  1. Well your example of a "bad" game is an excellent example of how not to play a Gunship. They are not OP and neither are any other ship class, especially if they are played like junk. To play a Gunship right takes less skill than a dog fighting Scout or Strike, this may be true, but an excellent Gunship pilot will not just sit at one area and hope pick off unlucky passers-by. I personally love to charge towards a satellite (if one could call the the boost on a Gunship a charge), pop the turrets, and then capture it all while picking off the enemy coming to reinforce the defenders. I keep moving across the map. It is so much fun to pop up in different areas and thrash unsuspecting enemy pilots. Sounds to me like the OP is trying to discredit the Gunship based off of the inaction of three bad, or inexperienced, pilots.
  2. We Gunship Pilots are not invincible. We can be a pain in the rear though and honestly, a little teamwork on our opponent's side and we are quite hosed. Charging right at a Gunship is quite stupid, even if you're in a Strike Fighter. Instead come at Gunships from the flanks (up, down, left, right, and behind). If you are close in on a Gunship keep your speed up. Sadly our ships turn like a snail on salt. Be smart in how you play, that is all there is to it.
  3. The part that I made bold is the issue. I play Gunships so I'm not QQing about them. However I do agree that a lack of warning that you're about to get smoked does give the Gunships a serious advantage. However one quick turn with a little boost will throw me off even at 15000M. They do need to make some changes, personally I don't think GSF was 100% ready to be out of testing.
  4. Dear Readers, Please keep in mind that these are my thoughts and reactions. They are my opinions and as such might have already been expressed in other posts by other players. Deal with it. If you are "god's gift" to all things SW:TOR then I'm sure that any comment you have to say on what I write you have already said a thousand times elsewhere, so keep it to yourself. If you have something constructive to say, then I welcome it. Kindest regards, Abimelech Okay down to business. GSF is a great new addition to SW:TOR. Space PvP has been a long time coming. It was expected by many before Beta started and many were disappointed that it wasn't in the game at launch. Now that it is finally here I find it both excellent and wanting. So first the good. GSF is a beautiful and fun addition to SW:TOR. The maps are expertly made and I absolutely cannot wait to see the additional maps and play styles. Personally I would love to see something similar to Battlefront 2's maps where you had to attack the opposing side's capital ships. The various ships and weapons that can be used on them are quite fun. I, for one, have learned to love the Gunships, while others have learned to loathe the Gunships. There is something so very satisfying about the explosion, when you see a Scout get demolished from one shot from you rail gun. Another great thing is that each Pilot is not forced into any specific role. The whole team can be Scouts if they wanted to be. We each have a decent HUD that displays 90% of the needed information that each pilot needs. The 3rd person view does not truly prevent or obscure any view points. All in all this is a sound aspect of the game as a whole. That being said, there are some issues that I have with the new expansion. The first being that there is no way to tell if you're being hit, especially if you're getting attacked while in "sniper mode" in a Gunship. If a lucky pilot (read complete jerk) flies around behind you and starts to blast away your tail end, you have no way of even knowing about it until you blow up. There really needs to be an update where either the edges of your screen flash, or your damage flashes before your eyes much like normal PvP. From the way that the expansion was advertised it seemed like there were a lot more options for your fighter. In fact, to me, it seemed as if you had the one "fighter" and could just change the looks, solar panels, wings, elongated cockpit vs. stub nose... etc. The game is what it is, and I accept that, but in the future more ship modifications would be great. Controls (oh look a dead horse, lets beat it!), those of us who have played flight sims know that mouse and keyboard controls are junk. Some may even say that the pilots who use joysticks and game pads vs. mouse/keyboard have an advantage. Whatever your opinion is, that is cool with me. The controls I want to talk about are not just joystick vs. mouse/keyboard. Holding down the "W" key to accelerate makes sense. Having your ship return to 3/4 speed once you let go of the "W" key does not. We should be able to set our throttle how we want it and not have to rely on holding down a button. The mouse also does not return to center (unless there is an option that I have missed). If you make a turn with the mouse and stop moving your mouse, you will continue to turn until you return your mouse back to center. I do not know of a great work around to this but I would like to see a "snap to center" option. Time and reward: The amount of time put into a game really seems to outpace the reward, at least at end game. I have no need for EXP, but when I play I seem to get crap for a reward even if I win (post Daily and Weekly Quests). Can we please bump this up a little? Well there you have it folks. Regardless if you like it or not or agree with me or not.
  5. Still going on today November 24, 2013. Dev's please update or fix!
  6. I really do not know what I want to do with my Operative. The healing seems to be (and remember I'm at a low level) dependent on a cast time. I have played a little with the Conc Tree and Lethality Tree, as well as the Med tree... I don't know what is best for being a low level in PvP.
  7. Hey folks, I'm one of those Newb-again players who have recently come back to the game. Man there have been a lot of changes and I'm finding that I'm having more fun rolling new characters vs. playing my old level 50's. However with all the changes I find myself, once again, on a steep learning curve. Does anyone know of any decent PvP guides for Operatives that takes you through the levels (IE Not just end game). Thanks
  8. I have just recently came back from a long absence from the game and I must admit that even though all my old characters are practically worthless now with all of their old gear, I have fully enjoyed the lowbe PvP! I have played it both melee and ranged and it has been such a blast. Frustrating at times yes, but that is PvP in general.
  9. There was almost nothing to do once you got to level 50. Also I took a bit of a break and I log back in today and I'm the only person on the Imp Fleet! talk about a game going down hill!!
  10. I agree 100%. I really dislike the fact that we didn't get a title since we became The Republic's Most Wanted. Even after (if you went light side) you chose not to kill the Chancellor.
  11. To all those who are complaining: Before you decided to vent your frustration about not getting a free 30 days did you stop to examine why complaining about it might be a bad idea? I will be the first to admit that it sucks for those who have spent more time playing alts than leveling a solitary character to level 50. However BioWare can give free time to who ever they want for what ever reason they want. If BW wanted to give a free month to everyone who rolled a female purple Twi'lek Sith Inquisitor that is their choice and those of us who rolled anything else have no right to complain. However complaining about something that is purely the right of the company to do might backfire in that it might discourage BW from doing something similar in the future. Not only did some of the community miss out on one free month but their uprising and protests might cause them and everyone else to miss out on further undeserved gifts. Yes of course I have a level 50 character, in fact I have three, yes I do play this game as if I have no other life, I wont apologize for having the desire and opportunity to do so. I'm sorry that there are some in the community who wont get this free gift but I hope that all the complaining about it stops so that in the future free gifts like this will not be discouraged.

    Healer Walkout

OP Have you played 1.2 on the Public Test Server all the way to level 50 on a Sorc? Do you have at the very least a BM Sorc on the Test Server? Do you truly know what the impact the changes will have on the Sorc community first hand? If you have answered yes to all these questions then by all means have your walk out. But if you can't answer yes to all these questions then why not see what these changes will do to your class before you start calling for a strike? I am trying to be rational here, will you join me or just hurl insults in my direction like you have done to just about everyone else who disagreed with you?
  13. Powertech doesn't have a ranged interrupt unless you consider 4m ranged. If you really want an interrupt I'm okay with that but you should be stuck with the same crap Powertech has. The reason why you can't kill a healer really doesn't have to do with your lack of an interrupt though, it has to do with the fact that they only button you press the entire time you play in PvP is Grav Round! Here is an idea, why don't one of those three Commandos actually try and heal the other two? Face it a healer, say a Sorc has very little DPS. They can only focus on keeping themselves alive. Where as a team of three commandos have a ton of DPS and the ability to heal each other. Try working as a team. Also you have plenty of abilities that cause interruption such as knock-backs and stuns. A tactical application of stuns and knock-backs will allow you to interrupt your crafty healer. Have you and your two other commando buddies ever tried surrounding your opponent? You can then negate their ability to LOS you. TL: DR I'm okay with the Commando getting a 4m interrupt, but mainly the OP needs to LTP.
  14. I used companion gifts. I have a pretty healthy supply of Purple (magenta whatever) Level 5 Gifts so I just pulled all the Technology gifts I had like that and gave them to her at a little over 400 affection a pop.
  15. Update: Once I completed Chapter 1 Mako finally opened up and started talking again. So there is the answer to the below question. Greetings all. I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place but I couldn't figure out where to put it. Mako's story is not advancing even though I have gotten her Affection to over 8000. I am only on Alderaan. Do I need to advance my own Class Story to advance her personal story?
  16. I love my Sniper. It is a very fun class to play and can hold its own at early levels. I leveled almost completely solo, but I will admit to having help during the final class mission and during some of the leveling on Corellia. Not that I needed it, but I wanted to speed through the last few levels. Don't be fooled by the Cover Mechanic. Sometimes being mobile and kiting as a Sniper is needed. I personally started out with Engineering as my spec but later moved on to MM. You don't get a healing companion until after Act 1. But you shouldn't need one either. If you have to use a health pack you're doing something wrong... or fighting a boss.
  17. I just dinged 49 and have loved the story. Act 2 did slow way down but so did Episodes 2 and 5 so just think of it as part of the saga.
  18. I started with Engineering but MM is a great leveling spec too. So yeah do what you like, respecing is cheap so no worries.
  19. I honestly did not enjoy the Lethality tree. I felt, as a Sniper, that I lost the ability to fight 1 v 1 but I did see some impressive end WZ damage totals. I still like MM though I'll admit freely that I didn't give the Lethality tree much of a chance.
  20. I had the same exact issue today and realized that I really wasn't at the correct location... it was very frustrating for a while. Glad to see the OP got it worked out.

    PvP QQ

I am so sick of playing games where it is 6 v 8 or 7 v 8. It happens 4/5 games. While you're breaking world PvP Devs, why not actually try to fix something for once!
  23. That would be boss!!!!! I +1 this thread.
