  1. I'll split up the world boss into different sections. Some are self buffed, other results are full buffed. I'll have at least 3 more results by this weekend to add. I made some changes for my Jedi Guardian and got some more gear so back to testing. I did find similar results from sithwarrior (who are the kings of testing) for their jugg parses, so I may add those.
  2. For those dps Juggs in Veng spec. Do you guys use Retaliation as part of your rotation? I checked out the sithwarrior guide but there was no mention of it. It's off GCD, does decent damage (?), and a good rage dump? Or do you guys not even bother with it?
  3. Just got Dorne and man she rocks! Theres now no slowing down between pulls unless I'm low on ammo. For regular groups, I can fight them continueously. I think only elites make me slow down to replenish ammo. Soloed some Heroic 2+'s on Nar Shadaa without issues with Dorne and finally my CC ability. I haven't felt this OP since my hybrid sorc got his healing companion. It's just non stop killing blowing through mobs like tissue paper.
  4. I think the 2 main tools people want to see in this game are the following: Dps folks want a damage meter Healers and tanks wants a target of target window Granted if I had one option available I would rather have the target of target even though I'm mainly dps on my toons. But the meters would help folks tweak their build etc. It's already in the game already, just look at the WZ summary at the end. Why not have a small floating box next to you that shows the same during a boss fight? About the 100 damage difference, no one notices that. They notice if one dps is doing half of someone else's. I for one would welcome that, even if that person is me. It tells me that I either need a lot more gear, am doing something wrong, or really have no idea how to play my class. In the event it is my class that's the reason, well we can then make choices based on that.
  5. There are definately a bas side to dps meters, which you have covered. Meter padding, people posting to post, and or raids that determine who to kick are plausible reasons why bringing meters into the game may suck. You'll probably have the endless QQ about this class performing more dps for this fight vs other fights in the game. I believe the main reason they launched without these damage combat logs was to prevent something like the meters. By say what you will, they do have some very good uses. I myself prefer to use a meter for a class I just rolled to 50 to get an understanding if I'm doing it right. The limited parsing I did on my SI Sorc vs my Jedi Guardian was enough for me to warrent taking another long hard look at my Guardian to see if I was doing anything wrong. In the context of an Ops group, sometimes it's that meter that will show you who's semi-afk during a fight. The end result is to get the ops boss down to 0%, but if you enrage and wipe at 5% to 10% it's handy to see who's at the bottom of the meter and why. I'd surely and gladly step out if I was pulling the Ops group down and they can go ahead and pull in a ranged dps and finally down the encounter. It's like most tools in life. They way you use it dictates how good or bad that tool turns out. It's all upon the player to decide that.
  6. The 2 main mobile ranged dps classes are the Sage/Sorc and Merc/Commando. Snipers that are good are able to move quickly and adapt. But I don't possess those skills (or patience) so I rolled a Sorc. My buddy plays a Merc and loves it. I'm leveling up a Commando Trooper atm and its pretty quick.
  7. I dont think it was until a few patches into Vanilla that the damage meter mods starting to come out. Officially WoW has NEVER had a damage meter, but other players and people have developed a modification or addon to show you the dps meters. Since SWtoR is brand spanking new, give em some time and we'll probably see some sort of dps meter in a few months.
  8. Woot, thanks! Keep em coming folks. I should have an update by this weekend for my 50's.
  9. Yeah we are playing a different game all together. My wife and our guild are all willing and able to run alts thru stuff. So all the FPs and Heroics are gathered up and run thru by myself (perhaps another alt) and a level 50. Trying to solo Heroic 2+'s on a planet by yourself without help is a waste of time imo. It takes too long to kill stuff and the rewards aren't justified, plus we don't even get our CC until level 22. You can say the same about all the quests, but if you can't solo normal planet quests or class quests, that's an issue all on its own. So my focus as a Trooper is planet and class quests. These consist of mainly groups of mobs, which the trooper excels at. It took a while before my other classes got even some sort of aoe ability, and troopers have 3-4 by the time they are 20 which is amazing. So planet and class quests are steamrolled through atm. Plus I got the FPs gear from Hammer Station and Athiss. I can't wear the level 21 set until next level but once I put it on, I'm fighting effectively as a level 25ish toon. That and my companion has the matching set so we are a force to be reackoned with. When I get into the 30's and 40's and it starts to slow down I'll post back here. So far it's smooth sailing. Im debating on if I really need a healer pet at all vs Jorgan and I blowing stuff up together. Granted his reaction time is a tad slow, but I keybinded his quick shot ability to get him in combat faster.
  10. I got to Voss around mid 42 or very early 43. I'm now 45 and on the last part of the planet, the dark area. Had zero issues soloing anything there (minus the Heroic 4+'s). I'm in standard Orange mods updated from each planet and using Doc. Vig spec all the way, with zero issues so far.
  11. Since you're from WoW I'll use some wow lingo. The gear ilvl you get from the pvp champ gear is higher than the T1 tanking gear you generally collect as you gear up. Plus it's infinately easier and faster to gear up this way. The goal is eventually Columi (T2), but you can use the PvP equiv of T2 as soon as you get it. The stat allocation is more than enough for HM FPs and Normal Ops. Now once you start doing HM Ops you will want a full set of Columi. By then you should have a full set already farming EV/KP ops for a bit. Gearing in this game is really easy now. It's almost as easy as the time around the very last patch of WotLK. Epics rain down and all you have to do is look up.
  12. To the OP. You post a spec and ask for feedback. When people comment and provide feedback, you don't like it. What more can we say? You've got the basic skeletal spec sort of correct, but you are missing some key Talents. Check out Narrowed Focus, Insight, and finish out Swelling Winds. As a dps spec, the Mauraders are what you are after, the ones with the higher health. If you can finish off the highest health mobs the fastest, then you can brag. Killing the lower health mobs first means nothing. Ok so you are an OT/DPS. You can still do it in a proper Vig spec. You can tank HM FPs in a 31 Vig spec no problem. You can OT what little needs to be OT'ed in Ops with no problem as well. EV you don't really even need an OT. I think the only thing you might have to do is taunt Soa if your MT is mind trapped. For KP the only fight really is the 2nd one. Sorno doesn't hit that hard if you interrupt his auto ability. And if you really need to swap tanks for the puzzle fight, you really only need to aggro the boss for a few seconds. Basically what people are saying is that there is no reason to ever need to use the spec you are using. It just doesn't make any sense.
  13. Got to 20 and finally got Gav round, nice ability. I'm close to getting the healer companion on Taris so we'll see how she plays out. Full sets of Trooper gear (along with guns) from multiple Hammer Station / Athiss runs thanks to some guildies. So far it's a lot of fun blowing stuff up. I'm frankly surprised by the sheer amount of aoe's commando's get. That and I can take on champions like a . . . champ with Jorgan.
  14. Whoa this thread blew up fast. Ok I 'm primarily concerned with PvE damage, and more importantly Ops raid boss damage. There's a time and place for pvp, HM FPs, and even Trash on Ops fights but this thread is primarily concerned with boss fights in Ops modes. If there's any advice to be given, please focus on the 5 bosses in EV or the 5 5 bosses in KP. Thanks. I would say Master Strike is pretty useful mainly due to the fact that it costs no focus. Again I said I mianly use it when everything is on CD first. It's a free hit, and you can always cancel it after the 2nd hit. For Guardians, we hit twice with it, then there's the long wind for the hit-em-out-of-the-ballpark swing. You can move and cancel that last hit effectively reducing the cast ability by half or more. Again, free damage is always nice esp if everything's on CD. I do think the idea about guardian leaping out and charging back in might have a place. Think HM 2nd boss in EV (Rancor guy, forgot his name) where melee generally should avoid the leaps. Well 40% damage reduction is always a bonus for standing in there to continue to dps. Sithwarrior usually has everything down right correct, but in their build I still don't understand taking Extra Slash crit. I rarely if ever have the time to even use normal Slash. Even in their discussion post they make no mention of using it as a rage/focus dump so why even put puts in there? All the discussions about force push, or being useful for pvp, or defensive stuff is nice but generally doesn't apply to boss fights. Bosses are immune to stuns, can't be moved, etc so you rarely even bother trying to use any of those abilities. OT discussions aside, I would like to try to keep this thread about purely dps and not bring the OT option into this. It's tues so hopefully I'll reconfigure some stuff and try again this week. If any Guardians out there can time their EV fights in Normal or HM and post the time it took (and your ilvl) that would help me a lot. Thanks.
  15. Absoultely right. This is just a collection of data points for my sake. I'm not like the sithwarrior site, this is just to get a glimpse if I perhaps did something wrong on my Guardian to warrent those numbers or if other Juggs/Guardians are pulling much better numbers. Since my SI Sorc numbers seem to align with the previous world boss fights, it seems to be ok and valid for that scenario. What I hope to get is an idea of OTHER classes that haven't made the list yet. I understand the entire system maybe flawed and there' no way to prove the results, but I'm hoping people provide some feedback to help this list start to get populated. All it takes is a stopwatch and even if you just post how many seconds it took you to down your boss, your class, and avg Item Level (ilvl) that would help tremendously. Everything resets today so hopefully if you do run EV, take the extra 30 seconds to whip out your stopwatch on your phone or use other methods (digital watch, or clock?). If we start seeing a trend, that's where the information will really become useful.
  16. Sorry I meant the ability itself (Riposte). Use on CD when its up or remove from your bar?
  17. Yeah I only use it mainly when all my main abilities are on CD. I often have to cancel it due to boss mechanics and you definately can't use it on the move. For more stactic fights though it's not too bad. What's your understanding about Protector applying the threat reduction to you as well as your target? Any verdict on Riposte? I'll try the build you linked. It was pretty close to my modified one on my new Jugg.
  18. This maybe the last update (3/18/2012) to this thread. I'm not digging the 1.2 patch notes. 19. I think the only way to get an accurate account of how much damage each class does is to start parsing the information in one location. So this is where you can chime in with some helpful information. There has been 2 methods so far that I've read on how to do that: 1) EV Council fight - Total health of mob divided by time it takes to kill him gives you a somewhat accurate dps count. It's a basic 1v1 fight though, so no buffs/debuffs from other classes. I think Agents/Smuggs get the shaft on this one as well. 2) World boss parsing - Kill a lower level world boss and either calculate how much damage you did within a set time (like 5 mins) and calculating the dps from there. I'll offer 2 examples, one in which I parse this weekend on my 2 level 50's. My SI Sorc is in full Columi with 1 Rakata piece My Jedi Guardian is in a mix of gear, minimal of 126 Tionese gear and mostly Columi or Champ gear. Champ MH and Columi OH. I might be doing something wrong so I'm going to respec and try again this week. This parse is for the world boss from this post: So these are two examples for parses that I either did or came across. If anyone can provide more data we can compile it into a master list of some sort perhaps. So for those folks who run EV HM or Nomal this weekend, take 30 seconds out of your time and bring up the stopwatch feature on your smart phones and time the time it takes to down your mob. Thanks.
  20. I have 2 level 50's. An SI Sorc in full Columi (one Rakata) and a Jedi Guardian in a mix of gear, all above 126. Mostly Columi equiv but I believe 2 pieces tank versions, Champ HM & Columi OH on Guardian. I ran HM and Normal EV this weekend and parsed my dps on the Council fight. Total Mob health / time it took me to kill it (used stopwatch) = Damage per second (dps). Here are the results: Jedi Guardian - Normal EV - 1030 dps Jedi Guardian - HM EV - 1070 dps SI Sorc - HM EV - 1730 dps Clearly my Sorc is doing more damage. But I might be missing something, so I'm going to change things around on my Guardian and try again this week. Got Rakata Legs and more Columi this time around. From another post our dps should look like the following: My SI Sorc seems pretty accurate vs the world boss parse, but my Guardian's off. My 2 creds.
  21. Forgot to ask about Riposte. I still use it even though that sithwarrior post has no mention about it. It's off GCD and it's relatively low focus with low CD and decent damage. So why not use it right? Another thing someone mentioned (who ran NMM Ops) was timing your Blade Storm correctly to align with Force Rush talent. But maybe I misunderstood them.
  22. Thanks for the advice Marghill, I really appreciate it. For some reason I can't open or display the spec you linked properly, I'll check it after work. Now I would agree with your main points, except for accuracy. The other points you bring up are mainly with PvP in mind, so I don't quite understand how it would boost my dps in a PvE environment. Master Strike - as you mentioned, I could probably free up points somewhere since I sort of use this ability when there's nothing off CD. Unremitting - your comments mainly deal with PvP. When I leap to a boss he rarely if ever knocks me back right away. Protector - Again, how would it help me PvE damage wise? Might be useful if it dumped your threat, but other threads say otherwise and my tanks have zero issues with my threat. (Probably because I'm not doing enough damage) Swift Slash - Agree, my Jugg I'm leveling now (lvl 45) doesn't have this talent. I rarely use this ability if at all for my rotation. Momentum - Sure could be useful. But it's more of a free cast every time I leap for 3 points. Now onto Accuracy. I'm at ~103% from my gear and I heard it's nice to at least get to 100%. I've also read from other threads/faqs that you could bump that up to 108% to knock defensive abilities off of boss hit tables. So some classes like BH/Troopers would want to hit 108% before. Since I'm still gearing up, that 3% seemed pretty useful. So if I were to respec, what should I take for PvE damage? The first 2 tiers of Defense and Focus don't offer much. I could pickup Defiance for more focus, and Gather Strength for extra damage with that talent instead. Was hoping for a more clear cut, you missed the 15% extra damage talent in the X tree. But looking at the tree, it looks like most of the PvE boss damage talents were taken. I'll respec for this week's run and try it again. I did get Rakata pieces and more Columi pieces from last week's run so it should help a little. But again, I'm open to any suggestions. Keep them coming!
  23. Is there a rundown somewhere on which pet does what? Edit: Checked the sticky. It was section 6, must have missed it earlier.
  24. Yeah unfortunately I don't have that patience. I'm assuming you're talking about Heroic 2+'s right? Those I save until I'm done with the planet and call in a level 50 to steam roll me through.
