  1. I just went in to play -- primarily to earn some coin, but even though my credit card says otherwise, I'm no longer a subscriber. I hope they resolve this quickly, or perception will become reality.
  2. What he said. Folks say be as specific as possible. Be aware that they might skip you forward over some steps. I had done the "scavenger hunt" portion of things and was one piece short, so they skipped me forward to the next (and final) step. Personally, I was very excited not to have to fight Darth Malgus in Hard Mode, but some people might feel they cheated... Good luck! Hang in there. I think it took about 4-5 days before I heard back.
  3. You have to know when and where to use the seeker droid and then it's about the easiest thing ever. When I was doing Makeb, I would do the dailies in about 20 minutes for some easy coin. One of the macrobinocular ones in particular was great because it overlaps with a regular daily. I DO find that sometimes there's a quirk where the seeker droid stops working, but if you leave the area and come back in, it fixes itself.
  4. Because I don't much care about PVP, the first thing I would do is hire my friend Andy as my assistant director and give him 50% of my budget. While he's figuring out what to do, I would use my resources for the following (not necessarily in priority order): 1) Redesign ships so that: a) you can purchase, find or create items to customize them b) each has an open "cargo hold" (more on the cargo hold in a minute) c) each ship (or class) has a unique "trophy room" and associate scavenger hunt quest line (eg, "data codes" for the Agent, holocrons for the Consular, etc) 2) Add mini-games like pazaak, sabacc, podracing, and swoopracing a) Each mini-game would be playable for "for fun", vs other players, and as part of a quest-line. b) Most mini-games would have a way to utilize part of your cargo hold: Want to focus on podracing? Add a mechanics pit (with pit droids!). Like pazaak and sabacc? Turn the whole thing into an onboard casino! c) Most mini-games would have an associated NON-COMBAT companion that you can recruit that will help you improve your chances in the game. For example, perhaps there's a Grumpy Old Rodian who is the best podracer mechanic out there. Want to recruit him? Gotta go on a quest. Maybe for the games of change, there's a Casino Droid, or perhaps a series of modifications you can make to your ship droid. d) In addition to the obvious Star Wars-centric mini games, I'd like to see some old classics like fishing (might as well make use of that water), a cooking game (with a question series a la Iron Chef), a possibly a "trading game" (with an affilated awesome, non-combat Wash-like pilot) that involves sending your ship away on missions, sometimes for hours at a time (this could pay off big money... but could also leave you stranded on Quesh if you finish quicker than expected...). 3) Recruitable non-combat companions a) As noted above, but also perhaps for other roles. For example, maybe a Bothan "negotiator" who always allows access to the GTN and who can get you 5% more when you sell materials to a store rather than on the GTN... 4) Single player versions of flashpoints and operations (yes, I know they're the POINT of an MMO, but *I'm* the designer here!) a) First thing here: With Treek and HK-51, it's now possible to recruit an 8-man team for yourself. Yet there's no way in the game for us to see more than one other character in action at a time, and most of the time, there's no reason to bother equiping all but your one or two favorite characters. MMO vs single-player aside, would you love to see your whole crew in action from time to time? I can't be the only one. b) Mercenaries who can be hired for a single mission or single-use, class-specific resources who can fill the same role. Having trouble trying to solo a nasty Heroic, but there are no suitable players around to join forces with? Perhaps it's worth spending the coin to hire the Star Wars equivalent of Zaeed or Black Whirlwind for a day. Or, say your a Sith Warrior... Demand that the empire send some soldiers who temporarily supplement your forces. (These folks could also be used for the solo-player versions of flashpoints and ops, if you don't want to take the ship droid with you, or haven't yet gotten Treek and HK-51). And after all that, I need a nap, although I should probably give Andy a call to see what he's doing for the PVPers.
  5. I had collected all but one of the pieces needed for HK-51, but their now all gone from my inventory and the quest has been reset back to "visit the Theoretika." NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. I've been playing the game for a while and have had 2 characters maxed out at 50 for quite some time. I've been puttering along since, a little Makeb here, some seeker and macrobinocular quests there... Last night, I finally hit 55 with my first character, and I think it was a pretty cool moment. I did it with XP for defeating the hovertank on Makeb (in one of the heroic areas), which completed a quest, and also leveled up on Legacy at the same time. There was some much on the screen I didn't know where to look! Anyway, I thought it was pretty cool way to hit max.
  7. Story-wise, Treek is "Fringe" so it seems like she would work best with the Bounty Hunter or Smuggler. On the other hand, both of those who pretty alien-rich crews. I'm considering playing her with an Agent, since that's the class with the least diverse crew, species-wise. Another angle is "What class gets a healer late?" In that sense, Smuggler. Of the two options in the original post, story-wise = BH, mechanics = Jedi Guardian. Good luck and enjoy!
  8. Oh, one more thought: I know a lot of people are not fans of space combat on the rails, but I wish it had been incorporated ih some of the storylines. A lot of the great action sequences in the movies mix space combat with ground combat, and many of the story elements imply it. BioWare games already have stuff like this (the random space encounters in KotOR and a few of the plot points in Jade Empire for example). Even if it's on the rails, wouldn't it be more satisfying to ACTUALLY fight your way to the enemy flagship than to suddenly appear in the hangar and say "Boy, that was a really though fight getting here!"
  9. I am content with the game as is, but there's always room for improvement, so here are my top three: 1) Customization options for the ship, preferably with some impact on the game. I would love to be able to change the color of the ship and add decorations, maybe something specific for each class: a trophy room for the Bounty Hunter, a real library for the Consular, a museum of evil artifacts for the Inquisitor... My wish is that each ship had maybe three modifiable "zones" and each has impact on the game as a whole, even minor. So maybe you could add an upgraded engine, which reduces travel cost, or a cargo hold that allows you to play a "mini-game" and make money by moving commodities between planets. Or a pazaak den that lets you invite players (PVE or PVP, don't care) over to your ship to play pazaak. 2) Min-games. Related to the ship, but it goes beyond that. I think many players would love pazaak and/or sabacc, and some option for podracing of swoopracing, but I'll go further. Has anyone played the Suikoden games for PlayStation? In most of the games, you recruit a HUGE number of allies (108) and build a castle as your headquarters. Many of the folks you recruit are combat allies, but many of them also run mini-games, with a massive range: fishing, a restaurant, a separate cooking competition, games of chance, a lottery... I know it's going to sound ridiculous, but one of the most awesome aspects of Suikoden II (which is an AMAZING old school game) was an ongoing subplot about an Iron Chef-like cooking competition -- which required you to collect both ingredients and recipes to compete effectively. Wouldn't it be cool to have some of that in the game? I could see it leading to sub-quests to recruit optional, non-combat crew members, as well as items and equipment. For example, maybe if there's a podracing sub-game, one of the current allies gives a tech bonus (for example, for the Bounty Hunter, maybe it's Blizz) OR you can go on a quest to recruit a grumpy old mechanic who never joins you in combat but just hangs around your ship tinkering on your podracer giving you upgrades (and even a quest or two per planet to go out and get better equipment to help him!). Or maybe there's mods that you can get for your ship droid to help him help you train as an expert to gain an edge in a mini-game like pazaak or a cooking competition (with related visual customization -- who doesn't want to see their ship droid in a chef's hat and "Kiss the droid" apron?) 3) More companion interaction. More conversation would be great, but I'd love for their to be some way to have multiple companions in play, even in limited circumstances. As a huge KotOR fan, I'd love for their to be some way to run around with two companions at once. The ultimate, though, would be for some way to see the entire crew in action. I know it will never happen, but I would absolutely love a PVE variant of the operations that you could play, bringing your whole crew into action (although you'd currently need to recruit either HK-51 or Treek to get to a full 8-man party, both if you don't use your ship droid). Not only would it be great to see the entire crew together in action, but it would give me a reason to bother upgrading my non-healer companions. If anyone from BioWare is listening, I would pay cashy money to have any of these things.
  10. I'm married with one kid and a full-time job. I don't play every night, but I often play for at least an hour or two. In general, my wife and I both surf the net when we watch TV after my daughter is in bed, so sometimes I'll get a little playtime in there. Also, my wife is a teacher and I'm a night owl, so I'm often up a few hours after she is, which gives me another window to play. For me, part of the trick is multi-tasking. I very rarely watch TV without having the laptop open.
  11. Depends on what you're looking for. I've seen it worn with the Outlaw chestpiece (from the Cartel) and it looks pretty sweet. Not Jedi-ish, but a cool look for a bounty hunter or agent.
  12. I also started with Jedi Knight. When complete, I created 7 more characters (one for each class), and played through the starting planet for most of them. The Bounty Hunter was the one that caught my eye (it didn't hurt that the BH is from the other side, uses guns rather than a lightsaber, and starts with a healing companion). I haven't been playing with the same dedication as the first character, but it's a fun diversion. If I continued, I'll probably do Inquisitor and Smuggler next, which will cover 2 of each faction, and one of each archetype.
  13. So I created a bounty hunter during one of the last beta test weekends, and he's stat in my account, at 11th level, at the Imperial space station, for over a year. I stepped away from the game for a while, then came back and primarily played a Jedi Knight with a little time on a Sith Warrior. I want to go back to my Bounty Hunter now, but... I've forgotten how to play him! Can someone offer me a few points on which powers are best for which circumstances? I remember that Death From Above is a strong opening move, but that's about all I remember. For the record, he's now a 12th level Mercenary. Alternately, if there's already a resource, please point me in the right direction. Have a little mercy on a guy who just wants to play a different character for a while!
  14. It all depends on why you're playing, what aspects you enjoy, and where you find your satisfaction. I'm playing primarily as a solo player, for the story and the world. For me, one of the most exciting parts about hitting 50th level was thatit meant that my Jedi Guardian wasn't going to look different every day or two as I got better equipment. I spent a little while researching my options, picked my favorite look and bought it (from the Cartel Market, thank you very much, with supplements from the GTN). Gratifying? Oh, yes. Because it meant that my dude FINALLY looked the way I wanted him to, and I could get on with the business of exploring Corellia and Ilum without any major interruptions. Would it have been more gratifying to "earn" the same outfit through question? Heck, no, because that would have taken time away from where I'm really having fun. Different strokes for different folks.
  15. I think the OP's armor looks pretty good with the mask. One of the sharpest looks I've seen isn't a Sith/robe idea at all, but the Nihilus mask with Outlaw's Armor\. To me, it looked very sinister. Depending on body type, either a lethal spy or a Punisher-esque figure. If I play my bounty hunter up to sufficent level, I may go for that look for him.
  16. Personally, I don't think new classes are needed (or likely, at least in the near future), but I would want to see "leader" types: Repbublic Noble and Imperial Officer The game designers have insisted that the eight core classes all represent iconic experiences from the movies (eg, Sith Warrior = Vader or Maul, Sith Inquisitor = Palpatine, Jedi Knight = Luke, etc), but there's nothing to reflect Leia or Padme (or, for that matter, Tarkin or the many military types who aren't always on the frontlines). I often wonder what "iconic movie experience" the Imperial Agent comes from. I have to assume it was SERENITY.
  17. And now, for a dissenting (and minority) viewpoint: I LIKE the Cartel Market. I use the Cartel Market. I buy still there that I like the use of, or look of, and if I'm having a slow days, I'll drop a few bucks on a pack or two for a little thrill. When I hit level 50, I was excited that I could basically have whatever look I wanted for my character. I don't have to worry about wearing crappy looking armor because the stats are good. So I spent a little while exploring my options, bought the armor I wanted from the Cartel Market, bought the mods I wanted from the GTN and made the equipment I wanted. Is that less satisfying to me than killing 530 grobblaxes for a 1% chance of a super-rare drop? No. Because that makes me want to stab myself in the eye. Different strokes for different folks. Some people enjoy the thrill of the random drop, and I don't begrudge them that. But that ain't how I play. I want to play the story, and maybe an occassional flashpoint, and then I mostly want to be left alone to have my experience the way I want it to be. And in a small way, the Cartel Market helps that.
  18. I'm not necessarily saying that I'd want to see more classes, but I've seen a few good suggestions for additions: 1) Wookiee and Trandoshan. Sure, they're really species, but they'd be cool to play, regardless. I know there has been a lot of "Why can't I be a Wookiee?!?" whining, and at least one person reasonably suggested the Trandoshan as the dark side counter. 2) Droid-based story. Argue for or against, but some folk are interested in playing droids, and like a species like the Wookiee, the current structure doesn't support it. Droid, Wookiee/Trandoshan, or just Wookiee might be easier than a totally new "regular" class because they could make use of many existing abilities, just in potentially different combinations. In theory, these could also be "Fringe" classes, so any could be done without a balancing factor. 3) "Leader" classes. Although it would be an incredible headache from a gameplay viewpoint, the Star Wars icons that we really haven't seen represented as leaders (political or military). Republic Noble and Imperial Officer, perhaps? (Again, I'm not saying I want these--although I wouldn't mind 'em--just that there are still legitimate options to explore). Personally, if there's one thing I'd like to see changed or added, it would be missions that mix in starship combat. Instead of "Well, it was a really tough fight to get to this evil space station," let's PLAY the fight. Or missions where you have to rescue folk on the ground then escape in a ship. Full disclosure: I LIKE the starship missions as they currently exist ("on the rails") and I think that approach would work well for something like this, and would not handicap players who don't want to participate heavily in starship combat. To some extent, BioWare has mirrored this is MASS EFFECT, where there are missions where you have to use your vehicle, but at times you need to disembark to deal with stuff on a more personal level.
  19. Here's my situation: I'm basically a single player-type (no PVP or ops, only limited forays into flashpoints). My first character is 50th level, and although I'm not QUITE done the story, I think I have all the equipment I'm going to need for him. However, I would like to use him to generate coin that I can send to help out my next character (my personal goal is to play through all 8 character classes). I've fiddled with Section X and the Black Hole a little and find the payout rate to be lower than I'd like (the fact that I'm competing against a dozen other players for each target doesn't help!). So where do people suggest I hunt? I don't care about commendations, experience, or anything else. I'm just in it for the credits. What's my move?
  20. Crystals. At a low level, you can have a very powerful crystal, which can then be used by any character in their weapon. Personally, I bought some of the armor, too, because it was decent for the level I was at, and also upgradable and adaptable, so I've handed the pieces around and swapped out some modifications. I probably used the pieces I bought for 4-8 levels as-is before having to mod them. If you like the look of anything, it's your call if it's worth the investment just to look pretty.
  21. I'm in a comparable position to the OP -- playing a Jedi Guardian who just hit level 50 on Christmas Eve! -- although I played through two of the beta weekends and had the benefit of a buddy who was a "real" beta tester to talk me through the basics. I too am a PVE player and SWtOR is my first real MMO (I did Pirates of the Caribbean Online briefly). Once I complete my story quest, I'll probably fiddle around with Corellia and Belsavis, maybe do a few high level regular flashpoints, maybe try to get HK-51, and then I think that's about it for my old Jedi. After that, I'll probably play through a different class, and K'reed will get play only to send credits and companion gifts to his legacy-mates. In terms of equipment, I put the Recruit gear on Scourge, which is an unfortunate waste, since I rarely use him. I ripped the mods out of some of the Tionese pieces, and put them into "better" equipment. I have one of those Ziosk lightsabers, so I'm not giving that up, and after I hit level 50, I spent a night trolling the GTN and the Cartel market to find the right look for my guy. So now I'm tooling around Corellia in modified Tionese equipment for me and whatever geat I find for Doc, and I think the only time I've died was when I walked away from the computer for a few minutes too close to a spawn point. My sense is that Tionese equipment, possibly with a few upgrades/augments, should be more than enough.
  22. While I agree with you in theory, I'm curious: exactly how many packs have you gotten? I picked up a few when they first came out, and will sometimes grab one if it's a slow night or I'm feeling lucky. With the exception of one item (which I now have two of), I've had no problem selling off my junk... often for fairly tidy profit.
  23. I like the Cartel Market, and I'm not afraid to spend a little money there. Sure, a lot of the stuff in the packs is junk, but there's the thrill of gambling. With the new packs, I opened a few and got something decent in each one. I got one piece of the Revan armor and am hoping to pick up the rest later. Meantime, my Jedi Knight is now running around with a new lightsaber with a cyan-blue blade. Can't complain.
  24. I'm playing through my first character and almost to the end of Act Two, which has gotten me thinking about the future. I would love to play through all eight class storylines, but the idea of doing the same sidequests 4 or 8 times leaves me cold. How feasible is it to play JUST the story missions? This would clearly result is less experience (so lower level) and less coin (so less equipment). How crippling would that be? Has anyone tried it? Secondary question: If just the storyline is not feasible, does anyone have suggestions on the quickest/most efficient way to offset things? I've got a wife and a three-year-old and they've been very patient with me as I play through my Jedi Knight, but I don't see that patients lasting through 7 other classes.
  25. I appreciate the suggestions... I should be clear, though, that I'M one of those lazy people. When I hit level 50, I may play through each operation once or twice to get a feel for the story, but I don't really have a desire to do the same operation over and over and over again. I don't even know what Black Hole equipment is! It seems like without repeating a ton of Operations and Flashpoints (not currently on my to-do list), my best bet is trying to reverse-engineer to purple versions of the level 22 items. Is that about the size of it? The Rakata Relics require a Biometric Crystal Alloy. What's my easiest route to one of those? Do I need to earn it myself, or can it be bought on the GMO?
