  1. Cross Server LFG has been out for years, and they JUST last patch came out with cross server or lfg end game.

The person you are replying to is mostly correct, until LAST patch you could NOT LFG end game content in WoW. Or any raid for that matter.

And it's nerfed to the ground, and all of the difficult (or moderately challenging) mechanics are taken out.

Oh and BTW if you were wondering... it is a TOTAL mess. Constant rage quitting, QQing, Whining, NINJA ALL OVER THE PLACE, and a total lack of common gamer knowledge. LFR in WoW is a traumatic experience I still receive counseling for.

LFR was implemented so that baddies could play the end game content too, but the gear drops there made it a necessary stepping stone for progression raiders as well.

LFR was added to allow more people access to the end game raids. To see the content. It, of course, was immediately hijacked by raiders who were after fill-in pieces for gear. They started acting poorly (taking half their guild on LFR runs so they could make sure everyone got the gear they were after, rolling need for items to sell or just to spite those outside of their guild, etc). The playerbase followed suit.

The tool is just the means; blame the players for their douchenozzle attitudes, not the tool.

  2. Blizzard Dev's have stated that if they had the LFG to do over agian they wouldn't have done it cross server. They have had to put more time, money and resources into that one feature than anything else in that game. They have had to put all kinds of controls on it because of the cross server idiots who ruin other peoples play, or kick someone for stupid reasons. They had to incent tanks and healers to even go into the queue because not enough of them were... Yeah it has worked real well for them all right..

Blizzard's developers have said no such thing. Their xserver tool is wildly popular among its playerbase. The only thing that I am aware of them stating they wish they hadn't added was arena.

If they thought xserver was such a bad idea, they wouldn't be expanding it in their next expansion. I will, however, accept proof via a link where Blizzard has explicitly stated their xserver tool was bad and should not have been implemented.

  3. THIS is the ONLY correct answer. Anything else by anyone else is just pure irrational Nerd Rage. A lot of people weren't able to get into FPs and Ops. Now they can so its going to be taking a step back for a little bit. But educate them nicely and you'll see the learning curve climb back up and then even have a greater pool of qualified people to draw from for harder FPs and Ops eventually.

As far as the ninjas go, put them on ignore. They don't get paired with you if on ignore, and that means enough people put these people on ignore and they will not be able to find a group.

As an addendum, I'd like to warn people to make sure someone is actually a ninja before you brand them as a ninja. Someone winning a single roll over you does not make them a ninja. The word gets applied to liberally.

Not that it really matters anyway; no one cares much for someone else's blacklist. In my opinion, you are more likely to be ignored for trying to tell everyone about a ninja than the person you are claiming ninjaed your loot.

  4. WoW's cross server LFG started a trend of speed run / no consequence method of play. It's why they limit the loot options. I like that Bioware is trying to be different and sticking to the same server LFG. WoW's community changed when you couldn't find guild members in dungeons.

The thing about same server LFG is it will take time to build community and punish the ninja's. For instance, if you put a ninja on your ignore list you won't be grouped with them in the future. Eventually they will learn there are consequence as their rep makes it more difficult for them to get into a group. As you find nice players and add them to your friends list, you will be able to make groups on your own and it will help good players join up. Give it time.

Same server LFG is a tool that will help bring the community together and that has been a big thing missing from this game. Can it improve? Absolutely but I'm also sure the development team is going to tweak the system as issues/improvement become clear.

I had a comment on your "just blacklist the baddies and everything will be hunky dory" but I can only say "no one cares about your blacklist, and you are more likely to get added to someones ignore list for trying to tell everyone about ninjas than the ninjas are" so many times. So, I'll just not comment on it.

The cries about long queues will continue. Once cross server warzones are running smoothly, the tech will be added to the LFG tool. It is inevitable. What everyone should be fighting for is to ensure that a same server toggle is included in the cross server tool. That way, everyone gets what they want. If you don't fight for it now, you will be upset when the cross server tool is implemented and cross server is the only option there is.

  5. I apologize for not answering your question but people advocating for cross server are clueless. The problem would only get worse because theres still no tanks and youd only be adding DPS to queue making it longer.

Incorrect. Not sure why you think this; it would only be accurate if, by adding cross-server, only the numbers of DPS specced players increased while tank numbers remained the same. This is a ridiculous statement.

  6. Looking back on your posting history, you probably made the correct choice.

But making 7+ posts on the reason of why you unsubbed is a bit overkill, don't you think :) ?

Now, if we could get some actual constructive ideas on how to solve eventual problems, beyond x-server which will not happen, it would be great.

I have one! Hey, how about we start using the group finder, like all of us? That way there would be actual groups forming and stuff. To complain about times it takes to form a PUG and blame it on the finder, which depends entirely on players using it to do it's job, is just wrong.

(This post will probably gain me another warning from BW, but you know - the drop that makes the cup overflow and all that... I HAD to say something!)

When it does happen (and it will), what are you going to say then?

  7. The LFG have been out for a day, all the ninja looters and rude players who are landing on the ignore list of many will start to feel the impact in a couple of weeks. Besides there are already some excellent arguments in this thread that points out the flaw in thinking the cross server LFG will lessen the queue time.

No they won't. No one cares about your blacklist outside the small list of people you play with. Go spamming chat channels about ninja looters and what-not and guess who gets ignored (it isn't the ninja-looter, in case you can't figure it out).

Xserver is the next step. Argue all you want about whether or not it is needed; it will come. Everyone should be fighting to make sure that when it does come, the same server toggle is part of it. No reason to not have the best of both worlds.

  8. This is absolutely false, especially when it comes to how they tally subs in Asia. I always chuckle at that silly "12 million" figure people love to throw around, when about 9 million of those subs were under a completely different sub model. Please do some research into how people in China and the surrounding areas access and pay for their "subs".

The argument was whether or not they counted free trials. Not how they charge players in Asia (which is well known by just about everyone). They don't count free trials. Bioware will, most likely, not count them either.

  9. A much bigger problem (or distraction from a constructive discussion if you will) is those who scream that anything other than blind devotion to developers and the current state of the game is a "rant", or "vitriol". In all MMO forums I have participated in I have always found the "whiners about the whiners" much more of a distraction that the actual "whiners" themselves which usually at least have some valid criticism at the core of their posts.

Maybe. But the people that Galactic was referring to are not your average whiners. They post in every thread the same garbage, real or imagined (usually imagined, or at the very least, embellished beyond reality). So much so that their names become so synonymous with whining/mudslinging that few people can take them seriously anymore.

Not everyone who states a dislike of the game is a "hater". But not everyone who posts that they like the game is a "blind fanboi" either; these labels are thrown around way to nonchalantly.

  10. I noticed how those people thought the game would be pvp focused guess they were wrong lol

They usually are. If their subset of the community was as large as they think it was, there would be a plethora of successful PvP based MMOs on the market right now.

    There aren't, because they don't.

  11. Of course, 'vocal minority' is always code for 'everyone who disagrees with me'.

What I find amusing is how many good little citizens of the corporatocracy have sublimated any sort of consumer expectations or rights that should be relatively self-evident. If, tomorrow, a company started restricting their access to the air they breathe, they would gladly fight each other to be first in line to pay whatever asked for this new product and would defend to the death that company's right to charge for air and suffocate anyone who couldn't pay. Just like dogs begging for a treat.

So, what you are saying is you are one of those who thinks it is cool to "Rail Against THE MAN" for any reason, in a poor attempt to make you better than those who disagree?

I find the whole "stick it to the man" post as ignorant and self-serving as the "the company can do no wrong" posts, personally.

  12. They're just going to say "After we instituted the server transfer system, the amount of surpluss servers was completely unnecessary. Therefore we decided to remove some of them to give more power to the servers with the highest populations". Instead of saying "We merged the servers, but we didn't call it a server merge to avoid pissing off our investors and EA who has us grabbed by the balls so lolz cya l8r gaize".

Actually, they won't call it a server merge, because it won't be a server merge. Servers will most likely be closed. Transfers are not mergers. Closing servers is not merging them. You clearly do not understand what a merger is.

But, since nothing has been said what is going to be done about those dead servers, you know exactly as much as I do about the whole situation: Nothing.

  13. If you honestly believe that, you would be wrong as many of the guilds talk to each other and if your that bad a player or a ninja. It will get spread around and you will find it much harder to get a group.

You might not want to believe it but you'd be wrong in thinking it does not happen.

Allowing a few guilds at the top of the food chain to determine what content the rest of a server's playerbase gets to do is completely and totally ignorant on Bioware's part.

If you want to know the "community" that people are so scared of getting ruined by a cross server LFG, this is it. It removes the ability of players/guilds to control the rest of the playerbase. When Cross Server comes, and it will, this kind of ridiculous stuff will be over; it is the sole reason why some are so opposed to it, even though they would never admit it.

  14. If you cant find a group then I think its probably cuz you've been labeled as a baddie. I've got 3 50's and in the last week I've ran all the OPs on each of them SM&HM and more FP's than I care to remember

Such BS. Your blacklist (if you carry one) has no bearing on whether or not someone gets a group. It's one of those misconceptions people have about how much influence they exert over a server/players.

Call someone a ninja/bad, add them to your blacklist. Let everyone know about it. That person will still get groups, because no one cares about your blacklist.

  15. The part of the community that wanted to transfer to those overpopulated servers have already done so. The community has already been split. Anyone who still wants to transfer will be given plenty of notice before the current Destination servers are closed to transfers. Anyone who does not heed that notice can wait for paid transfers.

The rest of us don't want to transfer with our former communities. We would rather create new communities on servers with a lower population. I can't see BioWare denying players that opportunity.

    :csw_redsaber::csw_bluesaber:

They are NOT going to run dead servers for a handful of people. It is cost prohibitive to do so. Now, I don't know what they are going to do, but my money is on forcing transfers and closing the dead servers, and risk angering the few people left on these dead servers.

  16. Really. If you think the sub number is equal to or greater than 1.3 million RIGHT NOW, you are being willfully ignorant.

It is EXTREMELY apparent that the sub numbers have dropped since MARCH when that figure was calculated. You say you have seen guildies come back, well here, I'll give you my anecdotal evidence since thats all that you can provide.

In late march (AFTER that figure was calculated) my server saw peak times with as many as 200 or more people on the fleet, it was a very active server AT THE TIME THAT THE 1.3 MILLION FIGURE WAS CALCULATED. Now, taking into account that the 1,3 million figure was calculated in March, and my server has gone from having 200 people on the fleet down to having less than 50 at peak times, I'm going to go ahead and ASSUME with my anecdotal evidence that you cannot disprove, that the sub count since the 1.3 million figure was calculated has dropped off by *AT LEAST* 75%.

So there we go. You think that "47 people have returned since the transfers" and I think that 75% of players have left since March. I'm sure theres an even ground somewhere in between us that is more accurate, but since you insist on using absolutely terrible, unprovable math, so will I.

75%? I think you are calling the wrong person ignorant.

  17. Some servers will wind up completely "dead" when all is said and done. I am going to assume that these servers will eventually be closed down, at which time anyone still remaining will be given a free transfer off that will be mandatory and, after a grace period, will probably be moved by Bioware themselves if the player doesn't take the opportunity to move on their own.

That would be my guess (no where has this been said, I am just speculating). Don't hold out for a physical server merge, though, because I highly doubt that is going to ever take place.

  18. The length of this thread and others should be a strong indication to Bioware of where everyone's heads are at with this.

It's pretty obvious where most people's heads are at in this merger discussion. It is a very dark place, in case you are unable to get the reference.

There will be no mergers. So stop asking for them. Either transfer when it is available, or quit.

  19. and you sir just hit the nail on the head!!

People are not complaining because they are doing a very silly job with this character transfer. They are complaining because they are paying for a service which was promised on the box (this is very important as that can stand up in a court of law as a promise to the consumer) this service is being paid for but not delivered, and that is why people are angry. People want the transfers now because they are sick of being the only person stood on the fleet during the day, because they are sick of missing out on dungeons because there is not 4 people on a server. People are raging because they are not recieveing what they are paying for

You pay for access to Bioware's servers. Nothing else. Anything else they offer is a benefit of playing their game. It is NOT entitled to you because of your $15 per month.

And just for the record, most consumers are idiots. Just sayin.....

  20. could be every two weeks or every 2 months or yearly. They word it that way so that people will think its hourly or each day. Regularly just really means it will be done at the same intervals. They say change your oil regularly but that was every 3000m etc not every hour or every day.

Facts (actual ones, not the ones you create) are hard to swallow for you, I guess.

  21. So how is the SWTOR community going to deal with the inevitable whining when people have to wait to login after the game is updated to 1.3, and then again when it is updated to 1.4?

I'm very afraid the same people that complained during launch that led to this predicament the game is currently is facing is just going to show up again now that the server populations are getting consolidated.

People are going to complain regardless. Case in point: the current server transfer thread.

  22. In a previous Community Q&A we talked about character transfers, and announced that they were coming in early summer. Character transfers are a complex process, but we're almost ready to go. Starting next week on June 12th, 2012, we’re allowing character transfers to occur between selected servers in order to provide a better gameplay experience for our players by ensuring population balance across the service.

They are allowing character transfers. It doesnt say that they are allowing a few transfers to begin.

Also with the way they are doing it now it is not balancing the population. It is just letting fatman and JC get more people. Again no balance at all in what they have done.

When they say starting they are saying that you will be allowed to trasnfer longer than just that one day.

No where do that say that they will be doing initial transfers for servers in stages. They do say they have phases but thats to moniter the populations not as 1 server per type per phase.

In this very thread, the direct quote from Bioware is posted, stating it would be gradual. No, I'm not looking it up for you.

  23. I have explained it by using their own words to show they didnt.

For anyone to think they increased the server caps for this transfer is just making things up.

Everyone around here, including you, are making things up. The fact that you think you know better than the people who run this game is laughable.
