  1. Hi everyone,

I've spoken to the design team about the issue of Grade 7 ship upgrades and the cost in game (resources and time) versus the cost on the Cartel Market, since this concern was raised by a number of people on our forums.

Our Lead Designer for the game, Damion Schubert, has this to say:

Unfortunately, there is, in fact, a great disparity between these two costs. We want to apologize for this, as there was a miscommunication internally on how valuable these upgrades were, how challenging they should be to earn, and how fast a player should be able to earn them.

We are currently looking at solutions that cause the least amount of frustration for all players affected, while keeping the integrity of both the Cartel Market and the game intact.

It is not our intent to make the Cartel Market the “way to play" the game—we want you to feel that both the Cartel Market and earning gear in game are viable options as far as value goes, neither being far more efficient or effective than the other.

We truly hope you enjoy the challenge of the new Heroic Space Missions and apologize again for what we hope is a small distraction.

I want to reiterate that we are actively looking at solutions and they will be communicated to you as soon as we have a solid plan.

    Thank you for your patience.

Now the real question is why are they even obtainable in the cash shop in the first place ?

No purple items should be there. Period.

  2. Just what I've noticed lately...

    - Companions still skewer themselves when they sheath their sabers anytime they're summoned if you have their stance turned on.

    - Taxi's still disappear.

    - Companion Unify is totally borked and PC unify is acting weird as well.

    - Ability delay is back with a vengeance. It some times takes hitting hotkeys two or three times to make them fire.

    - Companion preview window is still messed up, half the time only showing a pair of dismembered feet floating in the air.

    - When summoning a new companion, the sound bite from the previous companion gets cut short (Corso says "Fine, I needed some shut eye", but the sound bite says "fi....", etc)

    Seriously Bioware.....

I can confirm that those bugs do exist. And what is even more disturbing - they pretty much exist since launch (or introduction of the feature).

  3. Since the game is now being targeted mostly to casual f2p people (who'd prefer to buy a gaming experience with cartel coins) with pvp and pve armor that was once earned being given away freely and sets prior being made useless thereby devaluing the actual player base who have played the game since launch....you know, those of us who play and value a challenge in a game, I have a suggestion

There is no challenge to be found in PvE. It is only a time sink, nothing else. And a boring one at that.

  4. First major patch since F2P, and we will see how good can Bioware do in 6 weeks since they said major patch every 6 weeks. I really hope the tragedy of 1.4 will never, ever happen again. Not saying the patch changes are horrible but the bugs it brought us.

There is still no fix for AMD Crossfire support. I can't comprehend how is that even possible.

  5. It was announced a good few months ago that Cathar will become a playable species.

    What ever happened to that?

This is very simply. The same thing happened to Ancient Hypergates. All that stuff is probably ready, but it's being put on the backburner, so they can include them in 1.7 and call it "new content".

  6. I run s Dual core processor and Radeon 5770 HD and 6 GB of ram, a bit sub par from other machines and i run swtor on high at 60fps on every planet and every time.

Please post a video of you doing a warzone, at high details, with framerate counter on (CTRL + SHIFT + F). Otherwise I call your statement a lie.

  7. You won't miss them and your game will run smoother, it's not a losing situation.

Of course it's a loose situtation. Turning off shadows makes this rather mediocre looking game look even worse.

Also @ OP: It's not a shadow problem. It's Crossfire problem. Turn off Crossfire in CCC. Make a custom profile for SWTOR. You will loose some FPS but the stuttering should stop or occur much less at worst case scenario.

It's an issue introduced by Bioware in patch 1.4 that has still not been fixed to this day.

  8. 6870 will run your game at 60 fps

    No it won't.

It will run his game at a range of about 15-100 fps, LARGELY depending on his CPU and what he is doing in game.

    I'm talking high details, with 2x AA and 16x AAF @ 1920 x 1080.

Most warzones he will average around ~25-30 ish. Questing will be around 35-50ish. Closed areas ~60+.

I have two 6870's running in Crossfire, which I had to turn off, due to Bioware's shoddy coding and those are the numbers I'm getting with X6 @4ghz.

  9. SWTOR failed? lol

Confirming that going F2P less than a year from launch is a clear sign of enormous success and things going way as planned.

    This game can't handle 10v10?

    No it can't.

Yes it can and here to prove it.

    Good old time in Illum

What kind of proof is that ?

    a) Video is sped up (seems like 3x the normal speed) so you can't see how miserable the framerate really is

    b) The shadows are turned off (lol)

    c) Seems like it's some kind of low resolution

  10. My impressions from the forums... are that most people are Sith.

Sith are pompous and boring as hell. Really, really, boring.

    I'm a chilled, laid-back, sarcastic Republic smuggler. :D

Gunslinger > Sniper. 30 meters isn't really "sniping", so running with 2 blasters really seems way more fun than running with a sniper rifle.

  11. This game suffers horribly from lack of tanks. Please please do something to give more incentive for people to play tanks. The spec sucks in pvp, there needs to be some serious attention given to this problem, its to the point its an epidemic problem in nearly every MMO.

Tanks are for PvE. Like you said, It has always been like this in most MMOs so not much is going to change in SWTOR I guess.

  12. Bioware is bleeding Devs and programmers and Gabe Amatangelo IS STILL HERE?!! Why did all the good Devs leave and Gabe, one of the minds behind the failure that was WAR, still here? Epicly disappointed sigh.

WAR failed for the same reason that SWTOR failed. Horrible game engine, unable to handle any mass (like 10 vs 10, lol) PvP at playable framerates.

The ideas were good, and the scenarios (WAR's warzones) were very fun.

Wouldn't blame Gabe for WAR's failure. I blame engineers.

    Same applies to SWTOR.

  13. Hey everyone; I asked Lead Designer Damion Schubert for an update on neutral gear. He let me know that the implementation of this feature isn't planned for the immediate future, but that it's still something we want to do. When we do add it, you can expect a variety of gear for neutral-aligned players.

That's Bioware's way of saying "it's not coming ever". That feature was promised somewhere around February if I'm not mistaken. It's in the chat bubbles league.

Makeb was promised by the end of the year. Never going to happen.

Bioware should not really post anything on the forums, since pretty much they can't fulfill like 80% of their promises.

How's that Season One of Ranked Warzones doing ? 9 months is not nearly enough time to implement them right ?
