicoid War Flashpoint (level 45) with some guild mates (they were both 50, but the enemies could actually hurt them in this one) and despite being 2 levels lower than the Flashpoint, I healed them through the whole thing easily. Afterwards, we were talking about doing Operations and Hardmodes in vent and they seemed confident that with me and another healer in the Guild, we'd be just fine running them. Yes, they were pretty high with good gear, but honestly, I wasn't even making a concentrated effort. In that case, we could do that for any class. What role could a Juggernaut/Guardian fill that a Powertech/Vanguard couldn't do better? What role could an Assassin/Shadow fill that an Operative/Scoundrel couldn't do better? Here's an idea. Let people play their game. As far as PvP goes, I will admit that I will often see a Sorcerer/Sage with as much healing as I have (maybe more maybe less) and easily twice my damage, too. That is kinda depressing, but I wouldn't say that it's a fault of the class. I'm doing great heals in PvP. I've kept people alive through heavy hits. Are Sorcerers/Sages better? Perhaps. But I'm not one to blame or credit the class. When I see a person with 100K+ DPS and 150K+ heals, my response is "That guy did great" not "That Sorcerer is OP and needs a nerf." Odds are we won't agree. You made up your mind about what is best, and I refuse to dismiss people based on class.
  8. With all due respect, you're wrong. First, I looked ahead on the Sage/Sorcerer talents and have used a talent Calculator to get an idea of how I would spec it. I know I simplified it, but I also simplified Mercenary healing. I wasn't trying to give the guy an in depth view of healing. And I loved my Sage. I had next to no problem healing even as a 19. It was probably easier healing as a Sage a 19 than as a Mercenary at any level. I'm contemplating rolling a Sorcerer healer for my guild on top of my Mercenary healer! If I went into more detail about the Mercenary, that's because I have played it more and, this may surprise you, have more experience with it. I know, it's shocking. Second, I'm fully aware of the various abilities that Sage's/Sorcerer's have to maintain their Force pool. I'm also aware of the abilities that Mercenaries have. Between them, I like the Mercenary abilities better as they don't require me to sacrifice my HP and regeneration rate for them. Doesn't make either class better. I went into detail about the regeneration rate, because it is very important for any Bounty Hunter/Trooper/Smuggler/Imperial Agent to know, no matter what spec they are playing. I also did mention that Sages have plenty of good direct heals with additional healing over time. How would I know that? Looking ahead. I'm no fool. I didn't even bring up the minor Healing over time effect or armor boost that is associated with Healing Scan through high level talents. Nor did I bring up the similar talents under Sage. Third, at no point did I suggest that Mercenary was better than Sage/Sorcerer. I merely said that I like it. But I like Sage, too! I even told him to play the class that he wanted. If I came off suggesting that Mercenary was a good class to heal as, that's because I know everyone is going to tell him that Sage's and Sorcerers are the best thing since slicing a high level computer terminal for lockboxes. I just don't think Sage's are better than Mercenaries. Nor do I think Mercenaries are better than Sages. I won't even tell you that Operatives or Scoundrels are bad. In PVP, a Sorcerer might do better than me, but I don't care. We're all trying to accomplish the same goal in the end. Nor will I be far behind him in heals. And all of the healing classes are viable as healers. No matter what you or anyone else thinks. Every healing class brings something different. Taking advantage of what you have is what makes the difference. I'm sorry if I offended your concept of min/maxing, but that's your problem not mine.
  9. One of Bioware's stated goals is to make each class viable in each spec. If your class can tank, it is supposed to be a viable tank. If your class is a healer, it is supposed to be a viable healer. If your class is a DPS, is supposed to do viable damage. Supposedly, the difference in DPS shouldn't be more than 5%. I'm taking Bioware at their word and honestly, I think they are doing a pretty good job on that. Looking at the Jugg Vengeance tree, there is a lot to like about it. 12% damage increase, 2 minor and 1 major bleed, free Smash (which is also 30% stronger with a 12 Second CD), among a few other nice abilities. And they are doing minor adjustments to maintain this. That being said, I wouldn't try to tank in a DPS spec. Nor would I expect strong damage from a tank/healing spec. Especially not at 50! Maybe at the lower levels, when all classes are pretty much the same still, but once you start getting into your second and third tier of talents, I'd just start going for what your spec is supposed to be. As for the people who supposedly know how much damage classes are doing, I ask how? As far as I know there is no form of Recount in the game. And using the results at the end of PVP isn't very wise as any number of factors can change the outcome of a person's damage. Constantly being attacked and killed without anyone protecting them so they spend time respawning and running to the fight. Guarding a position that isn't being attacked. Skill. Skill comes into play even in PVE, though.
  10. I'm not reading through all the pages as I have to leave for work, soon. But I know the fight you are on. It really sucks that your companion can't help in this fight. But it is challenging. My recommendation is to focus on one target at a time. The apprentice is probably a little weaker and start with your Saber Ward to reduce the dame you take. If you can get a strong medpack, that would help, too. If you can kill one, dieing isn't such a big deal as he doesn't revive after that. So just focus on killing one, then the other.
  11. Well, I have played as both a Jedi Consular Sage healer up to level 19 and as a Bounty Hunter Mercenary Healer up to about 41. I haven't played a a Scoundrel/Operative Healer. I might do that at some point, but I don't know. However, I feel like I have a decent understanding of those two classes from my experience playing as/with them and looking over the talent trees. So, here's my two cents. The Sage or Sorcerer Healer is pretty strong. They play similar to Priests in WoW. They have a variety of heals and many of them do direct healing with extra Healing over time (and are apparently instant cast). They also get a Shielding ability. Unfortunately, they don't get but one AOE heal and that is through talents points as your 31 point ability. Though it does seem to be very strong, not only healing directly, but also healing for a bit more over several seconds. Mercenary and Commando healers are a bit different. Unlike Sage's and Sorcerer's who get massive increases in their Force Pool, they don't get any more Heat sinks or Ammo clips. They also have far fewer actual heals. My Mercenary only has 4 activated heals compared to a Sorcerer's or Sage's 5. What it does have is an earlier AOE heal that is instant, cheap, and increases heals on those targets by 5% for 15 seconds, though it is pretty weak. The ability to heal with their basic free attack (not very strong, but it is nice). A Kolto Shell that heals the target whenever they are attacked (like Earth Shield and the effect only kicks in every 3 seconds). An activated ability that increases all heals by 10% for 10 seconds while granting strong boosts to other heals (the AOE grants 10% armor for 15% seconds and the heal with a Cooldown has none). And a completely free instant heal with a 21 second Cooldown. Their casts are generally quicker, too. It's worth noting that on Troopers or Bounty Hunters allowing you resource to dip below 60% or above 40% (depending on class) drastically reduces you replenishment or venting. Once you hit 80-90% you might as well give it a rest as your resource dips to pathetic levels of replenishment. As an example, Bounty Hunters start off with zero "Heat". Activating abilities increases this value, which maxes out at 100. Below 40% your Heat vents 5 Heat per second. Between 40% and I think 80& you vent 3 per second. Above 80% it drops to 1 Heat per second. Considering that most abilities generate 16-25 Heat, letting your Heat get too high can be deadly. For you. I could be wrong about when it dips to the really low level or replenishment, but this seems pretty accurate. Next to your resource bar, there should be four yellow arrows. Hovering your mouse cursor over it, will show you how efficient your replenishment is. This also applies to Smugglers and Imperial Agents. Between the two, the Sage/Sorcerer can probably keep casting longer, than a Mercenary or Commando, but once they run low on Force, you'll find them with fewer options. I once healed a group as a Mercenary for a solid five minutes with no real problems with my resources. Honestly, most people will tell you that Sage's and Sorcerer's are the strongest healers, and while they are not necessarily wrong, all healing classes are capable. Play what you want to try out.
  12. Personally, I love Mako. It's just too bad she is a healer. My Merc is a healer spec. Two healers can't quite do the damage I need. We're fine most of the time, but the lack of focused threat and Mako's tendency to heal (even in DPS mode) makes things a little harder than they should be when we're fighting large groups including some "Strong" enemies. I can't wait to get another companion. Especially a tank. Then I'll be set. Still love Mako, though.
  13. Honestly, Juggernaut will have trouble in the early levels. Things start getting better with Soresu form and as you gain more and more abilities and talents as well. At that point, you need to mark targets. Make sure everyone is targeting the same enemy. Not only will it be easier for you to tank, but it will kill them faster making things easier on the healer, too. Trust me I have a healer spec Merc and a tank spec Jugg and targeting enemies and killing them fast will make a huge difference. For the most part, you just need to give it time. Gaining skills like Taunt, Guard, and Threatening Scream will work out in your favor. And I can't praise how well the talents work together enough. Lash Out, Guard Stance, Blade Barricade, Shield Specialization, Revenge, and Sonic Barrier. Those are perfect together. It literally turns defense into offense and back to defense.
  14. Having learned that you can't romance Light Side Jaesa, I am reluctant to continue my class quest. I don't know if I want to make her Dark Side just to romance her, or take the chance that Bioware will change this in a later patch. Part of the thing is that I haven't made even one Dark Side option on my Warrior. Am I willing to forever see the 100 or so Dark Side points forever on my character info and know that I chose to make her a Sith? Probably. Still kinda lame.
  15. I've noticed it bugging out and not going on Cool-down. But I never really notice if it doesn't do damage as it always seems to happen when I'm fighting multiple enemies and trying to make sure I have aggro on all of them. But I don't think it does. Honestly, I hardly even look at my own damage from one attack to the next. I probably should, but as a tank I never worry about damage as much as threat. I've gone so far as to filter out damage done in other games. I think I've had similar occurrences with Force Choke. I've noticed the enemy not being stopped by it, not taking damage, the Cool-down not going into effect, but the channel still occurring. Both are rare and I've never died from it. At least, not in PvE.
