  1. I have to agree with you OP. It's a shame because normally decent players will do the same thing, they'll have to in order to get on with questing. I absolutely loved how GW2 completely illiminated that type of behaviour.
  2. For the record I've just resubbed. I have a 50 healer that I was quite adept at playing before quitting back in March and I now have to 'relearn' him. There are plenty of former subbers who have returned with FTP and there will be lots of new folks. You have to have some patience if you want the game to grow.
  3. You might be right. I have just resubbed but if I remember correctly I never entered HM Flashpoints with purples, I picked them up there. It was mentioned above, no new player is doing FPs or OPs just yet but I suppose it could be an issue later. As I said earlier there is a lot wrong with this FTP model, but I just think the OPs complaints are petty and unjustified
  4. Is purple gear really that important for FPs? If it matters that much then don't play with FTP players and then your gaming experience will be exactly the same as it was before FTP hit. No problem.
  5. This thread was your complaint, and to be honest as FTP doesn't affect your game in any way, I'm still mystified as to what you're actually complaining about. Just enjoy your game and don't worry about anyone else.
  6. A bit like the rest of us when we all first started? A subscriber could join today and be at the same level so it's pointless blaming that on FTP
  7. FTP flashpoint and ops participation are heavily restricted (3 a week i think?) and if they're doing ops already they must be former subbers, who will be slightly more savvy and better geared. Besides, lack of sub is not related to ability in the slightest. This FTP lark leaves a lot to be desired, but let's not pretend there's a problem where there isn't one.
  8. OP, does the free to play option does affect you in any negative way? I suspect it doesn't, so don't concern yourself with what others are getting, just enjoy your own game.
  9. Please no. That just sent a shiver down my spine. I'd hazard a guess and say most of the 50,000 that pledged (of which I am one) are doing so specifically to avoid the likes of EA getting their grubby little hands on it. I think Roberts didn't want to have the control of the games direction taken away from him.
  10. Played the open beta and started launch day -6. Lasted 3 months. Came back a few day ago just for the stories. I have an Agent healer at 50. I was pretty adept at playing him before unsubbing but was completely lost when I logged back onto him, so many abilities. I think I have been spoilt by the GW2 and TSW way of doing things. During this time I have followed this forum with some horror as how things have developed with this game and I'm sort of kicking myself for giving EA my money. Still, nice to see a full server.
  11. Been sort of following this thread but not so closely so I appologise if this has been mentioned before. I've always been against a cross server LFG system, but I think I've changed my mind. If you are going to have an end game so heavily reliant on grouping you really must have either server merges with a same server grouping system or a cross server LFG system. You can't have a game with neither yet that's exactly what we have and I think game and a lot of players are suffering for it. I see both sides of the argument but unless something is done there will be no community to 'ruin'.
  12. When you started you're sports analogies it was with professional sport, which is not the same as a recreational video game. It just isn't, no matter how you twist it. It may be to some people but this game is not aimed a them and besides that's another argument for another time. Now you're comparing it to amateur sport. Slightly more appropriate but still irrelevant. If I had to copmare this video game to something like that I'd say it's more like a Sunday league football in a local pub league. Sure people want to win, but no one really cares if they do. It's about getting together with a bunch of mates having a crack and a few beers after. Yet we all know the weaknesses in the team are the 5'4" goalie, the fat slow winger or the striker with the turning circle of a supertanker. But at the end of the game everyone has had a good time, you all shake hands and meet up for a beer. That's how I see this game, in fact that's how I see all video gaming. When it gets too serious there is a problem and it's isn't a fault of the game. You seem to think that after the game the manager should be sitting in his office with spreadsheets analysing performance using opta index or creating individual diet plans, reviewing video replays or something. I think he should be sat at the bar. So, am I thick because I don't understand or thick because I disagree with you? This amused me I must say. Evidence if ever it was needed that you take competition faaar too seriously. I'm not competing, you are competing. You really think we're being judged by the SWTOR masses? Are you delusional? No one will judge us because no one cares. It's the internet. Seriously, if you think anyone here really cares about our little chit chat, you might have more issues going on in your life right now then 'besting' someone on the internet. I know I will not convince you, or anyone else with your point of view and to be honest I don't care. I'm just making points and trying to do so in a mature adult manner and not calling anyone thick.
  13. But I didn't misquote you, I quoted you exactly. I just missed out the nonsensical guff about pro sports. Saying you need a log for bragging rights would have saved you from typing pages of BS about raids and baseball. At least you've been honest about it.
  14. So why did you buy the car with no power steering?
  15. That's all you had to say. I now understand your position perfectly.
  16. And herein is, for me, lies the problem with those of you demanding recount style combat logs (and all the other annoying demands that end up in this forum for that matter). Why can't you all seem to adapt to the game the way it is? Why must this game bend to your way simply because you've become "quite accustomed" to it? Is it really so hard to let this game be what it is?
  17. I hate these sports analogies. You aren't a professional sportsman and this is not what you're doing for a living, it's what you're doing for a hobby. If you want a real sports analogy, you're just part of a pub football team playing in a Sunday league with a bunch of mates in your spare time.
  18. In answer to the thread title, yes that is true and it is exactly what Bioware wanted to launch with. Some might speculate that the launch date was forced upon them. Listening to some feedback from the guild summit it was clear that the legacy system was one of the first design decisions they took at a very early stage in development. To be honest I don't blame Bioware for this.
  19. If you think this thread is somehow evidence that there won't be any griefing on the part of the pro log brigade, I think you've been somewhat economical with your reading, or can't read at all. Just look at the guy directly above the post you quoted, how do you think he's going to behave? Besides, if you actually read the post, I was merely pointing out what the majority might think and why they seem to be voting the way they are. And please, anaolgies to professional sports and sportsmen? Is that really how you see yourseves? Don't make me laugh. It's got nothing to do with being good, it's about being a jerk.
  20. Of course you are correct seeing as 30m downloads is not the same as 30m people downloading. No one is saying the majority will abuse it. I think the point being made is not that the majority will use it to grief, but that the majority feel it will have a detrimental effect and it will be used, by an annoying but loud minority, to grief. Edit: The attitude above might be considered a case in point.
  21. Congrats to you on making a daft point and debunking it in the same sentence.
  22. Dear me. What can one say to this? Can you hear yourself? You aren't describing a game, you're describing a scientific experiment. When did gamers stop playing games and start decrypting data? It's as if you're almost trying to make a computer game sound important. What exactly are you trying to turn this game into? You want "pursuit of knowledge", go to university. This is a game. To be played.
  23. So why then do you feel you need a more comprehensive combat log to the one that's being provided? Please whatever you do don't give me the circular argument that you need harder content to justify tools to make it easier (and don't bother saying that a more robust combat log wont make your life easier either).
  24. FACT: All content has been cleared without your precious combat log. Perhaps you need them, but it appears the real harcore players of this game are getting by without them. To the good players they were not needed. Try again.
