  1. No, but it appears that Chilled Corellian Cocktail does the same. Thanks for that tip. Now that I know what's causing this dumb animation, I'll stop using the stuff.
  2. Whatever this random hand gesture/clap animation is that my human IA has started doing (I don't remember when it started), I hate it. Please remove it. It's annoying enough when my character is idle. But he even does it when running, which looks really stupid.
  3. mains are healer and tank. your first point is DEAD on. edit: this is the girlfriend, on the boyfriend's computer -- forgot i was doing this on his pc! he doesn't tank or heal, i do!!! anyway, after re-reading ... ok, ok, your first AND second points are DEAD on!
  4. No apology necessary. Essentially, the short version of my post is... A new computer helped my gameplay, but as my girlfriend was able to demonstrate, it did NOT resolve the fundamental issue that we're discussing here.
  5. OK, I can't quote my last post because I can't bloody well find it! We really need a working search feature or "View my posts". Anyway, I had stated yesterday that I had been playing on a 4+ year old computer with an AMD dual core processor, 4 GB of RAM and an 8800GT OC with 512 MB of video RAM. Yesterday I received my new computer. Core i7 2600K, 8 GB of RAM and dual 6850s in Crossfire mode with a total of 2 GB of video RAM. On my old computer, I had been seeing this issue, but since so many others had been having the same issue, I didn't attribute it to my hardware, primarily. Then lenonk pointed out that he had recently switched from an older laptop with an 8800GT to a newer laptop with, (I think he said) a 6950. He stated that the switch to the newer computer cleared the issue up for him and he speculated if the issue may not be solely game design, but also some hardware induced latency. So, my girlfriend and I conducted a little experiment. Last night, as I was playing, the game did seem more responsive to me. So I thought perhaps lenonk had been right. However, this evening, my girlfriend logged on my machine and was able to duplicate the issue she's been experiencing on her laptop (which is newer than my old desktop) from the start. So, our joint conclusion is this... The issue seems to stem from the game design, for certain abilities on certain classes. But, it is also likely that the lack of character responsiveness is exacerbated by hardware induced latency on older machines. New hardware helps in SOME cases, but definitely NOT all. Just the observation of two experienced MMO players, on three different computers, trying four different classes/roles (a mix of melee tank & DPS, and caster heals & DPS).
  6. I will be performing a very similar test myself this evening. I've been running on a 4 year old PC with a dual core AMD processor, 4GB of RAM and a 8800GT OC with 512 MB video RAM. It's served me well for years. My new computer arrived this afternoon. It has a 2600K processor, 8 GB of RAM and dual 6850s with a total of 2GB video RAM. So I guess I'll get to see if my experience mirrors yours, or if I still have the problem.
  7. Somewhere, buried DEEP in the original thread, there was a post where an individual experiencing the issue did list the specs of their machine. And a damn nice machine it was. Like many others, I believe it's not the hardware, it's the game. I think Mr. Reid's statement indicates he knows that as well.
  8. When you post your reply, scroll down to the very bottom of the page, there's an option to rate the thread.
  9. I agree the delay in responsiveness is an issue. And for those who say they don't see it, try the speeder. I've had this happen multiple times. I click the button, see my speeder, start to move, bam. Dismounted. It's one of the easiest ways to demonstrate this issue. Or another good example... farming mats. I stop, scan a node of something, and then start to move (because I use autoloot). If I move before the loot window opens and closes, the stuff doesn't get into my inventory. Even though the chat window indicates that I received the item(s). I have to go back and loot again to get it. I know others have had this issue because I've looted nodes that I couldn't yet actually scan. They had been left by someone who apparently had this issue with looting. Now, take that issue and put it in combat. Now it's not just a question of whether you walk or ride, or whether you get your loot or don't. It's quite possibly a question of whether you live or die. Seems to me, as others have already observed, the pain could be relieved by moving the action to the beginning of the animation rather than later in the animation. I too love the game. I love the story. I want the game to succeed and be enjoyable for a long time to come. Please Bioware, address this issue.
  10. If they had done that, they would have to refrain from making Revan any part of SWTOR. Otherwise there would be details that didn't coincide with the resolution that many people chose for Revan in their previous game and they'd be unhappy about that. Heck, as it is, my gf doesn't like the fact that Revan got canonized as a male character, since Revan was female when she played KoTOR. I can see her point.
  11. I think the primary reason people seem to feel so passionately about Revan, as compared to other characters, is because we played the part of Revan. Had that not been the case, had we played another character in another story, there would be far less noise about what happened to Revan's story. Face, it was cool playing the part, but he's a part of a much larger universe, not its center.
  12. Not correct. The first chapter is about Lord Scourge. However, when you read the book (something you might want to do), you find that it alternates back and forth between Lord Scourge and Revan until their stories converge. And even then, it alternates between their individual perspectives of the events as they occur.
  13. I'm currently on the North side of Columbus, but I've lived in Cincinnati (SE side), Zanesville & Newark (Nerk).
  14. I wonder, how many people reviewed it negatively or decided it wasn't for them because they didn't like the way the story went? Some people feel rather passionately about Revan and their perception of what he represents. But you know, sometimes stories don't go the way we want them to go.
  15. My interpretation, based upon what I read in the book, is that Revan planted a seed. Particularly in Lord Scourge. The cult on DK likely grew from that seed.
